Won't really change anything in my day to day life, but phase 1 for Nevada starts Saturday.

Are we back to just counting cases, without the contest of how many tests were done? Why?

Because the context is clear. We don't nearly enough testing. And if there are hundreds of new cases a day, and testing is inadequate, it points to a problem. In Missouri, we have a 7-8% positive raite, which is a sign they are testing enough. The problem is, you aren't just supposed to test enough. You are also supposed to see the number of cases declining as you test enough. But we are testing more, and somehow that means the increasing cases or okay?

In what world does over 254 new cases a day present to you an opportunity to open? How do you keep that under control without shelter orders and social distancing like we had before, when you have no one tracing and finding the people the new cases had infected, in an effort to stop them from infecting another x amount of people.

The problem isn't that we opened. The problem is, we decided that doing so correctly was too hard, so we decided to kill an extra 60K+ so Karen can get her hair dyed.

You should be happy. States are open and doing business. Don't cry when we point out the consequences.

Texas had 19 straight days of under 1000 new cases ending 4/29. Starting 4/30 every day but 1 has been over 1000. Re-opening started 5/1 and there are 2 articles in this thread that outline how seriously businesses are taking this.

277 pages of stuff here...and we're no further along than we started. Opinions still the same. Some feel we should move forward and others feel we shouldn't - and shots fired across the bow (as politely as can be done). People are dying. Simultaneously the economy is dying. Livelihoods are dying. Emotional and mental strength from our healthcare providers is dying. Our love for people and respect are dying. I did a funeral for a family today with 8 people present - 3 brothers who lost their mom. As a minister/pastor - I give them all the encouragement I can. And tomorrow I get to take my son to his high school graduation ceremony - with the principal, my wife and our 2 other kids - and it will be an invigorating 5 minute experience of a diploma handed over, a picture taken and then moving right along for a kid who has nothing for his future right now...

              Well done, Covid-19...

I've said it a few times and I pretty sure it was p-rushing and or pie mentioned this too.

After this is all said and done, and hopefully sooner rather than later, I have enough faith in people that we will all appreciate life that much more than we did before all this started.

We've all will have gone through a rough stretch and patch in life and I believe that will make us all better and appreciate more things in life like our family, friends and strangers.

Not really... The 2020 United States elections will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. All 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives, 35 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate, and the office of president of the United States will be contested. Thirteen state and territorial governorships, as well as numerous other state and local elections, will also be contested.

We'll wake up on November 4th in a MUCH MORE divided and divisive culture. The fun is just getting started.

Ok, politics, I need to tread lightly here, but this much I will say.

I still believe in the greater good of the people will rise above politics. I'd like to believe only a small percentage will get swallowed up in the swill.

In my lifetime, with all the different presidents, congress, house, senate, local and state governments, the sun still rises in the east and sets in the west.

No, because there is zero connection or context to the two quotes you pulled. But I digress and will drop this. But we all know for certain that any discussion of this virus and pandemic without political elements is impossible. But I'm done with that and I'll drop it, and my apologies.

                            https://www.nationalreview.com/the-m...dish-approach/

Thought this was a pretty good breakdown of the much-vaunted "Swedish approach" (less stringent lockdowns, voluntary social distancing). Putting aside the fact that it doesn't seem to be working particularly well there (they're at 3,000+ deaths and have the 10th highest per capita coronavirus death rate in the world), there's good reason to think it would be disastrous here: they have a much higher percentage of single-person households than the US and are a considerably healthier society (the average Swede lives 4 years longer than the average American according to the UN). And Sweden's economy is still getting hammered, with GDP expected to fall 7% in 2020.

Perhaps I misread what you were trying to say but I took it as, "it's my job to tell these brothers everything will be ok but here I'll tell you everything will not be ok."

My apologies if that was not the case.

This seems like a pretty legit website, 4000 scientist contributing data from around the world.

It shows what countries and states are wining, almost there and losing.

Unfortunately, the US is in the losing category along with many other states. Wisconsin is also in the losing category of many other states that are losing the battle.

The data was complied as of May 5th.

At least this indicative to me, that we aren't even ready for a soft opening. I know others will disagree and that is fine, but the graphs don't lie.

You should be able to find the link for the states in the same area.
