How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    Bayern Super League Career Update

    End of season 1

Won the Russian Cup final vs Juventus 2-0 with my left back Mattia de Sciglio bagging both the goals with fantastic strikes to the top right corner both times
With those two goals added to his previous two he won the golden boot for the cup haha

Finished the league well in first place with 82 points and my closest three competitors being Barcelona with 56, Real Madrid with 55 and Manchester United with 54

Barcelona and Real Madrid will join me in the Champions League next season with Manchester United missing out with one point due to me beating them in the last game 3-0 (part of me wanted to lose seeing that I support them haha)

But losing would've ruined my perfect unbeaten run that season with 26-4-0 record in the league and unbeaten in the cup

Not quite sure how competitive the Champions League will be next season with the best 16 clubs in the world in my league and only three getting into the competition

There are still some very decent teams left but it will mostly be played for the nice prize money next season

Robert Lewandowski was my star signing at the start of the season for 35 million and he got injured halfway through the season with a broken tibia which saw him out for the rest of the season

He still finished 3rd top scorer with 15 goals in 15 appearances despite missing half the season

First was Ronaldo with 18 goals then Benzema and Neymar tied second on 17 goals

Benzema was now playing for Chelsea after having signed for them at the start of the season

Messi was 25th top scorer with 4 goals in the whole season...

Tried playing possession football seeing that I am using Bayern and mostly dominated possession in games and often my opposition didn't even get a shot away the whole game leaving Neuer with some easy clean sheets (finishing top goalkeeper)

I played World Class 6 min halves

About to go into the World Cup with Argentina

This is my Bayern team at start of second season

    Formation: 4-1-4-1

    GK: Neuer (c) - 89 (+2)
    RB: de Sciglio - 81 (+4)
    CB: Boateng - 86 (+2)
    CB: Hummels - 86 (+1)
    LB: Alaba - 83 (+1)
    CDM: Kroos - 86 (+2)
    RM: Reus - 85 (+0 )
    RCM: Muller - 87 (+2)
    LCM: Götze - 88 (+3)
    LM: Hazard - 88 (+0 )
    ST: Lewandowksi - 88 (+2)

    Other:

    GK: Ter Stegen - 82 (+0)
    RB: Jung - 77 (+1)
    CB: Javi Martinez - 85 (+1)
    CB: Varane - 81 (+0)
    LB: Willems - 72 (+0)
    CDM: Rode - 77 (Pre-contract)
    RM: Shaqiri - 81 (+1)
    CM: Gundogan - 83 (+0 )
    CAM: Kahraba - 69 (+5)
    LW: Bruma - 79 (+1)
    ST: Benteke - 82 (+1)
    ST: Ibarbo - 79 (+3)

At the start of the second season de Sciglio's potential changed from "an exciting prospect" to "has potential to be special" which means he now has 90+ potential
Bruma and Kahraba (both free agents) also "has potential to be special"
However, Varane's potential changed from "an exciting prospect" to "showing great potential" which is a real pity but understandable after his limited game time last season

Rode arrived as extra depth to my midfield

After the disappointing growth of Gundogan I am now trying to sign a new CM or CAM

I made an offer to Ozil who is now 89 ovr and 25 yo after a season at Arsenal for 30 million plus Shaqiri (I don't really need him there isn't much fitness problems in the Russian League with games spaced out a lot)
I also made a 14.7 million offer for 85 ovr, 22 yo Oscar who is in his last year of his contract. My chief executive said they might consider that offer but I doubt they will

Oscar and Ozil both fit in perfectly to the passing style of play I am using

In January of last season I panicked after seeing Lewandowski got an injury for 6 months. I only had Ibarbo as backup (who is a hidden gem) but didn't think he would be up to carrying the team on his own. So I did a straight swap with Aston Villa for Benteke with Thiago... Bad decision

Benteke hasn't been performing for me so I ended up using Ibarbo anyway. All Benteke seems capable of is heading and I don't like playing down the wings and crossing, I like nice passing moves that splits open the defence with a nice through ball

I will probably sell Benteke for hopefully 15-20 million now that Lewandowski is back

Also trying to swap Jung with Carvajal. Jung has been a great backup but at 24 yo and only 77 overall I need a better backup option to de Sciglio. I love Carvajal in real life and in the game so would love to get him

I also need a new backup left back to Alaba. I need someone young with a good potential but not a high enough overall to get unhappy with limited playing time... Any suggestions? I am thinking of Shaw but I've used him a lot... Also some guy with a really long surname: Khodz-something. He looks decent with a 80+ potential

Willems isn't happy with playing time so I would rather get a new young LB that isn't gonna cause me trouble and lots of money to keep happy

Apart from that I am very happy with the team and can't wait for the new season to begin.

Muller was fantastic las season for me scoring 13 goals in the league

As a CM I am very happy with that. He and Götze was also top assist. Kroos has a deadly FK and scored 2 last season(i only got 2 free kicks in shooting range....)

De Sciglio and Alaba are monsters and link up with Hazard and Reus very well

I hope Hazard and Reus improve this season it was disappointing not seeing them grow

Both their stats increased but their overall didn't

Sorry for the EXTREMELY long post but I had to sum up a whole season in one post... I hope you guys enjoy reading it and I'll update again next season

    Cheers

      Sunderland AFC: Nine Lives
      August 2013 Update

      Sunderland 0-0 Fulham

I didn't expect a win on debut despite the magnificent preseason results, but I did expect us to score. A bit of shuffling in the second half gave me a slightly tweaked first-choice starting 11, and we ended up bossing the game despite lacking goals.

      Southampton 0-2 Sunderland
      Ki 50', Roberge 68'

Southampton defended like lions in the first half, and we couldn't get anywhere near goal until about 35' when Fletcher went through against the keeper but shot wide. In the second half, Ki gave us a lead that I did not expect us to hold. A lucky corner some time later gave us the insurance we needed to collect our first three-pointer of the season. Unfortunately, Santiago Vergini broke his ankle defending a Southampton corner in injury time; he will be out for three months, and I will have to bring in a replacement.

      Crystal Palace 1-3 Sunderland
      Jedinak 31'
      Roberge 6' 41', Fletcher 9'

Going 2-0 up away from home within the first ten minutes is always a good sign, but it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to win. We played wonderfully to restrict a boisterous Palace side to just one goal, and for a defender to score a brace is just very special indeed, even more so when you consider he's just come in from a different club in another country.

      **********

      Analysis

A couple of small changes to the first XI helped us improve our play drastically: Vito Mannone for Keiren Westwood (GK), Craig Gardner for Phil Bardsley (RB), and Jack Colback for Liam Bridcutt (LDM). Speeding up our build-up as well as varying the length of our passing has made the play more fluid and our passing more accurate. As a result, we've seen more of the ball against all three teams we've played in the league. The next update will be on transfers in the summer 2013 window.

        Summer 2013 Transfer Update

This transfer window wasn't very active in terms of signings, but I managed to raise close to £5,500,000 in transfer fees and £160,000 in wages by letting go of deadwood and surplus players.

The following left Sunderland in the summer of 2013:

        - Ignacio Scocco to Cardiff City for £4,500,000
        - Oscar Ustari to Aston Villa for £875,000
        - John O'Shea to Bolton Wanderers for £700,000
        - Wes Brown to Reading for £600,000
        - Carlos Cuéllar to Fulham for £525,000
        - Lynden Gooch to Kilmarnock for £0
        - Louis Laing to Barnsley for £0
        - George Honeyman to Hearts on a season-long loan
        - El Hadji Ba to Walsall on a season-long loan

The following joined Sunderland in the summer of 2013:

        - Liam Moore from Leicester City for £1,000,000
        - Terence Kongolo from Chelsea on a season-long loan
        - Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid on a season-long loan

why put all the best teams in one league then play on world class and never lose? Bayern couldnt even make it thru the Bundesliga this year without losing, let alone never lose in some made up super league.

Champions League is gonna be a bore.

sounds like you just made the game really boring lolol

          no offense.

I realise you have the freedom to do it, but constantly criticising people for playing the game the way they choose to doesn't paint a good picture. I'm not telling you that you can't do it, but you might want to consider being a bit less abrasive when you post things like this. It's a game. You choose to play how you want to, and so do others.

And saying 'no offense' doesn't give you free pass to act like this.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

              TEAM: MAN UTD

so I decided to start another man utd career after my last one crashed because I wanted to return them back to glory after this season in real life(I'm a Chelsea dab btw) and so I started it and these are my summer signings and departures

              OUT:
Cleverly to Southampton - 3.4 mil
Welbeck to Stoke - 11.5 mil
              Van P. to PSG - 51 mil
Valencia to Real Madrid - 12 mil
Chicharito to Inter - 24 mil
Rooney to Real Madrid - 50 mil
Januzaj to Leicester City - loan

              IN:
              Marco Rues - 37 mil + nani
              Lewandowski - 64.5 mil
              Alexandre Song - 25.5 mil + Carrick
              Scuffet(a great young GK) - 5 mil
              Luke Shaw - 8.5 mil + Lindegaard
              Origi - 5 mil

I sold all my strikers because van persie was to slow for me and so was Rooney and Welbeck, I don't like him and Chicharito I don't like the way he plays.

I only wanted to buy realistic signings so since rues was linked to united I wanted to go out and buy him and man was that a good buy. in 18 appearances for united he has scored 16 and assisted 3- Great!

I bought Song because I plan on buying Gundogan in the future and have both of them create the best midfield partnership.

I bought Lewandowski because... well I don't really know he hasn't been playing good at all in 17 appearances he's only scored 5... just 5! so if came to the conclusion on selling him In the January transfer window and I will buy Wilfried Bony to replace him.

I strongly suggest that you get Orgi from losc Lille he is really pacey and a great young talent. I decided to replace Evra as he is getting old with Shaw.

I am thinking of buying Isco in the January because my CAM kagawa has only gotten 1 assist this season!

the funny thug is after all my buying and selling in the summer window I am left with
              Budget: 35,124,240
              Wages: 955,000

              lol so much wage budget^^

is anyone likening the idea of this career mode if so, any suggestions?

I know that you are trying to say something but do you have to be so arrogant? Have you not heard of a game being fun? A game that's fun?!? That must've never crossed your mind... I know I beat everyone in world class but that just shows me that I have to push it up I legendary which I was going to do ANYWAY.
I do t mind criticism but if you don't know the whole story don't criticise!

I pointed out that Champions League will be played JUST FOR THE PRIZE MONEY so I don't see why your smashing me about that

Bayern won the treble last season and are on their way to winning it again so it seems only right that I am beating almost everyone! They ALSO won the bundesliga in record time this season which allows Pep Guardiola to EXPERIMENT with younger players, HENCE why they lost some this season

If you have a problem with me trying to make competition for myself more difficult by using a super league then tell me POLITELY or KEEP IT QUIET

I see NOTHING wrong with having stronger competition when I would've walked over EVERY SINGLE BUNDESLIGA TEAM if I didn't decide to make one!

AND I am making this career mode a FUN one as I stated earlier. I already have a WOLVES career going so I want to break that up with some fun in managing the best team in the world at the moment

I've always wanted to do a Bayern career and this was the best way I could think of to make it COMPETITIVE

Adding no offence to the end doesn't make it any LESS OFFENSIVE! If anything it adds MORE OFFENSE

                Take your sulking somewhere else!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                      Hi!

I started a career with Sc Heerenveen, my favourite team. World class.
In summer transfer window, I sold my star player Finnbogason for 5 million, and I sold Zomer, otigba ( which sucked, because I liked him, but he wanted to leave ), and I loaned out Varga. I bought bangura from aik, grytebust from aalesunds, boly from auxerre, khumalo from doncaster, hovland, ekpo, and elyounoussi from molde fk.

                      I won my first 5 games, ajax ( 0-3 win ), utrecht ( 2-0 win ), heracles ( 0-1 win ), nec ( 2-0 win ), nac ( 0-4 win ).
Then I played a great away game in the Europa league against fiorentina, and played 2-2. Then in the eredivisie I lost from vitesse ( 1-0 ).

                      After that loss, I was in second position, so I wanted to win. I won from PEC Zwolle ( 3-1 win ), St.Gallen ( europa league, 1-4 win ), psv ( 1-2 win ), az ( 1-0 win ), estoril ( europa league, 1-0 win ). Then I lost against feyenoord, ( 2-1 loss ).

I was still in first position but with only one point. I managed to win agaist Ga eagles ( 2-0 win ), st.gallen ( 2-0 win, europa league ), then I lost again, against twente ( 3-2 loss ), after that I was in first position still.

I won from Groningen ( 3-1 win ), ado ( 2-4 win ), lost from fiorentina ( 0-2 loss ), won from cambuur! ( 4-1 win ), roda ( 0-4 win ), played 2-2 against estoril, so I managed to reach the knock out stage of the europa league, I won from rkc ( 5-1 win ), and won a cup match against az ( 2-0 win ).

I didn't do anything in the winter transfer window. I won 0-3 against nec, then I was 9 points ahead of psv! I won 5-0 from heracles, I won from ado ( 4-0 ), lost penaltys in a cup match against psv ( 2-2 ), won from fc groningen ( 1-2 ), fc utrecht ( 0-1 win ). In the europa league I played against frankfurt and won ( 0-0 draw and 0-1 win ), won 4-1 from ajax. And played 1-1 against twente. Then I lost big points against last place ga eagles, ( 1-1 ), won 2-0 from roda.

Then I had to play arsenal in the europa league, won both matches with very much luck ( 2-0 and 0-1 ). I beated cambuur! ( 0-2 win ), beated olympiakos in the europa league ( 1-0 win and 0-1 win ), lost from feyenoord ( 1-2 ), won from az ( 2-0 ), played 3-3 against rkc. then in the europa league semi finals, I had to play manchester city and I lost, ( 3-0 loss and 0-0 draw ). then I lost from vitesse ( 0-1 ). Then I was 8 points ahead of psv, with 3 games to go. I won 2-0 against nac, lost 2-3 against psv, and won 0-2 against pec zwolle. So I won the eredivisie, and I play in the champions league now.

I'm in June, and I want some contract expiry players for my team.
                      My first 11:
                      nordfeldt 73 ( + 2 )
                      van anholt 72 ( + 3 )

I'm in my first season as the manager for Espanyol, somehow I managed to win la liga. Never had so many. 1-0 victories and 0-0 draws playing fifa. But Barca and Madrid were terrible.

My issue is that some of the young players I bought are not progressing despite starting most of the games. In particular Sammi Ameobi. I purchased him from Newcastle with a. 69 overall rating . 21 goals later he is still 69 overall. Anyone know why he is not progressing?

I got the same, some players who are reserves in my team progress very quick when you don't even expect it. Batshuayi who has a pretty high ceiling didn't progress at all and is still 75 after two seasons in my Arsenal CM whilst I usually sub him in.

Some really great updates on here. Loved hearing about Espanyol winning La Liga, no matter why or how. Also great to see the concepts people are going with (French revolution).

This is one of the most vibrant career mode forums around, even if we don't always post feedback every time. Good stuff all around.
