Sturridge is on Rangers and Bendtner is on Spurs. Your save's world is weird.

Picked up Sturridge on a free after he fell out of favor at Liverpool. He scored 17 goals across all comps in 29 appearances for me.

Arsenal sold Bendtner to PSG for $8M but he never could break into the side. PSG then sold him to Spurs for $6.25M, where he has been a regular for them.

I'm in my 8th season managing AIK (Swedish Allsvenskan) and have been trying to get them to the top of Europe. I've made champions league several times, even making the knockout round once or twice.

This year I drew a group with Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Dinamo; possibly the toughest group I've had so far.

In the opening game against Real Madrid, they opened up to a 2-0 lead, but they also had 5 yellow cards at halftime. They got a red, a few more yellows, and I was able to play very attacking in the 2nd half to get it to 2-2. I beat Dinamo twice, tied Liverpool at home, and went into the last game with Real Madrid needing a tie or a win to advance (and I was playing at the Bernabeu).

My backline (with 2 guys 6'8") and my 3-2-3-2 was able to sit back and counter. I even had a 1-0 lead until the 70th minute when Ronaldo scored off of a beautiful volley. Bad news, I now get Chelsea in the knockout rounds.

So last night I got a message saying that PSG bought a striker from my team for between $1.1m and $2.5m (depending on clauses). I was very confused about this for a few reasons:

1) I don't ever remember this guy being part of my academy
2) He definitely wasn't part of my first team
3) I have a tracking spreadsheet where I keep track of playtime for my players and keep track of my depth chart. He never appeared on this
4) I don't ever remember accepting a transfer offer for him
5) He was actually pretty good and I would have liked the option to keep him or sell him for more later

Do you guys have any clue what happened? I mean, it's very possible I actually did have him in my academy and I accepted a transfer for him, but I feel like I would have remembered doing that. Especially since I was offered between 1 and 2.5m for him.

Have you seen anything like this happen?

Did you have it set so that your head of youth development can sell academy players?
Did PSG simply poach him (and pay you compensation)?
Did the board accept the transfer for you (because they considered the offer too good to turn down)?

I've never had a player poached from me in that manner, so I don't know what the news item would say.

As for the board, the news usually says the board accepted because the offer was too good to turn down.

That's brutal. How far does the board expect you to make it?

So I posted earlier that I drew EPL league leaders Chelsea in the knockout stages of the CL. Chelsea are running away with the EPL and have an amazing team, so it was just about the worst draw I could have gotten. FM didn't want to make my CL title defense easy. I was thinking I needed a big home win in the first leg or I was in trouble. But my strikers decided that finishing chances was surplus to their striking duties and the first leg ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw.

Heading into the away leg, the fans were pessimistic. The media were pessimistic. Mourinho was talking **** about how my playing style was terrible and Chelsea were going to destroy us on the pitch.

And for the first 30 minutes, it looked like they were right. Through 15 minutes of my normal control mentality, my team didn't have a shot. Chelsea were getting chance after chance. So I switched to counter. That didn't work either. After 30 minutes Chelsea led 1-0 and I still didn't have a shot. Knowing I badly needed to generate offense I switched to attack and pushed up my defensive line. Hernandez scored two minutes later to even the score. Chelsea got demoralized, and the Roma goals poured in. Hernandez wound up with a hat-trick, and my team wound up with a huge 4-2 win (5-3 on aggregate). In other words, SHUT THE **** UP MOURINHO!

So, it appears maybe he was poached and I got compensation? The crazy part, is that I didn't even know he was on my team, and I generally pay close attention to this stuff :/

Yeah, from that news item he was definitely poached. That can only with players on youth contracts, so if you had known he was on the team a senior contract would have prevented it.

You can also do this to other clubs as well, so if PSG have any prized youth willing to sign you could get payback.

I may have to do it. I think I deduced what happened. AIK got the new youth players in the fall, and I re-do my depth chart and spreadsheet every January, which is why I didn't know him. I guess I'll re-do depth chart in December now

Too bad too, because FM says he's a similar player to Edison Cavani and already has great attributes.

I steal youth players from Brazil all the time, we'll see if I can do it to PSG.
