Just a little, I mean you are out with Falcao for the first season but you have Martial, who is arguably the best young striker in the game. I would still go RM.

A little bit rougher of a return this month than the previous month, but you seem to finally have a handle with what direction that you want to take the club and use the squad, so there's really no direction to go but up! Love the little storylines that you throw into your recaps, especially about your homegrown talent. I'm curious as to your thought as to using "B teams" which I've seen you do previously in your Wimbledon career mode, and what your strategy for doing that is compared to a more conventional strategy of just rotating various players?

West Ham United - Episode #32: We Start on Home Ground

In this episode, we bring in our fourth signing of the transfer window, and start the domestic campaign off with a home Premier League fixture against Newcastle.

@ Simppu I understand about Man. U. My Man U. Team is dominating the league play and capital one cup, but in Champions Cup we are struggling and I am using my top team. The reserves are taking care of the league.

Also Simppu my best CM was Exeter a City on fifa 09 taking from league 2 to BPL and winning the treble with them. My secon place CM was a Russian league that I played on FIFA 12. Will have to check the team on a later post.

Okey, might have to look at perhaps flying to london and watch that game, I support Arsenal so I try to fly over and watch a game each season. Hey everyone, I was just wondering if you would give me a few ideas for a career. Hopefully a lower league team that is on the younger side that is not in England.

Cruzerr, I agree that many of the places on that team are up for debate. My point was that Hummels absolutely cannot make it ahead of Godin, but I can see how it might have sounded that way re: Robben/Turan. Didn't mean for it to come off sounding so strong.

I would say Robben is a worthy player for sure but I would personally take Turan for his industry and work rate. I think playing him in central midfield could work, too. But like you said, there are better natural CMs than him or Iniesta or James who deserved a spot. Mascherano deserves a shout, so do Modric, Pogba, etc. I think this is where we have the greatest merit and versatility. I would also say that a contender for LB would be Filipe Luis, though there isn't much he did that Alaba didn't... and better.

@Chico I'm loving the progress. It's still early days, so consider it a good foundation moving forward. You're in a decent spot despite the loss to Valladolid, and I'm confident that you will finish the season as well as you hope to. That bit about Jose Garcia was written really nicely, and the visuals are a great touch again.

@Jamie Great results. I think at this point, you look at the draw at City as two points dropped rather than one earned, which speaks a lot about how far you have brought this club. Glad to see you did Juventus at home, though I reckon you'll be upset not to have beat the Mackems in your own backyard. Pick up the win away, and you can rest easy.

El Shaarawy was a beast for you in that career. That would have to be my favorite of yours alongside the Brighton career.
Yeah, I rememeber our discussions about the 4-3-2-1 and using the run settings to pull one forward wide. You had Lacazette ripping up the league for you at that point, with Grenier and Schar backing him up in midfield and defence. That was a smashing team. Good to see you begin to put something similar together on this career!

You could try Ingolstadt (2. Bundesliga), Avellino (Serie B), Lens (Ligue 1 but just promoted), or Mallorca (Liga Adelante). All good shouts IMO.

Talar du Engelska? That's about the extent of my Swedish! I've been before, but not anywhere outside of Stockholm/Goteborg/Uppsala. And only for a couple of days/weeks at a time. I starte way back in page 1 haha. with my flights being delayed and spending time in the airport and hotels. also with my sleep schedule being a bit messed (610 AM im in Canada ive never slept yet) so ive been getting in some serious reading. im on 216 now haha. Also its the only time i really get to read and play FIFA at night is because i spend most of my day with my GF. however she stays on campus during the week so ill get some more serious gaming in during the week :P

Welcome to the forum! Damn you started reading from page 1 and you're on 216 now? You're a trooper man. I know where you're coming from, I usually play at night for the same reason. Just have to wait for the GF to pass out and then BAM it's a FIFA all nighter. Good luck reading up on the hundreds of pages you still have to go!

It does seem you have problems with wingers, did you play those games with 4-3-3 aswell?

I think you should replace Oier with somebody a bit better.

I loved the "A dream come true" part, very well written. You made these posts very interesting, I hope you keep this up!

That's a negative, the 4-3-3 wasn't put into effect until after the Racing Santander match so you'll see how that went in the next update. Surprisingly, Oier has been a great player on the field despite his low overall. He has high enough stamina to help out both in attack and defense, which is why I don't set any instructions for him so he can be a box to box midfielder. I have Camarasa on the bench and he's been doing great. He may jump into the starting lineup in the future, and Oier could possibly take the LB position since that's listed as his secondary position along with RB.

Thanks for the feedback I'm glad you enjoyed the read. I'll do what I can!

Taking the reins of AS Monaco would be good to read, even though you would be abandoning me in Spain lol being in the same league as Indi will be fun though, and you'll have the challenge of going for to for with PSG.

Ah, very good question. I've been using B teams for a while, I can't even remember if in the past I used a traditional squad rotation to be honest. I feel that by using B teams, I can really get to know my players. I see it as a stepping stone to the first team, and it helps keep the players happy. Pretty much if a player can put in awesome performances with lesser talented players on the field, he should be ready to play with the first team. The entire squad selection is alternative, including the bench which will have the reserve players so they can have some playing time as well. The B team approach has also helped me improve my tactics and technique. Since there will most likely not be any players that can just dribble the ball past the defense and score, I have to really rely on teamwork, sometimes giving me the impression that the B team plays better than the first team. I have thought of going towards just rotating players, but I feel there would be many players in my squad that wouldn't get the opportunity to show me what they got. With a B team, I can find those "hidden gems" or just players that are great even with a low overall much easier. I'm having difficulty explaining it I hope I was able to explain it well enough lol

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Jeu à la Nantaise: August 2015

                        Ligue 1: Matchday 1

                        W 0-3
                        19' Gakpe, 41' 82' Marzouk

We went into this game thinking we'd need to work our socks off to get a result, but Marseille barely tried to stop us. Steve Mandanda's move to Barcelona took the wheels off their title challenge last year, and losing Nicolas N'koulou to Inter this summer hit them even harder. Gakpe was on fire for us, scoring the first and setting up the new lad Marzouk for a debut brace. Their only real chance was a speculative shot from the edge of the box. It curved and dipped towards goal, but Riou managed to punch wide.

                        Ligue 1: Matchday 2

                        W 2-1

                        56' Veretout, 88' Marzouk

                        25' Salli

Monaco had the upper hand for much of the first half, which was highlighted by a real peach of a goal. Jeremy Toulalan faked a shot before passing to Edgar Salli, who only needed one touch before firing low and hard past our keeper. I made a tactical change at halftime, bringing on Manyisa for Camara. We got our first goal from a corner as Jordan Veretout tapped in the parry after Sidibe's header was saved, before Marzouk bagged the winner with minutes to go, finding Danilo Cataldi's perfectly weighted pass for a first-time shot of some power. This has definitely been one of our tougher wins.

Europa League: Play-off round, leg 1

                        D 2-2
                        33' Gakpe,
                        79' Sidibe
                        41' Sylla, 63' Jørgensen

Despite the feverish joy that surrounds your first European match, I warned my boys not to take Zulte-Waregem lightly, because they have the quality to make us pay for any sort of mistake. They seemed to pay attention for the first 30 minutes, but after Gakpe scored the opener, I felt a bit of laxity. My warning wasn't for no reason, and Idrissa Sylla drove through and equalised for them not too long after. We weren't much better during the second half, when we left Jesper Jørgensen unmarked, allowing him to give Waregem the lead. There was a bit of luck involved towards the end. Sidibe's goal came as his low cross took a deflection off their keeper's foot. After conceding two away goals, we'll need to be a lot sharper in the second leg if we want to qualify.

                        Ligue 1: Matchday 3

                        D 1-1
                        83' Sanson
                        40' Gakpe

There are few things I hate more than drawing/losing consecutive games, and one of them is throwing away a win at the end of a match. I can't be too mad at my players, because their keeper was in fantastic form today, but we should have got at least one more goal. There's no doubt in my mind that Gakpe's goal was a fair penalty, but we could have been tighter at the back to stop them from equalising, even if they fouled two of our players during the build-up to the goal. I'm not a fan of putting the blame on the referees, even if they deserve it. If you do enough to win, you won't find that you are in a situtation where things like these can impact or influence the result.

Europa League: Play-off round, leg 2

                        W 1-2

                        61' Sylla
                        23' Coman, 34' Cataldi

I decided to give Marzouk a rest for two reasons. First of all, I don't want him to face such a high-pressure situation so soon. Second, I needed someone with pace that can cause problems, which is why I gave Coman the nod. The lad did very well to score the first goal after Gakpe put it on a plate for him, but Cataldi's goal has to be one of the best I have seen from him. He beat two men before curling the ball past their keeper, and we knew then that the win was ours. Idrissa Sylla managed to pull one back, but we saw the final 30 minutes out without too much trouble. I'll need to have my scouts look at this Sylla lad. He seems like a player who'd do well with bigger opportunities.

                        Group D

                        Bayer 04
                        Dundee Utd
                        Nantes
                        PAOK

We've been drawn into a very good European group. Bayer are one of Europe's finer teams, and have dangerous players such as Hakan Calhanoglu and Lars Bender. We will need to be alert and sharp to have a chance of a result against them, especially in the away match. Dundee is a team we know little about, though if they were good enough to get to this point, we need to give them the respect they deserve. If we take them lightly like we did Zulte-Waregem, we could have a major problem. PAOK is a Greek team, so we can expect a bit of physicality from there. Again, we don't know too much about them, so we'll need to send our scouts to look at a few of their players to get an idea of what we're up against. I fancy us to qualify for the knockout stages.

                        Ligue 1: Matchday 4

                        W 2-1
                        10' Djilobodji, 33' Cataldi
                        18' Hamill

As much as I'd like to say that I'm happy with this win, that's not the case. The result might be what we wanted, but it's certainly not so with the performance.
Djilobodji's header was a powerful one, but it took a huge deflection on the way in. Cataldi was lucky to have his shot go in after their keeper got a hand to it, so both our goals were down to luck, while we conceded because of a lapse in focus and concentration. We were fortunate to come away with three points, because there was no indication that we were much better than Ajaccio. There has to be significant improvement on this.

                        Serge Gakpe
                        Sprained ankle, 3-4 weeks

This one is a bittersweet injury. Of course, we're never happy to lose a player to the treatment table, especially not our best forward. However, the injury comes at a time when we have the next two weeks off due to the internation break. This means Serge will only miss the match against Lille, and should be fit to feature in our first Europa League group stage match at Dundee, though probably from the bench as a late sub.

Thanks Indi, means a lot. Garcia is only rated 59 but the kid has talent! Since he was one of the reasons I chose to make an Osasuna career, I knew I had to celebrate his first senior goal somehow. I'm glad that you guys liked his section in the update. This month was a tough one especially finishing with two defeats in a row, but I'm confident I can turn it around now that I have reanalyzed the squad. The league is a little harder than I thought it would be.

Great start to the season! Always good to hit the ground running with a big win especially against a team like marseille. That Europa League qualifiers was tight but I knew you'd make it through. I don't know anything about your opponent, but they made you fight for it! Now the group stage: Leverkusen will be your biggest threat without a doubt. Dundee has a strong attack but a weak defense. I know Mackay-Steven and Armstrong from when I managed Scotland on 14 and they are both talented CAMs with good potential. Dundee also has Çiftçi, who has been a beast for Tex and was previously a nuisance for me, also from my Scotland days. I don't know much about PAOK so not much to say there. Looking forward to seeing your Europa League run!

Hey Tex, right now that I mentioned Çiftçi, I remembered that I actually confused Greece with Turkey, and Mitroglou with Çiftçi. Çiftçi was still a pain for me I was right about that, but I initially said it was with Greece when he actually played for Turkey. What I said earlier is still true, as in TURKEY was a tough opponent for me and Çiftçi was one of the main reasons why,. I just had the names mixed up lol

@Indiblue: I am really enjoying your Nantes career mode I have to say! The europa league group seems interesting, Bayer Leverkusen ofc being the group favourite but after them I would say that you have the strongest team, Dundee has some cool and talented players though and well I do not really know anything about PAOK except that they are from Greece.
Will be very fun to see how your team copes with having both european competion and the league
