Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Jesus Christ, I was away for maybe two days. You people have got to find something else to do!
Parma has been quite interesting. I got caught up with a deadline and didn't really have much time for a few days. Last night, I got the chance to do a bit of scouting and play my first friendly against Guingamp, but I'm going to wait until I finish the other matches against Malaga and Eibar to pass judgement.
I have made a couple of low-key signings that were needed in defence. These are exactly the kind of players a team on a tight budget would actually go for. I also changed to the 5-2-3 with Biabiany and Cassano flanking Belfodil, who plays with the 'target man' instruction. In midfield, I have Lodi to string together attacks and Acquah to break up opposition play. My wing backs are De Ceglie and Cassani, and in the middle of defence, I have Paletta, Costa and a new defender who'll be revealed in my first proper update. I've also managed to offload ALL my deadwood in July itself!
I've changed my mind about selling Biabiany, but I'm still on the fence about Cassano. He's quite slow for a winger, but his excellent positioning means he's often in the right place at the right time. The guy can pass and cross like a charm, and with a target man like Belfodil in the middle, that could prove useful. At the same time, he's 32 and could decrease in value before I get a chance to offload him for a mint price, so it might be smart to just list him now and take as little as £10 million. Since I still have around £5 million and a ton of wages left, I could easily bring in a quality replacement, but I also want to make one or two more changes in other positions. This is why I said I'd wait until my preseason games are done, or even as late as deadline day after my first league match against Cesena.
Poulka, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. What you do is after setting up the team, you go to the formation you're using and customise. It was square on the PS3, so that should be X on the 360, but just look at the bottom of the screen to be sure. Then you select 'Player Instructions' and assign them to whichever players you want to.
Moose, as a supporter of another club that detests Millwall, I say good job. Never easy to go into The Den and come back with something to show for it, but never tough to tame them at home either.
Cruzerr, good luck with this important exam. I'm sure you'll realise in about 3-5 years that it meant absolutely nothing.
Keano, nice job to wrap up the league so comfortably. Now let's see what you can do with your national team. Tricky group, but you should manage to come second at worst.
Chico, great results as usual. It's quite interesting you wrote that about Ruddy. I was considering bringing him in to replace Ben Foster before he put in that incredible season to send us into the top four. On the other hand, it pains me to see Redmond going to Tottenham.
I'm not even going to comment on democracy.

How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
February 2020 - Season 7
FIFA 14 (PS3)
FA Cup - Round 4
Arsenal 0 - 4 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: James 42' 72' Thompson 44' 89'
Arsenal played an alternative back four but from midfield up it was their starters. Wimbledon, on the other hand, fielded their complete first team. Arsenal played well, both in defense and attack, but two quick goals from Wimbledon caused morale to drop and Arsenal didn't even put their hands up in their home stadium. Wenger put in Mezut Ozil for the second half hoping he can continue his goal scoring streak against Wimbledon but even Ozil was invisible on the field thanks to tight defending by the Dons. Wimbledon will continue to fight for the cup, but must now face Manchester United in the league with only 2 days to rest.
Manchester United 1 - 3 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Rhodes 25' Clayton 45' Eaves 68'
MUN: Zaha 62'
Surprise, surprise! Due to fatigue the Wimbledon B team had to face the Devils at Old Trafford who were heavy favorites following United's big 3-0 win over the Wimbledon first team at Kingsmeadow. The Dons surprised us all with a comfortable win and it looks like Eaves really is back to his goal scoring form. The B team played the same 4-2-3-1 Wide that they used against West Brom and it continues to work really well. Zoet made his debut for Manchester United at goal but after receiving 3 goals tonight the fans are left wondering if he really was the right player to replace David De Gea.
AFC Wimbledon 3 - 0 Liverpool
WIM: James 23' 90' Thompson 78'
When we saw the match calendar we all though it would be a tough month for Wimbledon with three of the big English clubs in consecutive order, but Wimbledon have walked over each of them scoring a total of 10 goals in the 3 matches. Liverpool were Wimbledon's victims today and were completely outplayed. Michael Thompson continues to show why Chavez made the right choice by choosing him over Tom Eaves and Max Clayton to be Luke James' partner up front. With this win Wimbledon is beginning to get out of reach from the other clubs on the league table.
FA Cup - Round 5
AFC Wimbledon 2 - 2 Wigan Athletic
WIM: Ortiz 4' Eaves 31'
WIG: McManaman 23' 40'
What a match! Once again a team from a lower division were very close to knocking out Wimbledon and this time they even forced a replay. The match went into halftime at 2-2 and didn't move from there, but the end of the second half was nerve wrecking with both teams close to getting the win. Wimbledon were so close to being eliminated in the end that Chavez didn't even try going for the win! In the final 10 minutes of the match after Wigan hit the post, Chavez instructed his team to play defensive and not to attack with numbers. The Wigan manager did the same, but not to the same extent as Chavez. It's hard to tell who wanted the replay more Wimbledon or Wigan. The replay will be held at Wigan, and will crowd Wimbledon's match schedule as they will have 4 matches in one week next month.
Champions League - Round of 16
FC Porto 3 - 2 AFC Wimbledon
FCP: Kelvin 5' Ghilas 54' Gonçalo 88'
WIM: James 20' Murphy 45'
Unbelievable. Wimbledon ran into their ghosts from last season and lost to Porto in pretty much the final play of the match. The match was very tight, with Porto getting an early lead, then Wimbledon flipping it, and finally Porto flipping it one last time too late in the match for Wimbledon to react.
"We're not too worried about the result. There's still 90 minutes left to play and the important thing is we took 2 away goals from Porto. Of course we don't want to have to rely solely on them, but they could be vital for us just like last year they were against us. We just have to take what we've learned from tonight and apply at in the return leg. I have no doubt the fans will give them hell at Kingsmeadow. There's nothing we can't accomplish on our own home ground, our history shows it." - Richard Odhlambo, Wimbledon midfielder.

Notable Youth Academy Players
No Changes
SpoilerBen McGovern - CDM (63-67, 88-94): Only 16 years old, the Northern Irish midfielder looks very promising. Ideally the club wants him to stay in the academy for one more year. Hopefully he doesn't demand a call up anytime soon.
Chris McGinn - CDM (66-70, 87-93): The 17 year old from Northern Ireland has finally chosen CDM as his position of choice. He's considered to be physically strong, but may not be promoted until next year.
*Jacob Sercombe - ? (46-60, 77-94): The 15 year old from England has recently joined the academy and has yet to choose a set position. Judging from what we've seen on the pitch, he has the characteristics of a CB.
Kyle Clarkson - LW (59-63, 80-86): Recently added to the academy so still being analyzed. The English winger is only 5'8" at age 15.
Mal Osborn - RB (58-62, 80-86): One of the only fullbacks in the U-17 that isn't defensive minded. The English winger is only 15 years old and can't be registered with the senior team until next season, but he's already one of the fastest players in the academy.
Sean Archer - CDM (65-69, 85-91): The 17 year old from Scotland is an incredible playmaker who prefers to stay in the defensive half and analyze the game from there. He's one of the most exciting players in the U-17 but he will not be registered with the senior squad until next season.
*Sebastian Torres - LW/ST (45-59, 76-94): The 16 year old from Mexico has recently joined the academy. We're hoping he decides to play as a striker due to his height of 6'2".
Steven Ross - CDM (63-67, 80-86): Defensive minded midfielder from Scotland. Recently turned 16 but won't be considered for promotion until next season.
Todd Zebroski - CDM (62-66, 80-86): 16 year old playmaker from England. Definitely one to keep an eye on but can't be promoted until next season.
Tyrone Kedwell - CM (56-60, 77-83): I'm not gonna lie I signed him immediately because of his last name - Kedwell. Could he become a club legend like Danny Kedwell? I sure hope he can live up to the name.
Headlines
FC Porto Undefeated Against Wimbledon
Wimbledon's ghosts have prevented the Dons from defeating the Portuguese in the three matches that these teams have met each other. Two draws and one defeat is the record Chavez has against Porto, making it clear that Porto manager Lopetegui has Chavez all figured out. Porto's 4-3-3 has proven too difficult for Wimbledon's 4-2-2-2, although Wimbledon did have their moments and many would argue that they did not deserve to lose that match. Porto must now visit Kingsmeadow though, a stadium where bigger clubs than Wimbledon have fallen since Chavez signed with the Wombles. We expect one of the best matches of the Round of 16 to be in England.
Luke James Steps Up
Luke James joined the Wombles in the FL Championship, worked his way up through the B team, and then joined Terry Gornell in the first team after Hanson left the club at the end of Wimbledon's first season in the Premier League. James was commonly seen as Gornell's apprentice, showing some of the same characteristics but usually being the one that created the plays. Now that Gornell has left James was expected to be the leader in attack, and he has not disappointed. The 25 year old striker from England has received his first England call up this season, and has 20 goals this year so far only 12 away from Gornell's count last year and still 3 months to go. Let's not forget about the fantastic work from youth graduate Michael Thompson, who currently leads the league in assists and has 16 goals himself. Chavez struggled to find a strike partnership at the beginning of the season, but he's definitely found the right pair.
International Duties
John Ruddy has been in impressive form since joining Wimbledon, and he currently has 6 clean sheets in 7 appearances with the Dons, leading Roy Hodgson to call him back to the England national team. Right midfielder and club veteran Jacob Murphy has received his first call up to England this month, while James Tarkowski continues to be a regular with the national team. Youth graduate Scott McGabe is becoming a regular with the Scotland national team as well, as is Adam Cowie. McGabe suffered a minor injury during the international break this month but he was back in action a week later. Mario Ruiz, Elliott Hewitt, and Callum Paterson are regular call ups for Mexico, Wales, and Scotland respectively. We're expecting Richard Odhlambo to get his first England call up soon with the great football he's been playing since returning from injury.
That's all for this month. I was extremely pi**** off at the result against Porto because they are so annoying to play against! I don't get it... What's annoying me even more now is that I have to get through FOUR matches before facing them again. As soon as the final whistle blew I wanted a rematch. I was ready to go but unfortunately I must wait. To make things better, those four matches are all with 1 day rest between each. Outstanding. I'm coming for you Porto. I'm coming.
Anyway,
Thanks For Reading!Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Guys, I want to introduce a player sponsoring system for my Parma career. For those of you unfamiliar with the practice, basically everyone chooses a player (first come, first served) on my squad to sponsor. I assign points for each of the following:
Goals
+25 for a forward
+40 for a midfielder
+60 for a defender
+100 for a goalkeeper
+100 via free kick
Assists
+15 for a forward
+20 for a midfielder
+40 for a defender
+80 for a goalkeeper
Clean sheets
+0 for a forward
+15 for a midfielder
+35 for a defender
+50 for a goalkeeper
Cards
-20 for one yellow, -40 for two (does not stack)
-60 for a straight red
Man of the match
+100 for any player
Captaincy (stacked)
+5 per start as captain
+5 for scoring (not per goal)
+10 for man of the match
Other bonuses
+15 for starting cup final, +5 as substitute
+5 for cup final win (starter/substitute)
+50 for winning Serie A (30+ appearances)
+25 for Champions League qualification (30+ league appearances)
+15 for Europa League qualification (30+ league appearances)
End of season bonus
Average rating x100 + (Total appearances in all competitions x5)
If a player transfers away mid-season, you will be given the choice to either sponsor another player for the remainder of the season or collect points equal to the transfer fee x10 and not sponsor anyone for the remainder of the season. Winner gets bragging rights and a say in transfers during the following summer window. The sponsorships reset every summer.
If enough people are interested, I will post the squad with ratings/descriptions after completing deadline day, and you can request the player you want to sponsor. Remember, first person to request a certain player gets him, so if someone has already called the man you want, please choose someone else.
What do you guys think? Interested?

How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
[FONT=Trebuchet MS]I've changed my mind about selling Biabiany, but I'm still on the fence about Cassano. This is why I said I'd wait until my preseason games are done, or even as late as deadline day after my first league match against Cesena.
As for Cassano, what if you just don't use his wing as an attacking flank and instead use him as a creator. Sorta like Beckham when Giggs was on the other side and then Giggs when Ronaldo was on the other side. Don't make him run, since he has low pace, and instead just pass a lot with him. I've never used him so I'm just referring to the things you said. I imagine I would be sending a lot of early crosses with him instead of sprinting to the end line and crossing. As you said he has good positioning so he'll always be in the right place to keep the play going. Maybe it'll work?

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Indiblue that is ok. I will take a look at it and try it out. I also like your idea of sponsoring players. That sounds cool.
Chicobass that is some youth academy that you have with Wimbleton. I see some special gems on that squad.
One side note I forgot to mention is that the guys at Lugo have put together a six game winning streak. The guys have really rallied and have supported me as I try and fight for my job.Currently playing: (In order of Most Time)

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
On a side-note I hope to get the window finished this weekend and at least the group stages finished in the South America Cup.
If anyone has any suggestions on where I need strengthening or just any good players worth signing don't hesitate to throw it out there! Any suggestion is welcome as even if I don't use it it may benefit someone else here. A squad report will hopefully be up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Thanks. It's a tricky group as Bolivia and Venezuela may surprise me but I'd much rather be in this group than either of the other 2. If I can hold it tight against Argentina and score more than they do against both the other teams I could maybe get 1st. (I'm not holding my breath though.)
Nice run you have got going there! Have the games been tight or did you win them handily enough? Where has that left you in the League now?Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
A big amount of three votes were given yesterday but they were equally spread to each of the teams which means that every team has one vote. This means that I made the decision at the end and I chose this team:Spoiler
Hellas Verona
League: Serie A, Italy
City: Verona
Stadium: Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi, capacity of 38,402
Trophies: Serie A (1984-85), Serie B (1956–57, 1981–82, 1998–99)
Rivals: Chievo Verona
Transfer Budget: €3,000,000
La Gazzetta Dello Sport, June 27th
The Italian team Hellas Verona had a successful return to the top flight of Italian football in the 2013-14 season in which they finished in a respectful tenth place. For an odd reason the owner Maurizio Setti decided to fire his manager Andrea Mandorlini. Setti stated that "both sides agreed in that" and that "there were problems between the staff and the players". It took only two days for Hellas Verona to announce their new manager and the choice surprised many. Mandorlini's successor will be the Bulgarian-Italian Simeone Corleone. And no, he has nothing to do with the mafia family. The young 38-year-old coached Chievo Verona's Primavera team from 2010 to 2012 before spending a year as Andrea Mandorlini's assistant coach. Corleone doesn't have a lot of coaching experience but under his management Chievo's youth team was the runner-up and winner of highest youth league in Italy. Corleone is known for his tactical awareness and for his confidence and motivating speeches. According to the way Chievo's Primavera played he likes to play quick and possession-minded football.
Congratulations on your appointment as the manager of Hellas. Are you happy about your job?
Thank you. Of course I am happy, I have dreamed about being a manager of a football team since I was sixteen. It's a dream come true and I'm really looking forward to my time here. I will do my best in bringing success and trophies to this team.
According to rumours Villarreal were interested in you. Why didn't you choose them?
They were? You shouldn't believe everything you read on the news. There has been only one phone call between me and them and it was not about anything specific. The only team that really wanted to get me was Hellas and I'm happy that happened.
What do you think about your Mandorlini getting fired?
He was a good coach and I'm sad he's gone. I don't think he should've been fired but it's not my job to tell the board what to do and who to choose as a manager.
What is your target for this season?
I want the team to finish in the top nine of the league and to reach the quarter finals of the cup. I don't want us to play in the Europa League next season because our quality and financial situation aren't good enough. On top of that we will lose five of our starting players. We need to think about the future and we want to be successful on the long run.
The Leader
There are two, Luca Toni and Rafael Marquez. Both of them are old but both of them have captaining experience and they are the two best players in the team. Marquez's job will be to keep the defence together and to lead it and Toni will be our starting striker.
The Star
Hellas doesn't really have one but the biggest player of the team has to be Luca Toni. The Italian striker has played for really big teams like Bayern München and Juventus. The 37-year-old scored 20 goals last season and he finished second in the top scorer list after Ciro Immobile.
The Secret Weapon
Young, pacy, skillful and talented are adjectives that describe well the Uruguayan attacker Nico Lopez. Lopez is a good player who has a lot of potential and he has the ability to decide games. Sadly for Verona he is on loan from Udinese.
The Key Player
A player who will dictate the tempo of the game and create many chances with his good passing and good free kicks is expected to be Emil Hallfredsson from Iceland. The 30 years old midfielder played a big part in last season's success and he should control the game.
The Question Mark
Pretty much every defender except for Marquez. There isn't a clear starting centre back to pair Marquez with and there aren't any good full backs. The one exception is Frederik Sörensen but he is another player who is only on loan.
Buy-Out Clauses
(Inspired by Indiblue, hopefully this won't be a problem to you)
Luca Toni, €15,000,000
Rafael Marquez, €15,000,000
Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, €15,000,000
Mattia Valoti, €12,000,000
Emil Hallfredsson, €7,000,000
Juan Gomez, €7,000,000
Javier Saviola, €6,500,000
Rafael, €5,000,000
Davide Brivio, €5,000,000
Boshko Jankovic, €4,500,000
Rafael Marques, €3,500,000
Guillermo Rodriguez, €3,500,000
Vangelis Moras, €3,200,000
Other players don't have a buy-out clause. They are mainly dead wood.
Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Okay, so it seems we have a bit of interest in the sponsorship. I'll go finish up the window and then make the post later tonight. I'm excited!
Simppu, I hope you keep Vangelis Moras. He's an absolute hero with a heart of gold. Have a read of this. Oh, and good luck. It'll be interesting to see how we both do in Italia!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Am I automatically qualified for the group stage of the Champions (at Alcorcon) since I won it last season or will I have to play in the qualifier again since I finished 4th in La Liga?vrabbit

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Hellas Verona
Transfers In
Sebastian Cristoforo
69 Ovr, Defensive Midfielder, 21 Years Old, Uruguay
Season Loan With a Buy Option
The Uruguayan holding midfielder Sebastian Cristoforo was the first signing Simeone Corleone made in his new job as Hellas Verona's manager. The young and talented midfielder will spend only a season in Italy but he can be bought at the end of the season for under two million euros.
Federico Bernardeschi
70 Ovr, Right Winger, 20 Years Old, Italy
Season Loan With a Buy Option
Hellas Verona managed to sign another young and talented player in this summer and this time it was Fiorentina's skillful winger Federico Bernardeschi. Like Cristoforo, Bernardeschi will spend a season with Verona and if the manager likes him he will be signed permanently for a few million euros. The young winger has a bright future ahead of him and he's expected to be the next big Italian winger with the likes of El Shaarawy and Domenico Berardi.
Nicola Murru
68 Ovr, Left Back, 19 Years Old, Italy
Season Loan With a Buy Option
The third and final young loanee signed by Corleone was the high-potential left back Nicola Murru from Cagliari. The youngster was signed on a season long loan with an option to buy him at the end of the spell. Murru will have to fight for playing time because Davide Brivio is ahead of him in the playing order.
Samuele Longo
69 Ovr, Striker, 22 Years Old, Italy
€1,200,000
One of the two permanent signings made by Hellas Verona was buying the young Italian striker Samuele Longo from Cagliari for a cheap fee of just over one million euros. Longo, who used to play for Inter Milan, will now need to work hard for playing time because there are four strikers ahead of him in playing order.
Connor Wickham
72 Ovr, Striker, 21 Years Old, England
€2,200,000
The second permanent deal and the last signing of the summer for Hellas Verona was buying the Englishman Connor Wickham from Sunderland for a fee of just over two million. Wickham, who is one of the most talented future strikers for the national team, was given permission to leave for an unknown reason. The 21-year-old will be the third or fourth choice striker after Luca Toni, Nico Lopez and maybe Javier Saviola.
