FIFA 15 - PS3 - Season 1

MOTM: Federico Marchetti (7.2)

Cesena started the game extremely well, dominating the first half. If their shooting boots had been on we would have been behind. Cavanda had our best chance of the first 45 minutes, dribbling in from the right before shooting wildly as he panicked. We got off on the right foot in the second half with Keita scoring 10 minutes in. Onazi won the header and then the next tackle to play the ball to Keita. The Senegalese man was tackled and he hit the deck but when he got back up he showed determination and won it. This left him through on goal and he made no mistake scoring his 6th of the season. He could have had a second on 84 minutes but Leali saved his shot well. Cesena were pushing forward looking for an equalizer and we broke on the counter. Anderson played it up to Keita and he got around his man but Leali was there to stop him from getting a brace. A solid performance, with youngsters Aké and Rugani in the defence and other rotations as well. We move to 4th, level on points with Inter and only 2 behind Napoli in 3rd with a game in hand.

MOTM: Marco Parolo (8.1)

A tough first half with the complete opposite of a second half. Antonelli capitalised on a Basta error 22 minutes in to put Genoa ahead. Perin's free kick from the back sailed our the Serbian's head and the Genoa winger made no mistake. Felipe Anderson got us level. He hit Parolo's ball through first time across Perin with his left foot. The Brazilian had made a great run behind the defence to provide Parolo with a target. 5 minutes later and it was 2-1. Klose's lovely feet created space in behind Marchese for Onazi to run into. Klose played it past Marchese and Onazi finished first time under Perin. The Genoa keeper then had a massive blunder, getting caught on the ball by Klose who only had to tap it into the open goal.

Lazio 0-1 Milan
Poli 65'

MOTM: Federico Marchetti (8.7)

Milan came out of the blocks fast, dominating the opening half. Federico Marchetti was the only reason we stayed in it. Both keepers were in form today, making crucial saves and it took a real piece of magic to break the deadlock. Montolivo scooped the ball up over the defence picking out Poli's run and the Italian volleyed it wonderfully past the diving Marchetti. If you are going to lose, at least lose to a fantastic goal. Biglia had two very good chances to level it up late but Lopez was equal to them both.

MOTM: Brayan Perea (7.5)

With a short turn around from the Milan game everyone but Marchetti was rotated. Perea got a start up front and impressed but his finishing touch was lacking. The young Colombian had two extremely good chances amongst a host of others. Nico Lopez opened the scoring for the home side, combining with his strike partner, Muriel to unlock our defence for a first time strike past Marchetti. Onazi leveled less than 10 minutes later, heading in Anderson's corner from the edge of the 6 yard box. Perea missed a massive chance in the 88th minute, dispossessing Udinese captain Domizzi on the edge of his own box but somehow he shot wide from 12 yards. Luckily the same man tackled Heurtaux on the halfway line, ran through and this time gave it across to the in rushing Djordjevic for an easy, but crucial, tap in. Brayan Perea, despite his missed chances, had a hell of a game and stood up with it mattered.

MOTM: Paulo Dybala (7.3)

Stefan Radu's loose touch when taking down a Palermo corner lead to Dybala sliding the ball into an empty net with Marchetti at the front post for the opener only 12 minutes in. On the next attack however Klose equalized hitting the ball back across Ujkani from Candreva's low cross. Disaster struck 7 minutes from time when Belotti dribbled through the defence too easily before grabbing the winner for Palermo. The game took another twist when we were thrown a lifeline with Bamba taking down Keita in the box. But Candreva couldn't convert and fans could only look on hopelessly as Ujkani saved the penalty and the 3 points for his team. This can only be described as a bitter end to the month.

The only thing that annoys me with the youth academy this year is the fact that whenever I send my scouts out, they bring reports of players whom are for instance 149 cm tall. Why would I want a centerback who is that small? Or a goalkeeper who is just 170 cm tall? Weird.

Are the small players 15? They could grow when they turn 16 if they are. But if they are that small when they are 16/17 well then that sucks a bit.

15 (and maybe 16) year olds grow in height before they turn either 16 or seventeen. I was watching some FIFA 16 videos and was like "WHAT!?" when they were coming out at like 5'4" but then realised that they grow after a certain age :P

Do you know if players come in at 4' and don't grow at all? Be interesting to see if they get promoted at 4' and see how they are to use.

That'd be a major bug if that happened! You just end up with a team full of players who are the size of ten year olds (probably even shorter :P ). They'd probably be able to run through the legs of Peter Crouch!

I seriously doubt you'll get any 4' players although EA can surprise you!

Managers Thoughts:
It is early days but we have had a decent start to the season. We beat Watford and Crystal Palace, two teams we should be getting points from, but its still good. Vardy has been great so far, scroign goals early on in games. We let our guard down and couldn't beat Norwich, which was a disapointment, but we have time to get things back under control.

There were quite a lot of movements in the transfer window, with players leaving the club but joining as well. We managed to strengthen in all areas of the team which is great. Kante wasn't a player we originally wanted to sell but we had a big offer for him, tried to go a bit higher and Palace went for it. He wasn't that great for us last season so I didn't feel too bad about the transfer. Now to see if our added firepower will pay off.

Thierry Ambrose

BOUGHT FROM MANCHESTER CITY FOR €3.1 Million

Now, I was looking for a stand-in behind Locadia. I tried my other strikers and they simply can’t fill the boots of a back-up striker. Ambrose popped up on my radar, and City didn’t want much for him. He’s just 19 years old, and has bags of potential (82). He’s a fast striker who can play as a winger as well. I’m sure that he’ll reach a decent level and do just fine as my second striker.

This is proving to be a tight title race this year with just 9 points separating 7th to 1st so it could be anyone's this year. We are top of the league as it stands though even after back to back defeats to high flyers Mainz and Dortmund, 2 title rivals. The 2-0 victory over Bayern could prove to be key in the title race though with 3 points separating both of us and i'm sure the return fixture is going to be a cracker. We have a good balance of scoring goals and keeping them out again which is pleasing and we currently hold the joint best defensive record alongside, Bayern although they have scored more goals than us. VfB Stuggart find themselves in a bit of a releagation battle this year alongside Hannover who were lucky to stay up last year. A team which is surprisingly strggling this season is Eint.Frankfurt who are normally challenging for the top 6 but this year they are fighting to stay up. It is close at the top and the bottom this season.

We made it into the knockouts of the Champions League in quite comfortable fashion in the end after finishing in 2nd place, losing only 2 games. It was quite a large margin from 2nd to 3rd with 6 points seperating us from PSG which is a credit to how well we have adapated to Europe's elite competition. Things do not get any easier for us now though with a Round of 16 tie against Manchester United. Should we get through this round I will be interested to see how far we can go as looking at the teams left, other than Barca and Real everyone seems beatable. It will be a challenge juggling the Bundesliga with Champions League, especially as we have a chance of winning both but we will give it our best shot.

My Thought's
I'm dissapointed that we went out of the Deutscher Pokal so early but if it helps us in the long run to win the Bundesliga then I'm sure nobody will be complaining come the end of the season. We set out to be competitive in all competitions but this just wasn't our game in the end with Mainz coming out victorious. It was a game which had very few chances but they went through and we moved on. We experienced back to back defeats for the first time in my time at Bremen again, to Mainz and Dortmund both teams who are title rivals so it was disappointing to not get anything from those games. We deserved to beat Dortmund we had more shots and possession but somehow lost 2-0 with their keeper the hero for them which seems to be a regular occurrence whenever we face Dortmund. We seemed to have bounced back now after a 2-1 victory over Augsburg and now we need to get back to our old ways and put this blip behind us.

I am dissapointed to say the Zlatok Junuzovic has decided to join Bor.Dortmund once his contract expires at the end of the season. There was an offer on the table which we felt was fair but the player decided it wasn't enough and has decided to move on elsewhere at the end of the season. For this reason I felt it was within the clubs best interests to remove the player from the 25 man squad in order for me to use players who have a long term future for this club and want to play for our brilliant fans. We did manage to bring in 2 players in the window though Nicolai Laursen from PSV for £1,500,000 and Lukas Boeder from Bayer 04 for £300,000. For players have bright futures and we managed to get them for next to nothing which was even better. Nicolai Laursen looks like a young Viktor Fischer, he has the ability to beat players and score goals and if he is half the player then we have a huge talent on our hands.

My youth player with the highest potential after 1 youth academy report (75-92) is 5'2" and already 16 years old. FML. He's a left winger so I guess height shouldn't be much of an issue, but still that kids gonna get bullied every game by his marker! I imagine it will also look really funny watching a 5'2" player sprint down the wing [emoji23]

Two reports from each and I only have 2 players with potential at 70+ with a lot of really low players who's max potential was around 75 or lower. Two scouts were looking for any players, but one was for playmakers and there wasn't much difference in their reports, though one came back with higher avg potential but only one at 90+ max POT. I will say that my scouts were in England, Scotland, and Sweden so perhaps that had something to do with the low ratings.

Ah well then I was probably just on a rare lucky run! In the past I've had some really good youth players come from England and Scotland so you shouldn't be struggling too much there in the long run!

I usually don't scout for playmakers. Never find anything good (talking about FIFA 14 and 15, no experience with 16 yet). If I'm looking for a CAM I've found it better to scout for technically gifted players. Unless you're looking for a CDM, in which case playmaker would probably be a good fit because I've found CDMs from that report before, although they weren't very good right out of the academy despite their overall.

Yeah, in past games I've scouted England and gotten high potential players there. Though I feel like the longer you set a scout to a country the longer it takes to find high POT players. In my experience, sending a scout for 3 months practically guarantees at least 1 high POT player within the first report. If you send a scout for 6 months or longer and most of the players will have lower potentials.

Also, Just got the third report from my scout looking for playmakers and he did bring back a CDM with high potential, so you're definitely right about that. I'll send a scout looking for technically gifted players later. I usually don't select a type of player, so I never noticed that.

Question, will searching for physically strong players get me a target forward or just centerbacks?

He's a left winger so I guess height shouldn't be much of an issue, but still that kids gonna get bullied every game by his marker! Hahaha that's so unusual! If you have enough time, I'd love to see a picture of him out on the pitch standing next to someone much taller than he is!
