Very disappointing. Screw EA. It's going to take a lot for me to buy any of their games next cycle. They have all fallen so far. And now no WC game because they want to push the WC mode of FUT instead.

I still think there will be a standalone game and maybe a Dlc for fifa 18. That way they can earn more money with the new game and microtransactions with UT in fifa.

I hope captain your country with online co-op is present.

I've been checking the EA FIFA Twitter daily to see if they've said anything. Still nothing, nor have any Admins commented on a thread about it in the EA FIFA forums.

Like y’all I think there will be a stand-alone game. The Spanish and Dutch language guys have confirmed they did the sound for the game. I don’t think it’s gonna be just DLC

Either way, it was this time in Feb in 2014 when they announced the stand alone titles for PS3 and 360. I’d imagine we’d know sooner rather than later. Unless EA plans to wait until the new fiscal quarter in March

If it's just a DLC then they won't feel the need for an announcement months out. A standalone game would have to be announced soon, yeah.

now why EA update England collar? in my opinion they are going to add new England kits to the game with World Cup DLC so they change the collar.

I really hope I'm mistaking I really really want stand alone game.

I really, really doubt it, especially if it was just announced some of the jerseys like England, and so on. I think it will be a standalone game (or digital download off the respective stores, PS Store, XBOX Live, Switch, etc...). I am also a little shocked that it is not been announced officially as of yet and we are in the middle of February. I predict also an add-on for the FIFA18 game for Ultimate Team and so on.

I think my prediction that all 211 teams will be in the game in some form or another (the 209 that was in the qualifying tournaments and the 2 that entered but was disqualified from the tournament), I think there will be no way it will be an add-on because licenses from individual teams for the FIFA games will have to be involved here as well. I say separate games for that reason alone.

I always feel every World Cup year that the Cup game released is better than that year's FIFA. I own all the cup games going back to 2006 and to be honest, I'm more likely to dig those out than old FIFA titles. They're historic teams and club football teams change so often that I think the nostalgia level is higher if you like world football. World Cup 2014 is still a blast and there are several modes that are really fun.

I find it strange that EA didn't release World Cup 2014 on the then "newer" consoles. Just like WC 2006, it was the perfect opportunity to showcase the new consoles. Now they haven't even announced a WC 2018 game. Considering the fact that EA thrives on hype, I'm not very confident in this game.

Could it have something to do with USA not qualifying? I wonder if they had been working on some kind of "Longshot" mode where you take an American player to the WC and had to scrap it at the last hour...

Well FIFA is made by EA Vancouver so they couldn't care less what happens to the US team, plus the US represents a very small fraction of where FIFA is bought every year, so I doubt it. Knowing EA, it's probably that they're talking to FAcebook and the other social media companies about how best to monetise any Cup game release to cash in on people sharing game videos online. It probably has nothing to do with the readiness of a game. I think a FUT add-on has been talked about.
