    STOKE CITY SEASON 1

    November

    Match 10

Stoke City 0 - 0 West Ham United

In a Dour match at the Britannia Stadium chances were few and far between and a dogged West Ham defence kept Stoke at Bay. Stokes early form seems to be disappearing with Bojan a shadow of his former self.
    MOM Stones and Adrian

    Match 11

    Tottenham Hotspur 3 - 3 Stoke City

    Diouf 6
    Soldado 32
    Moses 45
    Lennon 70
    Diouf 89
    Eriksen 90

After leading 3 times in this exciting affair at White Heart Lane, Stoke city seem destined to remain winless away from home after a shocking error by Begovic gifted Eriksen a 2 yard tap in with the last kick of the game.
    MOM Diouf

    Match 12

    Stoke City 4 - 3 Burnley

    Jones 6
    Arnautovic 31
    Assaidi 55
    Arnautovic 76
    Vokes 78 (pen)
    Unal 84 (pen)
    Vokes 90 (pen)

Pouring rain and woeful defending by both teams led to a 7 goal thriller at the Britannia Stadium with 3 penalties in the last 12 minutes. After a comfortable lead Stoke were under severe pressure at the end.
    MOM Arnautovic

    Match 13

    Liverpool 1 - 3 Stoke City

    N'zonzi 8
    Sturridge 26
    Diouf 40
    Bojan 47

FANTASTIC!!!!! A new away formation pays off for a resurgent Stoke City team with a great counter attacking display at Anfield. Will this be the catalyst to greatness?

    Overview

A good month for Stoke City remaining unbeaten and climbing to 4th spot on goal difference. A proud but cautious Stuart Brown told the assembled press that he was loving his job at the moment and hopes that December will bring more success. December will be a pivotal month as there are some tough games with away trips to Old Trafford and Goodison Park also home matches against Arsenal and Chelsea not to mention a Cup quarter final and league game against close rivals West Brom.

(ok guys ive been looking at other peoples youth teams and I am struggling to find the same quality players that you have, with one exception. Do I need to be more patient and picky? I have 4 and 5 star scouts. Thanks guys and keep up the good work)

This is getting worse. It's at the point where my heart starts pumping hard each time there is a corner for the opposition because I know it's a sure goal against me. No matter what I try my player(s) will just stand around the box without jumping while the opponent jumps and heads the ball. Sometimes they don't even need to jump to hit the ball. I just had a play where the opposing player was literally able to bring the corner kick down with his chest and then shoot and score. I don't get why my players can't defend corners anymore.

Have you tried it on kick off or ultimate team to see if the problem still exists?

                            TOTTENHAM 1–0 CHELSEA
It was vital for Tottenham to get something from the game having not won in their last 3 and they started much brighter than they had done in their last match. But Courtois was proving a tough nut to crack and pulled off some heroics to keep Spurs at bay. But into the second half, he couldn’t deny a low driven shot by Christian Eriksen which found the bottom corner giving the hosts. Chelsea went out on the attack but simply couldn’t breach the Tottenham back line, clearly missing the dependable Diego Costa who sat out through injury. A great win for Spurs, and their first in 4 games.

                            TOTTENHAM 5–2 BURNLEY
After a great win against Chelsea, Tottenham started really quickly and found themselves 2-0 up after just 8 minutes, both of which came from Eriksen. The Danish midfielder completed his hat trick in just the 17th minute, only for Burnley one back moments later through summer signing Matt Taylor. Just passed the half hour mark and amazingly it was 3-2, as Lukas Jutkiewicz scrambled home to give the visitors hope. But that hope soon evaporated as Eriksen grabbed his 4th of the match just after the break, killing off any thoughts of a memorable comeback. A calamitous error from Tom Heaton in the final minutes after a Michael Keane gifted the hosts with a 5th, one that the former Manchester United keeper will not want to see again.

                            FA CUP

                            TOTTENHAM 1–1 BRISTOL CITY
Spurs’ first game of this year’s competition saw them take on league 1 opposition, and Wetson’s boyhood local club Bristol City. They started brightly and youngster Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 18th minute, giving him his 1st of the season. But City refused to go and after some wasted chances by Spurs, they seized their moment in the 90th minute when Wade Elliot’s shot was saved by Vorm, only to fall straight to the former Arsenal man Jay Emmanuel Thomas, who handed City a second chance against Premier League in a replay at Ashton Gate.

                            BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE

                            TOTTENHAM 1–1 SUNDERLAND
Looking to bounce back from a disappointing cup result, Spurs fell behind in the 24th minute when their defence was caught napping, allowing Will Buckley to run through a drill into the far corner past Lloris. Sunderland’s stubbornness was frustrating Spurs, and it took a slice of luck to allow them back into the game, with their top scorer Adebayor on hand to rescue a point for an underperforming side.

                            FA CUP 3RD ROUND REPLAY

                            BRISTOL CITY 2–3 TOTTENHAM
Tottenham knew that their opponents would be full of confidence on their own turf and after holding Spurs at White Hart Lane, they had every right to be. But it was the visitors who started the better side, and Nabil Bentaleb put them ahead with his first of the season on the 20 minute mark. Tottenham held their lead till just after the break, when City were awarded a penalty, giving Katsouranis his chance to shine which he took confidently sending Friedel the wrong way. Before 70 minutes were up, City led with Emmanuel Thomas netting his 2nd against the same opposition in a week. Immediately from kick off though, some quick passing split the City defence and Chadli was on hand to settle some Spurs nerves. With the game destined for extra time, Flint’s back pass was miss controlled by Frank Fielding, and then ball went under his legs and agonisingly rolled over the line, gifting Spurs a cheap pass into the 4th round draw. An absolute classic FA cup game packed full of drama and excitement.

                            BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE

                            CRYSTAL PALACE 1–3 TOTTENHAM
A win for Tottenham would put them top of the league, and they were given an early advantage as Joe Ledley saw red for a last man challenge on Eriksen. To make matters worse, Townsend laid the free kick for Lamela to strike right into the top corner leaving Speroni with no chance. Shortly after half time, Spurs doubled their advantage when Adebayor capitalised on some scrappy play to squirm his effort underneath the helpless Palace keeper. Surprisingly Barry Bannan pulled one back for the hosts, but their hopes were diminished when James McCarthur saw red for a rash challenge on Eriksen. A wonderful stoppage time goal from Lamela gave Wetson an important win, putting Spurs at the summit.

                            FA CUP

                            TOTTENHAM 4–1 MIDDLESBOROUGH
A horrific start for Spurs saw Stambouli sent off and Vossen score in the first 10 minutes, but the team was somehow transformed afterwards. Roberto Soldado scored an incredible 4 goals, 2 of which were penalties to ensure a safe passage through to the 5th round after an appalling start to the game.

Standings at the end of January

                            After 22 games

                            1) Tottenham 47 points
                            2) Manchester United 45 points
                            3) Liverpool 45 points
                            4) Everton 45 points
                            5) Chelsea 43 points
                            6) Manchester City 43 points

Monthly review: Another unbeaten month in the league and a fantastic win over Chelsea gave us great confidence to go and strive for greater things throughout the month. Christian Eriksen has had a sudden rise in form and is starting to add more goals to his solid all round play. The ties against Bristol City turned out to be a lot more taxing than they should have been but we’re through so that’s all that matters.

Transfer review: I am quite pleased with the deals in the winter window. I had the goals of letting Lennon and Capoue go and replacing them. That was accomplished with Premier League experience in the shape of Tiote, and also some youth and excitement in Redmond. Kaboul forced a move away and with Vertonghen out injured for my hand was forced into a move. Hector Moreno was a player Spurs chased in real life, and one that fitted the bill for what I was after. Danny Rose went out on loan as he wasn’t getting the game time he deserved, and Assou-Ekotto (a player I wanted to leave) is joining Sunderland in the summer. Subsequently my pursuit of a first team left back will have to wait until the summer. Roberto Soldado was on the verge of joining Udinese, but they couldn’t match the £14 million valuation set on him by the club so he has stayed. As a result, the move to bring Mattia Destro didn't go through either. My initial holding midfield target of Morgan Schneiderling was prized away from Chelsea before Capoue, and i wasn't prepared to take the risk of having too many players in 1 position
