When this hits Florida, and it will, they are going to be so screwed it's scary. With Florida's aging population and current hospital status, they will be burying the dead in mass graves.

China says no new local infections today. First time that's happened there since this started.

Hopefully it's ramping down in China ... and hopefully that means maybe we're a couple months away from it ramping down here. Although it's almost certainly going to get worse before it gets better here.

On average in my produce dept we do around $90,000 a week (Sunday-Saturday). Last week we did $117,000 and that was with things only really getting busy on Thursday night. So far this week after 3 days we are already at $62,000. This is only the produce dept. The store did over a million last week. It's freaking hard to comprehend.
The store i am at is always a busy store and of course more so during holidays but this is making holidays seem slow in comparison. I am glade right now that i have a lot of meat and food over all because i just happen to have went big shopping before things got crazy. Even though TP has been out for a while it really only started getting crazy last friday. I would say right now in 1 day i think we are doing like a normal 7 full week amount of sales and like 3 holiday amount of sales in 1 day. I do worry if this last for like another month+ with out things getting a lot better that i am going to end up not being able to get any thing when i do need a lot of food and am out of a lot of stuff.

Wow. This is an interesting piece of data. News coming out of Italy that 99+% of recorded fatalities have involved patients with pre-existing conditions.

          https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ess-italy-says

48.5% were classified as having "3 other illnesses." 25.6% with "2 other illnesses." 25.1% with "1 other illness."

More than 75% had high blood pressure. 35% had diabetes. 33% had heart disease.

The median age of those infected is about 60, but the median age of deaths is about 80. Only 17 people under 50 (out of 2500+) died.

A lot of people have high blood pressure. That's considered a preexisting condition?

EDIT: Let me rephrase that-that's considered a high risk category in regards to CV-19? That would include over 40% of this country.

Yeah that's insane. The number of people who have diabetes is also super high. I have it so now I'm more freaked out that I was. I hope I'm just worrying for nothing here. I'm 40 btw. So I think I would still fall into that "younger" category.

I'm pretty much self quarantining myself. But unfortunately my wife is a nurse at a nursing home and has to go to work.

So that freaks me out even more.

So, um here's a fun story about my town's Walmart

This might be the craziest story so far and it's in my town.

Forget politics, give these health care professionals protective gear-Credit to all of them for carrying on but that's too much of a burden for anybody.

That happening right now in Manila. Military blocking roads from crossing to other cities. Also controlling squatter areas since they don’t care and go where ever and have already spread in that area.

Thank goodness we have local places to order food. Keeping my stocks till they close down.

This is what the US doesn’t want to do, but we’re going to probably lose more people because of that hesitation. Our people have shown they won’t hunker down voluntarily.

China was a bit late on the jump, but also more aggressive in isolating people, and appear to be on the exit. Took 2-3 months, 8-10 weeks. We’re what, 2-3 weeks in? With less strict measures, but a bit faster on the uptake? So I see a similar if not longer, more drawn out period of this isolation. We’re going to be under this until Memorial Day, early summer at this point.

Talk about some Waking Dead type stuff...

Here in NYC since the mayor closed the schools on Monday, the streets have less and less people. Subways are emptier than I've ever seen.

Yesterday the governor signed an executive order. All employers must have 50% of their staff work from home.

Word from a family member within NYPD is if the numbers keep going up, there will be some kind of shelter in place order beginning on Monday.

Edit: I work with homeless teenagers, and I just got an email that at my site, a young person has tested positive for Covid-19.

I will be working from home and been told to monitor my health for the next 7 days for symptoms.
