Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Second season at Fortaleza did not go as planned. The board slashed my payroll but still were expecting a mid-table finish. Instead, we ended up in a relegation scrap. About midway through the season, I settled in at 15th position. Had an eight match run where I played teams in the top 10. Surprisingly, I only lost one of those matches, earning 13 points. Heading into the final five matches, I was six points clear of relegation with three matches against teams in the relegation zone.

        So what happened?

I earn one point in those five matches, losing all three matches to teams in the relegation zone. The two teams that were 17th and 18th became the two hottest teams in the league and each earned 12 points in those matches (both of them beat me when I beat them handedly earlier in the season).

So it's back to Serie C in Brazil. The board didn't fire me but they be ticked. Four of my best players requested transfers because of the drop. I do have some promising youth players in the system, but I'm wondering if I'll be around lol.

EDIT: I kinda wished I had stuck with my 4-3-3 tactic that I've used in all my other saves. But I figured since I was in Brazil, I would use the old Magic Box lol. Going 4-2-2-2 with 2 strikers, 2 trequaristas, and 2 deep-lying playmakers in the DM spots.

EDIT2: And the board slashed my freaking payroll again. I think I'm going to abandon the Brazilian Hero achievement lol

NVM I lied about Zouma not playing in the WC, he started every match for France next to Yanga Mbiwa. Now I'm trying to find a CB for my team and not having much success.

I used basically all of the European Leagues and then the major leagues around the world (with a few lower ones just in case i want to switch it up completely)

Tactics, player pool, etc? That's always how I end up winning games. Since I changed my philosophy from "Finding players to fit my system" to "Finding a system that fits my players" I've found sooooooo much more success.

Also, in career, attempting to move to Viborg from Munster.

Moved from Munster now in 2. Bundesliga to Viborg in the First Division in Denmark. Happy to be home. I'm hoping they haven't sold most of the players I normally use, as I can normally gain promotion with most of the players in house. Here we go!!

Okay, i think i can do that.
How many players do you have on your senior squad? I think I only have like 19 or 20. I imagine I would need 25 or so... depending on versatility?

I normally have two XI's then an extra four or five players. I always make sure players have versatility, unless they are a special talent, it's a two position minimum.

So 26 or 27 senior quality players, I may have some of the younger ones sitting on my B squad/reserve team. As far as tactics go, Always look at their best role, and devise your tactics as such. Right now, my team is fit for a 4-3-3, at Munster I was going with the 4-5-1.

UGH!!!! Season 2 is NOT shaping up the way i had hoped early on. Preseason we looked really good, even beating Fulham 3-0. Won our 1st game against Doncaster 2-0, then got our asses kicked by Huddersfield and Oldham back to back killing my young teams morale in the process. One of my best prospects Alex Grant decided to act like a diva and demanded to be sent to a bigger club so i obliged and Blackburn snatched him up in two days time for 600k. We definitely need the dough so i didnt have too much of a problem letting him go as i knew i could bring in some new talent with that money. Of course the fans turned on me and the board wont let me forget it either even though we needed the funds.

Won our next two games against Exeter and Accrington, shutting both of them out so i figured we were headed in the right direction but we came out and looked scared against Burton Albion losing 3-0. Might need to bring in a vet or two to balance this team out. Too many youngsters and they look terrified at times. Especially when we are considered underdogs. Looks like another stressful season in the making.

Season 2 at Liverpool in the books. 7th place finish (15-15-8). Way, way too many stupid draws, but I felt like we were closer to being a good team this year than in season 1. Suarez went into a goal drought and 1-1 was the score a lot. We did manage to win the Capital One Cup (yay?) for my first trophy of the save. For the first time I can remember in my FM days, I made both of the signings of the season for the Premier League. Sejhad Selihovic (AMC) and Christopher Drazen (AML). Both were under $5 mil and averaged well over 7.0

This year it's Champions League qualification or bust.

In: Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (ST) ($25 mil)
Xherdan Shaqiri (AM R/L) ($20 mil)
Andrea Poli (MC) ($5 mil up front, $30 mil over 36 months)
                              Christian Benitez (ST) (free)
New Italian backup goalie whose name I can't remember (free)

Out: Andy Carroll (ST) ($8.5 mil)
Stewart Downing (AM L/R) ($5.25 mil)
Fabio Borini (ST) ($18.5 mil up front, $2 mil after 10 league goals)
The usual mix of youth and reserve players who will never make it.

At 34 and unable to stay healthy consistently, I will be assigning the captaincy to someone other than Stevie G. I just hope the players don't pitch a fit when I do it.

Stripping Mikkel Rask of his captaincy as soon as I got to Viborg nearly ruined my career. If I hadn't gotten Mikkel to speak up and endorse the new captain, I think just about everyone would've left.
