Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

Playing in WC/Legendary difficulty, using Orion's sliders on XBOX ONE:

Started in spanish 2nd division with Alcorcon. Managed to get to 1st Division in La Liga in the first season, and struggled to end up in the middle of the table in my second year.

From third season onwards, some of the young players I signed got good enough to bring the team to Europa League (or Euro League), but got my *** kicked in eight-finals.

In 4th season I managed to get a Champions League spot, and signed the mighty Benteke for my team

Now just starting my 5th season, Benteke got a 3 months injury, and played my first Champions league game vs Bayern Munich, which was a really epic game, where I started losing 2-0 and made an awesome comeback to get a 2-2 draw. But then, I lost 0-1 to Zaragoza on my own field

PS: I forgot to mention that there are some VERY good free agents that pop-up every season. Best tip to sign: wait for 1st transfer window day and look up for free agents: you'll find precious cheap jewels on there

      Drunkenferret's settings:

I made it 3 years into my manager career, currently at QPR. Currently testing his new 10 min settings with a VP, but controlling entire team at Middlesbrough in English Championship league, and international with Scotland. Having a blast so far with his 10 min settings, and use these in year 3 manager save as well. Or just drop one of the saves.

Drunkenferret's 10 min settings Brought new life into game where i can actually get somewhere in career, that the 15 min just didnt do.

VfL Wolfsburg keeps terminating my contract. I don't want to let go of all these studs I've found through the Youth Academy. I really wish I could turn off manager firing.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

I've been playing with Chesterfield in England's fourth tier. I originally wanted to take them all the way up, but I think I'm gonna play it more realistic. I may apply for a couple jobs in the Championship after this season and work my way up into a top tier job. At first, it was really rough playing with them, but it's become really fun. I may stick with them for another season, depending on the transfer purse I get. I'm slowly moving along in the FA cup, even though it makes it insanely difficult to keep energy up.

I don't care what anyone says about CPU cheating and all that. This game will never not be a blast to me.

Hello, I m ow this is unrelated but I need to ask one question:

Okay, so just finished my first season with Villareal on legendary. I finished 7th in the table, 1 point off 6th place, I thought at looking at this that I would not have qualified for Europa league because it is for teams that finish 5th and 6th, but yet I just looked at my calendar in the new season, and in august I have an Europa league match!! not complaining or anything, I'm very happy I qualified, but I would just like to know why? thanks

So spots 5 and 6 go to Europa. The team that won the Copa del Rey gets a spot in Europa as well. If the winner of the Copa is in the top 6, then the runner up gets the Europa spot. But, if the runner up is also in the top 6, then the Europa spot goes to the 7th place finisher in the league. Basically, Spain gets 7 spots in Europe, but the two teams in the Copa del Rey must have been in the top 6, sending you to Europa in the 7th spot.

Hell yeah. I get out of my chair when I score a big goal, or more frequently, waste a good chance. It's that good once you find your slider sweet spot. Had an amazing cup game earlier today that I tied in the 89th then won on PKs after missing my first two. Edge of the seat stuff...

Same. Still celebrate when a late minute goal is hit.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

Started a Manager CM with Peterborough United F.C. of League 1. Wanted to be able to take a team a few tiers down, all the way up to the Premier League. So I looked for teams in League 1 with a) decent kits b)a nice crest and c) a decent budget relative to the rest of the league. Settled on Peterborough.

My starting transfer budget was $2.6m. Not bad, I believe that was top-5 for League 1 teams. My goal given to me by the board was to finish mid-table and make it to the round of 32 in the "domestic cup," I'm not sure which cup they're referring to though. I assume it was the F.A. Cup? Never did figure that out, there's so many different cups under Tables.

To put my stamp on the roster, I ended up selling I think 2 players right at the beginning of the year to bolster my budget a little bit. For about $1m combined. Then I made a move for a striker, Nahki Wells of Bermuda. I bought him for $1.2m. He came in at a 66 at age 23. I was expecting slightly higher but it's OK, he's fast and promising (I wish I had a way to see his potential). He had a phenomenal year. I ended up playing him at CAM quite a bit because I accidentally found myself with an extra striker on the team sheet who needed playing time.

What happened was, I used the "Scout Future Star" from the catalogue, and due to me not really understanding the youth academy yet, I accidentally signed him to the senior squad right after he was found. He was only a 56. I realized my mistake and loan-listed him so he could play somewhere, but nobody came knocking. I didn't want him to sit on the bench and not progress, so I forced him into the starting lineup next to Britt Assombalonga, and moved Nahki Wells to CAM.

Speaking of Britt Assombalonga, he was tearing up the league, leading the league in goals. I started getting a lot of offers for him once the transfer window opened. $900k. $1.1m. $1.4m. It kept climbing. I didn't want to sell him. He was young and in phenomenal form. But I also knew that his value was probably at an all-time high. I was conflicted.

Meanwhile, while doing my own due diligence, I had scouted a CAM who I wanted and was only listed for $750k. I made an offer for $550k and they accepted. Now I found myself with a first team CAM and nowhere to play him. This allowed me to finally come to terms with selling Assombalonga.

A team offered $1.8m. On the last day of the transfer window. I countered with $2.5m and they accepted. I moved Wells back to striker and started the new guy at CAM. My squad was coming together nicely.

I also finally got my youth scouting network set up, using some of that $2.5m to hire a 3-star scout. Sent him to Brazil for 3 months and then Argentina for 6 months (he's still there).

The team ended up finishing 2nd in League 1 and gaining the automatic promotion. I actually wasn't sure if I wanted to be promoted yet, I figured I could build my squad for another year in League 1 before going up to the Champions League and getting my *** handed to me. But it looks like we'll be forced to get ready for primetime and avoid relegation.

I sped through the offseason because I was really excited to see my budget. I was sure they'd at least double the $2.6m of last season if they wanted me to be competitive in this new league. What did they give me? $3.2 million. C'moooooooon man. These teams are working with real budgets now for the most part. They want me to finish mid-table and once again, get at least to the round of 32 in the "domestic cup." Really wish they'd specify lol, I don't know enough about soccer to know which cup they're talking about. 99% of what I know about soccer I've learned from FIFA.

Anyways, excited for year 2, and really hoping to build a great youth squad so I can improve my team without needing to use much transfer money.

My "future star" that came in at a 56 (and improved to a 59 during the year) is coming in at a 62 to start the year. Other players showed 1 or 2 points of improvement. My team is incredibly young. If I can keep this core together we could be finding ourselves in the Premier League getting our **** kicked in before you know it.

Domestic cup is actually any of the English cups

                        FA cup
                        Capital One cup
                        JPT

All those count as domestic cups

Anybody know how you can get a financial takeover other than using the one in the catalog (since that's only 1 year; I want a permanent one)? I'm guessing you probably wouldn't get one unless you were in the Premier League? Or whatever the top tier league is in the nation you're playing in. Since I'm in the Champions league I'm guessing it wouldn't happen until I made it to the Premier league

Started a MM (10 minute halves/legendary) with Valencia over the weekend and currently sit at a respectable 4-4-0. Currently 2 points behind 3rd place Barcelona with a game in hand. Have 3 draws in the last 4 games, 2 of them coming on late game penalties given. Somehow though was able to beat Barcelona 3-2.

So far having a lot of fun even though I've been hit with injuries on the wings and lost Jonas for the entire season. Had to change my formation to a 4-4-2 from where I started earlier in the season with a 4-2-3-1. Currently don't have a healthy enough roster to make a the lather work.

Already have a plan to put a bid for Nani or Chicarito in the winter transfer window. Was debating to bring a player or two back from loan but don't want to pay the €3.5m fee.

Goal this is year is the rejuvenate Valencia and get us in the CL next season. So far Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are dominating and Barca will be up there as well while Levante and Sevilla are right there with me so it will be difficult.

I started a new MM today, trying to go with the managerial career aspect (I typically just start with Spurs and play it out with them). But with this one I'm going to be roaming a bit more, starting with IK Start in Norway (they have a player with the same last name as me).

Hoping to get into the Europa League within 2 seasons.

Well, I forgot to mention that I don't play MM games. I find the CPU extremely boring. I tried sliders, but I don't have the patience to play a 30 minute game and take about a month to get through a season.

That being said, Season 1 at Start finished in 5th place (and qualifying for the EL qualifiers), which pleased the board. I bought Ben Amos for £300k in January and signed Mix Diskerud to a pre-contract and Anthony Martial (Monaco) for the upcoming season.

Edit: I'm facing Everton in my EL qualifier. Eeek.
