Start a new save. Best player on the team gets hurt in first pre-season game. Will be out 10-12 months with damaged crucial ligaments.

This was the best year I think I've ever had in terms of squad rotation. Only one complaint all year. Reus, Kagawa, and Gustavo led the "2nd team" and were superb all year long, only one loss to Esbjerg.

End of the year and the Arsenal job was vacated after a fantastic year and I was listed as a favorite for it. I certainly did nothing to rubbish the links as I normally do, but they went with Patrick Viera instead. Viera is the fourth manager post-Wenger, following Roberto Mancini(1 year, 308 days), Abel Ferreira(354 days), and Paulo Fonseca(1 year, 334 days).

Entering my sixth year with Viborg, and the improvements around the club are finally starting to take shape. We're breaking out transfer fee record with the signing of John Hou Sæter for £900k. A few years earlier we had purchased a 17 year old Mahmut Ates from Furth for £500k, he left this past summer for VfB Stuttgart for £10m+add-ons.

Not sure about everyone else, but there's way too many back passes that end up being own goals in my save. Not just me but for CPU as well.

I haven't seen many own goals at all, but I have seen some really stupid back passes go right into the path of an opposing striker who (more often than not) scores.

I've seen a ton of this also. It seems way too common in lower league saves.

Pretty good season despite our star man being out all season and missing two other key players for half the season.

Yeah I've noticed it too. It hasn't happened a TON, but it's happened at least twice to me where the CB, under no pressure at all, rolls it back to the keeper, who just lets it roll into the net.

After my top goalkeeper went down with an injury, I've now signed Will Jääskeläinen, and for the first time, I've signed a father and a son to the same team (I signed Jussi Jääskeläinen in FM 2013 for Viborg FF) I understand that Jussi was old for a player, but it's still kind of neat to make those signings five years apart.

Second season with Geel in third division of Belgium and we were going to comfortably finish in 10th place. Which is 4 spots off relegation and 6 spots off the playoffs. When I got a wild hair and checked the opens jobs. Saw FC Oss in Netherlands second division open. Applied and got it. They were in the relegation spot with 10 games to go. Came down to the final game of the season.

Was almost a very short job.

And everyone was in the last year of their contract. I let 80% of the team go. I've now spent three days doing the off-season. And after all that we are still projected to be in a relegation battle again this year. Although I feel like we could finish mid table.

EDIT: Just stepped down after going 0-1-15 to start the season. Board wasn't ready to fire me, but I'd lost the dressing room and it wasn't going to get any better. I would have gotten fired. Too big of a jump up.

I probably should've been paying more attention to bonus payouts as a part of transfer deals....because oh boy.

Just won a double by winning the French Cup and Europa League.

Pulled in $8.44M by winning those two competitions.

Thanks to my transfer dealings....I just paid out $9.5M to other teams as part of several deals because I won those two competitions. Plus another $9.05M in squad bonus payouts.

                        HOLY $#!%

                        I'd been better off losing.

I mourinho'd the **** out of this group stage

EDIT: Fun facts about the group stage.

                          Every win was at home.
                          Every loss was away.
PSG allowed 0 goals at home. (5-0,4-0,3-0)
Each draw was either 2-2 or 0-0
If you subtract our 5-0 loss away to PSG, we allowed 5 goals total.
Sporting lost all 3 away games, scoring 2 goals.
In both of Dortmunds away losses they allowed 4 goals.
PSG's 11 points would put them 2nd in every group except ours
Viborg/Sporting CP's 7 points would eliminate them from every group except ours and one other.
Dortmund's 6 points is good for third place in every group except ours and one other.

Anyone ever managed Athletic Bilbao? The only sign Basque players always puts me off.

I've done a couple seasons in a couple versions. You kind of have to be in the mood for a save where you only develop your own guys. There are a few established Basque guys out there, but it's tough to get them to come back. The French goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier is one. You won't be getting Laporte back obviously if you start with the January update. And if you start with the original database all the big teams want him. They have some good players though.

I found the one Bilbao save I did(2014, I believe) to be one of the more fulfilling saves I've done. I hated that I couldn't bring in the players that I wanted, but it really taught me a lot about training and adaptation when I was still the worst player of FM ever.
