No need to get smart and sarcastic Clay, I asked a valid question and you don't have an answer for it. If you say don't post those topics in there then fine, at least people will know ahead of time. Rather than having multiple locked threads in the "Entertainment" Forum for people in the community wanting advise and criticism on their "Music" from fellow community members.

Maybe it could have been done but thats not the decision that was made. Sully had a choice and he decided to make a drastic change to the forum and it was one that was needed.

Drastic is an understatement.

This truly ruins OS, it was the "community" that really made OS great, now that it is gone, it's just another forum.

If it's about specific Music... go for it.

If it's about you working on music... don't do it.

If you're not sure... err on the side of don't post it.

maybe its because i havent been in the EE much recently, due to working on some CH related stuff, but I never thought there was a problem. I guess you guys hid it well enough, until you blew the door down:. you gotta do what you gotta do. life will go on. waytogo:

I honestly do not have a reply to that. You make a very good point in terms of the rights of a donator to a cause.

But what about the issue of, for lack of a better term, customer support. I don't have the numbers at hand -- perhaps one of you admins do -- but wasn't the Everything Else board the most active board on OS? And if not the number one board, surely it was one of the top five. If something is in such high demand, why do away with it because of the acts of a select few? The majority of the posters who use the EE board did so in a respectful, rule-abiding fashion. I don't see how doing away with the forum completely is going to help the cause any at all. Like someone else pointed out above, all it is going to do is increase the number of off-topic posts made on the other topic-specific boards, leading to backlash over closed and deleted threads, which in turn leads to other bannings. It's inevitable. It is an internet message board, plain and simple. Rules are going to be broken, users are going to be banned. And, yes, members are going to get huffy and upset from time to time about something like this. This is, has been, and always will be the law of the land. Every decision is going to have both a positive and negative effect, there is no win-win scenario. Sure, this will get rid of the stupid threads on EE, but it will also enhance, like I said above, the number of off-topic posts elsewhere. The negative spin on this? A lot of posters, who have voiced their opinion in this thread, feel betrayed by this decision. Doing away with a popular product simply because there were a few minor deficiencies in it isn't always the best decision, as much as it may seem to be at a certain moment.

I disagree with the decision that has been made, obviously, but I suppose in the end there is nothing we, the posters who keep OS active, can actually do about it.

EDIT: Is there any way that we could at least get some of the more active threads (the Lost thread, a few music threads, etc.) at least brought back into circulation so that everything mentioned in those isn't completely gone? I would hope the entire board wasn't just deleted completely and is simply hidden and unavailable to the public for something exactly like this.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are irrationally reacting emotionally... but the Everything Else forum was not what made OS or the Community great. The mature, usually intelligent posters did... start acting like one again.

Come on, Acid. Dude... of all people... if you think this forum is going to all of a sudden suck because the EE forum is gone... come on.
