I looked into signing Ozil on a free in my save in 2020. He'd spent 6 seasons with Madrid and the rest with Man Utd. His stats were average at best (2* CA for my team which was a UCL team) but was still demanding $150K+ p/w. Plus, surprisingly enough, he still was unable to speak Spanish.YNWA

His main problem is that he gets really tired and rarely plays a full match. I have him and Toni Kroos subbing in and out for each other all the time.Comment

I bought him at Liverpool in 2018-2019 I think. Cost a lot of money, but was still 3 1/2 or 4 stars CA and puts in great performances. He's a devastating playmaker - easily the best passer on my team.

I paid $54 million for Kroos. He was one of my first big signings in that save.Comment

After four years, I got fired from Gloucester City... Gloucester freaking City. I led them to a playoff appearance in the first year and was seven minutes away from promotion then we conceded two screamers. Ever since the first season we've been on a rapid decline. The previous season ended on a 12 game winless streak and this year we were on an 8 game winless streak, setting the record for most games without a win.Last edited by Rexis; 08-02-2012, 11:30 PM.ST. Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Ran into a rough patch towards the end of Season 3 at Sampdoria, but bounced back in time to win the Coppa Italia (over our closest rivals and stadium-mates Genoa) and our last two matches to finish in 5th. Back to the Europa League next year - this time I have one less qualifying round to get through before the group stage.
Highlights included the CI win obviously, beating Juventus 3 times, and Fabio Borini winning the golden boot with 20 goals. Lowlights were two patches of abysmal performances that ultimately cost us a CL berth.
Atalanta was the surprise team of the season earning a Champions League spot. Inter won the league again, and Milan took the other CL spot.
The focus in the summer will be shoring up our central defense. We scored the third most goals, but were worst amongst the top half of the table in conceding them.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Motherboard blew out on my laptop. I've got 36 minutes of battery left until the computer is completely ****ed (it's old and will in no way be cost-efficient to replace the motherboard). First thing I did? No I didn't save my design portfolio or work externally. Nope, instead I copied my FM save to a flash drive.
EDIT:
Got a new computer. Its about damn time haha. Got myself a new MacBook Pro Retina. **** is bomb. The fuse that allows my computer to charge in my old computer blew out and wouldn't allow my computer to charge or run off of AC power. Oh well. I was planning on getting a new laptop within the next few weeks regardless.Last edited by Tomasperez9; 08-03-2012, 07:54 PM.YNWA

I don't care if it was against a crap team down to 10 men in the league cup. I'll take this result haha.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I guess I've never paid that close attention, so I'm not sure if this is common, but after Kenny Daglish retired, the Liverpool job opening news item said:
With resumes flooding in from would-be head coaches across the county, Liverpool assistant coach Steve Clarke is the most likely candidate for the job. Presumably once the Liverpool board have got rid of the usual 'Football Manager' applications, they can proceed with the view to appointing someone with real-life experience.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
The board has taken it upon themselves to accept a $12.5 million offer for Marco Verratti. I hope they add an option to burst into the Chairman's office and yell for FM13.
Funny thing is it was Leverkusen who made the offer, their job is open, and I've been linked. Tempting, but I will probably just buy one of the many good Italian midfielders out there with the money.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I got the England job last year or so, I had to choose between them or Tunisia, it wasn't a tough decision at all. I lost once in 14 matches with this team, and that was to Russia last match where I lost 4-0. 12 wins and 1 draw in the other 13 matches. Anyways, qualified for the Euros and got a tough draw.
