Slow Paced Game Speed
Newest Slider Version Set with Minor Adjustments and Even Settings for both CPU and User
Members of the community, in the past ten days I have given up on manipulating sliders for Legendary difficulty at the Default pace configuration. The settings were 'working' for a period, beginning at the end of FIFA 23 through Title Update 4 this year. Now, the game mode has become uncontrollable in my opinion; far more difficult than Ultimate, equivalent CPU tactics, attacks, and defense, regardless of the competition (Manchester City, EFL 2, Bundesliga 3, etc.), constant high-press inside my own eighteen-yard box; fouling or taking the ball off my goalkeeper, central back, or full-back, park-the-bus defense with five or six defenders inline with the remaining players within three yards of the box, as soon as the ball crosses the midpoint line.
Switching to Ultimate difficulty with Slow pace has completely changed everything. The CPU attack is varied and conforms to the designated tactics for the squad, more players on the user team are following sheet instructions, 'cheat' possession by the CPU, especially alongside the eighteen-yard box is reduced, and realistic player interactions are occurring; ability for the user to defend properly, standing tackles work the first time, and player attributes are proportional (fast wingers, central attacking midfielders, and strikers outpace slower defenders, even enlarging the gap as they progress down the pitch). For anyone disheartened by the play on Legendary setting, either Default or Slow paced, may consider switching to Ultimate difficulty.
I have a concern that perhaps could be addressed by anyone on the development team or community user.
The one 'game breaking' element, at least with Ultimate difficulty Slow paced, is both the knock on, and semi knock on, where a player punches the ball between two and six yards ahead of them, always leaving a one-on-one scenario with the goalkeeper. After evaluation, this event does not occur with frequency on Default pace, however, the rest of the game play at this difficulty is inferior to Slow paced. Other than this anomaly, the new slider configuration (30 line width and 48 marking) is working well on Ultimate Slow. One caveat, even though this 'cheat' knock on sequence occurs between ten and fifteen times per match, for the most part, it is evenly distributed between CPU and user, each given chances at 'easy' goals, although score lines become exaggerated and repetitive; 4-3, 3-2, etc.
During testing, I have modified the values for speed, run frequency, and marking to no avail. As described in earlier posts, I always adjust the sliders equivalently for both the CPU and user; main reason why I converted to Ultimate difficulty last week, when noticing speed values were both set to 40 for Slow paced Ultimate. If a slider configuration could 'magically' downgrade or mitigate this knock on problem, then the game would be 'perfect', until Wednesday or Thursday when Title Update 6 is propagated from the servers.
