Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Good work in the Europa League, Chico! You could take a look at Simeon Slavchev in the Free Agents (68 ovr with 80 pot). Andres Robles from the Santiago Wanderers of Chile looks quality. The Scottish Ryan Jack could also be useful. Check the free agents for someone good.

I won't spoil anything but what an end the season will have for Hertha! It will be really stressful for us. I'll try to get the last update of May posted later today. I've got only two games left and I'll play them right after finishing this.

    Becoming the Best

    February 2014

    Hertha 2 - 1 Nuremberg
    Ramos 50', 57'
    Gebhart 30' pen

Hertha 5 - 2 Kaiserslautern, DFB Pokal Quarter Final
    Stocker 9', Kovacic 13', 86', Ramos 40', Origi 54'
    Idrissou 50', 66'

Hertha played amazingly against the team from the second league. The new signings Kovacic and Origi scored their first goals and helped us to victory. Hertha started the scoring early with Ramos playing a passback from the box to Lasogga which got intercepted by Kaiserslautern's centreback. He took a bad touch and Stocker stole the ball and put it to the net. A bit later Kovacic received a pass. The young Croatian took a couple of steps and unleashed a powerful shot that bounced off the crossbar to the goal. Ramos scored a third when he cut inside from the left flank. Our sub Origi scored a really simular goal and Kovacic got later his second. The opponent's Idrissou scored two in his last cup game ever, both after nice over-the-top passes. After the final whistle Ganchev and the players celebrated for a long time.

    Hamburger SV 0 - 3 Hertha
    Ginter 23', Lasogga 38' pen, Lasogga 76'

    Stuttgart 0 - 2 Hertha
    Lasogga 35', Ramos 45'

    Schalke 1 - 0 Hertha
    Farfan 11'

Hertha were the better team. The Berliners had three times more shots than Schalke. The shots were either poor of their keeper saved everything. Schalke's goal was also lucky: after a freekick which was blocked by our defender the rebound bounced right to Farfan who scored with a volley. It wasn't easy to lose like that.

    March 2014

    Hertha 2 - 0 Freiburg
    Depay 48', Skjelbred 73'

    Hertha 1 - 0 Bayern Munich
    Lasogga 38' pen

A really important result for our title hopes. It was amazing to beat our biggest title rivals in front of the full Olympiastadion. We dominated against the holding champions with 58% possession and with our seven shots to their three. We played really well and continued our winning streak. The winner came from the 12 yard mark. Lasogga got ran over after a corner and the referee pointed at the spot. Our dangerous forward shot the ball to the right. Neuer guessed correctly but couldn't save it. Bayern had also a few injuries.

    Mainz 1 - 2 Hertha
    Müller 56'
    Lasogga 31', Origi 88'

    Borussia Mönchengladbach 3 - 4 Hertha
    Raffael 13' pen, 54', 77'
    Lasogga 56', Depay 61', Raffael 68' OG, Ginter 82'

This has to be one of the best games of the season! Borussia got a two goal lead after Raffael scored twice. At that point he was the hero. Hertha couldn't break through Mönchengladbach's defence and Borussia seemed like the upcoming winner. But in the second half everything changed. What happened in the dressing room will remain as a secret. Lasogga received the ball at the edge of the box. He got around their centreback with a burst of pace and he slotted the ball to the bottom left corner. 5 minutes after that the new signing Memphis Depay cut in from the right, skilled his way into shooting distance and unleashed a powerful shot with his left foot which flew beautifully to the top net. After that we got a corner which was headed by Ginter. It was going in anyway but Raffael tried to clear it off the line. He failed and put the ball to the back of the net and gave Hertha the lead. Then he redeemed himself by finishing his hattrick to the right goal. But the Berliners fought and scored from a corner at the 82nd minute. Raffael went from a hero to a zero. Ofcourse it had to the ex-Hertha man.

    Hertha 1 - 0 Hannover
    Ramos 19'

Bayern Munich 0 - 2 Hertha, DFB Pokal Semi Final
    Ramos 50', 87'

Hertha have reached the final of the cup! In their amazing away triumph against the favourites Bayern Munich Hertha were able to get another victory in one month. Hertha played well and once again were better than the Bavarians. They had many chances but the goal came in the second half. Adrian Ramos got the ball on the left at the edge of the box. He cut in, ran past the defenders and shot the ball to the right corner. The couple of thousand Hertha fans couldn't believe their eyes. The joy was overwhelming. At the end of the match the Colombian striker got his second goal after a succesful counter. At the 80th minute we saw an interesting substitution. The captain Lustenberger was subbed off for Levan Kobiashvili, the 37 years old vice captain who is playing his last season. After the final whistle Ganchev ran on to the pitch to celebrate with the players. Few of them were crying from joy.

    League Table, April 1st

    1) Bayern Munich, 64 pts
    2) Hertha BSC, 62 pts
    3) Bayer Leverkusen, 58 pts
    4) Borussia Dortmund, 54 pts
    5) Schalke 04, 52 pts
    6) VfL Wolfsburg, 51 pts

    16) SC Freiburg, 25 pts (playoff spot)
    17) FC Augsburg, 24 pts
    18) Eintracht Braunschweig, 11 pts

    April 2014

    Hertha 4 - 1 Hoffenheim
    Kovacic 20', Depay 30', 86', Rode 66'
    Volland 61'

    Bayer Leverkusen 3 - 3 Hertha
    Kiessling 34', Bender 61', Castro 90'
    Ramos 24', Stocker 45', Lasogga 74'

A really tough and nerve-racking game. Ganchev and his players couldn't believe their eyes when Gonzalo Castro equalized in the last minute. The squad lost their fighting spirit after the header. The big surprise came right after the game when Hetha's players and staff heard about Bayern Munich's 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen. If Hertha won, they would be now only 1 point behind the Bavarian giant. After hearing that Ganchev lied on the floor covering his face. Many other players aswell looked broken when lieing on the grass.

    FC Augsburg 0 - 2 Hertha
    Depay 32', Rode 78'

    Hertha 4 - 0 Eintracht Braunschweig
    Ramos 15', 72', Stocker 51', Rode 64'

League Table, May 1st, 2 Games Left

    1) Bayern Munich, 71 pts
    2) Hertha BSC, 69 pts
    3) Bayer Leverkusen, 68 pts
    4) VfL Wolfsburg, 60 pts
    5) Schalke 04, 59 pts
    6) Borussia Dortmund, 57 pts
    -----------------------------------
    16) SC Freiburg, 28 pts (playoff spot)
    17) FC Augsburg, 27 pts
    18) Eintrach Braunschweig, 12 pts

Press Conference Before Last Two Games

Congratulations, Mr Ganchev, for becoming second and for being still in the title race. Does this surprise you?

Not at all, to be honest. I told you in the summer that we would be fighting with the best German teams for the title. We all in Hertha are really concentrated on winning our remaining two games and everyone is pumped and ready. Then again, it isn't all about us. We need good results from Bayern's games to get the title. The board has promised big bonuses for us in Hertha and for Bayern's opponents if they manage to get a nice result. Winning the league would be a tremendous success and everyone in Berlin would be really, really happy. We want to win the title for the people aswell, not only us.

Speaking of results, let's talk about the 3-3 draw against Leverkusen. I bet it felt terrible.

I can't describe it with words. To play wonderfully and then to lose the two points in the final minute, that's just cruel. And when we add Bayern's result on that day, it was worse than the best Greek tragedy. But we have gotten over it and we don't think about it.

How about progressing in to the cup final?

It's just amazing and wonderful. Especially because we played our semifinal on Bayern's ground. Beating them away felt really good. I'm really proud of my team and in my opinion the cup can be given already to Hertha. Mönchengladbach are worse than us and they know it.

What are your opinions on your transfers? How have they played for the team?

As we all have seen everyone has been really good for us. Fabian (Johnson) is doing everything on that left side, Mateo (Kovacic) is an amazing passer and he's got many assists. And Memphis (Depay) is a really good player as I've said before. He's attacking, defending, creating chances, shooting, passing, he's basically doing almost everything a player could do. Divock (Origi) as well has been great as a substitute and he has netted some important goals for us.

Why did you decide to start using Lustenberger as a holding midfielder?

When Sebastian Rode got his red card I thought about who to use as a replacement. Lustenberger can play that position and he has played it. I decided to give him a go, then another start there and another and then he had taken the spot from Seb (Rode). Fabian is also more defencive and that's what I wan't.

Is it true that you received a coaching offer from FC Barcelona?

Yes, it is true. But I didn't even think about accepting it. Hertha is everything for me right now and I'll stay here for many years. I want to finish the project we started.

    Starting XI (4-3-3 Holding Custom):

    Kraft
    Jung - Ginter - Schär - Johnson
    Lustenberger (C)
    Stocker - Kovacic
    Depay - Lasogga - Ramos

Hope you have enjoyed this long (I hope it doesn't get annoying to read) post! Any feedback and suggestions are appreciated! Thank you for reading!

It all started when Shahid Khan took over the role as chairman in the club in July 2013. He saw what direction the club was headed and he didn't want any part of it. The first step he took in what he thought was needed to do was to sack the current manager, Martin Jol and his entire staff.

Khan wanted someone new, but also a man who is known everywhere in the world of football. Khan who is a successful business man knows how much revenue and attention having a high profile manager would bring to the club. He didn't want there to be a grey cloud over Craven Cottage anymore.

This is actually pretty interesting! It's also good and interesting to read. But one suggestion: you could put the text in the centre.

Thanks for the feedback Simppu12. The text is centered now and I will continue to do that from now on.

I'll try to write a squad introduction today too.

I think you'll find he'll give you at least 4 or 5 goals off set pieces.

Well done to get into the top four, but I'm not surprised. This was coming. But oh, what could have been if you'd defeated Barcelona! No worries, I'm sure that you will do well in the second the half of the season to finish well within your goals. Good luck in the UCL round of 16!
Thanks! I'm excited to have the pace of both Deulofeu and Depay on the outside, going to be hell for opponents on the counter. Glad to see some good reviews for Martinez as well. I've never had him on a team before so I'm excited to have him come over. The Barca game was rough, but I'll just say that we left everything out on the field in the 2nd leg, but I won't give away the result until the next update which will include the first leg of the CL round of 16 as well.

No joke! After the injury trouble I went through all last season, it came back this year. Depay even missed a couple weeks, but luckily it was in a month that didn't have too many games. But as for players missing significant amounts of time this season, it's been Camdal who was out for 3 months earlier this season but is back now, Bruno Martins Indi tore his ACL and is missing 7 months, and now Jonathan Dos Santos is out for 4 months. Time to drop a youth scout and allocate those funds to that priest you were talking about!

Cuellar is a class signing had him in my PSV career mode but didn't use him due to me scarping it I'm thinking about buying him in my next career mode, his stats for a 69 rated player are awesome.

                TOON TO THE TOP
                SEASON 1

Cheick Tiote exits the club for £4.7 million to Sampdoria. It is thought he was annoyed by the cold whether on Tyneside and wanted to go to the warmer countries in the South of Europe.

Juan Dominguez has joined Newcastle United for a £3.5 million fee. The manager stated "The lad has brilliant technical ability, has time on his side, and he has the ability to be a brilliant replacement for Cheick.

Memphis Depay has joined Newcastle, their second acquisition this summer. The young Netherlands international operates on the wings and will join for a fee of Yoan Gouffran and £6.4 million. The player saide "I am excited to join the club. The boss explained his ambitions and he told me he wanted me to be a crucial part of it. I am completely on board and wanted to join"

                Young Man Leaves Tyneside
Young centre forward Adam Armstrong has departed Newcastle to play for Doncaster in a £700,000 deal.

Burnley striker Danny Ings has arrived at Newcastle to complete his £3.5 million signing. Jamiec47 said "I looked at him and I think he can be a brilliant long term attacker for us"

                Abdul Razak Joins Toon
The young West Ham midfielder, who can operate across the midfield, has completed a loan deal to Newcastle.

Aston Villa and Netherlands defender Ron Vlaar has completed a switch to Newcastle, with Fabricio Collocini going the other way. Jamie had this to say, "Fabricio was unsettled and we wanted Vlaar, so I met with Colo and explained to him that he could go to Aston Villa. He jumped right on board and we successfully pulled Vlaar away in a deal that made all parties happy. He is a rock in defence and I hope he can display that for us."

John Obi Mikel has made the switch to Newcatle for £4.6 million. He is a well known player and Newcastle have got a brilliant player. Apparently unhappy with the lack of playtime he is said to be delighted by the move.

                Goodbye Cisse
Unhappy with being pushed out of the starters, along with the new shirt deal of Wonga, Cisse has departed to Genoa for £4 million.

A Tiger has became a Magpie
Hull City defender, James Chester, has completed his £2.5 million switch to Tyneside. When asked about it he said, "I am elated to join a club of this stature, and with such a good history. I hope to show the manager I can become a first choice defender, by pushing myself to succeed"

                  TOON TO THE TOP
                  SEASON 1

                  Match 1

                  Manchester City 3-1 Newcastle
                  Fernandinho 50
                  Sissoko 61
                  Nasri 85
                  Fernandinho 90

After some frantic defending and an excellent save, Fernandinho was able to smash in on the rebound. A clever tactical change by me, bringing on Dominguez for Ben Arfa, allowed Sissoko to get forward and on his first driving run he scored. Unfortunately, Nasri's effort took a lethal deflecton off of Santon and Fernandinho whacked in on the counter attack.

Hatem Ben Arfa has left Newcastle in a £7.5 million deal to Fulham. Jamiec47 explained the sale, "Hatem is a quality player, but his attitude and underlying injury problems meant he was not the best fit for our team. Fulham came in and we accepted the deal."

                  Match 2

                  Newcastle 2-1 West Ham
                  Carroll 9
                  Dominguez 19
                  Mikel 40

Carroll gave West Ham an early lead, heading into an empty net after Krul failed to get to the ball after running out. Dominguez got the equaliser on his first start, a scrappy one though. The ball pinballed around and Dominguez was there to bundle in from 2 yards. Mikel won it with a rare goal, heading in at the far post.

                  Match 3

                  Newcastle 0-0 Fulham
Such a dull game. Begovic and Stekelenberg made a few saves but they weren't spectacular.

Newcastle have made two goalkeeping signings in Bosnia international Asmir Begovic, and Netherlands international Jasper Cillessen. The confusing part about the deal was that both Ajax and Stoke now have rights to Tim Krul, as he was used in a swap deal. How will this strange occurrence be solved?

Argentina international defender, Marcos Rojo, has signed for Newcastle for £6 million. He is said to be delighted to take another step in his career.

After a couple of weeks of business we are proud to introduce the 2013/14 Fulham Football Club squad. There have been several tough decisions, especially letting our captain Brede Hangeland go in order to get Eric Dier in a deal with Sporting. But we feel that these moves are what are the best for the future of the club. This will be a new youth movement in the club so we understand if you, the fans will question the decisions made by the club. But that is what makes you the best fans in the world.

We strongly believed the club needed a new start. So by trading away veteran players on high wages we managed to rebuild a broad squad with a lot of young talents. We understand that the fight against relegation will be even tougher without the veteran leadership we had. But we believe that we soon will become a competitive club.

                    So here is the squad.

We believe this is the best for the club going forward.
                    Diego Maradona, Shahid Khan.
                    So here's a quick analasys.
The following big name veterans are no longer in the club.
GK Stockdale, CB Heitinga, CB Hangeland, CM Sidwell, ST Rodallega, ST Mitrouglou, RM Dejagah, RB Riether, CM Diarra, ST Darren Bent, CM Boateng.

Heres the biggest of many questions. Who is going to play up front in their 4-3-3? After getting rid of Rodallega, Mitrouglou and Darren Bent. Who is going to score goals for Fulham? Can the loanees Sanogo or Kane do the job? Or will the new young guns in Benzia or El Haddadi be able to pull the trigger?

Juan Dominguez has joined Newcastle United for a £3.5 million fee. The manager stated "The lad has brilliant technical ability, has time on his side, and he has the ability to be a brilliant replacement for Cheick.
Woah woah woah! I never authorized the sale of Juan Dominguez! I'm going to need to have a talk with the board about this...

I know I missed out on a lot of good stuff though but I'll be tuning in for future episodes.
Thanks! Yeah, it was crazy and of course a lucky game to record live because of the way it ended. Glad to hear you'll be tuning in, I love your Wimbledon career mode. I may not always get to comment on it and whatnot just because there are so many good career modes here that I'm reading through but I love how you've taken the team and used them to your own style and even moved players around to fit the position that they would best suit the team with such as your striker turned mid. That's real managing!

I think it was your previous video where you had someone make an incredible long pass from your own corner to your forward ending up on a nice goal. That was SWEET! AND you run a 4-1-2-1-2 like me so I enjoy that
Understandable, I feel the same way with so many great career modes on here it's tough to be able to reply to them all and I'm often a silent follower! Yeah, that one was in the last episode when Ings scored against Southampton it was pretty crazy... Thanks! I do enjoy the 4-1-2-1-2, it ended up finding its way back to me after being my go to in FIFA 13 as well, just seems to work out very well and glad you use it to success as well! Keep up your work on Dagenham!

                          Aston Villa 1-3 Newcastle

                          Everton 0-0 Newcastle
Despite dominating the match, Tim Howard successfully made so many saves it was unreal.

Glad to see he already got a goal for you. He really develops into an amazing passer. I hope he works out well for you, he fits in great in a playmaker role.

My next update should be the 3rd quarter update on my Alcorcon CM which I can say for sure will have both good and bad news ...

I have to get through maybe 4 or 5 games more though so that may not come until the weekend.

I know I used to complain about the budget issues here which is why I ended up using the financial takeover, but Dagenham makes Alcorcon's budget look like Real Madrid's
