excellent choice. I'm in my 3rd season (simmed the first, got 4th, played half of the second, finished 5th). van der vaart is still going strong. Make sure you keep Tah around the first team. Steinmann is another good one (injured for me right now). Nafiu is a nice squad player for me. Zoua is solid too. I'm interested to see how you progress with Hamburg. they are a perfect career mode team IMO

Adam Campbell is a pacey young striker. He's actually a Newcastle player on loan at St. Mirren, but the latest update has him at the Scottish club permanently and with a contract expiring at the end of the first season. Pick him up in the summer/January for under 500k and watch him grow. I've heard he hits 80+ OVR by his mid-20s and can be sold for over 20m at that point.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm not entirely sure I'm going with Hamburg - not due to any fault of theirs, but because I came up with a really novel idea for a career mode in England that would let me write a wonderful storyline (I write for a living).

Either Hamburg or the English club, I'll be writing in-depth story updates for this one, and I think it might interest and entertain a few of you.

I decided to get Dragovic in my Valencia career since he is pretty good and he was a free agent. The season has started pretty well with 7 points from three games. The draw was against Barcelona and I wanted to throw my PS3 out of the window when they equalized in the 80th minute with a HEADER FROM MESSI! He jumped higher than my 6'2 centre back WHO DIDN'T EVEN JUMP! At least I got a draw.

Also, if you have done/are doing a Super League career, who have you used or are using? I'm thinking of doing a Super League career with a League 2 team and taking them to the top to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern.

“Over the past summer months, Sunderland AFC has been working to devise a revolutionary plan that will benefit both the football club as well as the greater Sunderland community,” said Chief Executive Margaret Byrne. “We have identified a number of special avenues that need to be addressed in terms of holistic development of both club and community. Discussions are ongoing with managerial candidates, and we expect to finalise someone by the end of the week.”

Despite having six league titles to their name, Sunderland has not won a top flight championship since the 1935-36 First Division, nor have they won a major trophy since the 1973 FA Cup. Rumours of a possible revival have been met in the media with equal parts praise and scepticism. While some are saying that doubters have been silenced before in such situations, others claim that it will be almost impossible for Sunderland to repeat their past glories in an age of money.

“I don’t think we can genuinely hope to compete for the top prizes in English and European football these days,” said 72-year-old David Osgood, who has held a season ticket at the Stadium of Light for the past 57 years. “I was there (at Wembley) when we won the FA Cup in 1973, but I can’t honestly see us doing it again. And the league... the league is out of the question!”

His companion had other ideas, however. “I think it’s great that they’re trying to make an effort, but there has to be sense behind it all,” said 74-year-old Isaac Rose, a retired gardener who took Osgood to his first Sunderland game. “I think looking at how some clubs have done well in the last few years without piles of money, it’s definitely possible if you do it right. I’m really eager to see what the club has in mind.”

Despite the division in opinion, it remains to be seen just what the Sunderland hierarchy has in store for the coming season. One thing is for certain – Ellis Short and his team will have to pull a fierce rabbit out of their hats to win over the confidence of Sunderland’s discerning supporters.

Picked up Dragovic after my first season with hamburg. quality defender, consistent too. He and Sobiech start for me these days, Sobiech is solid, but if I land in the Champion's League again I may have to sell Sobiech and replace him with a better defender. CB depth right now: Dragovic, Sobiech, Westermann, Tah, Bell (too young to play much despite his 75 ovr)

June 1, 2013: Indiblue has been confirmed by Sunderland AFC as the club’s manager.

“We first met Indiblue a few weeks ago at the recommendation of one of our former managers who spoke highly of his astute reading of the game,” said Ellis Short, chairman of Sunderland AFC. “At first, he came across as quirky, but we were soon bowled over by his expansive knowledge and eagerness to succeed. Even then, we had absolutely no idea what we were heading into with this young man.”

Known in football circles for his refusal to acknowledge his birth name, the relative unknown is a shock appointment considering his quirky demeanour and relative lack of experience. Despite having worked no higher than the lowest tier of the Football League, he has the full backing of the Sunderland chairman and his board.

“I’m very proud to be on board at Sunderland,” Indiblue said. “If you ask me, clubs in the northeast are always neglected and forgotten, just like this part of England. While all the praise and development goes to Manchester and Liverpool, the likes of Sunderland are left in the cold. This club has a rich, storied past with plenty of tradition. We have some of the most rabid supporters in English football, and success will only serve to strengthen their love for the club.”

He added, “It all began as a series of meetings about football and managerial duties, but things evolved into discussions on how to jumpstart a wonderful city that had stagnated in terms of growth. The Sunderland Economic Masterplan came up, and I asked to meet with the concerned parties – a number of Tyne and Wear’s elected officials, the Sunderland City Council, and a representative of (development agency) One NorthEast – in order to incorporate Sunderland AFC into this redevelopment.”

The physiotherapy and journalism graduate went on to speak at length about the local economy, the club’s role in that economy over the past several years, and methods of creating more prosperity and opportunities in a long-overlooked part of England.

“The club has contributed more than £300 million to the local economy since our promotion from the Championship in the late 2000s, and I think we can increase that figure significantly. It’s a known fact that sporting success and city development go hand in hand. When the Guggenheim arrived in Bilbao, the city exploded in terms of growth, and Athletic Club benefitted greatly from that. We want to use that special link to create as much synergy as possible between the expansion of the club and the development of Sunderland and its city centre,” he said.

“This city was once a very proud bastion of English industry and culture, and now is the chance to give it a second outing – one that will last for centuries. As self-sufficiency is the eventual goal within the city, so it is within the club. We will not be spending senselessly, to fill up our squad with panic buys or on names that sell shirts. Our resources can and will be better allocated to develop ourselves from within, with a little help from outside. I ask the supporters to please be patient with us; this is not something that can happen overnight. Stick by us as you have always done, and this time your faith will be repaid.”

I just made a Super League career mode and put the best 16 teams in the game in the Russian Premier League (they have a cup, a good prize money of over 10 million if you win the league, and eligible for champions league if you finish top 2, not that champs league will be very competitive and also there is no relegation so the super league remains in place)

I either wanted to use Chelsea or Bayern and then decided to go for Bayern because even though they have an amazing team they have some old players that need to be replaced and the team needs to be set up for the future and they are fun to play with (it's a game your meant to have fun after all)

I swapped Robben and 13,500,000 for Reus, swapped Schweinsteiger for Gundogan, bought Lewandowski for 35 million, swapped Weihrauch and 7.7 million for De Sciglio, swapped Lahm for Ter Stegen, swapped Ribery for Hazard, swapped Starke and 11 million for Varane, swapped Contento and 2.8 million for Willems, bought Sebastian Jung for 4 million, swapped Dante and 12.5 million for Hummels and swapped Badstuber and 3 million for Victor Ibarbo

I did a lot of swap deals

Also got two free agents in Bruma and Kahraba and they both "have potential to be special" so will be giving them plenty of game time

If you want to use the English Leagues then use the teams and put them in the leagues I wrote in an earlier post if you want, saves you the trouble of thinking who to put in what league

Cheers, I hope to have big updates every 3-5 days, or every weekend. No super leagues for me. European glory is one of my favourite parts of any career.

Just sold one of my strikers for 20M and signed Gabriel from Santos for 2M. Im looking to improve my attack a little more and I was thinking Angel Correa from San Lorenzo. I wasn't expecting to sell my striker so I don't have much time to scout him out and get his value. Does anyone by chance have a general idea how much he is worth by the 2017 Summer transfer window?

I'm not sure which currency you play with, but he should be around £15 million around then, if not more. Depends on his form, morale and how much time he has left on his contract.
