Totally forgot about composure, that definitely is a biggie. Finishing helps, but without technique, it's going right at the keeper all the time.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
In the summer I've brought in Lucas Ocampos (€49m) from Monaco and Sokratis Papastathopoulos (€16m) from Barcelona. Barcelona was also in the bidding for Ocampos but he wanted to play for me and the Blues instead.
Our attack currently consists of Falcao, Llorente, Cavani, Hazard, Mata, Ocampos, Oscar, Marin and Son Heung-Min.
I finally parted ways with Mikel and Moses. Combined for the two I got around €30m. Parting with Mikel was difficult but I have a 19 year old Italian CM which is a beast and I have De Rossi tutoring him. Plus Ramirez which is one of my most important players believe it or not and De Bruyne.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I started a new unemployed gig, and landed in Germany's 3.Liga; with Munster. Suffice to say, FM is exacting it's revenge on me from my Real Union save. Normally amongst the first things I do is request additional wage funds. This request was rejected, and subsequently the wage budget was reduced by 5,000/week. Since joining 3.Liga I did manage to afford to rebuild the staff, so thankfully I have now a well-rounded coaching staff, but am unable to afford any worthwhile Physio's. I've got two absolutely mediocre ones, so it could be worse. The team has some questionable contracts I've been trying to get rid of, unfortunately it's not really going well for me. The January window is coming up, I'm hoping to get rid of a lot of the deadweight in the wage budget, and replace it with loan players, then typically sign the youth system rejects from Arsenal/United/Chelsea/Barca/Madrid/Bayern, whomever I can. I tried to get a parent club, but the board rejected it. I need to hit a jackpot on a player sale to get this save going, but sadly I don't see that happening until possibly next January, or the next Summer window. Right now, I'm happy with staying clear of relegation, but the team has drawn twice and lost once since I took over, and we've remained in 18th place.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Had a tough relegation battle in my first year with Reading. Brought in Mauro Formica immediately who turned out to be a great signing. Than ended up bringing over Shane Long, Jermaine Pennant, and Kenny Cooper(random I know) in the January window. Shane Long basically saved me from relegation, and Kenny Cooper actually did really well in limited playing time. Got my 2nd season underway and I brought over Andy Carroll on loan and signed Vierinha from Wolfsburg. Scored 16 goals in my first 3 matches(Aston Villa, Blackburn, Birmingham in Cap One Cup) than drew with Liverpool and Newcastle and beat West Ham. Lost in Capital One to Swansea, but ended up beating Chelsea the next week. Now I've lost two in a row to Tottenham and Man City and have lost Shane Long and Carroll to injury.Comment

Just finished my first full season at Southend after a season and a half at Portland. Couldnt take the salary cap issues in the MLS so i resigned mid season(Pretty classy right?). Got laughed at when i applied at the bigger clubs so my only choices were Southend and US U23's lol.
Took the gig at Southend with 25 games left and managed to finish in 7th place in the Npower lg 1. 90% of the roster were all guys under 21, but there was some decent potential. No transfer funds and a low payroll budget forced me to build from within and pick up free transfers. I did however manage to pick up some throw aways from the upper crust and they made a huge difference on the field but put the team in the crapper financially.
2nd season i had hopes of promotion, but we came up just short losing to Sheff Utd in the playoff (2-1 agg). I have to say that season was by far the most stressful season ive had in all my years of playing FM. So many injuries to key players at the worst times, team constantly in the red, and the last 15 games or so being decided by 1 goal with five other teams nipping at our heels. My guys soldiered through though and finished 3rd behind Swansea and Brighton. By the time we got to the playoff we were running on fumes and had 4 key players hurt.
Because of the financial issues i had to sell off or release a lot of my guys with higher salaries just to balance the books, but because so many of my player are young and still have reasonable salaries it didnt hurt us too bad and i was able to some more young talent with the money i freed up. This is my team currently
Definitely hoping for a sucessful promotion push this season.Comment

Added 5.5M from transferring my three best players, and replaced them with Loan players from Dortmund, Bayern and Stuttgart, as well as a few of my own Bosman signings. Still winless though, 6 draws, 1 loss.

NCAAF: Ohio State

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Second season is in the books, went from 20th to 6th by end of the year which should be good for Europa League, however a team from a lower division won Coupe de France.
Yohan Mollo had the most assist on the year again. For the second straight year, Mollo finished 2nd in Ligue 1 player of the year. Jonjo Shelvey won the Young Player of the Year, not bad considering I only had to pay half of his wage to get him on loan.
Kurt Zouma is still good. Progressing nicely, and made France's WC team along with Mollo and Stephane Ruffier. I doubt any of them will play in the 2014 WC but it's cool nonetheless.Comment

Career Update, here's the late season push, I've made it all the way to 10th in the League, I need 9 points from all remaining games to have a shot at promotion(and some other results) I've won 7 of 9 to put me in this position. My last three matches are at SV Stuttgarter Kickers(9th), vs Dortmund II(20th), Offenbach Kickers(3rd).
And HERE. WE. GO. (sorry if I hog the thread, a moderator may feel free to combine all of the posts I'm most likely about to make, either in sheer delight, or crippling dismay)Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
A thrilling 1-0 victory over Stuttgarter K.! Lodewijk scored in the 61st minute on a rebound shot. In bad news, I NEED Wehen to lose their next two fixtures.
EDIT: YES YES YES AACHEN BEAT WEHEN. WE'RE STILL ALIVE
EDIT2: WEHEN LOST AGAIN!! IT'LL COME DOWN TO THE FINAL MATCH!@!!@!@!@!@
Here it is, if I beat Offenbach, I'll finish with 64 points, but I need Wehen or Karlsruhe to lose. My last game is against a team I'm tied with(Offenbach) so I need to win that fixture, and while I don't think I NEED Osnabruck to lose, it would certainly be helpful!Last edited by Suntan Superman; 01-23-2013, 10:27 PM.Support Local Sports
