I made a little mistake in my notes so I had to combine the two months

This game was very exciting and it had bad defending and very good finishing spicing it up. Salomon Kalou opened the scoreline in the last minute of the first half with a near post header but only two minutes later the ex-Hertha winger Roy Beerens curled a shot from outside the box to the top left corner. Then he celebrated like a bi*ch.

A couple minutes after the hour mark Kalou got a brace from a counter attack. Once again the lead didn't last long as Tony Jantschke got to a rebounded shot to equalise. Under ten minutes later Oscar Wendt curled in from a free kick which should've been saved by Thomas Kraft. The game wasn't over yet as Baba ran through the whole attacking third and shot the ball into the top left corner to equalise this thriller of a game.





Semi Final
1860 München 1 - 2 Hertha BSC

After beating 1860's big brother Bayern in the quarter final Hertha didn't have that tough of a job beating the other side from Munich. The second team scored before the half an hour mark with Josip Drmic's well-positioned shot from a counter attack. In the beginning of the second half 1860's Rodri scored a near-post header to equalise the game. The game was even for half an hour but then Josip Drmic's pass found Änis Ben-Hatira in the box and the winger shot it into the top net to secure Hertha's place in the final where they'll face Bayer Leverkusen.

Kalou 13', 32', 85', Lustenberger 43'

First Bayern in the quarter finals of the DFB Pokal, then 1860 München in the semi's and now Bayern in the league. Just beating Bayern wasn't enough for Hertha as they went ahead to destroy the giants. Salomon Kalou, who has really looking to get closer to the record of 41 league goals in a season, netted a hattrick to bring his total tally up to 38. He scored the first of the night after stealing the ball from David Alaba near the sideline. Twenty minutes later he got a brace from Atsuto Uchida's pin point cross. Ten minutes after that Hertha's corner was cleared poorly and the ball fell to Fabian Lustenberger. The captain took a few steps and took a shot from outside the box that took a slight deflection and bounced to the back of the net. Five minutes before the end of the game Timo Werner ran down the left flank, got into the box and played a pass to Salomon Kalou in the middle who just tapped the ball into the net. With this win Hertha BSC secured the league title!

FC Nürnberg

Last league game of the season and the goal situation was like this: Gerd Müller's record for most league goals in a season was 40, a record from the 70s that no one had broken. Salomon Kalou had 38 league goals and he needed to score three to break the record. It was clear that Hertha were going to feed him the ball as much as they could but already relegated Nürnberg still had a chance of at least a draw. And so the game began.

In the 20th minute Valentin Stocker started a counter attack and played a through ball to Salomon Kalou. The Ivorian got into the box and curled the ball past Nürnberg's keeper. One down. Twenty minutes later Andre Hahn crossed the ball into the box and Kalou got his brace with a good header. The record was evened. Only six minutes later Andre Hahn was played through down the wing again. The winger crossed the ball in towards Salomon Kalou who jumped in the air like a kangaroo... and he headed the ball into the top corner! He scored his 41st league goal of the season and broke Gerd Müller's forty years old record! Screw Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic, Kalou is the new star! The new record-holder didn't stop there and he went ahead to score one more in the 58th minute after cutting in from the left side of the box. Even that wasn't enough as he scored his 43rd goal from the penalty spot. Nürnberg's Koch managed to get a consolation goal in stoppage time from a rebound but that didn't matter. Kalou had broken the record and Hertha got to lift the trophy! Hertha had won the Bundesliga title! Hertha BSC Berlin Sind die Bundesliga Meister!







Final
Hertha BSC - Bayer Leverkusen

The Deutscher Fussball-Bund Pokal, or just the German Football Association Cup, is the biggest cup competition of the country. This year's finalists were Hertha BSC Berlin and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Hertha had just won the league title. They were looking to win the domestic double in front of their fans at the "neutral" Olympiastadion. the other finalist Leverkusen finished second in the league with 12 points separating them from the Berliners. Hertha's attacking force was in top form with Salomon Kalou scoring five goals two weeks ago and with Valentin Stocker getting the most assists in the league but Leverkusen also had some skillful players like Hakan Calhanoglu and Karim Bellarabi. Both teams still remembered Hertha's 3-0 win a few months ago but in football everything can happen.

And the game started. Hertha tried building up an attack by passing the ball around their attacking third but Bayer Leverkusen defended really well. Every time Valentin Stocker or Salomon Kalou got the ball there were three red-shirts surrounding them. After 12 minutes of passing the ball around Karim Bellarabi ran down the right wing. He passed the ball to Lars Bender in the middle who turned around and played a pass to Kramer. Kramer saw that Max Kruse was free at the left edge of the box and he played the ball to him. The German striker then shot the ball at the near post and somehow the ball found it's way through and Leverkusen were in the lead!

Hertha then tried to take control of the game and equalise but it was almost impossible to get through Leverkusen's strong and compact defence and midfield. The time was running down and Hertha were looking helpless. They did everything they could but at the end they failed to register a single shot on target and Bayer Leverkusen won the cup in a very disappointing performance from both teams.

Salomon Kalou

There really wasn't anyone else who could've received the award for the final month(s) of the season. Salomon Kalou had a god-like month as he managed to score ten goals. The Ivorian also broke the record of most goals in a league season.

Costa had the first chance of the game, hitting the bar with his header early on. Fabregas gave Chelsea the lead, firing in after a good one-two with Costa after winning the ball. Courtois made a good save to deny Sturridge soon after and not much happened till half time. Then Mario did it again. Another stunner. 40 yards out it space, he hits it and it curls into the top corner beyond Courtois, an onlooker at the perfect shot. Sturridge made it 2, running onto Markovic's through ball and placing in at the near post before Mignolet made a good save to deny Costa. Chelsea grabbed a deserved equaliser late on, Ramires smashing into the top corner from 10 yards.

Moses had the first chance of the game for Stoke, heading over the bar with a looping header. Begovic was soon called into action to deny Coutinho calm effort from the edge of the box before Sakho cleared off the line with a sliding tackle. Sturridge missed an absolute sitter, putting wide from 6 yards with the goal gaping but he made up for it with his belting Van Basten-esque volley into the top corner. Shawcross "equalised" when his effort from a corner was blocked on the line by Moreno but it was given as a goal. The goal line technology even showed it as a no-goal but gave the decision as a goal. I sent the screenshot to Simp and Chico so they can vouch for me. Substitute Gerrard gave us the lead in his final cup final, firing into the far corner not long after Moses hit the post. Arnautovic equalised with a header from a long ball in. However, we got the winner in the last minute, Lallana being brought down in the box and out captain, Steven Gerrard, stepped up to convert the penalty.

Palace had the majority of the possession but Speroni was the only keeper forced into a save, diving to his left to save Gerrard's half volley from outside the box. Williams put wide from the edge of the box for Palace and late on, skied the ball over the bar after being played through.

Stoke - Liverpool

We went out in this match, knowing a win would be enough. A draw meant the game between City & Southampton would have to go our way, as with a loss. The match started out dull, Stoke playing physically but we matched them with the power and Henderson sat in front of Sakho and Skrtel. We had the first chance of the game when Coutinho struck from just inside the box but Begovic reached it. Sturridge then forced the Bosnian international into another good save. Into the second half we went and Kane won a corner. It was played to the side of the D to Sterling who let fly, striking the post with a ferocious effort. The ball dropped in the box and Lallana fired in with an acrobatic volley to give us the lead! Coutinho made it 2 soon after, the ball being played through and he cut back before firing into the top corner. Ireland hit the bar for Stoke in their only real chance and Gerrard came on for Lallana to lift the trophy in his final season for Liverpool.

May Headlines

English Competitions

So Liverpool emerge victorious from the long, hard slog called the Barclay's Premier League season. The boys in red caught Manchester City and left their sky blue rivals 1 point behind, agonisingly close for the Blue Moon and their supporters who were left in tears at how they threw it away. This time, they let it slip. Arsenal meanwhile casually strolled into 3rd and the Champions League Group Stages, never looking like challenging for the title but never looking like dropping into the battle for 4th. Chelsea won the battle for 4th, the Pensioners coming out victorious finishing just ahead of Manchester United who will go 2 seasons in a row without the top level of European football. Spurs fought to the very end but just missed out in the end, despite having the 3rd least losses in the league behind Liverpool (1) and Manchester City (2). Stoke clawed their way into Europe in 7th, keeping Everton at bay. At the other end there were no great escapes, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Hull managing to keep Crystal Palace at bay.

European Competitions

The Champions League culminated in Spanish giant Real Madrid winning their 11th trophy and their 2nd in a row, despite their poor group stage campaign. The beat Chelsea in the final 2-1 after the English side overcame Barca in the semi finals. In the Europa League, Manchester City overcame PSG in what was called El Ca$hico, beating the French side 2-1 in the final.

For the other English teams, Arsenal were knocked out in the Round of 16 in the Champions League and Liverpool were knocked out in the quarter finals. In the Europa League, Everton reached the last 16 while Hull and Spurs were knocked out in the first knockout round.

It says a lot when players like Ronaldo, Falcao and James are on the bench against you. Ángel hit the post in the 5th minute but then José Rodríguez tapped in the rebound from his saved shot. Ángel hit back tapping in from a ball across the 6 yard box from Pedro. Khedira however walked too easily past Bigas' challenge and then Laguardia's attempt before slotting home to give Real the halftime lead. Ángel scored again leveling it at 2-2 after Ramos of all people gave it away. But then the cavalry arrived in Ronaldo, Falcao and James. The former smashing one in from 40 yards and with enough power so even though Alcolea got a touch on it he couldn't keep it out. He completed his brace within 8 minutes, skipping past a challenge before finessing around Alcolea. Falcao almost got one himself but Alcolea stopped it. James had his shot saved only for Bale to tap in the rebound in the last minute. We can safely say that the trio of James, Falcao and Ronaldo are definitely game changers.

To try and be better defensively we set up in a 4-4-2 Holding. We did that but still haven't gotten a clean sheet some 14 games in. We got a vital 3 points though. Suárez set Tierno up for the half volley early that settled us into the game. With a 1-0 at halftime we doubled that advantage through Pedro on 56 minutes. He timed his run onto a perfect Ángel through ball and calmly slid it past Ochoa. Sau got one back after Ángel was dispossessed. The ball was played into him and he turned one way then the other confusing Laguardia and making space for the strike. We made sure of the victory when Álamo headed in a Pedro corner with 19 minutes left.

One of those frustrating games. They had 2 shots on target and they scored with both. Alves tackled Medunjanin but the ball rolled to Cuenca who played it in behind Bigas, no idea why he came out, to Bergantiños who slotted around Alcolea. An equalizer same quickly. The ball broke in the box and Álamo swung at it. The ball deflected off Domínguez and past Lux who had already dived the other way. Lux won't want to see Suárez' goal again. His shot went through Lux's legs and into the net for the lead. Bergantiños brought it into the box and Laguardia tackled him only for the ball to go straight back into Bergantiños' path for him to gain a point for Tex's Deportivo.

MotM: López Silva

4-4-1-1 was used today with the B Team. 3 shots on target 3 goals for Córdoba, so frustrating to watch. Youth product Jose Baquero got his first La Liga goal and (I think) his first club goal slotting under Juan Carlos. But we couldn't keep a clean sheet thanks to the same goal being scored on us again. Cabrera was dragged our of position and Havenaar was able to run into the space, turn and shoot in off the post. Whalley tipped a Jose Carlos free kick onto the post early in the second half before Havenaar gave Córdoba the lead. He got past some extremely bad defending from Vallejo before firing past Whalley. As we pushed for the lead Silva dealt the killer blow walking through our defence to make it 3-1. The defence really needs to improve.

Andrés Ferreras - (Mexico) CM, 43-47 Ovr, 71-79 Pot, 15 (Playmaker) - Andrés is an extremely tall young lad. He is 6'2" and not even fully grown yet. The Mexican is great to have in the middle of the park with his height. He has good potential and has chosen to be a central midfielder.

Fabian Lopez - (Spain) CM, 54-64 Ovr, 83-94 Pot, 15 (Technically Gifted) - One of the brightest prospects in the academy is new 15 year old addition Fabian. The Spanish player's stats lean towards him being a playmaker from the centre of the park. Can he one day be as good as Xavi or Iniesta of Barcelona? Only time will tell.

Gabriel Rodriguez - (Spain) RB, 57-61 Ovr, 74-80 Pot, 16 (Defensive Minded) - The 5'8" 16 year old is the second addition to the Zaragoza Academy. He looks like he will be either a defender or a defensive midfielder seeing as his best stats are his defensive one. Particularly his standing tackle and strength. He has decided to be a right back even though he is left footed. With a lack of pace he is most likely to be a CB. I hope he will grow though.

Laurenco Pauleta - (Portugal) LW, 56-60 Ovr, 73-79 Pot, 15 (Attacker) - Laurenco is the first non Spanish player to join our Academy. The Portuguese has decided to play on the left wing where he won't be able to speed past people due to not having incredible pace. The 15 year old is described as an attacker so he may actually be played through the middle or behind the striker because of his 5'11" height.

Miguel Cerezo - (Argentina) LM, 49-57 Ovr, 70-82 Pot, 16 (Technically Gifted) - This 5'9" Argentinian has enough pace to play out wide but he also looks competent enough to play in the middle if needed.

Pablo Acosta - (Mexico) CM/CB/RB, 39-45 Ovr, 70-84 Pot, 15 (Unknown) - The second Mexican added was also a 15 year old. The 5'9" right footer looks like he could be a good fit for the centre of midfield as a creative mind.

Rafael Lopez - (Spain) GK, 60-64 Ovr, 75-81 Pot, 15 (Goalkeeper) - The third addition to the Academy is 6'3" 15 year old goalkeeper Rafael Lopez. The left footed shot stopper's best attribute at the minute looks to be his kicking. We hope that he can be our future No.1 as well as his country's No.1.

A good victory to start the job. We dominated the ball and Quintero got on the score sheet in the 36th minute. Cuéllar's cross found Quintero's head and he guided it past Fernández. Quintero turned provider slipping the ball into Martínez who held off his marker and finessed around the keeper. Cuadrado and Martínez tested the keeper later on with efforts. James came on and then went off with a sprained ankle so he didn't have a huge part. Carbonero also went off with a bruised elbow. Falcao came on and looked lively.

I have no idea how we didn't win this game. We completely dominated with 16 shots 9 of them being on target compared to them just getting 2 shots and none even on target. Their keeper was outstanding with 10 saves that earned him MOTM.

November Headlines

Keane Enters International Management

Real Zaragoza manager Paddy Keane has this month taken up the reigns of the Colombian national team. He hopes to bring the team to the latter stages of the FIFA World Cup and the South America Cup within the next few years. He was available to speak to Sky Sports reporters earlier:

"This is a great opportunity for me. Being able to manage world class players playing at some of the world's biggest clubs is an honour and I'm delighted that the Colombian FA have tasked me with leading the national team. The team had massive amounts of potential and will be capable of winning the biggest trophies on offer as shown in their recent good showing in Brazil. I look forward to getting into the games."

Since that interview Keane has been in charge for two World Cup Qualifying matches picking up 4 points and thoroughly dominated both matches. Fans have been very pleased to see the attacking style of play being implemented by Keane but with 2 clean sheets so far it seems that the defence is up to scratch.

Los Blanquillos Just Remain in Top Six

After a relatively poor month in which the team only recorded 1 win among 2 losses and a draw Keane will not be happy. He saw his team defend poorly against Real in a 5-2 hammering and then finished the month losing 3-1 to lowly Cordóba. Neither keeper, Alcolea or Whalley, has yet manage to keep a clean sheet this season something which no doubt worries and frustrates Keane. The board and fans will hope that he can turn around the team's form and prevent a plummet down the table.

Really interested to see what happens with this CM. I'm wondering what the Russian League has in store for you and i'd also be able to learn about the a league that i don't know much about.

I like that you're going to stick with Russian talent instead of getting foreign which makes it a lot more realistic. Another feature I like is the 5 Russian players on pitch at all times rule but you should have no problem at the moment with that team.

10Cabee: Exeter! I was wondering where you had been. Mixed results in this month, but you are doing fantastic for the PL. 7th place shows how much you are getting out of your squad. Once the quality of your players start catching up to the rest of the league you will really start to fight for those top spots.

Iniesta then was booked twice in the next 6 minutes and was sent off putting Barcelona a man down. De Tomas raced down the right side of the box and sent a low ball across for Iglesias to slide in and tap home to finally take advantage of the extra man. The red card really came back to haunt them after Costa fired a shot off the post and Iglesias was there to fire in the rebound. Deportivo really put the game away when Costa broke free down the left wing and sent a low cross in for Aquino to tap in from in front of goal.

Dzeko was shown a straight red in the 24th minute after he took out Guardado's legs from behind after passing off the ball. Just before the end of the half, Guardado lined up a free kick from 38 yards out and hit it low around the left side of the wall and saw it take a bounce before going into the bottom left corner. Iglesias passed the ball off from the top of the box to Aquino free on the right side of the goal and he was able to trap it and then line up his shot to place it inside the far post. Guardado played the ball to Iglesias outside of the box and then made a run into the middle of the box to get it back from him to fire it into the top right corner.

Witsel took advantage of poor marking and played Rondon up the middle for the easy goal on the near post.

Reyes fired a shot at the goal and saw it kept out by the keeper. Barral was able to stick his foot out and tap the rebound out to the side and Reyes followed up his first miss with a powerful left footed shot into the upper netting for the first senior goal of his career.

Juan Dominguez played the ball to De Tomas just past midfield and he went on a run up the middle to slot it between the keeper's legs and into the net. Luisinho got the ball on the overlap and went through on the left side of the goal before getting pulled down from behind letting De Tomas convert the penalty easily to extend the lead. Hulk pulled down a cross on the left side of the box and picked out Garcia in the middle for the first time strike into the top right but it came too late and Deportivo advanced on away goals.

Aquino attacked the right side of the box and faked a shot before cutting the ball inside and firing a left footed shot inside the far post. Perez pulled one back late after a corner was deflected around a few times and fell to him to power into the top right corner.

Javier Aquino was in impressive form this month tallying 4 goals from his spot on the right side of the field. He also showed off his passing ability connecting on several crosses and being part of many dangerous build up plays.

Manager Comments

League Form - The unbeaten run improves to 18 straight as we seemingly can't be stopped. This month saw us dominate two great teams in Barcelona and Atletico, conceding only 1 goal combined in the process. How long can this run continue? With Real Madrid coming up next month and us pulling within 1 point of their lead, this is a great time to be in this form.

Europa League - After a disappointing home loss in the first leg, we were able to come back and secure our place in the round of 16 with a great performance in the second leg. It was nearly a repeat of our loss to Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey, but I am glad that we were able to pull it out and move on. We face Manchester United next, and this will surely be one of our greatest challenges taking on a team that is typically a perennial Champions League contender.

Guardado Down Again - Andres Guardado was hurt again this month, this time for 3 weeks. This made it difficult going into the second leg of the Europa League match up without our best player, but we were able to push on. Pedro Reyes impressed in his given opportunity taking over in the midfield after being promoted to the senior team. His future with the club looks like it could be very bright if he builds off of his game winner against Levante.

Some great results against some really heavy hitters and it's got you in a great position in the league with only one point seperating you from Real Madrid.

It was tight, but you just managed to beat Zenit to advance into the Europa league which is a great result!

This game was very exciting and it had bad defending and very good finishing spicing it up. Salomon Kalou opened the scoreline in the last minute of the first half with a near post header but only two minutes later the ex-Hertha winger Roy Beerens curled a shot from outside the box to the top left corner. Then he celebrated like a bi*ch.

A couple minutes after the hour mark Kalou got a brace from a counter attack. Once again the lead didn't last long as Tony Jantschke got to a rebounded shot to equalise. Under ten minutes later Oscar Wendt curled in from a free kick which should've been saved by Thomas Kraft. The game wasn't over yet as Baba ran through the whole attacking third and shot the ball into the top left corner to equalise this thriller of a game.

After beating 1860's big brother Bayern in the quarter final Hertha didn't have that tough of a job beating the other side from Munich. The second team scored before the half an hour mark with Josip Drmic's well-positioned shot from a counter attack. In the beginning of the second half 1860's Rodri scored a near-post header to equalise the game. The game was even for half an hour but then Josip Drmic's pass found Änis Ben-Hatira in the box and the winger shot it into the top net to secure Hertha's place in the final where they'll face Bayer Leverkusen.

First Bayern in the quarter finals of the DFB Pokal, then 1860 München in the semi's and now Bayern in the league. Just beating Bayern wasn't enough for Hertha as they went ahead to destroy the giants. Salomon Kalou, who has really looking to get closer to the record of 41 league goals in a season, netted a hattrick to bring his total tally up to 38. He scored the first of the night after stealing the ball from David Alaba near the sideline. Twenty minutes later he got a brace from Atsuto Uchida's pin point cross. Ten minutes after that Hertha's corner was cleared poorly and the ball fell to Fabian Lustenberger. The captain took a few steps and took a shot from outside the box that took a slight deflection and bounced to the back of the net. Five minutes before the end of the game Timo Werner ran down the left flank, got into the box and played a pass to Salomon Kalou in the middle who just tapped the ball into the net. With this win Hertha BSC secured the league title!

Last league game of the season and the goal situation was like this: Gerd Müller's record for most league goals in a season was 40, a record from the 70s that no one had broken. Salomon Kalou had 38 league goals and he needed to score three to break the record. It was clear that Hertha were going to feed him the ball as much as they could but already relegated Nürnberg still had a chance of at least a draw. And so the game began.

In the 20th minute Valentin Stocker started a counter attack and played a through ball to Salomon Kalou. The Ivorian got into the box and curled the ball past Nürnberg's keeper. One down. Twenty minutes later Andre Hahn crossed the ball into the box and Kalou got his brace with a good header. The record was evened. Only six minutes later Andre Hahn was played through down the wing again. The winger crossed the ball in towards Salomon Kalou who jumped in the air like a kangaroo... and he headed the ball into the top corner! He scored his 41st league goal of the season and broke Gerd Müller's forty years old record! Screw Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic, Kalou is the new star! The new record-holder didn't stop there and he went ahead to score one more in the 58th minute after cutting in from the left side of the box. Even that wasn't enough as he scored his 43rd goal from the penalty spot. Nürnberg's Koch managed to get a consolation goal in stoppage time from a rebound but that didn't matter. Kalou had broken the record and Hertha got to lift the trophy! Hertha had won the Bundesliga title! Hertha BSC Berlin Sind die Bundesliga Meister!

Hertha BSC - Bayer Leverkusen

The Deutscher Fussball-Bund Pokal, or just the German Football Association Cup, is the biggest cup competition of the country. This year's finalists were Hertha BSC Berlin and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Hertha had just won the league title. They were looking to win the domestic double in front of their fans at the "neutral" Olympiastadion. the other finalist Leverkusen finished second in the league with 12 points separating them from the Berliners. Hertha's attacking force was in top form with Salomon Kalou scoring five goals two weeks ago and with Valentin Stocker getting the most assists in the league but Leverkusen also had some skillful players like Hakan Calhanoglu and Karim Bellarabi. Both teams still remembered Hertha's 3-0 win a few months ago but in football everything can happen.

And the game started. Hertha tried building up an attack by passing the ball around their attacking third but Bayer Leverkusen defended really well. Every time Valentin Stocker or Salomon Kalou got the ball there were three red-shirts surrounding them. After 12 minutes of passing the ball around Karim Bellarabi ran down the right wing. He passed the ball to Lars Bender in the middle who turned around and played a pass to Kramer. Kramer saw that Max Kruse was free at the left edge of the box and he played the ball to him. The German striker then shot the ball at the near post and somehow the ball found it's way through and Leverkusen were in the lead!

Hertha then tried to take control of the game and equalise but it was almost impossible to get through Leverkusen's strong and compact defence and midfield. The time was running down and Hertha were looking helpless. They did everything they could but at the end they failed to register a single shot on target and Bayer Leverkusen won the cup in a very disappointing performance from both teams.

Courtois made a good save to deny Sturridge soon after and not much happened till half time. Then Mario did it again. Another stunner. 40 yards out it space, he hits it and it curls into the top corner beyond Courtois, an onlooker at the perfect shot. Sturridge made it 2, running onto Markovic's through ball and placing in at the near post before Mignolet made a good save to deny Costa. Chelsea grabbed a deserved equaliser late on, Ramires smashing into the top corner from 10 yards.

Moses had the first chance of the game for Stoke, heading over the bar with a looping header. Begovic was soon called into action to deny Coutinho calm effort from the edge of the box before Sakho cleared off the line with a sliding tackle. Sturridge missed an absolute sitter, putting wide from 6 yards with the goal gaping but he made up for it with his belting Van Basten-esque volley into the top corner. Shawcross "equalised" when his effort from a corner was blocked on the line by Moreno but it was given as a goal. The goal line technology even showed it as a no-goal but gave the decision as a goal. I sent the screenshot to Simp and Chico so they can vouch for me. Substitute Gerrard gave us the lead in his final cup final, firing into the far corner not long after Moses hit the post. Arnautovic equalised with a header from a long ball in. However, we got the winner in the last minute, Lallana being brought down in the box and out captain, Steven Gerrard, stepped up to convert the penalty.

We went out in this match, knowing a win would be enough. A draw meant the game between City & Southampton would have to go our way, as with a loss. The match started out dull, Stoke playing physically but we matched them with the power and Henderson sat in front of Sakho and Skrtel. We had the first chance of the game when Coutinho struck from just inside the box but Begovic reached it. Sturridge then forced the Bosnian international into another good save. Into the second half we went and Kane won a corner. It was played to the side of the D to Sterling who let fly, striking the post with a ferocious effort. The ball dropped in the box and Lallana fired in with an acrobatic volley to give us the lead! Coutinho made it 2 soon after, the ball being played through and he cut back before firing into the top corner. Ireland hit the bar for Stoke in their only real chance and Gerrard came on for Lallana to lift the trophy in his final season for Liverpool.

May Headlines

English Competitions

So Liverpool emerge victorious from the long, hard slog called the Barclay's Premier League season. The boys in red caught Manchester City and left their sky blue rivals 1 point behind, agonisingly close for the Blue Moon and their supporters who were left in tears at how they threw it away. This time, they let it slip. Arsenal meanwhile casually strolled into 3rd and the Champions League Group Stages, never looking like challenging for the title but never looking like dropping into the battle for 4th. Chelsea won the battle for 4th, the Pensioners coming out victorious finishing just ahead of Manchester United who will go 2 seasons in a row without the top level of European football. Spurs fought to the very end but just missed out in the end, despite having the 3rd least losses in the league behind Liverpool (1) and Manchester City (2). Stoke clawed their way into Europe in 7th, keeping Everton at bay. At the other end there were no great escapes, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Hull managing to keep Crystal Palace at bay.

European Competitions

The Champions League culminated in Spanish giant Real Madrid winning their 11th trophy and their 2nd in a row, despite their poor group stage campaign. The beat Chelsea in the final 2-1 after the English side overcame Barca in the semi finals. In the Europa League, Manchester City overcame PSG in what was called El Ca$hico, beating the French side 2-1 in the final.

For the other English teams, Arsenal were knocked out in the Round of 16 in the Champions League and Liverpool were knocked out in the quarter finals. In the Europa League, Everton reached the last 16 while Hull and Spurs were knocked out in the first knockout round.

Amazing turn of events! You've pretty much won everything and you just managed to pip Manchester City to the post an come away with the trophy so I applaud you for all your success!

It says a lot when players like Ronaldo, Falcao and James are on the bench against you. Ángel hit the post in the 5th minute but then José Rodríguez tapped in the rebound from his saved shot. Ángel hit back tapping in from a ball across the 6 yard box from Pedro. Khedira however walked too easily past Bigas' challenge and then Laguardia's attempt before slotting home to give Real the halftime lead. Ángel scored again leveling it at 2-2 after Ramos of all people gave it away. But then the cavalry arrived in Ronaldo, Falcao and James. The former smashing one in from 40 yards and with enough power so even though Alcolea got a touch on it he couldn't keep it out. He completed his brace within 8 minutes, skipping past a challenge before finessing around Alcolea. Falcao almost got one himself but Alcolea stopped it. James had his shot saved only for Bale to tap in the rebound in the last minute. We can safely say that the trio of James, Falcao and Ronaldo are definitely game changers.

To try and be better defensively we set up in a 4-4-2 Holding. We did that but still haven't gotten a clean sheet some 14 games in. We got a vital 3 points though. Suárez set Tierno up for the half volley early that settled us into the game. With a 1-0 at halftime we doubled that advantage through Pedro on 56 minutes. He timed his run onto a perfect Ángel through ball and calmly slid it past Ochoa. Sau got one back after Ángel was dispossessed. The ball was played into him and he turned one way then the other confusing Laguardia and making space for the strike. We made sure of the victory when Álamo headed in a Pedro corner with 19 minutes left.

The ball broke in the box and Álamo swung at it. The ball deflected off Domínguez and past Lux who had already dived the other way. Lux won't want to see Suárez' goal again. His shot went through Lux's legs and into the net for the lead. Bergantiños brought it into the box and Laguardia tackled him only for the ball to go straight back into Bergantiños' path for him to gain a point for Tex's Deportivo.

4-4-1-1 was used today with the B Team. 3 shots on target 3 goals for Córdoba, so frustrating to watch. Youth product Jose Baquero got his first La Liga goal and (I think) his first club goal slotting under Juan Carlos. But we couldn't keep a clean sheet thanks to the same goal being scored on us again. Cabrera was dragged our of position and Havenaar was able to run into the space, turn and shoot in off the post. Whalley tipped a Jose Carlos free kick onto the post early in the second half before Havenaar gave Córdoba the lead. He got past some extremely bad defending from Vallejo before firing past Whalley. As we pushed for the lead Silva dealt the killer blow walking through our defence to make it 3-1. The defence really needs to improve.

Andrés Ferreras - (Mexico) CM, 43-47 Ovr, 71-79 Pot, 15 (Playmaker) - Andrés is an extremely tall young lad. He is 6'2" and not even fully grown yet. The Mexican is great to have in the middle of the park with his height. He has good potential and has chosen to be a central midfielder.

Fabian Lopez - (Spain) CM, 54-64 Ovr, 83-94 Pot, 15 (Technically Gifted) - One of the brightest prospects in the academy is new 15 year old addition Fabian. The Spanish player's stats lean towards him being a playmaker from the centre of the park. Can he one day be as good as Xavi or Iniesta of Barcelona? Only time will tell.

Gabriel Rodriguez - (Spain) RB, 57-61 Ovr, 74-80 Pot, 16 (Defensive Minded) - The 5'8" 16 year old is the second addition to the Zaragoza Academy. He looks like he will be either a defender or a defensive midfielder seeing as his best stats are his defensive one. Particularly his standing tackle and strength. He has decided to be a right back even though he is left footed. With a lack of pace he is most likely to be a CB. I hope he will grow though.

Laurenco Pauleta - (Portugal) LW, 56-60 Ovr, 73-79 Pot, 15 (Attacker) - Laurenco is the first non Spanish player to join our Academy. The Portuguese has decided to play on the left wing where he won't be able to speed past people due to not having incredible pace. The 15 year old is described as an attacker so he may actually be played through the middle or behind the striker because of his 5'11" height.

Miguel Cerezo - (Argentina) LM, 49-57 Ovr, 70-82 Pot, 16 (Technically Gifted) - This 5'9" Argentinian has enough pace to play out wide but he also looks competent enough to play in the middle if needed.

Pablo Acosta - (Mexico) CM/CB/RB, 39-45 Ovr, 70-84 Pot, 15 (Unknown) - The second Mexican added was also a 15 year old. The 5'9" right footer looks like he could be a good fit for the centre of midfield as a creative mind.

Rafael Lopez - (Spain) GK, 60-64 Ovr, 75-81 Pot, 15 (Goalkeeper) - The third addition to the Academy is 6'3" 15 year old goalkeeper Rafael Lopez. The left footed shot stopper's best attribute at the minute looks to be his kicking. We hope that he can be our future No.1 as well as his country's No.1.

A good victory to start the job. We dominated the ball and Quintero got on the score sheet in the 36th minute. Cuéllar's cross found Quintero's head and he guided it past Fernández. Quintero turned provider slipping the ball into Martínez who held off his marker and finessed around the keeper. Cuadrado and Martínez tested the keeper later on with efforts. James came on and then went off with a sprained ankle so he didn't have a huge part. Carbonero also went off with a bruised elbow. Falcao came on and looked lively.

Keane Enters International Management

Real Zaragoza manager Paddy Keane has this month taken up the reigns of the Colombian national team. He hopes to bring the team to the latter stages of the FIFA World Cup and the South America Cup within the next few years. He was available to speak to Sky Sports reporters earlier:

"This is a great opportunity for me. Being able to manage world class players playing at some of the world's biggest clubs is an honour and I'm delighted that the Colombian FA have tasked me with leading the national team. The team had massive amounts of potential and will be capable of winning the biggest trophies on offer as shown in their recent good showing in Brazil. I look forward to getting into the games."

Since that interview Keane has been in charge for two World Cup Qualifying matches picking up 4 points and thoroughly dominated both matches. Fans have been very pleased to see the attacking style of play being implemented by Keane but with 2 clean sheets so far it seems that the defence is up to scratch.

Los Blanquillos Just Remain in Top Six

After a relatively poor month in which the team only recorded 1 win among 2 losses and a draw Keane will not be happy. He saw his team defend poorly against Real in a 5-2 hammering and then finished the month losing 3-1 to lowly Cordóba. Neither keeper, Alcolea or Whalley, has yet manage to keep a clean sheet this season something which no doubt worries and frustrates Keane. The board and fans will hope that he can turn around the team's form and prevent a plummet down the table.

It doesn't have to be France, yet some other team. Just post when the real games are on, you don't have to show us the qualifiers.

A little behind on catching up to everyone, but gonna get this reply out of the way first thing. I like that idea, though I agree maybe not with France, as it might take away the WHU focus so I think I'll wait for England/Germany (countries I have heritage from). Yeah I definitely think we have over achieved so far this season. I just hope that we can still manage to pick up a couple of wins here and there along with a couple of draws to stay midtable and at the very least avoid relegation.

Tex, Chico: I played one match with the Come Short tactic on my RM Javi Álamo with Zaragoza earlier. He got on the ball an awful lot more than my other winger. I definitely think that instruction is best suited for a technical, ball playing winger much like Torres for you Chico. Will try some more games with it soon.

First game of the year, and even if it was for a meaningless trophy, it still sets everything up quite well. We took the lead early, as Yaya Toure hit an amazing free-kick off the bar and behind Ospina to take the lead. However, a few moments later, Sanchez showed some trickery in our box, which lead to Lampard fouling him and giving Arsenal a penalty. Hart did guess the right way, yet the shot was too powerful.

Lampard did redeem himself, when Sterling got taken down by Gabriel in the box and the ref gave another penalty. Lampard was as cool as ever, hitting it down the middle to give us the lead. We went on to score another one in the second half, as some good skill by Nasri got him inside the box, where he gave the ball to a running Sterling, who then put it right in the bottom corner to give us the two-goal lead.

Arsenal did manage to bag one back late, as a poor display from the defense left Özil completely open, where he turned around and put it in. However, it was too little too late - we won the title!

First game of the league started really poorly, as just óne pass to Cisse and a quick turn and shoot left us trailing early. We managed to earn another penalty, yet this time, Krul was on point and saved Lampards shot.

It was Sterling scoring yet again, as Austins chip pass went over the defense and straight to him. We were pressuring them heavy, and it seemed like we would score another goal, yet we couldn't get past Krul. A draw to start the season - not the best, yet not the worst.

Second game, and we had to play Liverpool at home. And this game was the hardest this season yet. We looked very poor early on, and when Borini passed to ball to an open Sturridge, he had to hit the open net to give them the lead.

We tried holding our own, but we looked very poor attacking. We mostly sat back in defense, with a few good chances from Sterling and Toure, yet nothing crucial.

Final moments of the game, Sturridge gave a great cross over our defense to Yesil, who volleyed it right past Hart. A 2-0 loss we had to swallow.

Last game of the month, and we had to bounce back strong against Stoke. I knew that they have Jovetic, yet I still was sure that we would have the better team. Wilshere also made his debut in this game, and he was instant impact, as his pass to Sterling was a successful assist, as we got the lead early.

Just before the half, Toure played the ball to Milner, who, completely unlike him, got past two players and shot it right down the bottom corner. I felt a lot better, considering that the first games (well,except the Arsenal game) haven't gone our way.

Second half, Austin finally scored a goal for us, as a long shot from Toure was fumbled and dropped right infront of Charlie, who put it right past Begovic. He wasn't done there, as his pass to Sterling was an assist, as Sterling drilled the ball from outside the box into the bottom corner. A confident performance to end the month.

Summary

So, I got to admit, this is a lot harder than I thought it would be. The team isn't clicking just yet, but it is early days. Selling all of Citys stars and buying in English talent isn't really the way to replace it instantly, yet hopefully, in the future these players will blossom.

At the moment, I would say Sterling has been the best purchase. Wilshere has only played one game, where he did look solid. Barkley hasn't even played yet, as he got injured as soon as he joined us. He will play in the first game next month.

Which brings me to next post. Next post will have our first game in the Champions League, a huge league game against Chelsea, our first Capital One Cup game, a league game against Hull and another piece of action against Arsenal.

Raul Albentosa will be out of action for approximately 10 days, as he has suffered a concussion in training.

Malaga CF 1 - 1 CA Osasuna

Ignasi Miquel was given his first chance to start with the First Team, replacing the injured Albentosa at LCB. Miquel earned this chance as he has been playing really well for the B-Team, often making up for Pedro Bigas' mistakes. Today he had a quiet match, but the defense looked solid. Osasuna had been the better team while attacking but they had trouble finishing the plays in front of the goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who was undoubtedly trying to impress the new Mexico boss Chavez. Malaga struck first with a header from Camacho. Chavez was seen taking notes after the goal, either noting the defensive flaws or perhaps doing some scouting work. Just eleven minutes later Osasuna hit back, with Palacios receiving a pass outside the box but then with an incredible individual play dribbling past his marker and stepping into the box, where he calmly used an inside foot touch to strike the ball past Ochoa.

Even though Osasuna had been playing well, this goal was all Palacios as he created the scoring opportunity himself with quick dribbling. The young striker has had the reputation of wasting scoring chances in front of goal, but he didn't let that get to him today as he finished the play wonderfully.

After being eliminated in the Copa Del Rey by Sevilla, the B-Team's morale has been quite low. The team no longer plays with confidence, and their style of play was not fluid at all in the first minutes of the match. This only worsened when Cordoba scored first barely in the 14th minute, and many of the players just looked at each other, unable to find an answer. The answer came straight from the resulting kick off just two minutes later though, as Kenan Kodro played Julian Luque through on goal where the attacking midfielder sprinted in and then took a powerful left footed shot from near the penalty spot, a distance that made it impossible for the goalkeeper to react in time.

Despite the goal the B-Team still struggled to get their game going, and it really looked like the match would end in a draw as Cordoba refused to give Osasuna the initiative. Just two minutes before the 90th minute mark, Ulises Davila put Osasuna in the lead with his first goal in La Liga in barely his second match with the B-Team. Davila had initiated a wall pass with Oier that allowed Oier to find him open inside the box. Davila did not hesitate when the pass came, and with his first touch took an inside foot shot on goal that went past the keeper and into the net.

Just two minutes later, Davila would extend the lead by completing his brace, scoring off a rebound of his own shot. The goal gave Osasuna a comfortable lead and left Cordoba out of time for a late reaction.

Europa League - Round of 32 (1st Leg)

What. A. Match. The home side got things running straightaway with Klaasen scoring an absolute GO-LA-ZO. Ajax's 4-3-3 Holding with the LCM in a more advanced position than the rest allowed Klaasen (LCM) to sneak in behind Miguel Flaño and then take an extremely powerful, but very well placed, shot into the top right corner leaving Riesgo with no chance of reaching it. Just five minutes later Viergever would extend the lead for the Dutch with a low shot and it looked like Osasuna were in for a long night in Amsterdam as they were down 2-0 before reaching the 15 minute mark. However, there would be a light at the end of the tunnel for Osasuna as Guillermo dribbled past Ajax's captain and right as he was about to engage in a one on one with the keeper he was taken down by a slide tackle from Ajax's captain. Guillermo went down and the referee immediately called a penalty, but Guillermo did not get up. The basque striker had to be taken off the field so that the doc could take a look at him. Meanwhile, Roberto Torres stepped up to take the penalty against the Dutch international Cillessen. Torres outwitted Cillessen by taking a well placed shot to the top right corner, while keeper stayed in the middle.

After the goal Guillermo came back on to the field, refusing to be subbed out because of his injury, and he immediately showed that no injury is going to stop him again (remembering his broken ankle last season) by equalizing the match just 4 minutes after the penalty! Guillermo used an amazing first touch to bring down a lob pass from midfield and sprint past his marker, Ajax's captain, who in order to avoid a double yellow had to hold himself back while trying to stop Guillermo from getting past him. Guillermo would reach the goalkeeper's box and then power a low left footed shot that just happened to go in between Cillessen's legs and into the net!

The first half ended 2-2 with both teams going back and forth. Just two minutes into the second half, Guillermo scored a brace by sending in a wonderful, outside foot shot with his right from outside the box, which seemed to be going wide but curved inward, and sneaked into the bottom left corner!

A wonderful goal that made the Amsterdam Arena fall silent as their team had just lost a 2-0 lead and were now down on the scoreline. Klaassen would come through and equalize for Ajax in the 74th minute and the stadium came back to life. Both teams had already delivered an exciting match at 3-3, but the game isn't over until the referee says so and Osasuna were able to take the lead in the final minute of the match. Palacios drifted wide, sprinted down the right wing and crossed the ball into the box, where Guillermo lost his marker and met it with his head, twisting his entire upper body to put as much power into the header as possible, and put Osasuna in the lead!

Guillermo had completed a hat-trick, a perfect hat-trick as well since he scored with both feet and his head. He still hadn't recovered completely from the injury he suffered at the beginning of the match, and as soon as the referee blew the whistle the medical staff rushed to him to ice his knee, hoping he didn't aggravate the injury more than he should have. Scoring a hat-trick while injured and never holding back certainly made Guillermo the hero of the night.

Guillermo will be out for approximately 3 weeks due to a Hyper Extended Knee he suffered during the match against Ajax.

Formation Talk
Alright, so given these terrible circumstances with Guillermo missing the rest of the month, I will have to make some adjustments to the lineup. I'll be playing Palacios up front alone, just like Guillermo's injury last season, but with a customized 4-1-4-1. Like I mentioned in my last update, the default 4-1-4-1 is way too flat for my tastes, so I will edit the LCM and RCM back closer to the CDM, and the LM and RM forward to creat an arc. Palacios will be the lone striker, Torres will be moved to LCM where he will be my brain in attack, but I am still unsure who will play RM. This is what it will look like,


Sevilla FC 0 - 1 CA Osasuna (B-Team)
OSA: Davila PEN 59'

A hotly contested match as the B-Team had their shot on revenge against the team that knocked them out of the Copa Del Rey. This match was also very important, as only 1 point separated these two teams, and the winner would take 2nd place on the league table. Osasuna were dangerous in attack, with Davila and Luque frequently swapping between CAM and LM but the Russian goalkeeper Akinfeev was at the top of his game as usual. It wasn't until the 69th minute where things got really interesting, as a penalty was called by the referee for a foul by Akinfeev against Kenan Kodro. Ramirez had crossed the ball into the box looking for Kodro, but Kodro wasn't able to reach it since his marker got to it first. Akinfeev had come out looking for the ball as well, but his teammate got to it first which led to Akinfeev crashing into Kodro off the ball. The foul wasn't called until the following action though; the ball was dropping and Kodro was getting up to fight for the rebound. However Akinfeev was on top of him, which impeded Kodro from fully getting up. Kodro went down for a second time and that's where the referee blew the whistle. Ulises Davila stepped up to take the penalty and did so brilliantly with a well placed shot to the right.

The B-Team won by a minimal difference, but they are now in second place!

Europa League - Round of 32 (2nd Leg)
CA Osasuna 2 (6) - (3) 0 AFC Ajax
OSA: Torres PEN 22' Olavide 87'
Osasuna came out without the first leg's hero Guillermo, but with Chavez's emergency 4-1-4-1 formation they were able to keep Ajax at bay. Ulises Davila appeared with the First Team today after playing a great match against Sevilla, and he continued his great form now at RM. Another penalty was called in favor of Osasuna, the third in the past three matches, this time because of shirt pulling. Federico Palacios had dribbled past the defense and into the box, but the Ajax defender pulled on his shirt trying to stop him from scoring which forced Palacios to go to ground and the referee to call the penalty. Roberto Torres took the penalty, this time sending it to the left while Cillessen dove to the right where Torres had taken the penalty in the first leg.

The match was very even with Ajax completely neutralized this time around. As we neared the end of the match there was virtually no chance for Ajax to progress as they needed to score three goals since the away goals were in favor of Osasuna. The Dutch went all out attack in the final ten minutes which would be their fall. Ajax had been pushing too high and even their centre backs were pushing forward. Palacios did not drop with them though and instead stayed by the midfield line. Osasuna won the ball back in the final minutes and quickly sent the ball forward looking for Palacios who was onside thanks to the midfield line rule. Palacios would wait for Osasuna's homegrown midfielder Miguel Olavide to overlap and then pass the ball to him. Olavide was fresh off the bench, and was able to sprint with the ball all the way to the opponent's box where he challenged Cillessen to a one on one and won!

With the 2-0 victory Osasuna have advanced to the next round of the Europa League. The fixtures have yet to be announced.

CA Osasuna (B-Team) 2 - 3 Atletico Madrid

It had to happen eventually, and it has now. Nothing lasts forever, and Osasuna have now lost their first ever home match in La Liga since being promoted with Chavez as manager. Ulises Davila, who has scored 3 of the last 4 B-Team goals, did not play today as he was given a rest for participating with the First Team in the Europa League. Mandzukic put Atletico in the lead after his teammate dribbled past Osasuna's Ivan and put in a ground cross into the box looking for anybody. Mandzukic was able to get to it first and simply tapped it in to the net. Just seven minutes later, Atletico scored again and in the exact same fashion. Once again Atletico's winger dribbled past Ivan and sent in a cross on the ground into the box looking for anybody and Cerci found it. Things were not looking good for Osasuna at all. A shaky defense, and a poor attack in which the ball was lost every time it made it's way to Kodro. Ten minutes into the second half, Turan made it 3-0 for the away team, something that had never happened to Chavez's Osasuna at El Sadar. Things were terrible indeed, but the LB Marcos Alonso was able to get the blood pumping again by scoring Osasuna's first at the 64th minute. The fans cheered on for a comeback and the team gave it their all, but the second goal didn't come until the 90th minute with Oier scoring off of Maikel Mesa's assist. Osasuna has the tendency to make incredible comebacks at El Sadar, but this time their reaction was too late, and the match ended 3-2 for Atletico. The fans made their unhappiness known as they booed their team off the pitch.

CA Osasuna Player of The Month

CM - Miguel Olavide (Spain) (69 OVR 21yrs)
Born in Pamplona, Olavide joined the Osasuna youth academy and moved up through the ranks until reaching the senior team in 2014. Olavide had a small role in Chavez's first season at the club, and spent the entire second season out on a season loan. This season he has come back to the club and Chavez gave him a vote of confidence, choosing to keep Olavide with the squad rather than loaning him out again. This month Olavide really showed that he has developed into a fine player, becoming a regular sub primarily with the B-Team and always making a positive impact on the field. Olavide also netted his first European goal this month in the 2-0 home win against Ajax. The 21 year old is beginning to make claims for a starting spot with the B-Team pressuring Nono, who was brought in from Real Betis last season but has had minimal development with Osasuna.

Alex Garcia - CB (Mexico) (45-47, 80-86): The first and only CB in the academy, and with Miguel Flaño reaching the end of his era I am very anxious to see more reports on him. At 16 years old he stands at 6'2", and is considered Physically Strong. A perfect combination for a CB.

Alex Silva Gavan - RM (Spain) (59-63, 74-80): The 17 year old has decided to settle in at RM and is considered an attacker. With a 6'0" height he's a good fit pretty much anywhere on the field especially down the center, but he has decided he's most comfortable on the wing.

Chris Cropper - GK (United States) (49-53, 79-85): The third American goalkeeper to join the Youth Academy. At 16 years old he stands at 6'3" and his game is well balanced so far.

Chris Jamieson IV - GK (United States) (61-65, 78-84): Julian Rubin was the first American to join the academy, but now this 6'7" giant also from the United States has stolen the show as people are excited to see him between the sticks. At 16 years old he's looking like a solid candidate for a call up soon depending on how he shapes up with the U17s.

Eriq Lisch - GK (United States) (57-61, 88-94): The fourth and final American goalkeeper to join the academy. 16 years old, 6'1", and so far he looks like the most promising. From what we've seen of him with the U-17 he still needs to improve his positioning. Competition to be the first American to play for Osasuna is hot.

Eñaut Gabbiadini - CDM (Spain) (54-58, 72-78): The Spanish midfielder becomes the 2nd CDM in the academy, although at 15 years old he still has much to develop, including his height which is quite low for a CDM as he stands at 5'3".

Frost S. Napoles - CM (Spain) (55-59, 70-74): Technically Gifted has been the term used to describe the 17 year old midfielder from Spain, but we haven't seen enough of him with the U17 to say what his future holds.

Ivan Miranda - LW (Spain) (55-61, 78-86): The 15 year old is still being evaluated by the youth staff, but so far he's been most inclined to play as a LW, ST, and RW. If he decides to play down the middle, he'll need to stretch a little as he is currently only 5'2".

Julian Rubin - GK (United States) (58-62, 73-77): Julian becomes the first player from the United States to join the Osasuna youth academy, and if he develops well enough he could even become the first ever American player to wear Osasuna's colors. The 16 year old goalkeeper could make history, but first he must show his class in the youth levels.

Luis Martinez - CM (Spain) (53-57, 87-93): I'm really glad he decided to settle in as a CM and not CB. Really looking forward to see how he grows in May. At only 15 years of age he still has much to grow as far as height though as he stands at 5'1".

Mario Santana - ST (Mexico) (49-53, 83-89): Really excited to see future reports on this kid from Mexico. He's described as "Physically Strong" and you know how much I like to play with a target man. The downside is that he's only 5'3", but he's still 15 years old so I'm hoping he'll grow closer to the 6 foot range.
*Santana has just turned 16 and is now eligible to play in La Liga. I'm a bit disappointed that his height only grew to 5'10 as I really wanted a target man, but he is Physically Strong so he should be a good striker nonetheless.*

Roussillon Murnane - ST (Spain) (57-61, 71-75): The 5'9" 17-year old from Spain has shown the characteristics of a winger as he tends to drift wide from the center.

February Headlines

Kenan Kodro
The B-Team's strikers are going through dry spells, and as their recent results will show they have been this way for quite some time. Only recently has it really made an impact with the B-Team being eliminated from the Copa Del Rey and then losing Osasuna's incredible undefeated streak at home. These poor results fall mainly on the strikers, Kenan Kodro and Manuel Onwu, who have been unable to find the net. As you may recall, Kodro was Osasuna's top scorer for the first months of this season. There was even a time in which Kodro was given the opportunity to play alongside Guillermo with the First Team. Unfortunately it was after that opportunity that Kodro fell off the radar. The 6'4" striker hasn't found the net since the first week of November, scoring in the 2-1 defeat against SK Rapid Wien in the Europa League. Kodro's scoring record is 10 goals in one season, which he achieved in 6 months last season, but this year his mark has been halted at 9 goals. It is clear Chavez is beginning to lose his patience from the bench. The second striker is Manuel Onwu, who is currently the B-Team's all time (career mode) top scorer with 20 Goals to his name, but this season he has only managed to score 1 goal. His only goal of the season came from Osasuna's first match in the Europa League. Since then, the striker has been unable to find the net making it easy to assume his time at Osasuna is coming to an end. There may be some changes coming up soon for the B-Team, especially with Ulises Davila's great form since joining this January which currently has him playing with the First Team filling in for Guillermo's injury. Davila has already scored more goals than Onwu and he has done so as a midfielder, however he can also play as a striker.

Europa League
After an exciting first leg Osasuna were able to comfortably secure the win in the second leg to eliminate Ajax and advance to the next round of the knockout stage. This is where things begin to get even more interesting, and Osasuna will certainly have to work hard if they want to keep pushing on. Osasuna's next opponent will be Arsenal, one of England's top teams. Last season Osasuna were eliminated by Tottenham, and they will now have to face another London club hoping to get rid of any old ghosts. Arsenal will be a completely different challenge though, as they count on a lineup of world class players with Mezut Ozil, one of the tournaments top scorers, amongst them. There are some good news for Osasuna though. The match is scheduled to be played on March 11th, and Guillermo is expected to be 100% match fit on that very same day. Although Palacios had done very well as lone striker in the current 4-1-4-1, having your top scorer ready to play is fantastic news. However, Guillermo had a tough time adjusting to playing again after his 2 month injury last season, so the staff will be hoping that won't be the case this time and he can come back in good form against such a dangerous opponent like Arsenal.

Internal Competition Intensifies
Even scrimmages during Osasuna's training sessions are taken very seriously, as with Chavez's system there are many opportunities for players to move up or down based on their performances. While the First Team looks set, the B-Team has players fighting for a spot every week. One of the players that needs to watch his back is Nono (67 OVR), who was purchased from Real Betis last season, because since his arrival he has not improved any part of his game and his performances on the field can only justify so much. Nono has to worry about youth graduate Paré Bulhões Vinuesa Ramos (74 OVR), who unlike Romeu has struggled to find a secure starting spot but as a substitute has been putting in great performances. Another midfielder trying to move up is the homegrown Miguel Olavide (69 OVR) who has also been pushing for a spot with great performances coming off the bench. One of the players who is just barely holding on to his spot is the RB Ivan (73 OVR), who arrived from Real Valladolid last season, as he has fallen from the First Team losing his spot to Romeu, and is now on the verge of being dropped from the B-Team as well. While there is no other natural RB in the squad, Oier (CDM 71 OVR) can also cover that position quite well and by moving Oier to defense it could open up midfield spots for players like Ramos and Olavide to fill. Let's not forget that David Ferreiro is about 75% recovered from his broken elbow injury, and when he returns he will also be fighting to retake his starting spot on the wing.


Conclusion
February 27th of 2017, a date that I will not be able to forget. The day in which Atletico Madrid ended our home undefeated streak. We went a year and six months without ever losing a league match at El Sadar, but that is over now. I knew it had to happen eventually though, so now we move forward and see if I can break this record again.

As I mentioned above, the B-Team needs some changes. When we were 3-1 down against Atletico, I changed to a 4-4-2 Narrow Diamond and the team played A LOT better. I had Oier at CDM with the instruction to stay back while attacking, Nono at LCM without instructions, and Ramirez at RCM with the free roam instruction since he's a winger. The team played a whole lot better in attack like this so I plan on trying it out from the start in the next B-Team match. Luque will play at CAM while Kodro and Davila/Onwu will play at LS and RS. Davila would be my first choice over Onwu but since he is currently playing with the First Team at RM I'll have to see if he is fit enough to play with both teams.

I actually had my eye on him when he was transfer listed by Chelsea in my first season but I couldn't afford him. Good to see he is performing for you though. What a thriller against Ajax! De Tomas raced down the right side of the box and sent a low ball across for Iglesias to slide in and tap home to finally take advantage of the extra man. The red card really came back to haunt them after Costa fired a shot off the post and Iglesias was there to fire in the rebound. Deportivo really put the game away when Costa broke free down the left wing and sent a low cross in for Aquino to tap in from in front of goal.

Dzeko was shown a straight red in the 24th minute after he took out Guardado's legs from behind after passing off the ball. Just before the end of the half, Guardado lined up a free kick from 38 yards out and hit it low around the left side of the wall and saw it take a bounce before going into the bottom left corner. Iglesias passed the ball off from the top of the box to Aquino free on the right side of the goal and he was able to trap it and then line up his shot to place it inside the far post. Guardado played the ball to Iglesias outside of the box and then made a run into the middle of the box to get it back from him to fire it into the top right corner.

Witsel took advantage of poor marking and played Rondon up the middle for the easy goal on the near post.

Juan Dominguez played the ball to De Tomas just past midfield and he went on a run up the middle to slot it between the keeper's legs and into the net. Luisinho got the ball on the overlap and went through on the left side of the goal before getting pulled down from behind letting De Tomas convert the penalty easily to extend the lead. Hulk pulled down a cross on the left side of the box and picked out Garcia in the middle for the first time strike into the top right but it came too late and Deportivo advanced on away goals.

Aquino attacked the right side of the box and faked a shot before cutting the ball inside and firing a left footed shot inside the far post. Perez pulled one back late after a corner was deflected around a few times and fell to him to power into the top right corner.

Javier Aquino was in impressive form this month tallying 4 goals from his spot on the right side of the field. He also showed off his passing ability connecting on several crosses and being part of many dangerous build up plays.

Manager Comments

League Form - The unbeaten run improves to 18 straight as we seemingly can't be stopped. This month saw us dominate two great teams in Barcelona and Atletico, conceding only 1 goal combined in the process. How long can this run continue? With Real Madrid coming up next month and us pulling within 1 point of their lead, this is a great time to be in this form.

Europa League - After a disappointing home loss in the first leg, we were able to come back and secure our place in the round of 16 with a great performance in the second leg. It was nearly a repeat of our loss to Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey, but I am glad that we were able to pull it out and move on. We face Manchester United next, and this will surely be one of our greatest challenges taking on a team that is typically a perennial Champions League contender.

Guardado Down Again - Andres Guardado was hurt again this month, this time for 3 weeks. This made it difficult going into the second leg of the Europa League match up without our best player, but we were able to push on. Pedro Reyes impressed in his given opportunity taking over in the midfield after being promoted to the senior team. His future with the club looks like it could be very bright if he builds off of his game winner against Levante.

What a way to start the month scoring 3 against Barca and Atletico! What a free kick by Guardado too. What a dramatic end to the 2nd leg against Zenit after doing so well to overcome a 1st leg loss. 1 point behind Real now and they are definitely catchable. The game against them next month will be tense!

This game was very exciting and it had bad defending and very good finishing spicing it up. Salomon Kalou opened the scoreline in the last minute of the first half with a near post header but only two minutes later the ex-Hertha winger Roy Beerens curled a shot from outside the box to the top left corner. Then he celebrated like a bi*ch.

A couple minutes after the hour mark Kalou got a brace from a counter attack. Once again the lead didn't last long as Tony Jantschke got to a rebounded shot to equalise. Under ten minutes later Oscar Wendt curled in from a free kick which should've been saved by Thomas Kraft. The game wasn't over yet as Baba ran through the whole attacking third and shot the ball into the top left corner to equalise this thriller of a game.

After beating 1860's big brother Bayern in the quarter final Hertha didn't have that tough of a job beating the other side from Munich. The second team scored before the half an hour mark with Josip Drmic's well-positioned shot from a counter attack. In the beginning of the second half 1860's Rodri scored a near-post header to equalise the game. The game was even for half an hour but then Josip Drmic's pass found Änis Ben-Hatira in the box and the winger shot it into the top net to secure Hertha's place in the final where they'll face Bayer Leverkusen.

First Bayern in the quarter finals of the DFB Pokal, then 1860 München in the semi's and now Bayern in the league. Just beating Bayern wasn't enough for Hertha as they went ahead to destroy the giants. Salomon Kalou, who has really looking to get closer to the record of 41 league goals in a season, netted a hattrick to bring his total tally up to 38. He scored the first of the night after stealing the ball from David Alaba near the sideline. Twenty minutes later he got a brace from Atsuto Uchida's pin point cross. Ten minutes after that Hertha's corner was cleared poorly and the ball fell to Fabian Lustenberger. The captain took a few steps and took a shot from outside the box that took a slight deflection and bounced to the back of the net. Five minutes before the end of the game Timo Werner ran down the left flank, got into the box and played a pass to Salomon Kalou in the middle who just tapped the ball into the net. With this win Hertha BSC secured the league title!

FC Nürnberg

Last league game of the season and the goal situation was like this: Gerd Müller's record for most league goals in a season was 40, a record from the 70s that no one had broken. Salomon Kalou had 38 league goals and he needed to score three to break the record. It was clear that Hertha were going to feed him the ball as much as they could but already relegated Nürnberg still had a chance of at least a draw. And so the game began.

In the 20th minute Valentin Stocker started a counter attack and played a through ball to Salomon Kalou. The Ivorian got into the box and curled the ball past Nürnberg's keeper. One down. Twenty minutes later Andre Hahn crossed the ball into the box and Kalou got his brace with a good header. The record was evened. Only six minutes later Andre Hahn was played through down the wing again. The winger crossed the ball in towards Salomon Kalou who jumped in the air like a kangaroo... and he headed the ball into the top corner! He scored his 41st league goal of the season and broke Gerd Müller's forty years old record! Screw Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic, Kalou is the new star! The new record-holder didn't stop there and he went ahead to score one more in the 58th minute after cutting in from the left side of the box. Even that wasn't enough as he scored his 43rd goal from the penalty spot. Nürnberg's Koch managed to get a consolation goal in stoppage time from a rebound but that didn't matter. Kalou had broken the record and Hertha got to lift the trophy! Hertha had won the Bundesliga title! Hertha BSC Berlin Sind die Bundesliga Meister!

Hertha BSC - Bayer Leverkusen

The Deutscher Fussball-Bund Pokal, or just the German Football Association Cup, is the biggest cup competition of the country. This year's finalists were Hertha BSC Berlin and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Hertha had just won the league title. They were looking to win the domestic double in front of their fans at the "neutral" Olympiastadion. the other finalist Leverkusen finished second in the league with 12 points separating them from the Berliners. Hertha's attacking force was in top form with Salomon Kalou scoring five goals two weeks ago and with Valentin Stocker getting the most assists in the league but Leverkusen also had some skillful players like Hakan Calhanoglu and Karim Bellarabi. Both teams still remembered Hertha's 3-0 win a few months ago but in football everything can happen.

And the game started. Hertha tried building up an attack by passing the ball around their attacking third but Bayer Leverkusen defended really well. Every time Valentin Stocker or Salomon Kalou got the ball there were three red-shirts surrounding them. After 12 minutes of passing the ball around Karim Bellarabi ran down the right wing. He passed the ball to Lars Bender in the middle who turned around and played a pass to Kramer. Kramer saw that Max Kruse was free at the left edge of the box and he played the ball to him. The German striker then shot the ball at the near post and somehow the ball found it's way through and Leverkusen were in the lead!

Hertha then tried to take control of the game and equalise but it was almost impossible to get through Leverkusen's strong and compact defence and midfield. The time was running down and Hertha were looking helpless. They did everything they could but at the end they failed to register a single shot on target and Bayer Leverkusen won the cup in a very disappointing performance from both teams.

Costa had the first chance of the game, hitting the bar with his header early on. Fabregas gave Chelsea the lead, firing in after a good one-two with Costa after winning the ball. Courtois made a good save to deny Sturridge soon after and not much happened till half time. Then Mario did it again. Another stunner. 40 yards out it space, he hits it and it curls into the top corner beyond Courtois, an onlooker at the perfect shot. Sturridge made it 2, running onto Markovic's through ball and placing in at the near post before Mignolet made a good save to deny Costa. Chelsea grabbed a deserved equaliser late on, Ramires smashing into the top corner from 10 yards.

Moses had the first chance of the game for Stoke, heading over the bar with a looping header. Begovic was soon called into action to deny Coutinho calm effort from the edge of the box before Sakho cleared off the line with a sliding tackle. Sturridge missed an absolute sitter, putting wide from 6 yards with the goal gaping but he made up for it with his belting Van Basten-esque volley into the top corner. Shawcross "equalised" when his effort from a corner was blocked on the line by Moreno but it was given as a goal. The goal line technology even showed it as a no-goal but gave the decision as a goal. I sent the screenshot to Simp and Chico so they can vouch for me. Substitute Gerrard gave us the lead in his final cup final, firing into the far corner not long after Moses hit the post. Arnautovic equalised with a header from a long ball in. However, we got the winner in the last minute, Lallana being brought down in the box and out captain, Steven Gerrard, stepped up to convert the penalty.

Palace had the majority of the possession but Speroni was the only keeper forced into a save, diving to his left to save Gerrard's half volley from outside the box. Williams put wide from the edge of the box for Palace and late on, skied the ball over the bar after being played through.

Stoke - Liverpool

We went out in this match, knowing a win would be enough. A draw meant the game between City & Southampton would have to go our way, as with a loss. The match started out dull, Stoke playing physically but we matched them with the power and Henderson sat in front of Sakho and Skrtel. We had the first chance of the game when Coutinho struck from just inside the box but Begovic reached it. Sturridge then forced the Bosnian international into another good save. Into the second half we went and Kane won a corner. It was played to the side of the D to Sterling who let fly, striking the post with a ferocious effort. The ball dropped in the box and Lallana fired in with an acrobatic volley to give us the lead! Coutinho made it 2 soon after, the ball being played through and he cut back before firing into the top corner. Ireland hit the bar for Stoke in their only real chance and Gerrard came on for Lallana to lift the trophy in his final season for Liverpool.

May Headlines

English Competitions

So Liverpool emerge victorious from the long, hard slog called the Barclay's Premier League season. The boys in red caught Manchester City and left their sky blue rivals 1 point behind, agonisingly close for the Blue Moon and their supporters who were left in tears at how they threw it away. This time, they let it slip. Arsenal meanwhile casually strolled into 3rd and the Champions League Group Stages, never looking like challenging for the title but never looking like dropping into the battle for 4th. Chelsea won the battle for 4th, the Pensioners coming out victorious finishing just ahead of Manchester United who will go 2 seasons in a row without the top level of European football. Spurs fought to the very end but just missed out in the end, despite having the 3rd least losses in the league behind Liverpool (1) and Manchester City (2). Stoke clawed their way into Europe in 7th, keeping Everton at bay. At the other end there were no great escapes, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Hull managing to keep Crystal Palace at bay.

European Competitions

The Champions League culminated in Spanish giant Real Madrid winning their 11th trophy and their 2nd in a row, despite their poor group stage campaign. The beat Chelsea in the final 2-1 after the English side overcame Barca in the semi finals. In the Europa League, Manchester City overcame PSG in what was called El Ca$hico, beating the French side 2-1 in the final.

For the other English teams, Arsenal were knocked out in the Round of 16 in the Champions League and Liverpool were knocked out in the quarter finals. In the Europa League, Everton reached the last 16 while Hull and Spurs were knocked out in the first knockout round.

Congrats on the treble! What a way to come from behind City on the final stretch and nick the title. Also very dramatic FA Cup Final with Gerrard getting the winner from the spot in the last minute. Sturridge and Mignolet looks like they had important seasons. Not a bad budget for the new season either!

We started this game in a 4-2-3-1 with Taylor the lone striker. He did well getting a brace after 30 minutes. The first was a tap in from a pull back and the second was from the spot. Harrison had gotten one for Cheltenham in between them. In form Marquis scored his 8th in all competitions with only Cheltenham's second shot on target. We had switched to a 4-4-1-1 in the second half to try it out and see how it worked. Taylor and Wallace were then replaced by Yesil and Holmes with the latter going into the free roaming CAM role. This was the combination that earned us a place in the 3rd round as Yesil came deep and spotted Holmes' run in between the centre halves. Holmes kept his composure and slotted over Carson. Maybe we will use the 4-4-1-1 for the next few games with possibly the CAM converted to CF as Yesil can also play there.

The second was off a pullback from Wallace after he had beaten two defenders. We really should have kept a clean sheet because Benson scored with their only shot on target. East had been so close to blocking it too with it going through his legs.

Barcham headed in a Wallace corner to level it and then a third consecutive brace for Ryan Taylor followed. The first of which was created by Bigirimana. His first time ball set Wallace in behind the left back and he slid it across to Taylor for a tap in. The second came 4 minutes before halftime. Barcham swung the ball in from the left picking out Taylor at the back post where he headed it in back over the keeper. I decided to try a 4-4-1-1 with a CF (Yesil) for the second half. It didn't work too well to be honest. We only got one chance and that was a break away by Wallace that was saved by Jalal. The trio of Wallace, Taylor and Barcham all played extremely well.

A lot of players were rested for this game with Ryan Bird and Nigel Atangana getting their first starts. We had the better chances and Storey put one away on 34 minutes. Bird played it into him on the 6 yard box and he hit it first time. The deflection it took wrong footed the keeper and it bounced in. At halftime Browning had to go off with a sprained knee. Wynter came on as his replacement but then he had to go off with a sprained ankle later on. This meant that right back Danny East had to play at centre half for the final 20 minutes and right midfielder Jed Wallace at right back. Before that we had gotten our second goal. The ball rebounded off Bolger and into the net after the keeper saved Bird's effort.

We had a real test in London, Premier League side Queens Park Rangers. The R's dominated the first half with 2 chances each for Mutch and Vargas. What turned out to be the deciding goal came from Charlie Austin on 26 minutes. A long ball over the top was given for the Englishman to chase. Which he did outpacing Robinson and Webster. Moreira was too slow off his line meaning Austin had a fairly standard finish. Taylor finally got us a few chances but he fired them both off target. Yesil got us a shot on target around the 86th minute and he injured himself in the process. Danny Simpson gave away a free 21 yards out which Shorey stepped up to take. It literally went just centimetres wide of the post. That goal would have earned us a replay. We actually dominated the ball but couldn't create many chances.

Miles Storey came in from the injured Samed Yesil and boy did he have a terrific game. He was in his element making runs onto Taylor's through balls and causing havoc with his pace. One bad piece of defending allowed Northampton a goal early on. Wallace and Rodríguez failed to clear the ball on the right and Hackett took possession on the football. He played it into Richards who turned Whatmough and then finished it well, in fairness, from a tight angle. Wallace equalized close to halftime. He took on Horwood down the right side of the box, then turned inside him making room for a shot that he put past Duke. Storey shortly followed by Wallace forced good saves from Duke who was keeping Northampton in the game. Storey soon sent another shot just wide before he won the game with 5 minutes left. Taylor played him down the right channel where he faked a shot getting by Collins giving him enough room for a tidy finish into the bottom left corner.

John Stones gets his second yellow after a clumsy foul just outside the box gives him a fair sending off. Jason Banton and Reise Allassani stand over the ball, ready to take the free-kick. Allassani rolls the ball into the path of Jason Banton who smashes it past the wall and a deflection fools the keeper into going the wrong way and Exeter have their lead.

Liam Sercombe plays a one-two with Saiz Alonso froma corner on the right. This allows Sercombe to get into the box and deliver a low, zipping ball to the back post where López Ruano slides in and pokes it home.

Liam Sercombe finishes the game off as a bad pass is intercepted and allows him to skip into the penalty area and curl the ball around the keeper and into the far right corner.

The attacking display by both teams has just been appalling and the first real chance of the match falls to Reece Brown after Jason Banton gets tackled on the right. Brown skips into the middle, dodging challenges as he goes by, and then smashes it past Jack Butland with his weaker foot.

Bee is surely happy that he’s now had three clean sheets in a row and on top of that, this win brings Exeter City back into third in the table!

Our Best Performer: Reece Brown (It was such a poor game that Brown got the man of the match and he came on in the sixty-second minute...)

LIV – Iago Aspas (29’)

Lucas Leiva cuts the ball back to Iago Aspas on the edge of the penalty area who then shoots first time. Mabil is just about to save the shot until Ryan Inniss sticks out his leg and puts it into the opposite corner of the goal.

LIV –Henderson (51’)

Iago Aspas holds the ball up on the edge of the penalty area before bursting in and having a shot. It’s saved by the keeper but the rebound falls straight to Jordan Henderson who easily guides the ball across the line.

EXE – Appiah (52’)

In Appiah’s first game back, he scores! Exeter City start the game off again and Saiz Alonso sprints dangerously at the Liverpool defence. He has a dummy shot to get away from his marker, Joe Allen, and then runs into the left corner of the penalty area where he shoots. Martin Škrtel gets his frame in the way to block the shot but Appiah sprints up to the ball and places it into the bottom right corner.

EXE – Appiah (53’)

Two goals in two minutes for Appiah as a ball over the top is intercepted by Ryan Inniss and Sercombe feeds the ball to Appiah who can break quickly up the field. He gets past Martin Škrtel and sprints into the box where he neatly finishes past Simon Mignolet and into the bottom right corner of the net. Exeter have their equaliser!

EXE – Gomez (RED) (60’)

Exeter City press high up the pitch and win a corner. The delivery is cleared away to Daniel Sturridge who manages to poke the ball away from his feet before a clumsy challenge from Gomez makes him hit the deck. Gomez already had a yellow card from another mistimed challenge in the thirty-second minute so the ref shows him another yellow and he’s off.

LIV –Assaidi (68’)

Daniel Sturridge gets enough space on the left wing to cross the ball into Oussama Assaidi who somehow manages to out-jump the six foot three Acre Jr. and head the ball past the keeper at his near post.

EXE –Appiah (79’)

Reece Brown gives the ball to Appiah deep inside their own half and he sprints all the way to the half-way line before playing a one-two with Inters Konate and he then finds himself through on goal. He gets into the box and then smashes the ball into the top right-hand corner of the net. Exeter City have once again equalised through their hat-trick hero, Kwabena Appiah!

He might be at close range, but this shows how precise he can really be.

Oussama Assaidi chips the ball over the defence and to the on-side Jordan Herderson who chests the ball down before slotting it under Glen Mabil and across the line for the winner.

Reise Allassani sprints down the left before cutting into the box which allows him to neatly place the ball into the bottom of the far right corner.

- Evan Davies is a left-back who’s left-footed and stands at 6’1. His interceptions and his sliding tackles seem to be what his is most skilled at.

Q: Glen Mabil recently announced that he does not want to be a part of the team anymore. He says, and I quote, that ‘He wasn’t that keen on me.’ Is this true?

A: Absolutely not. I actually cannot understand that statement. I treat all of my players equally and I’m keen on everyone within the team.

Q: Is there any word on where Glen Mabil will go?

A: No, I’m not interested in any rumours. Glen is still an important part of the team and we will continue to start him.

Manager’s Thoughts:

Firstly, the words of Glen Mabil have really taken a blow to everyone in the team. He grew up in the youth squad which lead to many thinking that he would stay at the club far into the future. His words seem to have an air of frustration which is very surprising because he never said a word about feeling unsettled at all. If he had actually said something in the few years I’ve coached him I might have actually tried to help him but he kept quiet throughout the seasons that he’s had here. I genuinely thought that he’d be my number one goalkeeper for at least another three years. (The end of his contract)

Getting bumped up to fifth is an exciting position to be in at this time of the season. We’re up there with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

It’s Kwabena Appiah once again. He’s been doing so well and this shows when he scores a hat-trick in his first game back from injury. I’d also like to give credit Reise Allassani. He’s got an amazing ability to grab the collar of a game and take total control over it. He’s had quite a few games now where he’s scored all of our goals and gets us the three points.

Ryan Taylor's such a beast! Six goals in a month is extremely laudable, topped with two assists which gives it a great 'cherry on top'.

October looks like such an easy month, not one of them ever cause many problems but i beg of you: Don't get complacent!

You'll be in league one before you know it!

Yeah Taylor has been massive for me. He is strong, good in the air and fairly quick. Everything you want! Maybe a bit better finishing but it's alright for League 1 and 2. Definitely not the hardest month and don't worry I won't get complacent! Hopefully I can get to the Prem with this career since I only got to the Championship with Wycombe in '14.

I started the new season, made my signings, wasn't satisfied and restarted the window, over, and over again. I'm struggling to make signings! I want to stick to Liverpool's policy over their wage structure so that writes off the likes of Aguero, Suarez, Boateng. I can basically sign world class players that aren't massive. So players no higher that 85/86 really. Any recommendations? I'm also looking for centre back depth, goalkeeping depth and centre mid depth. The only signing I made that I like was backup for Mignolet, Jan Oblak. Any help?

Conclusion
It hurts to say it, but it looks like this is Miguel Flaño's last season with the First Team. Despite keeping consistent form the game has been harsh to him and he has been decreasing at least 1 overall point per season. At the start of this career mode he was my best player with 75 OVR. Based on current overall he should be my 4th choice centre back since both of my B-Team CBs are rated higher than he is. I really would not want to have to sell him, so I hope that he thinks about retirement next season. Next season Sergi Gomez will be joining us and he'll have a chance to take Flaño's starting spot. However, he'll have to fight it out with Ignasi Miquel who has developed really well since I signed him in my first season and he's been playing really good with the B-Team. As for Pedro Bigas, he has really picked it up lately but I don't think Osasuna is the place for him. I may transfer list him in the summer.

So that's the squad. At the end of the season I will post it again, but with individual reviews and goals/assists.

Yeah I definitely think we have over achieved so far this season. I just hope that we can still manage to pick up a couple of wins here and there along with a couple of draws to stay midtable and at the very least avoid relegation.



Tex, Chico: I played one match with the Come Short tactic on my RM Javi Álamo with Zaragoza earlier. He got on the ball an awful lot more than my other winger. I definitely think that instruction is best suited for a technical, ball playing winger much like Torres for you Chico. Will try some more games with it soon.

Hmmm interesting. What other instruction do you have on Alamo? I've just added the "cut inside" instruction to Torres and it's been working out really well paired with his "free roam" instruction. He's not a fast player, but he still manages to always have the advantage during his runs down the wing.

An impressive month! You had an excellent two legs up against Ajax in the Europa League where you managed to hold out in the first leg to easily breeze through the second round with a two-nil win. Davilla seemed to be your most important goalscorer and he even clocked two in two minutes against Cardoba to get the three points. Barcalona are quite far ahead now but I’m glad that you’re in a solid second place in the league!

Thanks! I was worried for the return leg but the 4-1-4-1 really held Ajax well. Davila has been great! I'm considering using him as striker but I'm trying to be patient with Kodro since he had an amazing start to this season. As for the league table, winning the league in barely my 3rd season is not what I had in mind at all, but I'm not going to give up points on purpose either. I'm fine with 2nd since I'm not shooting for the title, but you know I'll still celebrate it if I do win it!

You're right, my academy is packed. However a lot of those players are just fillers to try and make sure my top prospects make it to May. I have 3 scouts but I'm currently only using my 5 star one. I don't want to have too many superstars in there so whenever I get the money I'll hire a 4 star scout and use him as my primary scout instead of the 5 star.
