I usually ignore them and they change their mind. If they don't change their mind I offer them a pay rise and if that is rejected I usually leave them to it. Try and get a swap deal if the board get involved. That's how I handle it anyway

Congratulations on the League 2 title! Good to see my boy Gornell killing it too. Pretty surprised to see Cheltenham reach the playoff final actually. Anyway, great way to start the career. One season done, one league title. Looking forward to seeing how you prepare for League 1!

        FIFA 15 Career Mode
        Athletic Club Bilbao

Before I go into details, I want to go over a few rules that I think will make the career mode more realistlic/interesting. As you might know or not know, Athletic Bilbao is especially known for their policy of only signing Basque players. However, there is not an infinite number of Basque players in the system, so making signings would be a bit difficult and would take away the fun part of FIFA. Now, here is what I came up with:

        1. The only players that I can sign are either Spanish or French. If I do sign a player, we all pretend that he is Basque.

        2. Everybody from the youth system will only be scouted from France and Spain.

With that, I hope you will enjoy this career mode, lets get into business!

@Cruzerr I haven't had the chance to read your full update but just wanted to let you know that your youth players don't have to be only from Spain or France. The policy is only Basque players as you said, and/or any non-Basque players trained in a Basque youth academy.

Thanks! It's been a really tough go because when I was hovering around 1st-3rd in the BPL I adjusted the sliders a bit to try and make the CPU a little bit tougher while still realistic, and wow has it made a huge difference on play. The CPU has really started closing me down and taking away my time and space (which is realistic) and gotten a lot tougher to break down, so they still score a relatively similar amount but my high flying goal scoring has gotten a lot tougher so the games are very tough and fun and I have had a few losses getting mixed into the bunch now.

                Dagenham '16-17 Season
                February Update

                League Match 31
                Dagenham - Stoke City (0-1)
                Araujo 22' (P)

Recap: Ugh. Stoke came into this game in 2nd place in the league with one more game played and just one point ahead of us so this was a really important one. We couldn't come through. To make matters worse the only goal we gave up was on a PK. Stoke is pretty good though and Araujo (signed from Boca Jrs) is a PERFECT fit as the lone striker in their 4-1-4-1, he was a nightmare all game long.

                League Match 32
                Sheffield Wed - Dagenham (0-1)
                Collins 70'

Recap: more hard-fought than I expected but thankfully Collins helped us bounce back with three points.

                F.A. Cup - Round of 16
                Reading - Dagenham (2-2)
                Elito 9'
                Ibisevic 17'
                Sarr 26'
                Karacan 51'

Recap: First time in four seasons of this CM that I draw in a FA cup game. Reading always plays me tough and this time it was no different. I thought our boys outplayed the hosts but in the end the scoreboard is all that matters so a replay was scheduled for later this month.

                League Match 33
                Dagenham - Peterborough (2-1)
                Monzon 6'
                Wilkinson 34'

                Swanson 80'

Recap: Another game against lower competition where we sweated more than we should have. Well, that Swanson goal with 10 minutes left certainly made the game more interesting than we would had liked.

                F.A. Cup - Round of 16 (REPLAY)
                Dagenham - Reading (2-1)
                Nimely 10'
                Drenthe 70'
                Elito 74'

Recap: Words can't really describe how tense this game was, from the moment the ball started moving to Nimely's helpful early goal to Drenthe's dramatic equalizer to Elito's stunning go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal, this game was full of emotion from beginning to end and we have now advanced to the Quarter Finals of the F.A. Cup for the first time in this CM. This is probably the furthest we have advanced in cup competition. Our reward? LIVERPOOL.

                FL Championship Standings
                1. QPR - 79pts
                2. Stoke City - 69pts (34 GP)
                3. Dagenham - 65pts
                4. Hull City - 62pts (34 GP)
                5. Crystal Palace - 62pts
                6. Reading - 61pts

                ...
                22. Burnley - 27pts
                23. Doncaster - 18pts
                24. Bournemouth - 14pts

Sadly we lost for the first time since late October but we're still very much in position to obtain direct promotion to the BPL we just can't let down at this point. March is going to be a challenging month as we'll have to play Leeds United with just one day of rest after the last Reading game then Watford 2 days later (another 1-day rest game) which means our B team will have to face Leeds. Then we get 2 days of rest before facing QPR, 3 days off before playing Liverpool, and 2 days off before facing Blackpool. Oh yeah, this month will test us for sure. Birmingham City will be our last game in March after several days of rest due to International games. The other F.A. Cup quarter finals match-ups are Chelsea-Newcastle, Aston Villa-Stoke City, and Arsenal-Nott'm Forest.

On the academy front we continue to track player development with no scouts out on search. Here is our youth squad:
                • Memnos Zindilis (RW, 55-59 OVR, 80-86 POT): 17-year old from Greece who brings speed to the table. While we still trying to determine whether he's a better fit as a wing midfielder or as a striker in our 4-4-2 diamond wide, we're also aware that his age will force him up to the senior squad sooner than we would like. Still, we're hopeful that he'll stay in the academy until the end of the season.
                • Raffaele Molinaro (CM, 59-63, 79-85): 16-year old from Italy described as technically gifted. If promoted right now he wouldn't be more than a role player but he could be a solid contributor next season if he stays in the academy this season.
                • Jorge Gavilan (LB, 35-39, 74-82): 16-year old from Argentina who has settled at LB as we had hoped since we don't have a true replacement for Ilesanmi at this time.
                • Jomar Sadami (RW, 58-62, 75-81): 16-year old from Ghana is starting to settle into his development. He projects as a wing midfielder in our scheme.
                • Orester Senteildis (LW, 46-48, 73-79): 16-year old from Greece who isn't as advanced in his skill set as our other Greek prospect. He's still being evaluated.
                • David Antonio (CM, 54-58, 73-79): 16-year old from England who doesn't project as much more than a role player for us down the line.
                • Brian Donaldson (CAM, 53-57, 73-79): 16-year old from England who is attack minded and could be utilized as a striker. Best suited to stay in the academy for now.
                • Magnus Gerndt (RW, 45-47, 72-78): 15-year old prospect from Sweden now settled at a position. Youngest player in the academy.
                • Francisco Anibal (LM, 58-62, 72-76): 17-year old from Portugal who has spent a good amount of time in our academy and will be promoted after this season.
                • Enric Tinlea (CM, 51-55, 71-75): 16-year old from Romania described as a playmaker even though he projects more as a bench player for us.

                * Denotes recent addition to the academy.

I also said I'd start including my roster in each update so as promised:

                Spoiler

Other than that this month Paez had some work to do in World Cup qualifiers ...

2018 World Cup - CONMEBOL QUALIFIERS

                Brasil - Venezuela (5-1)
                Lucas 11'
                Marquinhos 19'
                Coutinho 45'
                Pato 63'
                M. Rondon 66'
                Lucas 90'

Recap: Understanding that a draw would be a victory for us in this game we came out on a 5-3-2 to really focus on defense. It didn't matter. Lucas opened up the scoring early with a ridiculous volley from outside then Marquinhos headed a corner kick towards the goal which was initially stopped by the goalie and bounced back to the Brazilian CB for the 2-0. Coutinho's shot towards the end of the first half was blocked by a defender, bounced up in the air, and landed right back in front of the Brazilian who put it away for the 3-0. Pato came in as a sub in the second half and probably had the most legit goal for Brazil and right after we finally broke through on a header by Mario Rondon. But Lucas made sure to embarrass us with another ridiculous shot from outside the box near the end of the game to hand us our worst defeat in this qualifying tournaments, shades of the beatdowns Brazil used to give Venezuela in the early 90's.

                Peru-Venezuela (0-0)

Recap: probably a more frustrating result than the 5-1 loss to Brazil. We were the better team against Peru but we were unable to show that on the scoreboard and Peru actually had the best shot at scoring on a PK late in the second half which bounced off a post. Huge missed opportunity here. We need all the points that we can get right now because ...

                CONMEBOL WC Qualifiers Standings
                1. Uruguay - 26pts
                2. Brazil - 21pts
                3. Colombia - 20pts
                4. Argentina - 19pts
                5. Venezuela - 18pts

                6. Chile - 17pts
                7. Ecuador - 16pts
                8. Peru - 12pts
                9. Paraguay - 9pts
                10. Bolivia - 8pts

It's getting too crowded in spots 2-7 and only the top 4 qualify for the world cup while the 5th team would have to play a 2-leg playoff against a team from Asia. A solid win in Peru could have us in 3rd place instead of 5th. It's going to be a tough challenge to stay in the Top 5 and we'll be very disappointed if we don't make that happen. Games against Uruguay and Chile in March will be huge. HUGE.

                So wish me luck!

                  SEPTEMBER 2014

Having finished August in 6th place and alive in both cup competitions, it is now time to move on from the wheeling and dealing of the transfer window and time to concentrate on achieving the high finish that the board is after. I'd also like to keep the cup runs alive, though facing Liverpool in the Capital One will be a difficult task.
As before, I'll be simming away fixtures in the league.

YOUTH ACADEMY - Joe Wotton ENG 1* 1*

Didn't start the month well but managed to bounce back in the last couple of games to hold on to 6th place. Mooney played the game of his life against Liverpool but unfortunately it all fell apart in the final third and as a result, York City are out of the Capital One Cup.
The lack of goals by my strikers are beginning to be a concern. Hirst is getting really good opportunities but just isn't putting them away. Thankfully, Carson and Coulson keep chipping in from the wing to get us enough points. That's September done with, now on to October...

Sorry to hear about your granddad Simppu.

I myself lost my mum's dad to blood cancer in 2006. The loss broke me. He helped foster my love of literature and writing, and I never got to say goodbye as I was finishing up school in the US while he was dying in India. My widowed grandmother now has a mild form of Parkinson's and early stages of Alzheimer's, plus a host of other medical conditions that make it tough for her to do anything that requires exertion.

I fell out with my dad's parents when I got married. They disrespected my folks and tried to exert undue influence on the ceremony, plus their initial bigoted reaction to the fact that I was marrying a Catholic put me off. Since then, there's been no apology, and even though I've extended several olive branches in order to make peace, they've never accepted any of them. I'm completely detached now and couldn't care less whether they live or die, though I remain cordial for my old man's sake.

Good thing you were able to find a good balance of play. The game play did look really good on your clips. Bony always complicated things for me. I faced him about four times in the champions league (he's with Weder Bremen) and it never got any easier.

For League 1 bosman signings were really helpful because the money is tight. I don't know how the budget for Wycombe will be, but in my career I didn't get a good budget until the championship and that was only because I was getting prize money from the Europa League. Let me know if you sign Gornell!

One thing I've done in previous FIFA's, set your starting XI as weak as possible and the boards expectations will be lowered as they judge based on your first XI

                              Match 15

                              Liverpool 1-0 Aston Villa
                              Balotelli 90
Throughout this match we were dominated by Aston Villa, some bad finishing and lucky breaks keeping us level. Modric and Sterling both played badly, 2 of the most important players for our creative aspects but Senderos bossed the defence making many tackles and interceptions. Joe Hart was able to save a Benteke penalty before Delph put a sitter wide from 6 yards out from an open goal. Weimann hit the post after escaping the defence but we won it undeservedly late on, Balotelli taking a touch away from Westwood to make space and curl into the bottom corner.

                              Champions League Match 6

                              Sevilla 0-1 Liverpool
                              Origi 43
Origi got the only goal of this game, winning a header from a corner to find the bottom corner. We had come under immense pressure in this game but we managed to display an incredibly defensive game to limit Sevilla to 6 shots, all off target.

                              Match 16

                              Liverpool 3-3 Manchester City
                              Benzema 10
                              Benzema 18
                              Clyne 43
                              Balotelli 64
                              Higuain 68
                              Balotelli 79 (PEN)

An absolutely incredible match against one of the powerhouses of modern day English football. Benzema gave City the lead, smashing in after beating Laporte with a good run. He then made it 2, heading in from 12 yards from a cross that really should have been cleared. Clyne pulled one back just before half-time, running up the wing before cutting into the box and smashing into the corner with his weaker foot. Balotelli then equalised with a good finish, curling in to the bottom corner after being played in by Sterling. Higuain gave City the lead again, stabbing in after a magical run beating 3 defenders. Fortunately, Sturridge was brought down in the box and Balo converted the resulting penalty.

                              Match 17

                              Norwich 1-1 Liverpool
                              Lambert 21
                              Grabban 69

Lambert opened the scoring in this match, heading into the top corner from a corner. Unfortunately, Grabban was able to smash in off the post to give the Canaries an undeserved point.

                              Match 18

                              Southampton 0-2 Liverpool
                              Sterling 32
                              Sterling 88

Sterling opened the scoring in this match, a ball through by Balo being collected in space to round Boruc and knock in for an excellent goal. He then got his second late on in incredible fashion. He picked up the ball on the edge of the box and beat the first man with a roulette before flicking the ball over the outstretched leg of the next. He then beat another, skipping past a sliding challenge before poking into the corner past the goalkeeper for the goal of the season so far.

                              Match 19

                              Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United
                              Vidal 3
                              Sturridge 42
                              Balotelli 59

In the arguably the biggest rivalry in the UK, possibly challenged by the Old Firm, North London, Tynewear and Merseyside derbies, United took the lead early on. Sterling lost the ball to Di Maria who played an incredible long pass to Vidal who chested it down and volleyed into the top corner from the edge of the box. An absolute stunner. Sturridge ended a 5 game goal drought, prodding in from the edge of the box after using a ball roll to find space in between defenders. Balotelli then got the winner, the ball coming to him to smash into the top corner and bring us 7 points clear at the top of the league.

                              League Table

                              Transfer Watch

This edition of Transfer Watch focuses on the league leaders, Liverpool, who have made an incredible rise under manager Jamiec47. After 5 seasons out of Champions League football and 24 years without a league title, Jamie came in and guided them to winning the Premier League and Champions League. Now the team is incredible but there are still some targets. Firstly, a defensive midfielder has been targeted by Jamie as a replacement for the ageing Gerrard, despite the captains good form this season. His first choice target is Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira. The Germany international is first choice, despite being over the usual age of 27 that Jamie looks to sign, appears to be the perfect replacement. Noted for his great passing, good stamina and good defensive attributes. The second choice for Jamie is Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. The France international is known for his passing and stamina, however his tendency to move up field may not work in the system. The same goes for the final target in his position, Nemanja Matic. The Chelsea and Serbia international is critically acclaimed as the best in his role but his tendency to attack is the only problem.
