Hi Guys,

I have just picked up FIFA16 (I'm a massive Pro guy and love it as-well) after playing and loving the demo. I have not played a FIFA since the France 98 version! I have heard all sorts of views that the 1.05 patch ruined the game so I have not installed it. I played one game so far and it was just like the demo so I am happy with that.

My question is, by not installing patch 1.05 what am I missing out on? I briefly saw that I could not use the matchday page (don't even know what that is?) and obviously can't compete online but that is no problem as I am strictly an offline player.

I am most looking forward to the career mode, can I still play that without the patch?

As an off-line player I think the most annoying drawback is that you will not be able to download teams updates (transfers, formations, ect... ).

Yeah, that is kind of annoying but as a Pro player I am used to manually updating everything anyway so I don't mind doing the squads and formations myself. Thanks for your help.

What platform are you playing on -console or pc?

I play on PS4 and with it, you can connect to the internet, download the latest patch and try it for yourself. Whilst still connected to the internet, when you play a match, it will do the match day updates (ie. download all the squad updates, etc).

Then, if you don't like how patch 1.05 has utterly ruined the gameplay (my opinion ), you can uninstall the game from PS4, disconnect the PS4 from the internet and then reinstall the game whilst still disconnected from the internet (to avoid having the patch downloaded and applied).

The good thing is, even though you uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, it seems to remember all the last squad updates, etc, you downloaded and your controller settings, etc, so you can play the original version of the game with up to date squads. So uninstalling and reinstalling is really not a major hassle.

One thing to note is that if you do make manual changes to team formations, custom tactics, etc, and then decide to reconnect to the internet whilst playing, as well as attempting to download the patch (which you can intervene and stop), it will do the match day update and overwrite all of your custom team settings, which can be annoying (unless someone knows of a way to turn that off ?).

Pro Clubs is the only mode I play, and since the Patch the Cpu players are much more useful

The same thing happened to me the other day right before they showed how much time would be added on to the end of the first half. The only player I could control was my GK, and not well. Once the half ended, the second half played normally like nothing happened. It was very strange.

Among all the other things that this patch has done to make game worthless, I've also notice that on crosses or corners the players don't react correctly. They keep running forward and then have to backpedal back to the ball for a fall away header... Which sometimes as weak as they are still reaches the net if the game has predetermined you should score.

I feel as though the game is purely smoke and mirrors hiding a horrible game and this patch exposes/unhides all of the issues more so than the past.

Also on world class does anyone feel like your players are nerfed especially as far as speed goes? I feel like every player on the cpu team can run down my fastest players every single time. Meanwhile, I can't have my faster player keep up with cpus player dribbling even though I know that player is 10+ points slower than mine.

The game definitely has a forced competitive balance issue when you get to WC difficulty. Regardless of the quality of the user controlled team compared to the CPU team, the game forces you into a close/competitive match. It feels impossible to beat any team 4-0.

It also has to do with a lack of realistic tactics. CPU teams play the same (short, ultra accurate passes) without regard for realistic, context based changes to tactics. Lower division teams play the same against Barcelona as they do against similar quality teams. It's one of the things PES got right this year, but I digress.

You could go back down to professional difficulty, but unfortunately you'll have the reverse problem, and it'll be too easy to beat superior teams. Even with manual passing shooting. I've tried it all lol.

I do agree with most things here. But I also must say that sometime this game feels awesome. then all of the sudden, it changes mentality and bad teams play like superhumans. That´s when I usualy turn the off the game.

World Class may feel a bit unfair at times, but it´s the way to go. Pro get´s too easy after a while and Legendary just isn´t right. If you think world Class has your players nerfed down, then try Legendary. It´s just soo unrealisticlly unbalanced. I do feel it on WC but not to the point that disapoints me. In fact, my fast players can chase down and stop the attackers in space. WC is not an impossible level. Sometimes it´s just unexpectable. I can loose with lower teams, and then I can win surprisingly against a top team. like I didi my last season against Manc. City, 7-1 in a final match, group phase of the Europa League, and decisive one! Never did it again, but I can manage to win some matches by 3 or even 4.

I already had this feeling before but yersterday I just confirmed it. I was playing my career mode and the pace of the game was just perfect. After a couple matches I turned the console off (instant start mode on). today I restarted the console and imediatly started the game were I had left it, and the next match was simply a mess, ultra fast CPU reactions, perfect first touches all over the place, bullet passes all over the field, etc etc. I got furious how a game can feel so good and then the next day it´s like a broken game.
I got out of my save and restarted it again (wihtout leaving the game) and it was the same bull*#$%. So I turned the game off, and then I turned the console off. A couple hours later I got back and restarted everything and bam, the game was a charm again. I was playing the same career game as in the firts time, and it all felt so diferent... CPU bad touches (I play with high first touch error both for me and CPU), the ball was very slow, so the overall pace of the game was way lower then previously. It sure makes a hell of a diference and it´s so enjoyable this way.

I dunno why it happens (continuing the game after a instant restart from the last session, or not being able to connect to EA servers, whatever) but the game doesn´t feel the same to me all the times. When it´s fast, I really can´t enjoy it, I hate it. But with the low pace, it´s a wonder for me. I´ve been noticing this for months now so it´s not placebo.

I just pullec the disc out and threw it against the wall. I hate this game with these updates, im done. And ive bought every fifa since 99. Ive never had less fun with a fifa game then i do with this

This is so true. I threw mine in the trash. Never done that with any other game

I started to think of this game like this...

If I didn't know anything about football EA would teach me this ;

When your team has the ball the objective for all other players on your team is to run really far from it and stand behind a defender
I think you get a point when you do that

Also if there is a loose ball you are supposed to run away from it
Because you get -2 points if you win a loose ball

The objective for the opponent is they have this guy that stands in the goal and you are supposed to shoot it so he can make spectacular saves

If you have the ball the other team is supposed to run and knock you down and take it

When they have the ball you are supposed to hop backwards and take bad angles. I think you get 3 points for doing that or at least the game makes me think it should.

When their goal blocking man kicks the ball it is what is called a fast break. What happens is he kicks it to the head of the other man in the circle on the field. All his friends sprint upfield and he heads it directly to their feet so they can run freely at your goal.
I think you get 7 points for letting them do that but they get 11 points if they score, so be careful and try to stop them by keeping the man you control from hopping the wrong direction.

If you get a chance to kick the ball at the other teams goal you get 2 points I think for kicking it into your own player man who ran in front of you to block it

Soccer is a game of friendship and you are supposed to let the other team have lots of space on the field but a mysterious part of the game is that the other team isn't nice like your team and will jump on any loose balls and also stand in front of all your players rudely
