People all over media are definitely ****ting on other states, and so are other regular citizens as a result. I won't go track down examples of this because it's prevalent all over the place and it's not my duty to prove that.

I mean a stake in who's governor who's not which state is led by which person, etc. A lot of people let that stake control them and their thoughts on this global attack.

I don’t believe there’s some a grand conspiracy, but numbers being reported inaccurately is concerning and should be examined. It does sow distrust when we’re depending on the numbers to inform our decisions.

Accidents happen, for sure. But with the notion already out there that the numbers are juiced, and then that notion is confirmed... that’s bad. It will fuel even more conspiracy talk.

There’s a lot at stake, reporting of data needs to be accurate and scrutinized afterwards to make sure it is.

Ugh. How can we get anything under control when we can’t even decide which organization is running the show?

I haven’t read more about this then just what mestevo posted, but I imagine the thought is that changing from CDC to HHS allows for a, uhhh, more hands on approach from leadership.

Any one who has said this thing has been managed well is a liar and a pariah.

Numbers supposedly were reported correctly at least by Orlando Health. Somehow they were changed by the department of health. There are also a bunch of other clinics not bothering to report negative tests even though they are required. If they can't even report numbers correctly, how can they handle anything correctly. When you have a bunch of 100% reporting with 100s of tests done, the numbers are not correct.

Then you have people in power just making things up. Phoenix mayor says the morgues are full at the hospital, a reporter calls the hospital and they aren't full.

Texas has the same issues Florida has.

So how do you make accurate decisions based on all this terrible data that is either full of mistakes at best or completely fraudulent?

LOL. I would say that's been an important factor in each respective state's response. You may not care or have a "stake in it," but it certainly does matter and is a factor. Which I'm sure you would agree with.

I'm not really concerned about politicians being used for punching bags. Its part of the job.

Apparently it was unknown to me that "the media" were gleefully walloping states reporting surges and high numbers now. I don't typically follow news coverage for multiple reasons. I do know there was just criticism for some of these states earlier as they did nothing for precautions or completely ignored the risk.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.

CDC didn't help their credibility with the **** they came out with yesterday. Can't post it here, however.

I am concerned with states and people and governors being used as punching bags when it's inaccurate, when there's "gaslighting" involved, etc. Looks like that all pretty much everything is.

Nobody has any credibility. Everyone has actively shred their credibility well before this global attack. Everyone is ****ing terrible, it's exactly the last ****ing thing normal people want during a time like this.

I would love to see a list of US political leaders who have credibility on this. And how their states/districts have handled the pandemic.

Maybe I’m completely out of touch, but from my 10,000 foot view of the state governors (I am ignoring the national government response because it has been and still is a slow-motion train wreck) I feel like Mike DeWine (R - Ohio) and Gavin Newsom (D - California) are doing credible jobs, are generally accountable to their mistakes, and have exhibited an ability to change course in the face of an evolving situation. I’m sure there are others, but those two from opposite sides of the aisle come to mind.

It was always, still is, and continues to be unreasonable to expect perfection when faced with a pandemic involving a novel virus we still don’t fully understand how it works, and I think the people who are at least trying deserve some benefit of the doubt (unlike, say, the Orange County CA school board who voted yesterday evening to send kids back to school in-person without a mask requirement; that’s criminally negligent behavior IMO).

I do think Newsom in particular might do well to answer tough questions about the setbacks California has endured following the state’s premature reopening, because that has so openly and obviously backfired. I suspect the honest answer which we’ll never get would have something to do with his obvious aspirations to run for President one day and not wanting to be known as the guy who shut down football in California. It’s no coincidence IMO that once the NFL made clear they weren’t changing their season schedule and subsequently the San Francisco 49ers started making noise about playing their 2020 home games outside of the state that Newsom and his administration began expediting the state’s reopening process.

Yes, I’m suggesting that football is so religiously powerful an institution in this country that no one with any power to do so wants to be the responsible adult in the room and say “no football during a pandemic, you morons”.

That you are crying that the media is picking on Arizona, Texas, and Florida, not because they are run by morons, but that they are GOP.

The fact that those three states make up 20% of the world’s new cases make them news. But by saying the media is picking on them, you hand wave away criticism.

He can correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s how I understood it.

I still believe the reason places like Texas Arizona and Florida are having high amount of high positive tests currently is because the heat there is keeping people indoors more. when it was cold in NY, NJ and Michigan they were indoors more. I know you can easily get corona outside but I'm definitely more leary of being indoors with others than outdoors. outdoors I can stay my preferred 40 feet away as opposed to a 6 foot minimum
