Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
FA Community Shield
Arsenal 4 - 5 Manchester City
August 10th - Wembley
In a game that featured 4 penalty kicks, Manchester City outlasted Arsenal in the FA Community Shield, the traditional kick-off to the English Season. Sergio Agero scored a hat-trick, with Jesus Navas and Sammy Khedira chipping in goals for the 'Citizens'.
Paco Alcacer scored his own hat-trick, but to no avail for the Gunners. Aaron Ramsey scored the goal of the game with a 35yrd wonder strike that flew past a bewildered Joe Hart. Coach Smith said,"I saw some good things, but I also see where we need improving." Santi Carzola was injured with a Sprained knee which will leave him out for the next 3 weeks.
Later on that day it was revealed that Arsenal transfer target Julien Draxler of Schalke will join the Gunners on a transfer fee of 20 million pounds and Luka Poldulski.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Torino's pursuit of a midfielder went all the way until deadline day and in the end their new acquisition wasn't any of the names mentioned in earlier reports.
They signed 19 year old central midfielder Rabiot from French league leaders PSG. The fee is believed to be in the region of £3 million and he has signed a 4 year contract worth 30k per week.
Due to Torino's lack of funds he was the only signing of this window for the Italian title hopefuls. To fund this move they let midfielder Basha join Chievo for £2 million.
Real Madrid were the biggest spenders of the window sealing deals for Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Arturo Vidal of Juventus for a combined fee of £69.5 million.
Manchester City softened the blow of losing their top goalscorer by signing Edison Cavani for a fee believed to be around £40 million.
Another top player to leave Serie A was Hamsik of Napoli who joined Manchester United for £16.5 million.Comment

AZ Alkmaar 2014-15
ALKMAAR, Netherlands, June 1 - Dutch side AZ Alkmaar made a surprising move, appointing unproven American manager Josh Gardner as their new head man. Unproven and unknown in Europe, it will be interesting to see what the American brings to the club. Rumors are already swirling that in addition to USMNT striker and AZ star Aron Jóhannsson, Gardner is looking to add another high profile American to his side. Time will tell, but this is certainly a new direction for the Dutch side.

AZ Makes a Splash in the Transfer Market! John Brooks Headed to Alkmaar
ALKMAAR, Netherlands, July 20 - New AZ boss Josh Gardner followed through on his plan to lure another big name American to the side, bringing in World Cup hero John Brooks. Brooks was being pursued by several Premier League sides, which makes this signing that much more surprising. Brooks will likely be the starting CB immediately, although there are rumors that he may slide up to a CDM spot in Gardner's new 11.
In addition, Gardner has added promising Dutch LB Nathan Aké on loan from Chelsea. The 19 year old should compete for a starting spot, and Gardner is already being praised for bringing in such a promising Dutch player to the side.
Gardner also announced a devoted youth effort, as networks will be set up in the US, Netherlands and Germany. These networks of scouts will be looking for new talent to add at the U16 level.
AZ is certainly making changes, and so far fans are in approval. Details of the two deals are below...

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
SEPTEMBER
SHREWSBURY 0
PORTSMOUTH 0
Shrewsbury were able to hold the title favourites to a goalless draw at New Meadow, and looked the more likely side to win. Paul Jones pulled off a string of great stops in the Portsmouth net to keep things level, while the Portsmouth strikers offered minimal danger to the Shrews defence. A better point for Wetson’s men no doubt.
PLYMOUTH 1
Alessandra 45’
SHREWSBURY 1
Collins 66’
Dean Wilson’s Shrewsbury claimed their second point of the month at Home Park, with captain James Collins claiming a second half equaliser. The Shrews fell behind just before the half time whistle with Alessandra’s header too well placed for Leutwiler to get a touch on it. Collins levelled mid-way through the second period after some magical feet from Jack Grealish, but in reality the visitors were fortunate to get away with a point, and Plymouth will certainly be ruing some missed opportunities over the 90 minutes.
SHREWSBURY 2
Collins 63’ (pen)
Robinson 76’
Vernon sent off 69’
TRANMERE 0
Shrewsbury’s best performance of the season saw them overcome the league leaders Tranmere. It was goalless at the break with the visitors having the better of the play, but just passed the hour mark Shrewsbury were awarded a penalty. Robinson was brought down after the ball had gone, and Collins dispatched powerfully into the top right corner. When Scott Vernon saw red on his first start of the season Shrewsbury were setting up for an onslaught. But a breakaway from Akpro gave Robinson the chance to seal the game which he duly did. A great win for Wilson’s men over the leaders, and it gives them confidence that they can battle with the best in the division.
ACCRINGTON 1
Procter 20’
SHREWSBURY 1
Collins 15’
All in all it was a disappointing result for Dean Wilson and his side as they struggled away at 23rd place Accrington. Despite starting positively and taking the lead through James Collins, they never assumed complete control of the game and were pegged back just 5 minutes later. The hosts mainly restricted their opposition to long range efforts, rarely challenging their ‘keeper. A much better point for Accrington than Shrewsbury no doubt as Shrewsbury relinquished top spot just 4 days after capturing it.
SHREWSBURY 5
Collins 26’ (pen), 65’, 74’
Lyness OG 45’
Mangan 90’
BURTON ALBION 0
McLaughlin sent off 25’
It was a game full of excitement and controversy at New Meadow which saw Shrewsbury claim the biggest win of the season. James Collins got the ball off and rolling after the referee disallowed a goal to award a penalty and a red card to the Burton ‘keeper. Fortunately, Collins converted. On the stroke of half time, a 30 yard strike by Grandison was saved by Lyness, but the substitute couldn’t handle the pace on the ball, consequently taking it over his own line. Collins bagged 2 more in 9 minutes in the second half before Andy Mangan scored in the final minute to round off the month in style.
Player of the month
James Collins
A hat trick in the final game of the month rounded off a great 30 days for the captain, where he claimed 6 goals in just 5 games. He far out shone any other Shrews player and is fully deserving of the award. Wilson’s decision to announce him as the new captain has clearly motivated the striker to realise his full potential, and if he can continue this kind of form then Shrewsbury will have a real shot at promotion.
Standings at the end of September
After 10 games
1) Shrewsbury 20
2) Carlisle 20
3) Hartlepool 18
4) Oxford 18
5) Portsmouth 17
6) Luton 17
7) Tranmere 16
Other teams of note
Morecambe 12th 14 points
Wimbledon 16th 11 points
Exeter 19th 10 points
Dagenham 22nd 8 points
Dean Wilson released this statement to the press regarding his views on his sides performances in September
“It has been a fantastic month for us. We have been exceptional in defence and it was good to see us convert chances into goals in the least game. We have been struggling in that area so far in most games, so it was nice to see. We mainly have James to thank for that. He has been terrific for us and 7 goals in 10 games is a very respectable return. However, there is a long way to go and it is important we do not become overly complacent in our work ethic. Thanks.”
Youth Academy
Ben Elsey OVR 43-51 POT 77-94
Our Australian centre half is certainly full of potential and at the age of just 15, he has plenty of time to develop.
Hyo Jin Han OVR 48-58 POT 67-81
The position of our South Korean youth prospect is as yet unknown, but he's only 15, so could indeed develop into a prosperous young ladLast edited by Jwetson; 10-16-2014, 02:43 PM.Comment

Arsenal Goes Down in the Capital One Cup at Old Trafford!!!
Sept 2nd, 2014
Arsenal, despite an opening goal Danny Welbeck, loses to Manchester United 3-1. After Welbeck's strike of an Ozil cross in the 5th minute, ManUnited settled down and scored 3 goals in 30 minutes to beat the Gunners at Old Trafford. "Why the hell are we playing Manchester united so early in the Cup anyway," whined Arsenal boss Sean Smith. Arsenal also loses Laurent Koscielny for 3 months with a MCL tear.

While we had a good month overall I feel like we gifted points away in the Hartlepool and Coventry game. They were games were we played more of the reserves and perhaps this was a bad decision.
League 1:
Spoiler1. Luton Town 50pts - 34GD
2. Huddersfield 40pts - 14GD
3. Rotherham 38pts - 9GD
4. Bradford 38pts - 5GD
5. Notts County 37pts - 13GD
6. Leyton Orient 35pts - 9GD
7. MK Dons 35pts - 9GD
...
24. Wimbledon 12pts - -16GD
So Luton town are comfortably sitting with a 10 point lead and 20 higher goal difference. The great part about the high GD is the fact that we have scored 50 goals which is more than 2 per game and not all of them are coming from one player. This is the whole team pulling their weight! Unfortunately Luigi Acerbi's short term long has finished and he has returned to Torino. In January we are going to try and get him back for at least the rest of the season.
