Wow what a battle at the top of the table there! Pretty crazy to see three teams tied on points at the top at this stage. Should make for a great second half of the season.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

OK I was able to go home this weekend and I played a little FIFA and worked on my Bayern career. I accidentally loaded the wrong file and lost some of the progress I had made in my last post like I was at the game against Werder Bremen, I think. I know it was the game before my international debut for Wales. The Werder Bremen game was good for but it was horrendous for Werder, they had 2 men sent off in the first 20 minutes or so. So this made the game much easier for me, seeing as it was 11 men to 9. The field opened up a lot and made passing so much easier for me. I ended up winning the game 6-0. Then my international debut was against Belgium and I lost that one. The second game was vs England we drew that one. We are now 3rd in the group behind Belgium and England (on goal differential). I ended up simulating most of the season I was able to win the Bundesliga over Dortmund with a critical win at Dortmund on the Saturday after a champions league game on Wednesday. I left off in the Deutscher Pokal final against Bayern 04, but I had to go to my grandparents house for dinner in the middle of the game so the XBox shut itself off while I was gone, so I'm hoping the autosave will bring me right to before that game starts. I will be lucky to win the game though because Boateng is suspended for accumulating too many yellows and Zabaleta and Martinez each got injured and were out for the season. Badstuber is too tired for this game because he has had to play mostly every game with the injuries and being my 2nd best CB behind Boateng. So I think I have to roll with the backline of Alaba, Bernat, Lahm (I think), and Rafinha. And then after that I have the UEFA final and I forget who that is against. But I am heading home again so I will post the results to these two games, a season review and maybe a squad review.

        Ha Ho He

        January 2016

        Tranfers In

        Mattia De Sciglio

80 Ovr, Right Back, 23 Years Old, Italy

        Bosman Tranfer

Hertha BSC managed to catch a big fish this winter for free. Mattia De Sciglio, who is a really talented young full back who can play at either side of the defence will join the Berliners for nothing after the season ends in the beginning of July. The AC Milan youth academy product made his breakthrough last year in Italy and he is fast and attacking minded. The young Italian will be the starting right back when he joins.

        Loris Karius

71 Ovr, Goalkeeper, 22 Years Old, German

        €2,000,000

Hertha's second to cheapest signing of the winter transfer window was bringing in Loris Karius from Mainz 05. The young German, who spent a year with Manchester City, joined Mainz in 2012. Since then he hasn't played too often and that will not change in Berlin as the German was bought only because Hertha were in need of a second choice keeper after Rune Jarstein left for a big amount of money.

        Matthias Ginter

79 Ovr, Central Defender, 22 Years Old, Germany

        €5,000,000 + Sebastian Langkamp

The German footballing world was surprised when Hertha BSC announced the signing of the young German central defender Matthias Ginter. The young and talented centre back arrived from Borussia Dortmund for a low fee of five million euros and Sebastian Langkamp. Langkamp has appeared in only three games this season and he wasn't important for Ganchev's team. Ginter was part of Germany's World Cup winning squad and with his arrival Hertha will have a defensive partnership for years to come with him and Schär.

        Antonio Rüdiger

75 Ovr, Central Defender, 22 Years Old, Germany

        €5,500,000

The third player and the third defender Hertha signed was Antonio Rüdiger who is another German youngster. The defender arrived from Stuttgart for a price of €5,5 million. The Berliners have really addressed their defensive problems with the signings of three defenders who are all young and talented. Rüdiger will probably not get a lot of playing time.

        Niklas Süle

74 Ovr, Central Defender, 20 Years Old, Germany

        €7,500,000

The final signing made by Hertha BSC on the deadline day was buying Niklas Süle from Real Sociedad. The strong and tall German joined the Spanish club in the summer but he wasn't able to settle in Spain. Süle made his breakthrough in 2013-14 season for Hoffenheim in which he managed to score few goals. Now he will play with Hertha but there are four defenders ahead of him in the playing order.

        Transfers Out

        John Anthony Brooks
        , €6,500,000
        Rune Jarstein, €18,000,000

        Hertha BSC 2 - 1 1899 Hoffenheim
        Lacazette 33', Stocker 81'
        Zuber 59'

        Bayern München 1 - 0 Hertha BSC
        Götze 21'

In the second game between the two teams Bayern played a lot better with the support of the home fans. Hertha didn't play really well and they created only few chances against the five defenders of the Bavarians. The only goal was scored in the 21st minute by Mario Götze after the young attacking midfielder *cough traitor cough* dribbled about 30 yards past the defenders before shooting the ball to the top left corner. After that Robben hit the post in the 40th minute and nothing else happened.

        Hertha BSC 2 - 1 Hannover 96
        Lacazette 24', Lustenberger 48'
        Marcelo 80'

        League Table

        1. Hertha BSC, 46 pts
        2. Borussia Dortmund, 45 pts
        3. Bayern München, 42 pts
        4. Bayer Leverkusen, 42 pts
        5. FC Schalke 04, 35 pts
        6. VfL Wolfsburg, 33 pts
        --------------------------------------
        16. FC Köln, 16 pts
        17. FC Nuremberg, 16 pts
        18. Mainz 05, 15 pts

        Press Conference

You are still in first, this time with one point advantage. Can you stay there for the remaining season?

I really believe so. We have been really good this season and that's what we'll continue doing. We just need to work on our game against smaller teams and we need to win the tight games. If we can do that we will have the trophy in our hands at the end.

You got six points from three games. Are you happy with that?

Yes, I am. The only points we dropped were against Bayern and we all now how they play like little girls and like that English club, the Russian one with their six defensive players who do nothing else than sit right in front of the goal. All they needed to do is to get a chance, score and play the rest of the game like Chelsea. You know, there's a saying which goes like this: "If you can't beat them, join them" and that's exactly what the so-called mastermind Guardiola is doing.

Have you ever worked with Jose Mourinho?

No, I haven't. Why are you asking that?

Nevermind. Could you explain your transfers?

It's simple. We kill the Batm... I mean we just needed to strengthen our defence. We got Ginter for a great price and Rüdiger and Süle arrived because we needed someone to replace Brooks and for squad depth. De Sciglio will join us because we really need a better right back. Karius was brought in to replace Jarstein as our second keeper. I still can't believe that Aston Villa payed 18 million for him.

Last question. Why did you reject Brazil's and Chile's national teams' job offers?

I... can't believe you're still asking that same question. Go check your recordings from almost every past month and you will know why I rejected them.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

Biloxi, tough loss against Liverpool but you're still right on their tail and should be able to overtake them for the top spot in the BPL. Nice job going undeafeated in the Champions' as well.

Simp, amazing job with Hertha so far. I recently purchased Süle at Alcorcon too but he's only rated in the high 60's and that's in like the 7th season of that CM.

jamie, you are CRUISING through League 1. Really impressive. Sucks to see Akpom was injured, luckily he's stayed healthy for me in both CM's.

tex, I see you've moved up to League 1 now, nice start to the season though that loss to Preston was shocking (while the 11-goal game with Bradford looks like it was a hoot). I'd love to take a look at your roster (unless you already posted it, then just point me in that direction).

                      AD Alcorcon - '19-'20 Season
                      September Update

                      League Match 3
Atletico Madrid - AD Alcorcon (3-1)
                      Leo Baptistao 21'
                      Omrani 63'
                      Leo Baptistao 75'
                      Vinicius Araujo 86'

Recap: ouch, this one hurt. We were looking to get our first points in La Liga after losing our first two games last month and we were outclassed all the way. The silver lining is that Omrani quickly got on the scoring sheet for us, he looked really good out there.

                      League Match 4
AD Alcorcon - Elche CF (1-0)
                      Omrani 45+'

Recap: The visiting team was actually among the league leaders when we played this game and they played like it although we were definitely the better team. However, we continue to struggle to score and Omrani once again came through for us, this time saving the day.

CL - Group Stage, Match 1
Malmo FF - AD Alcorcon (4-1)
                      Thern 9'
                      Rexhepi 62'
                      Omrani 81'
                      Pekalski 83'
                      Pekalski 90+'

Recap: Arguably the most frustrating game in my time here. Of course it was a rain game and when attacking we seemed to be severely slowed down while on defense we were often on skates. To make matters worse Ulreich gave up goals on shots he usually saves. The goal at the end of the game was a slap to the face. AGAIN, Omrani is the only guy to come through for us, not sure where we would be if we hadn't gotten him this summer.

                      League Match 5
Malaga CF - AD Alcorcon (0-1)
                      Correa 20'

Recap: The scoring struggles continue and I'm losing my mind. Shots on goal were not an issue in this one but Sergio Romero had some really nice saves for the home team. Correa scored on a breakaway assisted by, you guessed it, Omrani. That dude is earning his money.

                      League Match 6
AD Alcorcon - Valencia CF (2-2)
                      Michel 45'
                      Correa 63'
                      Omrani 71'

                      Dybala 74'

Recap: Valencia came into this game in 2nd place in the league and we nearly upset them but we were unable to put them away in a very good back and forth game. You can't stop Omrani, you can only hope to contain him. On the other side of him Alessandro Farago had actually been struggling coming into this game (form in the low 6's) so he was benched for Salomon Rondon who had a solid but unspectacular game.

                      League Match 7
Sevilla FC - AD Alcorcon (0-0)

Recap: Frustrating to not be able to score in one of our many chances but thankful at the same time that our defense held up well throughout. Jherson Vergara is starting to be the CB we hoped he would be when we moved Omar Gonzalez for him.

A solid month in league play other than the loss to Atletico. We're just 4 points out of 6th place and I'm shooting to be in the top 10 by the end of next month, climbing slowly but surely after being in last place at the end of August. I can't express how upset I am at the Champions' League opener ... ... My first game this month is against Anderlecht and I'm planning to throw the kitchen sink at them. They lost to Chelsea in their opener (2-1) and I have to make sure they go to the bottom while I start to rise in the group.

I will say that losing our starting RB, In Sung Jo, to injury while he was playing for South Korea definitely did not help our efforts this month. Rankovic just isn't a starting-quality fullback so I've moved Lancini to the right for now and I'm playing Euller on the left. That is working for now. I'm going to try to manage Farago's struggles carefully because this is really the first time he's had bad form since he was promoted and he's such a stud at an early age (has potential to be special), I just want to make sure that I don't negatively affect his growth. Rondon is faster, taller, and stronger than Farago right now though and that gives him and edge when Farago is in bad form.

Looking at our youth academy, we received the first reports from out scouts in France, Spain, and England but only a couple of Spanish prospects caught our attention. Here's our youth squad:
                      • Javier Marquez (CB, 60-64 OVR, 86-92 POT): 17-year old from Venezuela with good size (6'2") for his position. We're hopeful he'll stick in the academy until the end of this season.
                      • Victor Jimenez (CM, 53-57, 74-80): 16-year old from Venezuela who is a defensive-minded midfielder. He needs to remain in the academy for now.
                      • Julio Gutierrez (MID/ATT, 49-63, 69-89)*: 15-year old from Spain who brings speed to the pitch. We're still trying to figure out where he fits best but with his age we should have plenty of time to figure that out.
                      • Juan Nuñez (LM, 49-55, 70-78): 16-year old from Ecuador who was signed to the academy towards the end of last season. He's technically gifted but we don't need to rush him to the senior squad right now.
                      • Jomar Mayat (LW, 53-57, 72-76): 17-year old from Cameroon who will be more of a striker than a winger as his speed is very limited. Ideally he'd stay in the academy all season.
                      • Joey Hoesen (LW, 57-61, 71-75): 16-year old from the Netherlands who has better game on the wings though still lacks a lot of speed. He's not going to progress much more in the academy so we may promote him and try to loan him this winter.
                      • Francisco Miguel (MID/ATT, 43-55, 64-82)*: 15-year old from Spain who seems to be attack-minded, still trying to get a feel for him.

                      * Denotes recent addition to the academy.

                        Capital One Cup
                        Aston Villa 3 (4) - Exeter City 3 (5)
                        AVL - Weimann 38', Sanchez 42', N'Zogbia 61'
                        EXE - Sercombe 20', Reid 44', van Nieff 77'

Ridehalgn laid the ball off the Sercombe for a quick shot that hit the back of the net to open the scoring. Weimann then struck the post off a volley, but followed his own shot to finish it off. Sanchez then put Aston Villa ahead with a left footed strike from the left side of the goal. Reid received a great pass from van Nieff and finished it to tie it up. Aston Villa retook the lead when N'Zogbia showed off his pace to race past the defense and find the net. van Nieff sent the match to extra time with his poweful left foot that found it's way to the upper right corner of the goal. With no goals in extra time, the match went to penalties and was decided when Aston Villa missed on their 3rd attempt and the rest were made.

                        Exeter City 1 - Yeovil Town 0
                        EXE - Ribeiro 65'

Exeter controlled the game throughout while outshooting their opponents 17-4. Yeovil's keeper put on an oustanding display in the goal saving 11 shots. Having a hard time cracking the game open, Exeter finally got on the board after Riberio dribbled from the right wing into the middle before firing a shot that was once again saved by the keeper. However, Ribeiro was able to be the first ot track down the ball and knocked in the rebound for the goal.

                        Notts County 1 - Exeter City 3
                        NTS - Balmy 83'
                        EXE - Reid 45', Wilson 72', van Nieff 90'

Right before the end of the first half Sercombe ran down the right wing and attacked the goal. He waited for the keeper to pull off his line before crossing it over to Reid for the tap in. On a quick counter attack Williams threaded the ball through two defenders to a streaking Wilson who calmly finished with his left foot back across the keeper. Notts cut the lead in half late with a great ball played up to Balmy who struck a powerful shot past the keeper. With Notts County desparate to get one back, van Nieff intercepted a pass between back line players and easily finished the chance for the final goal of the night.

                        Exeter City 0 - Crawley Town 1
                        CRA - Bawling 47'

Shortly into the second half Bawling played a great give and go and received the ball back infront of goal with only the keeper to beat. He struck it hard past the keeper just inside the near post for the 1-0 lead. Exeter had 5 shots on target, but none were able to find it's way past the superb play of the Crawley keeper.

                        Southend United 2 - Exeter City 1
                        SOU - Payne 19', Canga 89'
                        EXE - Wilson 90'

Southend opened up the game after Payne hit a shot and the keeper committed the ultimate sin of not guarding his near post. Canga then hit a shot late in the game that looked to be saved by the keeper, but slowly rolled out from under him and into the goal. Exeter were able to break the clean sheet with a late goal from Wilson after Reid crossed it across the face of the goal for the tap in.

                        Capital One Cup
                        Bristol City 1 - Exeter City 3
                        BRC - Smith 86'
                        EXE - Wilson 39', 72', Grimes 67'

Wilson received the pass from Grimes and raced through the defense before striking with his left foot back across to the bottom right corner of the goal. Grimes then found a goal of his own after some great dribbling got him into position to shoot across the goal into the upper left corner. Williams then found a cutting Wilson who struck it first time past the keeper to put Exeter up 3-0. Bristol City found a late goal after some nice passing left Smith with a quick shot that found it's way into the net.

                        Exeter City 1 - Oldham Athletic 1
                        EXE - Williams 66'
                        OLD - Forte 88'

Williams opened the scoring in the second half when he cut towards the middle with the ball before blasting a shot past the keeper on the left side of the goal. Oldham forced the draw late with a great cross that sailed over the first attacker, but right into the path of the back post run by Forte who headed it into the goal.

                        Oxford United 0 - Exeter City 2
                        EXE - Burgess 6', Wilson 44'

Sercombe threaded a great ball through the defense into the path of Burgess who touched it out left before finishing it back across to his right. Wilson then timed his challenge perfectly and took the ball away from the last defender as he went to change directions and went through 1 on 1 with the keeper for the easy finish just before the end of the half. Oxford hit the post a couple times in the second half, but couldn't find the net in the end.

                        Youth Academy

Adam McCartan (Northern Ireland) 16 years old 48-56 OVR 71-83 POT.
                        - Adam has made gread use of his technical gifts to be a playmaker in the CAM role with the youth teams.

Andrew Wynne (United States) 16 years old 43-53 OVR 68-84 POR.
                        - Andrew has yet to find his position for the future. He plays all over the midfield and as a forward for the youth teams, it remains to be seen which he will stick with.

Carl Little (Northern Ireland) 15 years old 41-43 OVR 74-80 POT.
                        - Carl Little has stepped up for the youth team playing as a center back. At only 15, he still has some growing to do to have a future at the position.

Chris Dean (United States) 16 years old 45-47 OVR 70-74 POT.
                        - Combined pace with creativity has made him a natural for the CAM role. He is the first American signing brought over by Tex Bumosix to the youth academy.

Drew Tootle (England) 17 years old 54-58 OVR 70-74 POT.
-The young keeper is a giant at 6'5" and only 17 years old. He has the potential to be the future first choice keeper for Exeter if he develops properly.

Isaac Fryers (England) 15 years old 56-60 OVR 75-81 POT.
-The young 15 year old prefers to play right in the center of the pitch. He plays with a more defensive mindset, but has a tendency to play more in the center rather than in the traditional holding position.

Josh Meenan (Northern Ireland) 15 years old 46-48 OVR 72-78 POT.
                        - The young boy from Northern Ireland has natural talents at keeper, but his future will be determined on how much he grows over the coming years since he is standing only 5'7" at the momemnt. If he hits a growth spurt as expected, his future seems bright.

Leon Robinson (England) 16 years old 57-61 OVR 74-80 POT.
-At only 16 years old, he has found himself a role as a right back within the youth squad. He is a pacey right back who likes to get involved in the attack with his ability to overlap with the midfielders.

Luke McClure (Northern Ireland) 16 years old 56-62 OVR 88-94 POT.
                        - Has the look of a natural winger on the pitch. Still has yet to establish himself as a favorite on the left or the right side, but his future is certainly as a forward.

Paddy McEleney (Northern Ireland) 16 years old 41-51 OVR 65-81 POT.
                        - Another giant in the academy to challenge for the keeper position of the future. Standing at 6'3" he isn't quite as tall as Tootle, but has plenty of the height required for his position.

Exeter City Player of the Month

                        James Wilson

Wilson took a few games to get going this month, but finished strong with 4 goals while opening up space for his teammates as well. He remains the most dangerous scoring threat each game he steps on the pitch for Exeter City.

                        Press Conference

A very up and down month, but here we are. I will let you guys direct where this goes today, so I am going to open it up to questions now.

Q: Some losses in winnable matches this month, but you are still in a playoff spot right now. How do you feel about your current position?

A: We are a newly promoted team, so this is still quite an accomplishment, but at the same time it is where we expect to be. We feel that we should be winning matches, so when we don't we feel that we didn't do our jobs out there. Still, we are fortunate to be where we are after being newly promoted into League 1.

Q: Your win against Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup was an impressive one with you winning on penalties. Was this match personal at all since Aston Villa knocked you out of the F.A. Cup last season in the semi-finals?

A: We had a little extra motivation, yes. But, I won't say that is what pushed us over the edge. We don't need that motivation to want to win, we already do. Especially in these cup competitions. We know that playing these top tier clubs are our best chance to get our name out and to get recognized on a larger scale. Still, it felt great to knock them out of the cup.

Q: The international rumor mill is running wild with whispers that you have been approached by Finland to manager their national team. Is this true?

A: Finland has had some discussions with me where they have expressed interest. They told me that if I want the job, it is mine. They gave me a couple months to make a decision, and I have a lot to think over. My focus is 100% on Exeter City right now, and I don't want to take on anything that will jeopardize that.

Thanks again everyone for being here today. That is all the time we have for today. Our focus going forward will be to pick up our form on a consistent basis. Our defense has been better this season, but our offense isn't as high powered as we showed in the past as well. There is a lot of work to do, so I look forward to speaking to you all next time.

It always takes a couple months for the league table to really start to take shape so I think you are sitting fine where you are right now. What happened in that Malmo game though? Looked like it was a rough match to play through.

Oh and I'll post up my Exeter squad tonight.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Wow, you guys have been busy!

I've been busy with loads of travelling. Made my way back home and took the wife down to Goa for a week, so I hadn't really been able to get a lot of gaming done until recently. I don't have the details down, so October's update is going to be just plain text.

We started things off with a convincing 1-0 home win over Tottenham in very rainy conditions. The shot count was 11-18 in their favour, with both teams hitting around 40% on target and both goalkeepers on form. This was followed by a strong 2-1 win at Crystal Palace, but a 2-1 loss to Norwich put a stop to our hopes of an unbeaten month. That game was a lesson, as I was 1-0 up with less than 20 minutes to go and decided to bring on another forward. Instead of going 2-0 up, we conceded control of the game and gave up two goals in the last quarter of an hour. The month wrapped up with a 3-1 win at QPR, during which time Victor Anichebe moved to 10 goals in 10 games.

After playing Tottenham, I offered Anichebe a contract extension. Shockingly, he refused, saying that he wanted to explore his options. Since he would have been eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement come January, I was slightly worried. It seems that after scoring a brace against Palace, he changed his mind slightly, as I received a message from him saying that he was less certain about leaving. Prior to the match against QPR, I offered a second contract, this time taking his wages from £25,000 to £60,000. He agreed, and we can now move forward and look to challenge for a top-six finish.

Brown Ideye is looking less and less confident with each minute he plays. I barely recognise the goal machine from early last season, and while he would greatly benefit from playing in a two-striker system, he's out of luck as I won't be budging from the 4-3-3 I've settled on. A January sale is now pretty much guaranteed, and the only question is how much of his £10 million fee can I recover?

Saido Berahino might benefit from going on loan. He's not physically capable of playing as a lone striker, and the wings are pretty much locked down by Bakary Sako, Nathan Redmond and Stephane Sessegnon. If that happens, I might look to get a striker on loan myself, probably my go-to guy in Yaya Sanogo.

Sessegnon has been quite good, but he won't be getting a contract extension even for the purposes of a transfer. It's not that he doesn't deserve it, but we have too many other (younger) players in those positions who can develop only with game time.

We have a tough November coming up, with games against the likes of West Ham, Chelsea, and Stoke. I'd like to get off to a good start and pick up at least 7/12 points.

With that out of the way, I can go read the recent updates!

Last month ended with two teams fighting it out now for 1st place. Luton Town are sitting in 1st 4 points ahead of Huddersfield who have started this late dash for the finish line. The betting men are still backing Luton to win seeing as their recent drop of form has mostly been blamed on their hectic schedule which isn't a problem anymore.

After all the teams that Luton have faced prior this shouldn't be to much of a problem for them.

Another win against Stoke has put Luton through to the semi final of the FA Cup. This is where they were knocked out last year and they are desperate to one up their previous attempt. Overall a good month in the league with a win against 2nd place Huddersfield to top it all off.
