How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I started a CM with Newcastle and pretty much blew the whole team up. I'm using a 4-2-3-1 and I'm 10 games into the 1st season and the team looks like this:

(GK) Consigli - 80 (Krul wanted a transfer. Picked up Consigli + Perin)
(RB) Pizarro - 70
(CB) M'Biwa - 77
(CB) Coloccini - 80
(LB) Santon - 76
(CDM) Tiote - 79
(CDM) Rode - 77
(RM) Campbell - 76
(LM) Maicon - 75
(CAM) Pereyra - 79
(ST) Remy - 80 (on loan)

SUBS
(RM) Sissoko - 77
(ST) de Jong - 79 (on loan)
(CB) Kaboul - 80
(CAM) Cardenas - 75
(CDM) Casemiro - 76 (on loan)
(LB) Haidara - 70
(LM) Calhanoglu - 73

Very fun to use with a lot of potential. In January I plan to look for a RB (Pizarro is playing well though) and a replacement for Coloccini since his stats are already dropping.

I probably should have waited to sign Cardenas, Kaboul and Rode for free since their contracts are expiring but I needed depth and didn't have much cash to use and they were all pretty cheap.

Remy and de Jong are on loan but I am hoping to bring them back next season.

For a RB try picking up Joao Cancelo or Seamus Coleman they are both great players
CB I recommend Marian Sarr on loan with buy now fee at end of loan(great youngster I got him to 84 ovr) and if you can get Marc Bartra and/or Mateo Musacchio on a pre-contract in january(this will provide you with two quality cb's ready for the start of the next season)
If your lucky they will both be 80 ovr when arriving (Musacchio almost always is and Bartra grows to 80 ovr playing with AI barca in CM in a season usually)

I hope this sorts out your RB and CB problems

If you have spare wages pick up Marco Sau on pre-contract as well so then you definitely have a striker going into next season if you fail to sign Remy or De Jong
Sau is quick and a good finisher, great free pickup

Fernando from FC Porto for another solid CDM wouldn't go amiss either on a pre-contract

Great job on the career mode! I suggest signing Negredo or Dzeko in January should both be around the age of 30 at that stage in CM and they are both pretty overpowered
If not sign Rodrigo from SL Benfica he is younger but still a great signing
From Liga BBVA you should be able to get a young player called Paco Alcacer(I think that's it) he should be within your 6 million budget depending on how much he has grown up to that point and is a brilliant player in CM(grows fast)

I wanted Nelson Oliveira but he went to Schalke and now costs over 20 million!

Haha I might see if someone like John Guidetti is any good now and try to get him if he'd within budget.

Barely a month ago I was playing Legendary on FIFA 13 and yesterday I had to go down to Professional. Still getting used to FIFA 14 I guess. First 4 games of the season with Hamburg I tied them all (on professional) 1-1 two times and 0-0 two times. Lost my fifth game vs Dortmund 2-1 but after that I finally picked up. I won my last three games 2-1, 2-0, 2-0 so I'm hoping I'm finally getting a hang of this. From all my goals only 2 of them have been from legitimate plays. The rest have been from defensive errors such as their center back has the ball, my striker tackles and wins the ball leaving their defense in wrong positions and my team launches a fast attack. Their players ALWAYS catch up to me when I pull in a beautiful through ball and virtually ALL of my shots are blocked by a player. Many many times I'll dribble past my marker and shoot but my marker somehow recovers from getting juked right away and slides just in time to block my shot. Anyway I think I'm finally getting a hang of it I hope to be back to legendary or at least world class soon. Can't believe how much I'm struggling on PROFESSIONAL!!

In other news, I have Hamburg in 4th place after my last three wins. My goal is to qualify for the Europa league. Surprised they didn't change that given in real life this team is fighting off relegation

Board expectations are based purely off the overall rank of your starting 11. You can actually manipulate this by changing the players in the starting 11 before starting a new career or season if you feel the board expectations are too ridiculous.

For example, if you start the game with Newcastle's best possible starting 11 they want you to qualify for CL. Fulham's best 11 wants EL qualification etc.

Who are some players with overalls in the 70's or 80's that you can get on loan in the first season? I know Real Madrid will loan out Varane and Illarramendi.

Ok I am doing a Wolves RTG and going to update on here regularly

Been reading the forums since FIFA 13 and (if you guys havnt noticed already) have recently started contributing

Now I want a regular career mode that I can update you guys on an have chosen Wolves because they have a really good budget for a league 1 team and I enjoy doing RTG career modes(their squad also needs massive improvement if I want to get them to BPL and eventually win it)

Will be playing on Legendary, 6 minute halves

Date is August 17th in first season and I won my first match in the football league 1 1-0 against Shrewsbury

Then went on to beat Bournemouth in the capital one cup 3-2

I think I have done quite a good job with the funds I was given (2,500,000)

Here are the transfers that happened so far:

Ricketts - Season Loan

Josh Murphy - 450,000

A lot of wages were spared by the swap deals and almost always converted to cash to UBS the new swap deal etc.

I still need a new RM and LM and maybe a CM

I am open to suggestions, currently trying to get Embolo on loan with future fee of 1,500,000 and also trying to get Olinga, Feruz and Mbaye on loan depth

Who are some players with overalls in the 70's or 80's that you can get on loan in the first season? I know Real Madrid will loan out Varane and Illarramendi.

Real Madrid also loans out Casemiro
You can get Januzaj on loan
I will have a look around those are just some I remember straight away
Also you can get Scuffet (GK with 70 ovr, 88 potential) on a season loan with future buy now of 2-2,500,000 and they will accept, great value for money

Wolves Career Update

Good news

Managed to get Mbaye and Olinga on loan with a future fee of 2 million (which I very highly doubt I will have but oh well)
Also got Islam Feruz on loan with future fee of 400,000 which might be possible
I can now finally get rid of 54 rated Moli who was my backup striker until now
Also looking likely that I am getting Souttar for a swap with Bath

Hi everyone, first post and just wanted to update where I am with my current career mode. I am trying to stick to realistic signings as well. I've also added Rangers to League 1 and Shaktar to the Russian League.


World Class / 8 Minute Halves
1st season - Brisbane Roar: League Winner and Cup Winner. No acquisitions made.


Job offered to manage Milwall, and I decided I would try a new challenge, since I've never started from a Championship side. (Always done with Chelsea in the Prem.)


2nd Season - Milwall: Surprisingly they were taken over and have a € 16,500,000 budget. I've made two signings so far. CAM - Cidinho from Botafogo for € 900,000 and ST - Osako from 1860 Munich for € 1,200,00.


I will be updating every now and then on my progress to bring Milwall to the Prem and possibly Europe!

Something I noticed in Manager Mode is that for example:

I'm currently the manager at Stoke City with a budget of $5 million.

I'm offered the job at Manchester City, which has a budget of $120 million.

If I accept the job, the $5 million budget from Stoke City carries over to Manchester City.

Is this a known glitch/do I eventually get the money that I'm supposed to have?

Yes it is a glitch, I've had it happen to me as well. However it was the opposite. I moved from Chelsea with a $74 mil. budget to Shalke and I had the same $74 mil brought over. Not sure why it does this, but it only happens rarely.

Doumbia is a monster, one of my favorite CDMs to use. You probably don't need to do anything drastic like recalling him, since you should comfortably get promoted with that squad, but he's really fantastic

Yes I have plans to use him frequently next season

I have a bit of a problem at the moment

I managed to successfully swap Bath for Souttar and Dicko for Brandt but it says I have too many players

I can't release anyone and no one wants to buy anyone so it looks like I'm stuck with what I got

I think it's really stupid that they do this because surely if you do a swap the amount of players stay the same??? Apparently not...

Also got Embolo on loan with a future fee of 1,500,000

I like having future fees for players even if I know I can't afford them... You never know...
