    LIVERPOOL CAREER MODE

    League Cup Match 1

    Liverpool 4-0 Torquay United
    Sterling 15
    Verratti 27
    Ings 45
    Sturridge 80

A straightforward game that we dominated from start to finish. None of the goals were anything special, mainly shots from inside the box.

    Match 4

    Spurs 2-0 Liverpool
    Dembele 31
    Eriksen 72

We didn't deserve to lose this game. Dembele opened the scoring when he broke free of the defence and calmly slotted the ball under Mignolet. Eriksen scored the second after rounding the keeper and sliding it home. Gomes made a remarkable 14 saves to keep us of the score sheet.

    Champions League Match 1

    Liverpool 3-3 FC Porto
    Sturridge 38
    Lica 45
    Martinez 63
    Suarez 68
    Fernando 75
    Suarez 88

Mangala was unjustly sent off, despite clearly getting the ball, on the half hour mark. Sturridge then broke free and fired in from distance with his right foot. Lica exploited the gap in the defence to level the game. Martinez converted a powerful header that went through Mignolets gloves. Suarez equalised with a terrific finesse from 18 yards. Porto's Fernando curled home to take the lead before Suarez ran clear to level again.

    Match 5

    Liverpool 1-0 Wigan
    Fernando 42
Fernando scored his first goal for the club cutting in from the byline to curl into the far post.

    League Cup Match 2

    Liverpool 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday (aet)
    Coke 45
    Teixeira 62
    Dier 102

Playing a reserve side, we went down when Coke ran clear to fire home. Teixeira equalised with a thunderbolt from 20 yards. The game went to extra time when Dier converted at the third time of asking, first hitting the bar and then having his rebound blocked.

    Match 6

    Manchester United 1-1 Liverpool
    Rakitic 14
    Van Persie 32

Rakitic opened the scoring when he knocked the ball in as he was bought down by Jones. Van Persie scored a scrappy goal when his first touch ricocheted off of Mignolet, Marquinhos, Mangala and then himself to convert.

    Champions League Match 2

    Brondby IF 0-3 Liverpool
    Ings 8
    Zouma 14
    Flanagan 90

Ings opened the scoring when McManaman won possesion and whipped the ball in for Ings to convert with a diving header. Zouma then scored on the rebound after an Ings header from a corner was saved. Flanagan added a third spectacularly from 30 yards with a strike from 30 yards into the corner.

    Next Match: WEST HAM UNITED

Before the career I tested many, many formations and the 4-4-2 Holding was the best for me. And yes, the default one was one of the tested ones.

And then to the career itself. Well, f*ck me! I got f*cking bored again. It's impossible for me to get past January 2015. I've done it in two careers this year. And I have tried doing all the things you have listed before (realistic signings, starting with a lower league team etc.) but it never works! So yeah, now I'm asking for help AGAIN. What team to use for a career? And how to not lose interest in a season and-a-half?

Also, your Brighton career looks amazing, indiblue! I can't wait for the updates.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Over the weekend I started a new career with Wanderers FC in the A-League in Australia just for the fun of it. I enjoy playing in the A-League, and with the Wanderers because they are a newly formed team with no history yet and lots of young talent, and about 22 open spots on the roster.

I have played 2 seasons already and have finished first the league, and became the playoff Champion back to back. I'm trying to see how many years it will take me to get an offer from one of the bigger clubs in Europe. Plus I am also getting great youth talent from scouts, so Australia and New Zealand National teams will be better in the years to come.

I've set some rules until I get a job offer from one of those big clubs in Europe and they are:
        1. Only allowed to sim 10 games out of the season
        2. 5 year maximum at any club in Australia/New Zealand
        3. Promote and play at least 3 youth players (under age 21) every match
        4. Try to bring in a "big signing" each year if money is available

So what do you guys think? Would you be interested in hearing every now and then about this new series I'm doing? Thoughts? Let me know!

So I started a Hoffenheim career mode and enjoyed it for a season do two but once again I have just become bored of it. If anyone has any ideas for a team who are enjoyable to do a road to glory with please let me know. Ideally English but I don't really have any huge preferences.

I guess Simppu asked something along the same lines. I find that any club where money comes easily, either through budget or player sales or financial takeover, tends to get slightly boring after the second or third season. There are exceptions, but this has been my general experience.

Try to pick a club you know absolutely nothing about. This lets you bring in absolutely any players you want, and it also gives you room to manoeuvre in terms of how you grow. Get the academy going rather than buying big name talent, as developing your own lads until they get good enough to win titles always takes time.

Ok thanks, so I've decided to have a go with FC Lorient, they seem like an interesting team and I loved Jeremie Aliadiere on Fifa 13. I think competing with the money giants PSG and Monaco will be interesting and i'll attempt to get a Europe spot early on.Will try it out and post if it works.

                LIVERPOOL CAREER MODE

                Match 7

                Liverpool 3-1 West Ham United
                Sturridge 11
                Suarez 14
                Carroll 45
                Borini 79

Sturridge gave us the lead when he ripped Demel to pieces on the wing before firing into the top corner with the outside of his boot. Suarez extended the advantage when played through by Sturridge to hit it first time. Mignolet saved a Carroll penalty well but Carroll got one back through a header. Borini wrapped it up when Sterling hit the post but he was there for the rebound.

                Match 8

                Norwich City 0-1 Liverpool
                McManaman 82
The only goal came when Assaidi raced clear to whip it in to the far post for McManaman to squeeze in the header.

                Match 9

                Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle United
                Fernando 66
                McManaman 75

Fernando opened the scoring when he was played through by Gerrard to expertly curl home into the top corner. McManaman doubled the lead when he ran clear and rounded the keeper, firing into the empty net.

                Champions League Match 3

                Liverpool 3-0 PSG
                Suarez 24
                Sturridge 27
                Rakitic 73

Suarez gave us the lead when he rounded Douchez to fire in for an open goal. Sturridge doubled the lead when he chipped an onrushing Douchez on the volley expertly. It was wrapped up when after some scrappy defending, Pastore passed it straight to Rakitic to fire in. Mignolet made a remarkable 11 saves and Mangala and Marquinhos cleared off the line many times.

                Match 10

                Liverpool 6-1 QPR
                Phillips 4
                Sturridge 8
                Fernando 15
                Suarez 33
                Sterling 45
                Sturridge 50
                Sturridge 55

QPR took an early lead when Phillips' header hit the post but bounced in off the back of Mignolet. We responded immediately with Sturridge tackling Dunne and running clear to smash home. Fernando gave us the lead from 2 yards when a low ball by Suarez found his feet. Suarez then scored himself when Sturridge played him through after tackling Dunne. Sterling made it 4 on the rebound of a Sturridge shot that hit the bar. Sturridge made it 5 when he ran clear to fire home, once again after tackling Dunne. He made it 6 and completed his hat trick after attempting to round Green before resorting to firing between his legs from a tight angle.

                League Cup Match 3

                Manchester United 2-0 Liverpool
                Rooney 36
                Kagawa 76

We didn't deserve a win. A stupid mistake let Rooney in, and another let Kagawa.

                Next Game: SUNDERLAND

Ah ok. Just wondering as I use a 4-2-2-2 myself. There are a lot of formations I can use if I have 1 striker, but now that I'm using 2 strikers I couldn't find the right one until I landed on the 4-2-2-2 (customized so the strikers would be closer together. Made a difference on my game)

You had stated your favorite team is Real Madrid right? Possibly that's why you lost interest after a while since I'm assuming you don't feel passion for the team - I mean, they're your rivals dude

Outrage. The reigning champions of England have been taken down a peg, or 3. Allegations involving the owner, the players and the money have resulted in something huge. In a programme of BBC Panorama, the truth behind Manchester City's losses, that resulted in just a smaller squad in the UEFA Champions League, were uncovered.

The owner Sheikh Manseur has been arrested. The money spent on these players, Nasri, Jovetic etc. was unreal. Allegations of match fixing resulting in punishment. The Champions are now in the Football League 2. With no-one. Players are outraged, but a group of youngsters aren't. They see opportunity. The chance to be recognised. Man. City will be rebuilt. As the world class names flee to other Premiership clubs, the likes of Marcos Lopes stayed. In fact only Marcos Lopes stayed. A young boy with ambition. Now the captain of New Manchester City.

Inspired by bhurst99's superb templates, I tried MWord, and, after choosing a template, just put in some stuff. It's a bit cluttered, and I need to take two screenshots to get everything, but if you like it, that's great.

Lol why? Thought it was a good idea. Juventus in 2006 came to mind. Why not instead of getting rid of everybody keep at least 1 of the star players making him the loyal player that refused to abandon the team in difficult situations. Going back to Juventus, they sold 7 key players because of the scandal, but Buffon stayed despite playing an outstanding World Cup. Del Piero also stayed and I can't remember the 3rd that stayed. So maybe you don't have to do a complete makeover, keep a few of the players that have been with the team the longest.

Also very similar to Rangers F.C.

Obviously not the same level on a European scale as the other clubs, but were one of the best in their domestic league and had to drop all the way to the bottom tier and work their way back up. They are finally moving up to the 2nd tier next season and should probably be back in the top tier for 2015/16.

Thanks for the idea. I may go back to it now. Just a question, should I try to buy the players or change them using custom squads?
