Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
September 2014 - Season 1
FIFA 15 (PS4)
Spoiler
CA Osasuna (B Team) 3 - 0 Albacete
OSA: Vujadinovic 48' Ansarifard 73' 87'
A dominant win for Osasuna against 21st place Albacete who have yet to accrue any points in the league. The first half was a very boring one, but the second half started off with more excitement with a goal by the defender from Montenegro Vujadinovic who headed the ball in from a corner. We wouldn't see much action after that, until the Iranian striker Ansarifard received his first opportunity to show himself on the field coming on to replace Onwu late in the second half. The young striker immediately made an impact first by scoring with his foot and then scoring with his head to make it 3-0. The striker competition is heating up!
Deportivo Alaves 2 - 1 CA Osasuna
ALA: Tejera 16' Velez 61'
OSA: Onwu 89'
Osasuna's 3 game winning streak was put to an end by mid table team Alaves, who simply dominated the Basques. Osasuna's wingers had a terrible day taking it easy on Alaves' fullbacks and hardly made any runs down the line. Osasuna's only choice was to attack down the middle, but the Alaves manager quickly figured that out and organized his defense to close down on both Guillermo and Torres. Guillermo would be taken off in the second half and replaced by Manuel Onwu who also had a tough time on the field but managed to score right before the final whistle. Once again, Onwu making good on his chance.
CA Osasuna 4 - 2 CD Tenerife
OSA: Torres PEN 37' Sisi 48' Guillermo 74' PEN 81'
CDT: Ifran 58' Davila 65'
A very close match despite the final score and a match with three penalties in the 90 minutes! The first penalty came from a questionable foul against Osasuna's Cuevas and Roberto Torres took the penalty with confidence and into the net. Right before the end of the first half the referee called a penalty now in favor of Tenerife after a foul by Osasuna's Loties. Ifran would take the penalty for Tenerife but he sent it over the crossbar! The Tenerife manager looked very frustrated seeing his team blow a vital chance to get even, but things would get even worse as only 3 minutes into the first half Sisinio would make it 2-0 for Osasuna. Osasuna would get a little too comfortable with the scoreline though, and Tenerife took advantage with Ifran redeeming himself and finishing an incredible play with several passes inside Osasuna's own box. Now Chavez is the one that looked frustrated after a shaky display by his defenders, but it wasn't over yet and 7 minutes later the Mexican and Chelsea midfielder U. Davila would also take advantage of Osasuna's shaky defense and equalize the match. Osasuna had just let a 2-0 lead slip but fortunately Guillermo came in to save the day and put Osasuna back into the lead. Guillermo was pumped up and continued to look dangerous in the attacking third, eventually receiving a hard slide tackle inside the box that the referee immediately called as a penalty. With Osasuna's penalty takers off the field already Guillermo had to take it himself, but he did not disappoint and shot it towards the bottom left corner past the goalkeeper who dove right. The match was not an easy one at all, but Osasuna took the win.
Girona CF 3 - 3 CA Osasuna (B Team)
OSA: J. Garcia 16' Luque 39' Onwu 59'
GIR: Sandaza 42' Jandro 68' Sanchon 77'
Another bad match for the Osasuna defense as they let a two goal advantage slip once again. The beginning of the match was perfect for the away fans as young Jose Garcia scored his first official goal with the Osasuna first team through a rebound of his own shot. Julian Luque would then also get his first goal with Osasuna showing incredible ball control bringing down a lob pass from Jose Garcia inside the box and then shooting the ball into the top corner of the net. A flying start for Los Rojillos but Girona was able to get one back right before the end of the first half. Chavez wasn't worried though, as Onwu made it 3-1 for Osasuna in the 59th minute and Osasuna were dominating the midfield. A defensive slip in the 68th minute allowed Girona to make it 3-2, and now Chavez was beginning to look a little tense. His team was playing great, but Girona threatened to score with each attacking play and the Osasuna defenders weren't doing enough to stop it. The inevitable goal came in the 77th minute to make the game 3-3 and Osasuna were not able to recover from it. The Reds may have gotten the win back from Tenerife but they couldn't do it two times in a row, and this time they had to pay for their mistakes.
CA Osasuna 0 - 1 Real Valladolid
VAD: Alfaro 12'
A very important game for Osasuna against the league leaders, but unfortunately they weren't up to the challenge. The match was already expected to be a heated one between the two managers since Real Valladolid came in and swooped up Ivan from Levante when Osasuna had approached the player first, but we weren't able to see Chavez's anger on the field. Valladolid got off on the right foot with an early goal from Alfaro, finding space in between Osasuna's centre backs leaving him through on goal. Osasuna tried to get back in the game but were never able to, once again failing to advance down the wings and Guillermo and Torres getting locked down in the middle. Real Valladolid remain at the top of the table but Osasuna are slowly going down on the league table.
Racing Santander 1 - 0 CA Osasuna
RAC: Miguelez 66'
Racing Santander were in the lead to sign Chavez in the preseason, but in the end Chavez chose to sign with Osasuna instead. Los Verdiblancos got back on Chavez by defeating his team with an amazing free kick by Miguelez. Osasuna dominated the game, controlling midfield with a lot of passing and plenty of shots on goal, but unfortunately they weren't able to get the ball past the Racing goalkeeper and lost by the minimum difference. Once again Osasuna's midfield did what they had to do, but with no one in the final third to finish the plays it was all in vain.

CA Osasuna Player of The Month
CAM - Roberto Torres (Spain) (25yrs 69 OVR)
Osasuna's youth graduate Roberto Torres takes this month's PoTM award following a consistent display of playmaking this month. Torres is a local hometown player who joined Osasuna's youth academy and climbed the ranks until finally getting promoted to the first team and receiving consistent first team opportunities. The #10 showed why that jersey was given to him and was a frequent danger to the opposition in the attacking third, but unfortunately his teammates weren't able to finish most of the plays he set up particularly in the last two games of the month. Torres stood by his team even after the recent relegation, and his hard work and loyalty is paying off as he has become an important player in Chavez's lineup.
Press Conference
Mr. Chavez, you finished in first last month, and this month you are just barely in a promotion playoff spot on goal difference. What would you say to the fans who have shown mixed feelings towards your arrival?
"True fans will always stick by their team, and that's what Osasuna has. True fans. I am positive we can push through this and the fans will always be there as we do. In the beginning of the season I said we would focus on getting the result before playing attractive football. I will admit we got off track and did just the opposite, playing entertaining football first and results second. The football is there. Everyone can see it we are playing great football but we are not getting the results. We are working hard to turn it around and get back to the top end of the table. My staff and I try to take the positive and grow on it, and the good thing is that we have shown we have the talent to play attractive football. We must build the team from the back to the front though. Once we solidify our defense and get the right results, we can begin to improve our attack."
September Headlines
Transfer Window Failure?
Osasuna lost several key players after last year's relegation, and many would argue that Chavez's work in the transfer window did not make up for any of it. The first signing, Marcos Alonso, has been a consistent player, but for the B team. The left back has been occupying the LWB position and hasn't had a good time adjusting to his return to Spanish football. He is the only natural LB in the team, but Cadamuro continues to start in that position with the first team since Alonso hasn't picked up his form yet. Next we have Guillermo Fernandez, who came in on a swap deal for veteran striker Nino. The Athletic Bilbao youth graduate started this season running with 4 goals in 2 matches, but this month he was only able to score 2 more goals and was often neutralized by his markers. Chavez continues to start the 21 year old over the more experienced Manuel Onwu, which hasn't sat well with some of the fans who question Chavez's work. The other two signings, Victor Camarasa and Julian Luque, are also starters with the B team, which again leads fans to question Chavez's work. Osasuna lost multiple key players after relegation such as Riera (70), Damia (72), Armenteros (72) Fernandez (75) and Arribas (78), but all Chavez has done to make up for it has been to reinforce the bench. Chavez may take pride in the fact that all four of his summer signings were Spanish players, but are they really the players Osasuna needed?
A Dream Come True
Translation: "From Feeling The Colors To Fulfilling Your Dream - Congratulations Jose!"
In more positive news, young Jose Garcia has fulfilled his dream of celebrating his very own goal with his beloved Osasuna, the club he has passionately supported since he was a child. The fans adore him, many of them sat next to him in his younger days at the stadium, and they all celebrated the goal with him once again - only this time he was the goal scorer on the field. Not everything is perfect though, and Jose Garcia had to watch his team give up a 3-1 lead after he scored the first and assisted the second. Under Chavez he has actually become a very important player for the B team, often involved in all of the attacking plays, and the other teams are beginning to take note of him as a threat on the field.
Conclusion
As you can see, this was not my best month. I got carried away after that last month with two easy wins and thought I could dominate the world, but the other teams quickly made me put my feet back on the ground. I received a message from the board saying that I should experiment with the squad a little more especially going into important matches. Don't know how much impact that actually has in the game since I've never received those kind of messages, but it certainly didn't look like a good sign. I will be experimenting with the squad and trying out different formations. (Not because the board told me to but because I want to okay! Lol) My wingers have been terrible in the 4-2-3-1 Wide, but then again it is not a formation I usually use.
Any feedback is appreciated!
In a few moments I will post my squad list.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
@ Simppu I understand about Man. U. My Man U. Team is dominating the league play and capital one cup, but in Champions Cup we are struggling and I am using my top team. The reserves are taking care of the league.
Also Simppu my best CM was Exeter a City on fifa 09 taking from league 2 to BPL and winning the treble with them. My secon place CM was a Russian league that I played on FIFA 12. Will have to check the team on a later post.Currently playing: (In order of Most Time)

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Yeah the Chelsea-Brentford game was pretty nice, amazing fans. We're hosting Millwall at home, I believe. I live in India at the moment but have a base around London i.e. a family home in Loughton. I visit around 3-4 times a year. Where do you live, and who do you support?
I live in Sweden, I could say what town but you wouldn't have a clue about where it's locatedComment

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if you would give me a few ideas for a career. Hopefully a lower league team that is on the younger side that is not in England.
Thanks if do!!Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Cruzerr, I agree that many of the places on that team are up for debate. My point was that Hummels absolutely cannot make it ahead of Godin, but I can see how it might have sounded that way re: Robben/Turan. Didn't mean for it to come off sounding so strong.
I would say Robben is a worthy player for sure but I would personally take Turan for his industry and work rate. I think playing him in central midfield could work, too. But like you said, there are better natural CMs than him or Iniesta or James who deserved a spot. Mascherano deserves a shout, so do Modric, Pogba, etc. I think this is where we have the greatest merit and versatility. I would also say that a contender for LB would be Filipe Luis, though there isn't much he did that Alaba didn't... and better.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
@Chico I'm loving the progress. It's still early days, so consider it a good foundation moving forward. You're in a decent spot despite the loss to Valladolid, and I'm confident that you will finish the season as well as you hope to. That bit about Jose Garcia was written really nicely, and the visuals are a great touch again.
@Jamie Great results. I think at this point, you look at the draw at City as two points dropped rather than one earned, which speaks a lot about how far you have brought this club. Glad to see you did Juventus at home, though I reckon you'll be upset not to have beat the Mackems in your own backyard. Pick up the win away, and you can rest easy.
I loved your Nottingham career! One of the first ones that really made me crazy about tactics, etc, since your recaps would always talk about how you were changing formations and using players and everything. El Shaarawy was a beast for you in that career. That would have to be my favorite of yours alongside the Brighton career.
Okey, might have to look at perhaps flying to london and watch that game, I support Arsenal so I try to fly over and watch a game each season. When I watched Chelsea-Brentford I went there with a friend that's a Chelsea supporter. We usually try to make a combined trip where we can watch both Arsenal and Chelsea at the same weekend so thats why Cup games such as Chelsea - Millwall are very interesting. I live in Sweden, I could say what town but you wouldn't have a clue about where it's locatedI've been before, but not anywhere outside of Stockholm/Goteborg/Uppsala. And only for a couple of days/weeks at a time. Lovely country, though! A friend of mine is a physics professor at AlbaNova centre at the Uni of Stockholm, and he absolutely adores the place.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
ypu guys know whats prett interesting? I finally decided to post in this thread because I've seen all the feedback and how you guys just all get along. It's very nice to see many careers aswell. Also I started reading this about xmas time when i got a laptop for xmas. I starte way back in page 1 haha. with my flights being delayed and spending time in the airport and hotels. also with my sleep schedule being a bit messed (610 AM im in Canada ive never slept yet) so ive been getting in some serious reading. im on 216 now haha. Also its the only time i really get to read and play FIFA at night is because i spend most of my day with my GF. however she stays on campus during the week so ill get some more serious gaming in during the week :P
Welcome to the forum! Damn you started reading from page 1 and you're on 216 now? You're a trooper man. I know where you're coming from, I usually play at night for the same reason. Just have to wait for the GF to pass out and then BAM it's a FIFA all nighter. Good luck reading up on the hundreds of pages you still have to go!
Sad to see you lose against Valladolid, beating them would have probably made the month a whole lot better instantly.
It does seem you have problems with wingers, did you play those games with 4-3-3 aswell?
I think you should replace Oier with somebody a bit better.
I loved the "A dream come true" part, very well written. You made these posts very interesting, I hope you keep this up!
That's a negative, the 4-3-3 wasn't put into effect until after the Racing Santander match so you'll see how that went in the next update. Surprisingly, Oier has been a great player on the field despite his low overall. He has high enough stamina to help out both in attack and defense, which is why I don't set any instructions for him so he can be a box to box midfielder. I have Camarasa on the bench and he's been doing great. He may jump into the starting lineup in the future, and Oier could possibly take the LB position since that's listed as his secondary position along with RB.
Thanks for the feedback I'm glad you enjoyed the read. I'll do what I can!
Man Bolivia will be a challenge! Really looking forward to seeing how it goes. Will you be focusing on scouting youth players for the national team ?
Taking the reins of AS Monaco would be good to read, even though you would be abandoning me in Spainlol being in the same league as Indi will be fun though, and you'll have the challenge of going for to for with PSG.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
A little bit rougher of a return this month than the previous month, but you seem to finally have a handle with what direction that you want to take the club and use the squad, so there's really no direction to go but up! Love the little storylines that you throw into your recaps, especially about your homegrown talent. I'm curious as to your thought as to using "B teams" which I've seen you do previously in your Wimbledon career mode, and what your strategy for doing that is compared to a more conventional strategy of just rotating various players?
Ah, very good question. I've been using B teams for a while, I can't even remember if in the past I used a traditional squad rotation to be honest. I feel that by using B teams, I can really get to know my players. I see it as a stepping stone to the first team, and it helps keep the players happy. Pretty much if a player can put in awesome performances with lesser talented players on the field, he should be ready to play with the first team. The entire squad selection is alternative, including the bench which will have the reserve players so they can have some playing time as well. The B team approach has also helped me improve my tactics and technique. Since there will most likely not be any players that can just dribble the ball past the defense and score, I have to really rely on teamwork, sometimes giving me the impression that the B team plays better than the first team. I have thought of going towards just rotating players, but I feel there would be many players in my squad that wouldn't get the opportunity to show me what they got. With a B team, I can find those "hidden gems" or just players that are great even with a low overall much easier. I'm having difficulty explaining it I hope I was able to explain it well enough lolComment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Jeu à la Nantaise: August 2015
Ligue 1: Matchday 1
W 0-3
19' Gakpe, 41' 82' Marzouk
We went into this game thinking we'd need to work our socks off to get a result, but Marseille barely tried to stop us. Steve Mandanda's move to Barcelona took the wheels off their title challenge last year, and losing Nicolas N'koulou to Inter this summer hit them even harder. Gakpe was on fire for us, scoring the first and setting up the new lad Marzouk for a debut brace. Their only real chance was a speculative shot from the edge of the box. It curved and dipped towards goal, but Riou managed to punch wide.
Ligue 1: Matchday 2
W 2-1
56' Veretout, 88' Marzouk
25' Salli
Monaco had the upper hand for much of the first half, which was highlighted by a real peach of a goal. Jeremy Toulalan faked a shot before passing to Edgar Salli, who only needed one touch before firing low and hard past our keeper. I made a tactical change at halftime, bringing on Manyisa for Camara. We got our first goal from a corner as Jordan Veretout tapped in the parry after Sidibe's header was saved, before Marzouk bagged the winner with minutes to go, finding Danilo Cataldi's perfectly weighted pass for a first-time shot of some power. This has definitely been one of our tougher wins.
Europa League: Play-off round, leg 1
D 2-2
33' Gakpe, 79' Sidibe
41' Sylla, 63' Jørgensen
Despite the feverish joy that surrounds your first European match, I warned my boys not to take Zulte-Waregem lightly, because they have the quality to make us pay for any sort of mistake. They seemed to pay attention for the first 30 minutes, but after Gakpe scored the opener, I felt a bit of laxity. My warning wasn't for no reason, and Idrissa Sylla drove through and equalised for them not too long after. We weren't much better during the second half, when we left Jesper Jørgensen unmarked, allowing him to give Waregem the lead. There was a bit of luck involved towards the end. Sidibe's goal came as his low cross took a deflection off their keeper's foot. After conceding two away goals, we'll need to be a lot sharper in the second leg if we want to qualify.
Ligue 1: Matchday 3
D 1-1
83' Sanson
40' Gakpe
There are few things I hate more than drawing/losing consecutive games, and one of them is throwing away a win at the end of a match. I can't be too mad at my players, because their keeper was in fantastic form today, but we should have got at least one more goal. There's no doubt in my mind that Gakpe's goal was a fair penalty, but we could have been tighter at the back to stop them from equalising, even if they fouled two of our players during the build-up to the goal. I'm not a fan of putting the blame on the referees, even if they deserve it. If you do enough to win, you won't find that you are in a situtation where things like these can impact or influence the result.
Europa League: Play-off round, leg 2
W 1-2
61' Sylla
23' Coman, 34' Cataldi
I decided to give Marzouk a rest for two reasons. First of all, I don't want him to face such a high-pressure situation so soon. Second, I needed someone with pace that can cause problems, which is why I gave Coman the nod. The lad did very well to score the first goal after Gakpe put it on a plate for him, but Cataldi's goal has to be one of the best I have seen from him. He beat two men before curling the ball past their keeper, and we knew then that the win was ours. Idrissa Sylla managed to pull one back, but we saw the final 30 minutes out without too much trouble. I'll need to have my scouts look at this Sylla lad. He seems like a player who'd do well with bigger opportunities.
Group D
Bayer 04
Dundee Utd
Nantes
PAOK
We've been drawn into a very good European group. Bayer are one of Europe's finer teams, and have dangerous players such as Hakan Calhanoglu and Lars Bender. We will need to be alert and sharp to have a chance of a result against them, especially in the away match. Dundee is a team we know little about, though if they were good enough to get to this point, we need to give them the respect they deserve. If we take them lightly like we did Zulte-Waregem, we could have a major problem. PAOK is a Greek team, so we can expect a bit of physicality from there. Again, we don't know too much about them, so we'll need to send our scouts to look at a few of their players to get an idea of what we're up against. I fancy us to qualify for the knockout stages.
Ligue 1: Matchday 4
W 2-1
10' Djilobodji, 33' Cataldi
18' Hamill
As much as I'd like to say that I'm happy with this win, that's not the case. The result might be what we wanted, but it's certainly not so with the performance. Djilobodji's header was a powerful one, but it took a huge deflection on the way in. Cataldi was lucky to have his shot go in after their keeper got a hand to it, so both our goals were down to luck, while we conceded because of a lapse in focus and concentration. We were fortunate to come away with three points, because there was no indication that we were much better than Ajaccio. There has to be significant improvement on this.
Serge Gakpe
Sprained ankle, 3-4 weeks
This one is a bittersweet injury. Of course, we're never happy to lose a player to the treatment table, especially not our best forward. However, the injury comes at a time when we have the next two weeks off due to the internation break. This means Serge will only miss the match against Lille, and should be fit to feature in our first Europa League group stage match at Dundee, though probably from the bench as a late sub.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Great start to the season! Always good to hit the ground running with a big win especially against a team like marseille. That Europa League qualifiers was tight but I knew you'd make it through. I don't know anything about your opponent, but they made you fight for it! Now the group stage: Leverkusen will be your biggest threat without a doubt. Dundee has a strong attack but a weak defense. I know Mackay-Steven and Armstrong from when I managed Scotland on 14 and they are both talented CAMs with good potential. Dundee also has Çiftçi, who has been a beast for Tex and was previously a nuisance for me, also from my Scotland days. I don't know much about PAOK so not much to say there. Looking forward to seeing your Europa League run!Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Hey Tex, right now that I mentioned Çiftçi, I remembered that I actually confused Greece with Turkey, and Mitroglou with Çiftçi. Çiftçi was still a pain for me I was right about that, but I initially said it was with Greece when he actually played for Turkey. What I said earlier is still true, as in TURKEY was a tough opponent for me and Çiftçi was one of the main reasons why,. I just had the names mixed up lolComment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
@Indiblue: I am really enjoying your Nantes career mode I have to say! The europa league group seems interesting, Bayer Leverkusen ofc being the group favourite but after them I would say that you have the strongest team, Dundee has some cool and talented players though and well I do not really know anything about PAOK except that they are from Greece.
Will be very fun to see how your team copes with having both european competion and the leagueComment
