    Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    Yeah, I've been trying to work him into the lineup, and he's subbed in a game or two...

    Right now at RM/RW I've got Martin Harnik, Sercan Sararer and Rojas. I'm hopeful that I can sell off one of the two and keep Rojas as, at the least, a very capable sub.

        Press Conference

        Q: Strong start to the new challenge of the Football League 1. You are sitting 2nd in the table which comes as a surprise to many that had you has a potential relegation club. This early in the season it's hard to put much input into the table though, is this a good representation of what we can expect from this team? Or will we see the results regress to the mean?

        A: We came in prepared for league play knowing that it would be a higher challenge. The additions to the team have been key factors in providing these results and I couldn't be happier with the squad. I think that this form is something that we will be able to maintain at a consistent level. The players impress me each day in training, and that is translating to success in league play so far.

        Q: Speaking of the newcomers. What has been your impressions of them so far?

        A: They are providing exactly what I had hoped for so far. They have really elevated us to become a quality League 1 team so far. Hussey, Grimmer, and Ellis have been great on defense so far as we are currently leading the league in least goals allowed. On the other end Molinero, Brockie, and Thomas have been a very potent strike force. I think we have set ourselves up for a run at a successful season.

        Q: You have advanced in both the Capital One Cup as well as the J. Paint Trophy. While one was a old-fashioned beat down, the other was a penalty shootout thriller. How do you expect your squad to perform in cup play this season?

        A: We were very excited to advance in both cup matches so far, and in very different fashions. We look forward to the chance to move on in the cup, but we know that it will only get harder from here on out. One thing our supporters can count on though is that we will always go out there and play inspired football.

          Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

          December

          Southend United 2-1 Leicester City
          James 54', Futács 88'
          Nugent 67'
          Southend United faced Leicester City in a battle for a semi final spot in the Capital One Cup for the first match of December. The first half had some fans sleeping in their seats as both sides were comfortable just passing the ball around, knowing fully that a mistake would see them knocked out. However, Southend came out from half time firing on all cylinders and could've scored 3 goals had it not been spectacular saves from Schmeichel in the Leicester City net. For all his brilliance however, Southend went up 1-0 after Luke James was sent through into space behind the defensive line. The forward ran and powered the ball into the net. The Shrimpers did not let up and continued launching attack after attack at the Championship side. They attacked too much however and left too much space for Knockaert to run and set up Nugent for a simple finish to make it 1-1. Both sides now attacked with renewed vigor and both keepers were forced to make some beautiful saves, with Bentley in particular stopping a shot with his shoulder. Controversy struck in the 88th minute after Futács scored the winner and the goal stood despite replays showing the Hungarian had been offside when he received the ball. Paul Konchesky was sent off after arguing with the referee and reportedly spat in his face. Southend United advanced to the semi finals.

          Southend United 3-0 Peterborough
          Jolley 13', Atkinson 32' 41'
          From one cup match to the next as Southend United faced Peterborough in the F.A Cup. Darren Ferguson had talked up his side's chances of progressing and going as far as to call Surajreet9 a "weak manager". That all changed by the end of the 90 minutes as Southend dominated a shoddy Peterborough team and could had more had it not been for Olejnik. Southend opened up the scoring early on through Jolley as he stole the ball off of a defender and shot past a helpless Olejnik. Atkinson, usually more of a bench player, was given a chance to impress and that is exactly what he did, scoring twice to round off the match. He first latched on to a Jolley pass and tapped it in before blasting the ball into the back of the net just 9 minutes later. Peterborough had no shots throughout the entire match.

          Oxford United 0-3 Southend United
          James 18' 24' 60'
          Luke James was the star of the show as Southend United defeated Oxford United 3-0 to extend their lead at the top of the table. The 18 year old had been advised to work with Freddy Eastwood to improve his goal scoring and that was what happened, scoring a perfect hat trick to down Oxford. James first scored after Anthony Straker burst down the left wing and delivered the stunning cross for the forward to head into the net before scoring in nearly identical circumstances for the second and third goals, robbing the defenders of the ball and finishing with first his left foot then his right foot. After he scored his third goal, he ran toward the touchline and high fived Eastwood. James was the man of the match for his performance.

          Southend United 4-0 Portsmouth
          James 35' 38' 44', Futács 71'
          Consecutive hat tricks at just 18 years of age? Luke James has made some of the Premier League elite sit up and take notice of him as he scored another hat trick to decimate second placed Portsmouth. Portsmouth were regarded as favorites coming into the match but as with every team Southend face, there are no favorites because anything can happen. Southend took a while to get started as Portsmouth pressed and harried, allowing the Shrimpers no time on the ball and forcing many saves out of Bentley in the opening 30 minutes. Despite the strong start, Luke James scored with a first time shot outside the ball after being set up by Futács. Portsmouth fell apart after that goal and the forward took full advantage, scoring just 3 minutes later with a tap in after Futács' shot had been rebounded. James finished off his hat trick just before half time, hitting a powerful ground shot after Atkinson's header down. Futács rounded off the scoring with a simple finish to obliterate Portsmouth.

          Northampton 1-4 Southend United
          Futács 19' 28', Garrero 45', Leonard 71'
          Marquis 13'
          Southend United recorded their second 4 goal game as they thrashed Northampton away. Marquis opened up the scoring after a sideways header as opposed to a diving header, which caught Bentley off guard and put Northampton up 1-0. Southend weren't down for long as just 6 minutes later, Márko Futács found himself on a breakaway and smashed the ball into the back of the net. Futács scored the go ahead goal after Ravenhill was adjudged to have brought down James in the box and the Hungarian duly converted, powering the ball into the top left corner. Garrero wrapped up a miserable half for Northampton and scored a wonderful long shot to put Southend 3-1 up. Ryan Leonard ended Northampton's hopes with a brilliant run and finish into the top right corner.

          Southend United 2-1 Bury F.C
          Clifford 32', Futács 74'
          Mayor 87'
          Surajreet9 was unable to attend the match due to familial reasons and entrusted coaching responsibilities to Freddy Eastwood for the match.

          Hartlepool 0-1 Southend United
          Futács 43'
          Southend United won the match after a simple goal from Márko Futács. The 6'5 striker ran clear of the opposition defense and slotted easily past a rushing Flinders. The match itself was called boring by Surajreet9 because both teams just didn't have opportunities to score. Southend and Hartlepool had a combine 3 shots at the end of the game.

          Southend United 2-0 Wycombe Wanderers
          Gomis 23', Futács 51'
          Southend United defeated Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 on New Years Eve to enter the January transfer window and end the month unbeaten. Gomis opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after he found space in the box to blast a header into the back of the net from a corner. Márko Futács scored yet another goal to ensure Surajreet9 entered January with only signings on his mind.

          Transfer list leaked
          An exclusive from an insider at Southend United has given the public a list of players manager Surajreet9 hoped to sign for the club. Matthew Špiranović, Aaron Mooy, Sammy Moore, Macauley Chrisantus, Tarik Çamdal, and Terry Gornell are all targets for the manager in the upcoming transfer window. The source, who has refused to be named, has said "Surajreet9 are trying to get most of these players on pre-contracts. Terry Gornell is expected to be the only monetary signing Southend make throughout the whole window. Surajreet9 is expected to fund the moves for these players with the sales of Anthony Straker, Julián Garrero and Julian Bennett, although Bennett may leave on a pre-contract himself. Other players at the club are not expected to leave but the club is expecting offers for Márko Futács who has had a fantastic season so far, Luke James as well. Ryan Leonard and Dave Bentley are also reported targets for many clubs. It is unclear who Surajreet9 will sign if any of these four players leave the club. I suppose we will find out in the January transfer window."

          Thoughts
          Well, those are my targets for the January transfer window. I just played through January earlier on and you guys will be surprised just how many transfers happened. Overall, I'm happy with my team right now. My forward line is doing well but Eastwood is being replaced by Gornell, who has done well for Cheltenham Town in game so I decided to try him out. Špiranović, Mooy and Chrisantus were ideas from a Youtuber called the MasterBucks so I decided to try and get these players into the club as well. It's unoriginal but idk. I hope you folks don't mind. You guys can also expect a MASSIVE update for January. I would like to thank you Chico for the idea of Moore. I tried him out on kickoff and he is awesome in protecting the back four or five in my case lol. Till the next update and if you have any feedback, I would be happy to hear it

            Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

            I go away for three days and suddenly there's like 20 pages to read. You guys need to get outside, seriously. So much to catch up on, so let's see how best to do this...

            First of all, no Ronaldinho for me. Turns out Malaga players aren't that valuable on default squads, so I won't be able to afford a couple of other players I really need, so I'll write in a storyline about Ronny failing his medical or something.

            Tex, congrats on winning the league with Morecambe. Nice start to the new season as well.

            Chico, WELCOME TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE.

            Vrabbit, that 85-rated Paredes in your side looks like a jackpot waiting to be cashed in. I hope you resist the inevitable temptation. Also, nice signing in Itandje for Dagenham. Should do you well.

            Surajreet, I'm enjoying the Southend updates. Keep up the good form!

            Simppu, seemed like a nice choice with Inter, though for the sake of argument, Mourinho couldn't have had a bad season with Chelsea since 2013-14 was his first back with us. But good for you having planned to keep Zanetti, I'm doing the same thing with Duda at Malaga. Glad to see you chose Bilbao in the end.

            JD, nice work with Hoffenheim but a bit too much bold in those updates, makes it harsh on the eyes. How's Firmino as a forward? Not a playmaker, just in terms of scoring/assisting.

            Tauter, well done with that Supercoppa. I love seeing anyone, and I mean ANYONE, beating Juventus at ANYTHING.

            Maelstrom, Stuttgart is a really nice side. I was considering them before settling on Malaga. Glad to see you've invested in scouts, I can never bring myself to do that until I've bought enough players.

            RSG, nice job with Porto. Shame about the cup, but the league is really what counts, no? Also, nice job explaining the Athletic cantera, you saved me from having to do it again.

            Jwetson, doing a good there with Freiburg. Keep it up and you'll be in the UCL next season!

I always offer a 3-year deal with the money they want and then they deny the offer stating they weren't offered the length they requested and that they will hold off on negotiating at this time. They never follow up and the issue just disappears. Does this happen to anyone else or how do you guys deal with that stuff?
            You know what I've found? If someone's asking for a raise and his morale goes to 'unhappy', just offer him whatever terms, role and length he wants. Just getting the offer will reset their morale. Then go into your budget and put it all into wages, so you have no budget for the signing-on fee. They become happy and then say something like, "I understand the club cannot afford my new deal but I am happy to keep negotiating."

            Good fix considering how unrealistic it is. You don't actually get 5-7 players asking for improved terms, or the same lad asking twice in 2-3 seasons. IRL, clubs only hand out maybe 2-3 extensions or raises a year unless it's for youngsters at a big club, or for a particularly gifted group like Arsenal did with their British players in summer 2013.

                I found a real gem in Trent Sainsbury during my Brighton career. I'm not too fond of buying the same players in every different career, but this guy is tough to say no to. Just a couple of million gets you a lad with a 4-star weak foot who's good anywhere in defence, really pacey, and quite a top tackler. Capable of hitting a high 70s overall with important stats in the mid to high 80s.

                  Awesome career so far! Terry Gornell is into his 3rd year with me and of course he's currently the clubs top scorer. Your squad is starting to look like my Wimbledon lol glad to hear Moore worked out for you. Like I said he was vital in my squad but he demanded a transfer my first season. Wouldn't have let him go otherwise and most likely would still be the club vice captain.

                      I'm really confused on this whole regen thing. How do you know when a certain player's regen is on the game? Is it when they retire and if so, how do find when a player retires?

                        WIM: Midson 31'
                        A huge surprise coming out of Kingsmeadow as the Wimbledon "B" team defeated Olympiakos in the first match of the group stage. Chavez fielded an alternative lineup to rest his stars for the league and they did not disappoint. In fact, youth academy prospect Mario Ruiz played an outstanding match which might just be enough to get into the primary lineup. Wimbledon have struggled finding the right players in the 3-5-2 midfield and this young, homegrown lad from Mexico might just be the answer. Jack Midson has officially announced that he will be retiring at the end of this season, but the fans will be hoping he takes it back as he played a great match at striker and proved that he still has goals! Jack Baldwin also played a great match, and might be pushing for a spot in the primary 11 as well.

                        AFC Wimbledon 1 - 1 Manchester United
                        MUN: Fellaini 88'
                        WIM: Fenlon 90'
                        Wimbledon faced the league leaders but went toe to toe for 90 minutes. Manchester United's new signing, Edinson Cavani, was hoping for revenge as he remembers Wimbledon eliminated his then club PSG from the Europa qualifying round last season, but Ryan Tafazolli quickly reminded him why he couldn't score in that match. Even though Cavani still hasn't been able to score on Wimbledon in 3 matches, he was still United's best player on the field leaving everything on the pitch. The draw benefitted Wimbledon but hurt United, who have now dropped to 3rd place on the league table.

                        Capital One Cup:
                        AFC Wimbledon 1 - 0 Colchester City
                        WIM: Harvey 90'
                        A very close match that could have gone either way but AFC Wimbledon came out victorious. Tyler Harvey, who has just recently lost his starting spot with the primary lineup, scored an amazing left footed shot from outside the box right before the final whistle. Wimbledon's youth goalkeeper, Adam Cowie, debuted with the club in this match and made some great saves. The 17 year old from Scotland saved Wimbledon a couple times. Definitely a player to keep an eye on.

                        West Ham United 0 - 2 AFC Wimbledon
                        WIM: Gornell 38' 75' (PEN)
                        Wimbledon have achieved barely their second win of the season over a West Ham that was completely dominated. #10 Terry Gornell opened the scoreline and humiliated his markers continuously throughout out the match. Terry Gornell managed to get 8 out of 10 shots on target, the most any Wimbledon player has ever had in a single match. Overall Wimbledon had 15 shots, 10 of which were Gornell's. After selling their star striker Andy Carroll to Borussia Dortmund this past transfer window, West Ham have struggled to get out of the relegation zone. January couldn't come soon enough for them.

                        Europa League:
                        AFC Wimbledon 2 - 2 VfL Wolfsburg
                        WOB: Scheidhauer 19' De Bruyne (PEN) 67'
                        WIM: Gornell 35' Hewitt 90' (Worner - Red Card 65')
                        The Southwestern Londoners are sharing a group with the German squad again, and once again their matches are outstandingly close. Wolfsburg opened the scoreline from a defensive error but Wimbledon star Terry Gornell was able to equalize before the half. Luke James and Terry Gornell were ripping the Germans apart with swift counter attacks and it looked like Wimbledon could get a victory, until goalkeeper Ross Worner was sent off for a late dive during a 1 on 1 not realizing his defender had already stabbed the ball away. Wimbledon fans were at the edge of their seats as they saw young goalkeeper Adam Cowie warm up to make his European debut with huge pressure on his shoulders. Once Cowie stepped on the field he got into position to face Wolfsburg's De Bruyne in a penalty shot. De Bruyne stepped up, locked eyes with the rookie goalkeeper, and shot to his left... And Cowie saved it!!! What a debut from the 17 year old!! The ball went out for a throw in and Wolfsburg immediately wanted to get back into action. The Germans were passing the ball around Wimbledon's box when Jack Baldwin made a childish tackle and caused another penalty. Two penalties in two minutes! De Bruyne stepped up again, this time with added pressure having lost his duel with Cowie previously. Cowie dove in the same direction as before, but De Bruyne chipped it right down the middle. Even with 10 men Wimbledon refused to back down, pushing forward each time they had the ball. In stoppage time Cowie made a great save to keep Wimbledon alive. He quickly gave the ball to Luke Moore who sent it to Gornell right away. Gornell played a through ball to Chris Arthur who sped past the tired german defense with his fresh legs and challenged the keeper to a 1 on 1. Instead of going for glory himself, he passed the ball to Elliott Hewitt who just had to tap the ball into the open goal and tied the match! Wimbledon with a man less were able to secure a point to stay alive in the Europa League.

                        FIFA WC Qualifiers

                        Greece 1 - 2 Scotland
                        GRE: Mitroglou 11'
                        SCO: McCormack 35' 37'
                        Chavez gave Ross McCormack a chance to prove himself in a 4-3-3 False 9 and he responded by giving Scotland the victory! Chavez had stated when he first signed that he believed Scotland were underperforming because the previous manager was not calling up the right players and named McCormack as one of them.

                        Scotland 5 - 2 Turkey
                        TUR: Adin 6' Turan 45'
                        SCO: Bannan 8' McCormack 24' 87' Armstrong 36' 60'
                        Barry Bannan, another player who had been left out of the Euro list by the previous manager, was given an opportunity by Chavez and he too responded with several goal chances and an early goal. Looking forward to the upcoming match against Finland, Chavez has practiced a 4-4-1-1 Attack formation instead of the 4-3-3 False 9 in order to have Johnny Russell on the field with Ross McCormack at the same time. Scotland's attacking third is the least of our worries, the problem is with the defense and the goalkeeper David Marshall in particular, who hasn't looked confident in Scotland's goal.

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        Internal competition at Wimbledon's camp has been very close lately, resulting in several changes to the starting 11. This is the most recent lineup Chavez has been using:
                        Youth Academy
                        Craig May RB (44-54, 73-91)
                        Right back from Scotland standing at 6'5" at only 16 years of age. From what we've seen of him with the U-17, he appears to be a defensive minded fullback. He will have to adapt to Chavez's offensive playing style or switch positions if he wants to be called up to the senior team.
                        Dean Rhodes LB (53-61, 84-94)
                        6'6" Left-Back from Scotland only 15 years old. He too appears to be a defensive winger, which doesn't fit in Chavez's style of play.
                        Mark Watt GK (50-64, 74-94)
                        This 15 year old from Scotland took Adam Cowie's place as the U-17 goalkeeper, with many saying that he's actually better than Cowie was at this age.
                        Scott Moore CDM (41-51, 77-94)
                        This 15 year old from Scotland will have plenty of opportunities as soon as he turns 16, since his position is one that Wimbledon is very short on.
                        Ross Christie ?? (44-54, 71-91)
                        We are still trying to learn more about this Scottish 15 year old, but from what we've seen he's been playing as a midfielder and centre back for the Wimbledon U-17 squad.
                        ***Currently scouting in Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland, but scout in Scotland has been the most productive***
                        Thanks for Reading!
                          APRIL:
                          BUNDESLIGA
                          Hertha 4–2 Freiburg
                          Mlapa requested to play even scoring a superb equaliser against Schalke, and I played Willems at LB to try and boost his morale. I got off to a bad start after a poor pass enabled Hertha to break, with Ademilson squeezing the ball underneath Ortiz to give them the lead. My casual, slack play continued, and I was 2 down just 4 minutes later with Ben-Hatira finishing off on a rebound. I reacted much better the 2nd time, and got myself back in the game after some lovely work up the left from Willems and Ontivero resulted in the Argentinian slotting the ball in the corner. I went out in the 2nd half with a completely attacking mind-set, but I couldn’t break through the sturdy Hertha defence. But in the 74th, Willems delivered a corner, and the substitute Leitner was in acres of space, heading home to level the score after I was down 2-0 early on. I went for the winner, but paid a costly price in the 80th minute after Hertha broke away and regained their lead just 5 minutes after losing it. In my worst defensive display of the season, Ademilson grabbed his 2nd and Hertha’s 4th to give me a resounding loss, and a potential blow to securing Champions League football.
                          Freiburg 0–0 Schalke
                          A repeat of the semi-final clash promised much and one which could have caused some serious consequences for either side should they have lost. I was back to full strength bar Sneijder and Schalke fielded the same eleven that played in the cup match. It was such a closely contested game, with the 1st half goalless without much happening, and the 2nd half more open but with the same result. I think both sides were more afraid of losing rather than winning.
                          Koln 1–7 Freiburg
                          I had some fantastic news before this game, and that was that Sneijder had returned. Although he was on full fitness, I stuck him on the bench just for realism because who really starts their first game back after 2 months out injured? After drawing at home against Koln earlier on in the season, I was seeking revenge and Jurgen Locadia was particularly involved right from the off. He had the ball in the net twice in the first 17 minutes, but the 1st had been ruled out. Still I had an early advantage. I then conceded one of the awful goals ever. The ref gave them a free kick (which was soft) about 20 yards out. They hit the bar with a great effort, but instead of it going out like it should do, it went 30ft in the air, came down virtually on the goal line for somebody to head it in. I was not happy because I had started brilliantly. Despite my complete dominance, it was level at the break, but it didn’t take long for me to go back in front. A fluke of a goal as the goalkeeper’s clearance hit Locadia on the ball, allowing him to tap into an empty net for his 2nd of the game. 2 minutes later, I had a 3rd as Locadia won it from deep, slipped it into Holtby who squared it for Ontivero to easily convert. I was awarded a penalty just 5 minutes later after Locadia was recklessly brought down by the goalkeeper. He stepped up for the hat trick but the keeper saved it. Fortunately I did score on the rebound with Xhaka though. Then came the moment that all Freiburg fans had been waiting for. The return of Wesley Sneijder. Danny Hoesen came on with him, and set up Sidney Sam for my 5th goal of the afternoon after a floated ball was finished emphatically by the German winger. Maroh then put the ball into his own net when he couldn’t manoeuvre himself out the way of a pacey Alex Telles shot giving me a 6-1 lead. 3 minutes after that, Sneijder had his 1st assist since his injury after his corner was headed home from Ginter, who in the process collected his 5th of the season. It finished 7-1 which not only was very convincing, but also gave me a huge boost in terms of goal difference should it become that tight at the end of the season.
                          Freiburg 1–0 Dortmund
                          This was another massive game in my fight for Champions League football. It was 2nd against 3rd and with Bayern already Champions with 4 games left to spare, I was hoping the Dortmund wouldn’t have much to play for considering they had pretty much guaranteed a top 4 finish already. I decided to remain unchanged, with Sneijder once again on the bench. The 1st half was a tactical midfield battle, with few chances materialising for either side. So I opted to bring Sneijder on at half time and what a move. Within a minute, he played a delightful lofted through ball to Locadia, who rounded Hart before slotting it into an empty net. The game remained even until a Dortmund onslaught for the last 15 minutes, but my defence rode the storm to give me a precious victory over a very strong side.
                          Nuremberg 1–2 Freiburg
                          After a fantastic home win against Dortmund, I was looking to follow it up with a win on the road against a side that I narrowly beat early on in the season. I took the lead from a rebound goal thanks to a diving header from Sneijder after the keeper saved Locadia’s powerful effort. I had the 1 goal advantage at half time, but just 2 minutes into the 2nd period Nuremberg equalised from a header. I responded well though, and in search of another 3 points, Locadia continued his fine form by smashing in off the post in the 68th minute. Despite some pressure from Nuremberg towards the end, I was able to hold and claim the victory which me a place in next seasons UEFA Champions League.
                          Standings at the end of April (most sides have played 32 games)
                          Bayern 83 points
                          Freiburg 68 points
                          Leverkusen 65 points
                          Dortmund 64 points (played 31)
                          Schalke 59 points
                          Hamburg 56 points
                          SQUAD REPORT: I started the month very poorly, only taking 1 point from a possible 6, but some fine form from Locadia and the return of Sneijder transformed my fortunes around. I’m beginning to draw up a shortlist of positions that I want to strengthen and a goalkeeper is definitely one of them. My defence showed great resolve against Dortmund, indicating to me that they are capable of succeeding in the big time. The midfield I quite like but I might look for a box to box player in the window. Sam is ok, but I may flog a reserve winger, use Sam as a sub and bring a first team quality winger. Locadia’s form is making me doubt whether I need a different striker now.
                          Youth Academy:
                          I’ve just gone past the May 1st update, and called up 3 players who I may loan out next season. All of them have a potential of over 85
                          Marco Thy- CAM- overall at 64 still 16
                          Tobias Ziereis- CAM- 58 overall and 17
                          Ralph Pliquett- LB- 62 overall at 17
                          Mike Elia- LM- 62 overall at 16
                          Simon Kreyer- CAM- 65 overall at 16
                            A regen is a player that is created when another retires. For instance, if Ibrahimovic retires you can find his regen by looking for a Swedish striker in Ligue 1. They will usually have extremely high potential.
                                Search him. If he's not there he's retired. You can get a rough idea though from different careers in the past, I find that Ronaldo usually retires in 2022
