Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
OK Guys. I played the transfer window of 3 careers, Inter, Bilbao and Newcastle. I didn't update them though. Inter was OK, and may come into play in the future, Bilbao is one I hated but Newcastle. Love it. So we're staying in England, but it will be long term where I switch between clubs. My aims for Newcastle before I leave:
Win the FA Cup
Become a staple European qualifier
Reach the Champions League
Win the league?
First update tomorrowComment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Oh wow, that's not nice and it hurt a lot. I'll report you to the police for bullying. Nah, just kidding.
But in all seriousness, thanks a lot for pointing that out! I'm probably still in holiday mood because firstly I forgot to write the press conference. At the end I decided that the signings were commented and a conference wasn't needed. Secondly, I forgot to add the league table. Now it's there but I'll also put it in this post.
Well, Depay is a good player with potential and he played well in the World Cup. Of course we'll buy him. And to be honest, I was also looking at Indi's top guy Buckley but I decided to get the Belgian boy.0
And here's the league table which has been added to the January update:
Spoiler1) Bayern München, 49 pts
2) Bayer Leverkusen, 45 pts
3) Borussia Dortmund, 38 pts (16 GD)
4) Hertha Berlin, 38 pts (13 GD)
5) Borussia Mönchengladbach, 36 pts
6) Hamburger SV, 35 pts
-------------------------------------
16) FC Augsburg, 14 pts (playoff spot)
17) SC Freiburg, 13 pts
18) Eintracht Braunschweig, 10 ptsvrabbit

Indiblue's press conference @ The Amex
First of all, congratulations on winning the league. How does it feel?
Wow, just wow. I can't think of any words right now. The lads deserve all the credit. They put on some brilliant performances, and each of them played their hearts out to win this trophy. For me, it's a very special day as I get to see these boys rewarded for all the effort they've put in over the last ten months.
Three seasons with Brighton, just two of them in the top flight, and you've already got a league title. That's a mighty fine accomplishment.
The thing with Brighton is that this club has been consistently challenging for promotion since the start of this decade. The quality was there long before I showed up. You could say that they should have been in the Premier League one or two years before I came in, finishing lower mid-table and consolidating for an assault on the top spots.
Our achievement is down to the fact that there are some extremely talented footballers in this side. It doesn't matter where we were two or three seasons ago. All that counts is that we're the English champions.
But the financial factor is a major talking point.
I don't think it should really be much of a shock that a team can win the league having spent the kind of money we have. Paying £40 million for a player who scored 30 goals the previous season doesn't mean he's actually worth that. The performances he puts in after moving, that's what counts. Just because there are no household names in my team doesn't mean they aren't the best footballers this country's top flight has to offer.
But yes, I can see why some people will revel in the fact that a team assembled on less than £30 million has won the league. It's a refreshing twist from clubs who buy superstars rather than develop promising talent, but those clubs deserve credit. Manchester City ran us to the last day, and Chelsea were arguably the best attacking side in the league all season.
But you beat them 4-0 at Stamford Bridge. Nobody does that.
That was quite a pleasing win. To see Will (Buckley) really grab hold of that game tells you what kind of player he is. A brace plus two assists is amazing enough on its own, but against Chelsea those figures are just phenomenal. He's the best English footballer in the world by a country mile.
Yet he's not been selected for the Euros.
I don't want to comment on another manager's team selection. Roy Hodgson did what he thought best. Will has had a great year, with 16 goals in the league alone and 25 in all competitions. Next season, he will get to show everyone how good he really is by competing against the best teams in Europe during our Champions League campaign. Hopefully, that will be recognised by those responsible for national team selections.
What about Nicklas Bendtner? There were issues at the start of the season.
Yes, but clearly there are none now. How can you have a problem with a player who plays two consecutive 30-goal seasons? Nicky has added an element of assists to his game this year, and sure he has scored a few less than last season, but he's still been responsible for 30 goals in the league. The key was to get him moving in the right ways that suit him and our system. Once we figured that out early this year, he started pounding in the goals just like he did last season.
So will he be at the club next season?
We have two months until the transfer window closes, and that's a very long time. A lot can happen between now and then, especially when you're a relatively small title-winning club. The bigger teams are invariably going to try to buy our best players, but the board and I are committed to holding on to this team. This is not a club looking to profit by selling its best players. Thanks to the increased revenue of the Premier League and our sensible spending habits, we've already paid off most of the debt on our stadium. With next season's Champions League revenue hopefully becoming a regular thing, we will be able to expand our stadium and brand over the next few years. By the end of this decade, we hope to be operating with minimal and manageable debt, if not turning a minor annual profit. But I can promise you and the fans of this club that Tony Bloom and I will do everything in our power to prevent this squad from being torn apart.
But Lewis Dunk has announced that he's requested a transfer and wants to leave for a club where he can play regularly.
I would have preferred that Lewis kept that between him and us, but these things aren't in our hands. Lewis is free to look for a club that will have him, but they will need to pay the right price. He won't be going for a cut price.
Sherif Ekramy was also released.
Yes, and while Sherif was always 100% prepared and committed, he simply wasn't a vital member of this squad. It sounds cruel, but the reality is that some players are expendable. He wasn't mislead to think otherwise. All my boys know exactly where they stand with me, and when Sherif told us that he'd found a club who wanted to have him play regularly, we did not want to stand in his way. Brighton wishes him all the very best in the future.
Is it true you've been offered jobs to manage Brazil and Juventus?
Yes, I have received offers from the Brazilian federation as well as from Juventus. However, I feel that duties as Brazil manager would prevent me from being able to give 100% to Brighton, which is where I wish to remain.
Are you ruling out a move to another club?
I am, definitely and comprehensively.
You've been quietly re-structuring the youth academy at Brighton and have some promising lads waiting in the wings, yes?
Oliver Bunney has been leading the scouting and development programme with some verve. He's found and helped shape some very promising players. I think Jake Rosenior and Gil Vicente are the ones you boys in the press find to be the most talented. They're only 16, so there's still time to go until we consider promoting them to the first team, but we will be integrating some academy players into the first team over the next two or three seasons.
Tell us about your three Bosman signings.
Alexandre Lacazette is a striker who hasn't fulfilled his full potential at Lyon, and we hope that he will add depth to our team while becoming as good as he can be with Brighton. As for Gregory van der Wiel, we had to make a move after Jonathan decided to retire early this season. He'll do well given his performances during PSG's last three seasons as French champions.
Maxime Gonalons is arguably the most controversial. He came out of Lyon's youth academy and was the captain up until this season. To have signed a player of that stature is wonderful for us, but to have got Alex along with him is a stunning piece of work from our player recruitment team.
It's safe to say Lyon won't be doing business with you in the future.
No, not for the next few years I would presume!
Can you confirm your interest in Abdul Razak and Jordon Ibe?
We have agreed a fee for Abdul with Manchester City, but that's contingent to certain other circumstances and movements. It's now down to the player to accept the terms laid out in front of him. Of course, there will be a bit of back and forth during negotiations, but the ball is in his court. We have approached Liverpool regarding Jordon, and a deal is being negotiated.
Let's wrap this up. What will we see from you next season?
What would you like to see?
Retain the title, have a good run in Europe, and revert to the 4-3-3.
I can promise you that one of those things will surely happen.
Congratulations again, Indi.
Thank you very much.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
SpoilerHello everyone! I'm finally back from my holiday (again). So yeah, it's Hertha time.
Great results and congrats on winning the title, Indi! And don't you dare leave Brighton. Your league and Europa League runs have also been tremendous, ChicoBass. And everyone else is doing really well and I enjoy reading everything here.
Becoming the Best
The transfer window is open again! Thanks to the German winter break Hertha BSC will have only two important matches in the first month of the new year. Hertha's manager Ganchev hasn't commented any of his transfer targets. According to fans, the club needs a left-back and a central midfielder.
January 2014
Hertha 2 - 4 Wolfsburg
Stocker 28', 58'
Vieirinha 25', Olic 45', De Bruyne 51', Träsch 63'
We got humiliated by Wolfsburg again, this time in front of our fans. The Volkswagen-owned team got to a good start thanks to a Vieirinha curling shot. Valentin Stocker equalized right after kickoff and Hertha kept the ball. After a bad pass by Rode Wolfsburg started a counter which led to a headed goal by the Croatian veteran. Right after the start of the second half de Bruyne dribbled past all of my defenders and smashed the ball from inside the box to the bottom corner. Stocker equalized again but couple minutes later Träsch scored the fourth. Their keeper Benaglio played really well and saved 6 of our shots.
Frankfurt 2 - 2 Hertha
Joselu 32', Meier 57'
Ramos 13', Skjelbred 85'
Not a good result. We were the better team and deserved to win but our finishing was poor. Rode picked up a red card.
Transfers
In
Mateo Kovacic
€8.5 million
An amazing signing for Hertha! Ganchev proved his skill as a manager by getting the 20-year-old midfielder to join the newly promoted side from the Italian not-anymore-so-great Inter Milan. Many fans questioned the record-high price of €8.5 million but Ganchev was sure Kovacic would pay off the price.
"When Hertha messaged me, I was pretty sure I'd stay in Milano. But then when Ganchev came personally to Italy to negotiate with me and Inter and I heard about his targets and his passion I was ready to join. I'm looking forward to playing for this great side and I'll try to win as many trophies as I can. It will be a fun challenge", commented the young Croatian.
Fabian Johnson
€1.2 million
"A really cheap price for an amazing fullback", said Ganchev after the signing. And many agree. Johnson is one of the league's best left-backs and Hertha got a really good deal. The American 26-year-old is ready to shine in Berlin.
"I have always admired Hertha and Ganchev seems like a great guy and a great manager. I'm sure we'll win many trophies with this team", were the words of the US international who had 6 months left on his contract.
Divock Origi
€500.000 + Sami Allagui
A surprise signing for basically every Berliner. No-one was expecting Ganchev to let go of Allagui - especially for an unproven 19-year-old.
Divock is a good lad full of potential. I'm sure he'll shine at the World Cup later this year", commented Ganchev after buying Origi from the French Lille. The young man didn't want to comment his arrival.
Memphis Depay
€2.8 million + Anis Ben-Hatira
A deadline day signing by Ganchev that excited many fans. The 21-year-old Dutch player is considered one of Holland's greatest talents. Ganchev commented the signing by calling Depay "Fantastic winger who gives always 110 percent" and "A star for the future". Sadly for the fans the deal saw Ben-Hatira going across the border.
"I'm ready for Germany and I've always wanted to play in the Bundesliga. This will be a test for me but I'll do my best. I'm looking to get to the first team quicky and to help the team."
Out
Ronny
€7.5 million
One of the two sold players was the fan-favourite Brazilian freekick specialist Ronny. He was an important man but Saint-Etienne made an offer Hertha couldn't refuse. Selling of the midfielder opened the doors to Mateo Kovacic financially, though.
"I love club and it will always remain in my heart. The club wanted me to leave and they received a good offer. I wish them the best", Ronny commented.
Peer Kluge
€160.000
The veteran left the club after not getting to play in any of the matches. Ganchev didn't comment the deal at all.
League Table, February 1st 2014
1) Bayern München, 49 pts
2) Bayer Leverkusen, 45 pts
3) Borussia Dortmund, 38 pts (16 GD)
4) Hertha Berlin, 38 pts (13 GD)
5) Borussia Mönchengladbach, 36 pts
6) Hamburger SV, 35 pts
-------------------------------------
16) FC Augsburg, 14 pts (playoff spot)
17) SC Freiburg, 13 pts
18) Eintracht Braunschweig, 10 pts

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Brighton & Hove Albion
Taking Flight
Fee agreed for Jordon Ibe
Brighton & Hove Albion have come to an agreement with Liverpool FC for the £600,000 transfer of 20-year-old England U21 striker Jordon Ibe. The promising forward agreed a five-year contract worth £10,000 per week and will wear the number 18 shirt.
Agreement reached with Manchester City
Manchester City have agreed to sell Abdul Razak for a fee of £1.4 million. The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international, who can play anywhere in midfield as well as on the wings, signed a five-year deal worth £25,000 per week and will wear the number 17 shirt.
Grimaldo signs for Brighton
Left back Alex Grimaldo has been signed from FC Barcelona B for a fee of £800,000. The Spain youth international aged 20 holds tremendous potential and was tied to a five-year contract worth £5,000 per week, during which time he will wear the number 20 shirt.
Loan deal agreed for Arrizabalaga
Basque side Athletic Club have agreed to loan promising 21-year-old goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to Brighton for the 2016-17 season. The club will pay his £5,000 per week wages in full, and he will wear the number 22 shirt during his tenure.
Bosman trio link up with Brighton
Maxime Gonalons, Alexandre Lacazette, and Gregory van der Wiel have joined up with Indiblue's squad at the preseason training camp in Germany. The trio were signed on free transfers, signing five-year contracts ranging from £35,000 to £60,000 per week. Former Lyon captain Gonalons has taken the number 24 shirt, while Lacazette will wear number 19 and van der Wiel number 2.
The team has travelled to the continent in order to partake in VfB Stuttgart's annual preseason tournament, the Mercedes-Benz Invitational. Among the other clubs at this year's edition are Hannover 96 and Palermo, both of whom we will play in addition to the hosts.
Aranguiz swaps 7 for 16
Charles Aranguiz today requested a change of shirt, trading in his old number 7 for the vacant number 16. The Chilean clarified that there was a sentimental reason behind the change.
"When I was a young boy playing in the youth setup of Cobreloa, I wore the number 16 shirt," he said. "I took the number 7 when I came to Brighton as it was available and the manager wanted me to wear that shirt. In England, it is one of the most cherished shirt numbers. But this season, I just wanted to go back to the number I enjoy wearing."
Despite the player's outright statement otherwise, rumours abound that Brighton hierarchy orchestrated the switch to ensure that the iconic number remains available to their expected marquee signing. Indiblue was quite forthcoming in his response.
"To suggest that I or anyone at this club would ask a player to change shirt numbers so that a new signing can have it is ludicrous," he said. "That's highly disrespectful to someone who's been at the club. Charles was a vital part of the title-winning team, and he remains an important player. This is absolute nonsense."Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
I can't remember if you've already mentioned this, but it seems to me that getting into Europa League was a blessing as otherwise you may had become a victim of your own success. It seems your board has not rewarded your accomplishments with enough funds. I'm sure I dont need to remind you but use those incoming funds WISELY. May I recommend buying a young star that you can develop and sell later for more money? (it will hurt to let him go, but you may have to)
I agree! Had I not made it to the Europa league I would have lost at least 3 players in January to pre contract signings. My youth academy would have had to be cleared out in order to negotiate new contracts. The FA Cup has a bigger pay than the Capital One, but the first match isn't until mid-January. This storyline would have been great too! LolComment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Incredible. That guy will be a legend at Brighton forever. I'm ten days into my next season and so far, he's already got offers from some big clubs including Barcelona AND Bayern! I'd assume he might like to go, but he'll have to request a transfer if he wants out. And whoever wants him is going to have to pay well over the £10.5 million Benfica offered!Comment

2016-17
Transfer budget: £23,500,000
Wage budget: £120,000
League objective: Win the title
Domestic cup objective: Reach the semi-finals
European cup objective: Reach the quarter-finals
Not a bad budget to work with either so you should be able to strengthen the squad and hopefully can get a UCL group that isn't too rough to allow you to get some extra funds from the group stages there.
Buckley is an absolute tank by the way, he may find his way into my FIFA 15 transfer targets shortlist that's hidden away. You should barge your way into Hodgson's office and smack him around for not selecting your talisman.Check out my Pitt Panthers Dynasty (NCAA Football 14)
