Capital One Cup - Final
Tottenham - AFC Wimbledon
Wimbledon plan to take home their second consecutive Capital One Cup title, but it's looking a lot more complicated now with Spurs in the final as well. Both teams recently faced each other in the league and Wimbledon were just barely able to escape with a draw in the final minutes of the match. The odds were pretty close, but things went downhill for Wimbledon tonight when Jack Baldwin received a straight red card in only the 24th minute of the match. Wimbledon not only went a man down, but received a penalty as well.

INJURY NEWS
Michael Thompson suffered a minor shoulder injury during the second half against Tottenham. The young forward refused to be subbed off and finished the match, but will miss all of this week's matches until he recovers 100%.
FA Cup - Round 5 Replay
*A lack of communication between the Wigan defenders allowed Rhuadri Mannus to send a cross that would lead to Wimbledon's second goal.
Wigan Athletic 1 - 2 AFC Wimbledon

WIG: Francis 90'
The replay was only similar to the first match in the aspect that Wimbledon bombarded the Wigan goalkeeper with shots on goal, but in this match Wigan hardly fought back and instead focused on defending. Wigan's back line of 5 was doing a spectacular job, but two mistakes in four minutes were enough for Wimbledon to take advantage and score. Even after the goals Wigan still weren't able to see a light at the end of the tunnel until the 90th minute when a goal finally came from RWB Francis, who had been having a terrible match trying to mark Josh Murphy. Wigan's McManaman found himself one on one with Wimbledon's goalkeeper on several occasions, but for some reason he always hesitated to shoot and nothing came from the chances. McManaman has been a nemesis for Wimbledon as he frequently scores on the Dons. Wimbledon will now have to face Swansea City in the next round.
Stoke City 1 - 3 AFC Wimbledon

Adam Morgan has scored his first goal for Wimbledon and also his first goal in the Premier League this season, coincidentally against his former club. This was a match completely dominated by Wimbledon, who's defenders were always at the midfield line reminding us of when Chavez played with 3 at the back. Wimbledon's stand out player was Adam Morgan, who started alongside Luke James due to Thompson's injury. The English striker terrorized the Stoke defenders and even scored a goal, making the Stoke fans question not only why this player was sold, but also why he wasn't used by the manager when he was a part of the squad.
AFC Wimbledon 2 - 1 Aston Villa

As many of you will recall, Aston Villa took a huge beating from AFC Wimbledon earlier in the season losing 8-1 in their own stadium. Another performance like that was firmly prohibited by the Aston Villa manager and they defended much better tonight, although they faced the B team this time. Villa were actually very close to equalizing the match when at minute 84' Villa's Robinson found himself in front of an open net but his shot went over the crossbar. Missing the shot was a lot harder than putting it into the net but somehow Robinson missed it.
FA Cup - Quarter Final
Swansea City 0 - 1 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Eaves 16'
The Wimbledon B team entered Wales and came out victorious as they continue towards their second consecutive FA Cup title. Swansea defended really well but their strikers weren't able to put in their part. Swansea tried playing through balls over the Wimbledon defense constantly, knowing that the Wimbledon B centre backs are very slow, but they are also very tall and they were able to clear every aerial ball with no concerns. It looked like Swansea would be able to equalize the match but they ran out of time and have been eliminated from the FA Cup.
INJURY NEWS
Max Clayton suffered a sprained ankle during the match against Swansea and will be out for approximately 3 weeks. The speedster is a starter with the B team, but he is also really important for the first team as he is used as an impact sub. Chavez will definitely miss having him as an option as they prepare to face FC Porto in the Champions League.
Champions League - Round of 16
AFC Wimbledon - FC Porto
It was time for Wimbledon to face their ghosts. The Dons have faced Porto three times and they have been unable to defeat them. The current record is for Wimbledon is 0-2-1. The aggregate scoreline is in Porto's favor 3-2, but Wimbledon have two away goals and will play in front of their home fans at Kingsmeadow, a stadium that has proven to be complicated for many big teams.

The Wimbledon B team weren't able to extend the team's winning ways in the league and were barely able to get a draw at Newcastle. The Toon went ahead first after the referee called a penalty against Wimbledon due to a slide tackle by Craig May even though May touched the ball before the player. Fortunately Adam Morgan, covering for Max Clayton, was able to score soon after and tie the match. The two times these teams have faced each other this season have ended in a draw.
Champions League - Quarter Final 1st Leg

Wimbledon have had no problems against Arsenal in the Premier League, but Arsenal showed that they mean business in Europe and they proved tough to beat. No surprise to anyone when Ozil came on in the second half and scored, since he's one of the players that always scores on Wimbledon. All of the English teams in the competition still have a chance to progress into the Semis, with Wimbledon and Arsenal drawing with each other, Manchester City defeating Real Madrid, and Chelsea defeating Napoli.

Tottenham Get Rematch
Tottenham lost the Capital One Cup Final against AFC Wimbledon earlier this month, but the Spurs will have their rematch next month as they will face Wimbledon in the FA Cup semifinal. The Dons took the Capital One Cup away from them, but they have the opportunity of taking the FA Cup away from the Dons.
The Race For The Golden Boot Is On
For the majority of this season Wimbledon's Luke James has been at the top of the scoring chart, but this month Everton's Vietto has appeared out of nowhere and risen to the top as well. Only one goal separates the two players with Vietto having a distinct advantage since Wimbledon have Champions League matches where James is a sure starter, meaning Vietto will have more league matches than James. Luke James wants the golden boot to stay at Wimbledon for the third season in the row, while the Argentinian wants to win the golden boot in his first Premier League season.
Wimbledon Youth Academy Reputation Grows
The AFC Wimbledon youth academy has been one that over time has become well known around the world with players that are both important to their club and country. Scotland and Northern Ireland frequently call up Wimbledon's youth players like Michael Thompson and Rhuadri Mannus for Northern Ireland, and Adam Cowie and Scott McGabe being non-negotiable starters Scotland. Mexico usually calls up Mario Ruiz and Diego Ortiz as well. Midfielder Richard Odhlambo has added himself to a special list this month, as he becomes the first Wimbledon youth player to be called up to the England National Team.
The youth academy has had it's flops as well though. English winger Kyle Shelvey spent one season at the club where he looked very promising, and then spent three seasons on loan showing no development whatsoever leading to his departure from the club. Diego Ortiz is slowly making his way to having the label as well. The Mexican winger has always looked promising and extremely talented for his age. The first season he was promoted FC Barcelona made an offer to buy him from Wimbledon and in the second season Borussia Dortmund made an offer as well. Both offers were denied by Chavez as he wanted the player to grow with Wimbledon. Ortiz has always shown remarkable talent on the ball, but he has been distracted by activities off the field that have prevented him from improving other areas of his game. The winger tends to slack off during gym sessions and thus can only play about 50 minutes per game. He is also very slow, which is bad news for a winger, not to mention inconsistent. This past transfer window he was loan listed but no offers came in for him. It is quite sad really, yesterday he was courted by Europe's best, but today he is still with the Wimbledon B team. It doesn't look like he wants to be in the first team either. He actually looks very comfortable with the B team. Although he complains about his playing time, he hasn't shown his enthusiasm on the field. The young winger has his future in his hands, he just hasn't realized it yet.
That's all for this month. I've played the first 4 matches of next month, and all I can say is that the end to the season is starting to get exciting.

Dagenham '17-18 Season
August/September Update
Welcome to a new season in this Dagenham CM, where we'll debut in the British Premier League. The challenges keep coming our way as our board continues to struggle to provide us with funds, giving us just $1.3 million in transfer budget and $15K in wage budget. At the same time they didn't set the low mark of avoiding relegation for us and instead expect us to finish mid-table as well as to advance to the Round of 32 in the local cup. Our team goal is to finish ahead of the board's expectations and really qualify for European competition whether through the league or one of the cups.
Most of our starters and main subs return this season which when added to our limited funds results in a very uneventful summer transfer window. However, we were able to get an additional $2 million in transfer budget from the board. Here are the moves made by the club this summer:
TRANSFERS OUT: Luis Valencia (ST, 63 OVR), sold to Hibernian for $825K. Victor Meyer (CM, 65 OVR), laoned to QPR for a full season. Goncalvo Guterres (CF, 54 OVR), loaned to Shelbourne FC for a full season. Sang Min Lee (LW, 54 OVR), loaned to Bohemian FC for a full season. Dario Verdejo (CM, 59 OVR), loaned to Port Vale FC for a full season. Raffele Molinarp (CM, 63 OVR), loaned to Doncaster for a full season. Kagetoki Miyoshi (LB, 66 OVR), loaned to Leeds United for a full season. Xabi Lopez (CDM, 60 OVR), loaned to Exeter City for a full season. Wolfgang Schober (GK, 73 OVR), sold as part of another transaction. Gavin Hoyte (RB, 62 OVR), sold as part of another transaction.
TRANSFERS IN: Axel Ngando (CAM, 70 OVR), purchased from Stade Rennais for $1.3 million + Schober. Mode (RB, 66 OVR), purchased from Sevilla FC for $700K + Hoyte.
Although Valencia proved to us last season that he was a great asset off the bench for us Hibernian offering twice his value was too good for a money-starved team like us to pass. Ramiro Caseres coming in on pre-contract allowed us to get rid of one of our backup strikers so the deal just made sense. Nicola Leali, another pre-contract arrival, took starting GK duties from Schober and made him expendable so that explains that. Other than just really happy to get a lot of youngster opportunities elsewhere this season, especially guys like Miyoshi and Verdejo. The latter is a Peruvian that requested to be promoted way too soon 2 1/2 season ago and came in at just 47 OVR but thanks to a couple of years on loan he has developed well and if he's able to repeat that once again he should form part of the B team next season. He has a 5-star weak foot and 4-star skill moves.
The new guys? Ngando gets a shot at taking over at CAM for us while Mode becomes an upgrade at the backup RB spot. Other than that what was really striking was the sheer number of offers that came in for Medy Elito, without exaggerating it must have been over 20. None were impressive enough to make us part with the speedster captain of our team.

Recap: start the season with an upset at Old Trafford? CHECK. The boys came ready to play and traded punch for punch with the red devils and although the scoring only happened in a 5-minute span the action was fierce during 90+ minutes. No better way to raise our confidence than to get a result like this.

Recap: The Reds avenged their loss to the Daggers in quarter finals of the F.A. Cup last season by ruining our home opener. They did it with a solid defensive performance that made us work extra for every shot we took and by making the most out of their opportunities on offense. I think overall a good result for us, to remind us that we're in a very tough league.

Recap: The Daggers silenced the crowd at St. James early on and put on a defensive clinic thereafter to grab another 3 points. Elito just really continues to be on a tear, creating havoc on the right wing and defending better than ever.

Recap: I'm not even going to continue to say it but you know he's on fire. Elito even forced the defense to commit a foul in the box a few minutes before the end of the game. Good start in this cup for us. Unfortunately bad news followed this game as James Collins suffered a torn hamstring in practice that will keep him sidelined for 2-3 months. The newcomer from Velez Sarfield, Ramiro Caseres, goes from providing depth to becoming a starter temporarily.

Recap: A game more exciting than it should had been as we out-shot our opponents 17-2, with 11 of our shots on goal. Caseres had a very good first game as our starter and not just because of his goal. He just moved around well and was a constant threat for us.

Recap: Boy did fans get their moneys worth in this one, simply by looking at the Elito-Redmond matchup going on in the wings. But it was Ngando who headed a ball back into the box after it had been cleared, and the ball found Caseres to head it in for his second goal in as many games started. Monzon then passed the ball in front of him to Reyna off a free kick near midfield and the Peruvian launched it into the top right corner for the game winner. Just keep winning.

Recap: A series of breakdowns in the middle of our back four cost us a stay in the cup as the hosts avenged their loss to us by the same score earlier this month. They also played a stingy defense that kept us from having many opportunities. Kim's goal was a result of a deflection off a defender, otherwise it may had ended a 3-1. We'll focus on the league now before the F.A. Cup comes around.

Recap: a very, VERY frustrating game in which we were unable to convert in the many opportunities we had and the visitors finally broke through for not one but two goals in the ending moments of the game. We came away impressed with Bryan Ruiz, even at his 32 years of age, and may possible send a scout to look at him before winter arrives.

All in all I have to say a very good start for us in the BPL. That loss to Fulham certainly hurt. I know I'm getting quick with the trigger at CAM but Ngando hasn't flashed there for me even though he has some solid ratings for the position. He's definitely going to continue to get his minutes there but that won't keep me from looking at what Ruiz might have to offer and what his cost would be. October will bring us 5 games against Man City, Tottenham, Nott'm Forest, Wigan, and Sunderland. Can't wait.
We have also been very active with our youth academy where our scouts completed 3-month trips to Venezuela, Mexico, and Croatia and have most recently been sent to Colombia, Ireland, and Morocco to search for more talent. Naturally there have been some additions, so here's our youth squad:
- Cristian Alonson (CM, 51-63 OVR, 82-94 POT)*: 16-year old from Venezuela described as a playmaker. He possesses a lot of talent in spite of his small stature of 5'5". He could be a contributor as soon as next season.
- Davor Alanovic (DEF/MID, 50-62, 77-94)*: The 15-year old from Croatia has outstanding potential but even before we realized that we were struck but his mammoth stature of 6'7" and 176lbs at such a young age. He's all but a lock to be a CB and we'll work really hard to develop him into an excellent defender.
- Mario Diaz (RW/LW, 55-61, 75-83)*: 16-year old from Mexico with a lot of confidence. Our scouts are trying to convince him that he's better off staying in the academy for a year even though he feels he's a better talent at the moment than some of the names on the roster. We don't disagree, but he would have a tough time cracking the B-team right now. We're excited about him though.
- Magnus Gerndt (RW, 51-55, 72-78): 16-year old from Sweeden who projects as no more than a role player.
- Cesar Miguel (CDM, 40-48, 68-80)*: 15-year old from Venezuela who needs a good amount of development. Could be a solid role player for us in the future.
- Enric Tinlea (CM, 54-58, 71-75): 17-year old from Romania who isn't likely to spend all season in the academy due to his age, but we'll hope that he does.
- Pablo Escobar (CAM, 43-47, 71-79): 16-year old from Venezuela who needs to remain in the academy for at least a full season. We were sort of disappointed that he didn't work out as a striker since he has nice size (6'2").
** Jorge Gavilan (LB, 61 OVR) requested to be promoted from the academy and was signed to a lengthy contract. He's immediately one of the fastest players on the team behind only Elito and Reyna and puts the team in a place where they may need to chose between him and Jack Connors going forward. He has yet to debut with the club.

Recap: This was the tough game we thought it would be an our inability to score made us pay against a Colombian team that bombarded our goal until they broke through. We're still ahead of them in the standings but they're closing ground.

Recap: Unbelievable luck for the visitors after more than 20 shots, 15 on goal from us but at the end nothing to show for. Missed opportunity? We hope not.

I was bummed to see the board gave you a worthless budget, even with the 2m they added later on, but man what a start to the season! First game in the Premier League and already upsetting a big club like United. The loss against Liverpool is understandable. Same for Fulham. They always give me a tough time. Matches like the one you had against Villa are the ones I hate. You were able to win it, but still the only two shots the opposition had resulted in goals come on! Matches like that make me question the game. Next month looks complicated with City and Tottenham, but other than that I think you'll continue the great form. Glad to have you in the Premier League brother!Comment

Because I couldn't find a way to get the original default squads back I've decided that I'm going to do a career mode with my beloved Perth Glory. The reasoning behind it is because they were looking for a new manager before sticking with Kenny Lowe (manager in real life was fill in at the end of last season), The start of the career mode starts on September 1st 2014 so it misses the transfer window and I can make a great story from it (I know the CEO's son in real life).
The Career Mode will have restrictions to keep it kind of realistic
The A-league has a salary cap so the transfer fund given to me is throughout the league. So that means I can't ask for money from the board*. Salary cap is 2,000,000 pounds (not sure about the wages cap at the moment) the transfer fee salary cap grows by 500k each season. And what the team gives me each season is the wage cap.
Must have 3 players under the age of 20 in the squad. (In real life squads can only have between 20 and 26 players however that won't happen due to fifa allowing more I think)
All teams are only allowed 5 international players. Glory have 4 in Andy Keogh, Sidnei Sciola, Nebojša Marinković, Youssouf Hersi so I can only sign one more international player. (If they have an Australian or New Zealand Citizenship they can be classified as a non visa foreign and not be classified under the international player quota)
However each team are allow one International Marquee and one Australian Marquee where the tranfer fee and wages can succeed the salary cap.
Note* I can ask for money only for a Marquee signing or to buy scouts
Marquee signings still are under the international player quota.
If I sell a player for more than the salary cap I am only allowed to use the amount of the salary cap money and use the rest on scouts also can only adjust the wage budget to the limit of the transfer fee salary cap. If another Aussie team comes in for my player and is giving me more than the salary cap I must adjust the transfer fee to the salary cap
My aim is to get out of Australia and move to a European team and will accept any job offer that excels my current club.
Another aim is to build the Australia national football team to become a powerhouse in Football and therefore scout and develop Aussie player. Can spend as much as I can on scouts. So if the Salary cap is 3 mil and I have 7 mil will spend at least 4 mill will be spent on the scout.
Hopefully, It's not too confusing and you understand. I will start the Career Mode on Monday. also these restrictions will only be for the A-League.

Portsmouth opened the match in the second half after Butterfield took a bad angle on defense and Dunne made him pay with a strong strike into the net. Only five minutes later a cross high into the air was coming right to the keeper but he never made a play for the ball and Hmood ran in and headed it into the net. Needing a goal to advance, Wilson saw a small gap between two defenders and attacked it pushing the ball past. One of the defenders stuck his leg out and tripped Wilson earning a penalty from the ref. Wilson buried it to advance Exeter to the final.
Exeter City 2 - Swindon Town 0
EXE - MacDonald 32', Cummins 82'
Ginnelly cut from the left side of the box towards the middle before finding MacDonald on a run up the middle. He laid the ball off and MacDonald and the keeper was able to get a hand on it but it still settled inside the net. Late in the match MacDonald took the ball away at midfield and took off on the counter drawing the keeper out and then laying it off for Cummins to fire it into the goal and put the match away.

Preston struck first when Garner volleyed a cross out of the air and into the goal. Williams initiated the attack right back at them and was brought down in the box leading to Wilson converting from the penalty spot. Ginnelly then scored on an open goal a Wilson shot was saved. Wilson then added two more goals from an almost identical spot to give himself a hat-trick for the match. Brownhill then volleyed home a goal after a deflected shot was flicked on to him. After a high scoring first half, both teams held up in the second half and the first half score ended up being the final as well.

Higdon scored a beautiful strike from outside the box on a first time hit. Wilson got out ahead of the defense and attacked the keeper before sliding it in near post. After dribbling to the middle, van Nieff slotted the ball into the path of Wilson running through a gap to the right side of the goal and he finished it to the far left post. Some great ball movement got Flynn with an unmarked look to the left of the goal and he finished it to the near post as the keeper was helpless to react.

Burgess attacked down the left wing beating his defender and sent in a cross to the box. MacDonald made a run in and rose up and headed it back to the left post to give Exeter the lead. McLean made a run down the middle of the box and had the ball played into his path and rocketed the shot past the keeper to equalize the match. Grimes lined up to take the corner and placed it into the box. It was deflected high up into the air and Wilson ran in and jumped up and headed it into the net for the winning goal in the 90th minute.

- Adam has made great use of his technical gifts to be a playmaker in the CAM role with the youth teams.
Andrew Wynne (United States) 16 years old 45-47 OVR 71-77 POR.
- Andrew has yet to find his position for the future. He plays all over the midfield and as a forward for the youth teams, it remains to be seen which he will stick with.
Carl Little (Northern Ireland) 16 years old 41-43 OVR 74-80 POT.
- Carl Little has stepped up for the youth team playing as a center back. The 16 year old hit his growth spurt that the youth doctors were expecting and now stands at 6'1" giving him a bright future in the center of the defense.
Chris Dean (United States) 17 years old 45-47 OVR 70-74 POT.
- Combined pace with creativity has made him a natural for the CAM role. He is the first American signing brought over by Tex Bumosix to the youth academy.
Josh Meenan (Northern Ireland) 15 years old 46-48 OVR 72-78 POT.
- The young boy from Northern Ireland has natural talents at keeper, but his future will be determined on how much he grows over the coming years since he is standing only 5'7" at the moment. If he hits a growth spurt as expected, his future seems bright.
Luke McClure (Northern Ireland) 16 years old 57-61 OVR 90-94 POT.
- Has the look of a natural winger on the pitch. He favors the left side, and has the potential to be one of the best to ever come through Exeter City.
Paddy McEleney (Northern Ireland) 16 years old 49-51 OVR 74-80 POT.
- Another giant in the academy to challenge for the keeper position of the future. Standing at 6'3" he isn't quite as tall as Tootle, but has plenty of the height required for his position.

James Wilson
In what is looking to become the monthly James Wilson award, his performances left little doubt as to who it was going to be once again. His 7 goals this month rocketed Exeter over Sheffield United to take the top spot of the table, and his goal in the J. Paint Trophy ensured their advancement to the final.

This was a great month and we are extremely excited to be where we are right now. There are still 2 months left though so we know there is a lot of work to be done yet. I'll open it up to questions now so we can go further in depth.
Q: It's hard to concentrate on anything else so we will lead with this. You are now at the top of the table after overtaking Sheffield United this month. Do you think you will be able to hold on to this spot down the stretch?
A: This is where we feel we belong, and we are going to fight tooth and nail to ensure that we stay here. We made sure to take care of business and we went into Sheffield and earned a draw to keep them from jumping ahead of us. With two months of matches left to play, I think we are in good enough form to be able to create even more separation.
Q: Your second leg against Portsmouth in the J. Paint Trophy ended up being closer than most expected. In the end Wilson was able to score a late goal to push you through on away goals. How big of a moment was that for the young player?
A: Oh it was huge. Wilson has been outstanding for us all season, but to score the goal to push us into the final of a cup is always special. It will definitely be one to add to the resume. We looked lost for a while out there, but in the end we were able to rely on him and he came through. I'm sure he will have more to add in the final as well.
Q: You finally got all of your players healthy again. The biggest surprise was that your form didn't seem to suffer much if at all during their absence. What would you say is the reason for your success despite the shortage of personnel?
A: These players know what we are after. They all buy into that same vision, and just because one goes down, the others wont let the team down in their absence. We are lucky enough to have several quality players that I have no hesitation putting out on the pitch. This team is well equipped for a great run in all circumstances and I couldn't be prouder of them.

Swan: Well you know I've never really liked the way he played he was, how would you say it a bit to slow for my liking. A great offer came in so I let him go.
R: Tell us about some of your signings.
S: Well I brought in Destro as the board wanted a striker. I saw something in Mikel that just sparked and realized he wasn't fulfilling his potential at Chelsea so we bought him. Gündogan, well we brought him in because he is naturally gifted, even though we had to sell our very on Jack Wilshere. And for Rues, it's simple Özil left and we needed another world class player to replace him.
R: Do you think you overpaid to get Rues
S: Maybe we did but his stats are doing the talking 8 goals in 5 appearances is pretty impressive!
R: Do you think Rosicky will come back to haunt you at Everton, a rival?
S: No, I personally feel he is to old to do any damage which is why we sold him.

Turns out I was wrong after Roaicky got on the score sheet in a massive 4-0 defeat to Everton just a week after the 3-0 win at home against Crystal Palace.

So I was wondering what difficulty and sliders you guys use in your Career Modes. I recently put the difficulty up to Legendary about a month (in game terms) or 2 ago, but I've left the sliders the same as they were on World Class. I would post them but I'm not at my PS3 at the moment. Let me know what you guys use and I'll post mine tomorrow!Comment

I'm also wondering the same as Jamie. The only way I can make sense of it is that you meant to put Wilshere in the swap deal rather than Ozil because you mentioned selling Wilshere in the next paragraph. I think that clears it up Jamie!Comment
