I did couple years ago and enjoyed it.

In the game, you can sign any Spanish player under 17 (I believe) and they automatically get the Basque nationality (not 100% sure about this either)

Thing with them is that they get amazing regens so you can easily try the Youth Challenge save with them.

Just checked this thread and this is one of the regen I posted back in 2013.

If any of you guys have a Nintendo Switch, FM18 Touch just came out on that for $39.99. I might buy it to see how it runs. My daughters have one and barely use the damn thing.

Waste of money. Worst FM experience I've ever had.

I went for it, but Niko Kovac got the job instead.

              Some manager list that.

EDIT: Maybe, just maybe, I pulled this off for the rub-ins.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

After the talk, I started a Bilbao save. Our first trip to Camp Nou was....something.

Went with a route one counter attacking 4-5-1 with usual winger Inaki Williams up top as a poacher with his 19 pace and boy did it work early. Also tried to mark Suarez and Messi out of the game. It worked with the more important one, but Luis and lesser Suarez, Denis made it 4-3 with usual Barca things. But suddenly Markel Susaeta scored two nice goals from his right wing position, and Williams completed his hat trick late to seal the big victory.

We crashed out of the Europa League in the final playoff round to Slavia Praha, drew 2-2 at home in the first leg, they scored on the final kick of the game. Then could only manage a 1-1 draw in the return leg at their place. Board expected us to make the damn semifinals, so oops.

Going alright in the league so far.

Been debating for two days now if I should spend 90M on Dybala and have to change tactic to accommodate him. Or bring in two youngsters for 25% of that and keep the same tactic. And I still can't make my damn mind up. This is why I hate playing with big/rich clubs.

I did a save where I loaded the big five and sim'd until interesting jobs opened up. In April Klopp was fired for crashing out of the FA cup, UCL/EL and being in 8th place in the league. So I applied and got it. Its now the end of the season and I have 120M to spend after selling two players. And this is driving me insane.

                      Pay for Dybala, he's ridiculous.

This. Generational talents are few and far between. Dybala is well worth the change of tactic.

Spent only a year at Barca, didn't enjoy it and once again failed to win a league title, finishing second to Real. Old man Messi was trash. Suarez did well, despite suffering a decline in ratings across the board, he managed to bang in 31 goals. I signed Leroy Sane from City and he tore La Liga up, but suffered an injury late in the season during the title push. I then lost the away match to Real and it cost me the title. Because, of course.

I could have stayed on at Barca, but I wasn't feeling it. Then I noticed an opening at Swansea after Bruce Arena retired. He overachieved with them, finishing in 10th and now it's my job to keep Swansea somewhere around mid-table. This will be quite interesting.

Real Madrid just offered a 113M for Robert Firmino.

Here goes another 2 days of thinking it over.

Just finished the 2023/2024 season, my 4th full year at FC Platanias in Greece.

Here's how it shook out, we finished 3rd! Best finish in club history. Olympiacos failed to win the title for the first time since I've been managing in Greece.

Prior to the season starting, I sold Baba Traroe off to England, Burton Albion paid $2.2m for him. I had gotten him 2 seasons before from Sparta Praha, for $150k. More than a $2m profit, I had to take that.

We had a pretty strong year all around. The last 2 seasons, we had finished 4th, and all this year I was battling AEK for the 3rd/4th spot. We beat AEK resoundingly, 4-1, and that launched us on a tear to finish the season and secure 3rd. Although, we met AEK in the Cup Final and they got the last laugh.

I was really hoping to win the Cup Final. Would have been my first trophy as a manager, and also would have qualified us directly for the Europa League group stage. After crashing out this season in the last qualifying round, I really wanted that. The Europa League money from 2 years ago was so nice, was a real bummer to miss out on it this season. I will join the competition in the last round of qualifying next year.

Some recognition for my players. One of my players won the Greek League Player of the Year award, and I have 2 of the top 3 domestic players in the league.

Here's my career history so far.

I feel like I have really gotten Platanias to a point where they're solidified in that "next tier" below Olympiacos, and I think it would take far too long to overtake them, so I may look to move on this summer or next summer, if the opportunity presents itself.

Well I should have won this game, but a classic FM own goal equalizer kept it to a draw. To get any points against my nemesis with this team is still a good feeling, especially considering United now have the likes of Dybala, Eriksen, Mbappe and Franck Kessie - who I had tried to sign in my time at Chelsea but failed.
