What do you mean? I am just saying that most states have expanded testing a lot in the last few weeks, and so you are going to see more positive results as more tests are performed, even as the percentage of positive tests declines.

Nationwide, we are seeing around a 7% positive test rate now vs. 20%+ at times last month. However, we are now testing 300k/day vs. 100k/day. This contributes to a deceptive picture that doesn't show the case count dropping as much as it probably is (because less actual positive cases are being missed now vs. in April).

      Yup:
States and counties need to be able to increase testing without risking terrible headlines about a surge in cases (that only happened because they increased testing, but the article/headline doesn't mention it).

Until Thursday the highest number of deaths in a day in Texas was 50. Thursday had 58 and Friday 56.

I wish they would quit testing so many people because it's causing the deaths to rise too! [emoji57]

Which media outlets are encouraging states to not test as much?

I get all that, but there's a difference in not providing the right context and reporting facts actually discouraging testing.

I agree with you that this whole mess is a statistician's nightmare. And yes, number of tests should be noted with increased "positive" tests. But also worth noting that as test availability increases, declines in the percentage of positive tests doesn't necessarily mean things are getting better. A month ago in some places, you could only get a test if you had symptoms.....so the positive rates would be inflated compared to current rates.

How did they test you? Did they draw blood out of a vein or did they prick your finger? The finger prick tests are BS in my opinion and have a high chance at possibly giving a false positive.

I used a ski mask with tissue as a "filter" when doing small things around my place and was dying. I could barely breathe, it was awful. But still going to wear a real one once I head back to work.

Welcome to the new norm around here for awhile.

My wife and I went to Home Depot on Friday and it took us 10 minutes to get inside the store. Imagine that on a Saturday.

I received a call from my barber and she wanted to find out if I was interested in setting up a appointment for next Friday when they opened. There will be no one in the waiting area, so, they will call you from your car. Everyone wears a mask and no reading material. They also had peanuts in buckets and I'm sure that will go away. Also, no beard or mustache trimming.

                  And no cash transactions.

Found out early this morning that my office is closing and I'll be working from home full time.

Not entirely sure how I feel.

There are so many positives. Getting away from the annoying commute and not having to pay $14 a day to park will be huge pluses but I will miss a lot about going into the office.

It's also been strange learning how to manage a team remotely over the last couple weeks. Haven't quite grasped how to keep my team engaged from a virtual setting yet while still maintaining my managing style (very hands off). It's a very weird medium that I haven't quite been able to figure out yet.

My mom has recovered from Covid-19, and following a one-week stay at the hospital, has been sent back to her room at the nursing home facility. She'll be in a "quarantine" status - but that's kinda her entire life right now anyway. She spiked a fever of 104, but never had to take more than 4 liters of oxygen. She's now very weak and tired, but - she's getting her appetite back and is able to communicate much better now than a week ago. She's 68, so still relatively young. Dad is struggling emotionally, which has become my most difficult part - pulling him back daily from the emotional ledge he stands on. He has not been able to see her in over 2 months, and there is really nothing in sight that says he will anytime soon. The place has people stationed at the entrances, so no one gets in without any clearance. And I keep reminding him this is the right course of action. We all have unique stories of how this whole thing has impacted our lives. Close family members and those inside of our nursing home care facilities and dealing with a hell right now that I don't envy. Thanks for the prayers and kind words for my mom - we are grateful she is over this and on the path to recovery. Thank you.

Good to hear MK, my grandma just had her test taken this morning. We feel pretty good since the nursing home sent the employee home on May 8th and normally is a 7 to 10 day period of receiving the virus.

                              Now, we wait.

Everyone says they don't like or can't work from home.

I've found that I can work pretty well from home especially when there's silence. I'd love to drop the office entirely, work from home full time, and move to another state while doing so so that my money goes further. All our stuff is online anyway.

I like our crew though. Unique place. I don't (didn't?) particularly dread going in.
