Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
Where was that common sense when people were saying the heat was going to kill the virus.
Some people have a million excuses why it’s not actually bad. Other get called arrogant and biased when pointing out what the data suggests will happen. And even though that stuff keeps happening as predicted, the same folks are here to hand wave it away.
As I said a couple months ago. Mostly, I’m just waiting to see how bad it has to get before we act. I’m kinda shocked that current conditions aren’t it. Seems like we need schools to open to kick off a really good Mel down.
Of course, schools will start and two weeks later the same folks will point out cases aren’t rising, and when they rise that hospitalizations are not rising, and when they rise that deathS are not rising, and when they rise that the hospitalizations and deaths are all misclassified.
So, what, maybe by Thanksgiving? Or do we play the same pattern again. If we stall long enough we can revive the heat killing the virus n the summer again, since past data no longer predicts future results.Comment

That couldn't be it, because I don't belong to any political party so I don't really give a **** about theirs. That you are crying that the media is picking on Arizona, Texas, and Florida, not because they are run by morons, but that they are GOP.
The fact that those three states make up 20% of the world’s new cases make them news. But by saying the media is picking on them, you hand wave away criticism.

Exactly. He’s saying that he doesn’t believe that to be true. That it’s a game far right trolls play to be “above the game.”
At least, I think that is what he means. I could be wrong.Comment

Well he can respond if he sees fit. Don't think it's right to attribute an explanation without one.Comment

Even if you give a bunch of slack--a whole textile factory's worth, and I think that's fair given the circumstances. Even if you do that, this situation might be the worst-managed situation in the entire history of situations.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
I mean you seem to constantly lack an ability to assign blame on institutions, organizations, individuals with any specificity.
For example if the House of Representative were to blame for some issue in particular and it could be shown that it actually were their fault specifically then it would be misleading to say that "Congress" is at fault. No, it isn't Congress' fault as a whole but the House of Representative's fault.
Be specific, call out those who need to be called out and let the chips fall where they may. Don't throw your hands in the air and blame everyone for everything.
Right now the South and California are getting hammered with Covid cases. So I'm going to focus on those places, and I'm not going to throw shade to New York or any other place that had a hard time handling the pandemic in the recent past just to "even things out".OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
Went to get my bottom braces put on this morning. The assistant cleaning my teeth tried talking to me about Covid. I've never met this person before so our rapport is minimal. We start fairly innocently talking about working from home, changes in eating habits, hobbies, etc. She mentioned baking and baking for some church members - which they apparently reopened churches around the middle of May. Anyway, she makes the comment along the lines of "its scary how fast they think they can shut everything down and control you." I went silent and started zoning out at that point. Not really a topic I want to do a dive deep into (which it felt like she was hankering for) and even less when I have somebody's arm in my mouth at 8:30 in the morning.
Of course she also quipped how "it doesn't make sense - nothing adds up" and then was telling me about her Dad (who apparently "works at UVA) and how he was telling her all the health officials know they shouldn't have shut anything down, but simply protected the elderly and let the young people get it.Last edited by Fresh Tendrils; 07-15-2020, 11:40 AM.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
Larry Hogan (R-Maryland) has handled this as well as anyone I have seen. He's the lead on NGA (National Governor's Association) and even though he's red, he's beefed with the President numerous times, to the point where he actually had the Maryland National Guard guard PPE.
It's funny (or sad) though dub, he recently said that he (Hogan) and the rest of the NGA had a great call with VP Pence a week or so ago and then the President came out and confused things (his words, not mine) lol.Last edited by KG; 07-15-2020, 12:21 PM.Comment

I just had my second child in June. Protests were happening at the time
We used a birth center. And it was only us there. Me, my lady, the midwife and her assistant.
Everything goes well. We have a healthy baby boy.
Within the hour of giving birth, the assistant was in the room just checking vitals or something, I said a joke about the election between Hillary and Trump. That wasn't directed towards either one showing no political stance (think I was making a Sophie's choice joke lol). That's literally all. And I was talking to my lady.
The assistant thought this was a time to deliver her All Lives Matter sermon in regards to the protests and the movement!
Feeling like this isn't a conversation we want to have RIGHT NOW, we tried to "Yea...uh huh. I feel you" our way out of the conversation. But she just kept going [emoji2365]
How can one not have the decency to know that "I maybe shouldnt talk about this here and now" I have no idea. You can't be that dense
You have a black father having his first black son just emerging into this world and will grow up to be a black man himself. And you have the temerity to give your All Lives Matter take in this moment and at this setting?

This is good, more of this. Its long overdue, but you just know there will be problems implementing it.
I saw some top replies to some tweets being like "I've been a longtime Walmart customer. I guess they don't want my business anymore."
It's like people just don't get it. They're turning some health advisory into something overly political or making it something they can openly oppose.
Can't imagine lengths people will go to in order to avoid this. If you don't have a mask, they give you one, but that's still too much for people. You're for sure gonna hear about confrontations at the door, and people taking their mask off the second they walk into an aisle away from employees.
I swear, one day someone could tell people they should be drinking more water, it's really good for you. And people will boycott water just for that.Comment
