Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
It's amazing what you can do....I sell two players for a total of $10.75 million. I've brought in 8 players (7 of them under the age of 24) for $6.5 million. That's what I call working the transfer market. Also, my board hooked me up with Tottenham.
Do I think this year's team is slightly worse than last year's team? Yes, considering that all together, I got rid of 12 of my 25 first team members).
Do I feel this team is set up better for the future in the SPL? Absolutely, especially with my youth facilities and coaches.
Do the fans hate me for selling Lee Wallace? Of course they do, calling it an aberration.Comment

http://www.sigames.com/news/14337/Fo...Update+out+now
Update, with a whole lot of tweaks to the Match Engine means that after finally going back to 13, I'm going to give 14 a run and kick my friend off my FM computer.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well, I've only played two matches with the new patch so far, and even though it's a very small sample size, by the wonder of God I'm no longer giving up goals where my defenders are heading soft ones back to the keeper, only for it to ricochet off his his hands and increase speed and hit the back of the net. Nor are my keepers running out to collect balls, but stopping hastily and letting the ball go past them and giving the opposition an open goal to shoot at.
My possession and passing stats slightly went down, but the mere fact that I'm not giving up goals that aren't even remotely funny is more than enough to recommend the new patch to others.
To answer my earlier question, MLS is completely up to date as of the draft.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Gave it another shot today. Got about 7 matches in with Liverpool. Early feeling is that attacking play is much improved. Seems to be a lot more smooth and natural. And the long shots at stupid times seem to be gone.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
What camera view do some of you use for 14?
Right now I'm on Touchline, but really not sure about it, and so far I just can't seem to pick one that really jumps out.
Is it me or did the latest patch do something with the camera?
I've used touchline before but now it just seems odd.'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Yep, fully sucked back in now. Got a bit less than halfway through a season. The strikers and wingers don't play like idiots anymore. We were able to link up on some beautiful team goals. One goal in particular stood out where Suarez jinked past a defender towards the endline and cut back a perfect pass for a Sturridge tap-in - it was basically exactly what happens in real life. The outside players actually cross or run at defenders when they have the opportunity instead of waiting for the full back to tackle or block it away.
I wish I would have not saved over my original run-through so I could compare stats.
Not sure if anyone has noticed this, though. I'm seeing a bunch of unnaturally high trajectories on corners and free kick crosses into the box. Definitely take that as the only main issue I see over what it was.
Suntan - I know you were having trouble with penalties. Gerrard is 3 for 3 on the season so far.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 03-04-2014, 11:49 AM.Comment

I haven't gone in yet to the set-piece tactics, I'm assuming I could just tell my corner takers to put them in low, and roll with that.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Into my third season with Tottenham; just about into January. Really interested in keeping this save going, so I can see my young players develop, and hopefully win the league!
New White Hart Lane is nearing completion, and will be ready for next season, so that will be interesting!
Eriksen and Lamela are developing into one of the best tandems in the EPL. Lamela in particular; he is becoming a beast. Currently leading the league in goals with 12 (15 in all comps). Eriksen has 6 goals and 12 assists.
Also, I beat Barca 2-0 in a Champions League group game! That was fun, especially since I was expecting to get smoked (which I did when I played them in Barcelona, 4-1)University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Match Engine is much improved, there are still some issues, but not anymore than any other FM game. FM14 is seemingly working now. Christopher Poulsen is now 7/10 on penalties on the year, so at the very least there is that. My biggest issue tactically before is that my wing backs would make horrendous runs. Now, finally my wing backs are making well-timed runs, sure they still make the off-hand mistake, but it's certainly less prevalent. I've gone back to my Viborg save, and all is well right now. We're fighting that defensive battle just like we should be.
I don't think I'll go back to my Sheffield United save, but I may venture outside of Viborg after only a few years instead of after ten years like I normally do. Like I've said, the rest of the game is amazing, so with the match engine doing what it's supposed to (for now), this may suck me in again, but I'm approaching it like a cheating ex-girlfriend.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I'm quickly realizing that I'm not going to steam roll the First Division like I did the Second and Third. Falkirk is on a surprising run, as the preseason #4 team is coming off a 3-1 victory over Dundee United and also hold a 1-0 victory over me.
My goal for the year...avoid dropping points to teams 5-10, and try to limit the damage when I play Falkirk, Dundee United, and Dundee. I played all three of those teams away, and have 1-0 defeats against Falkirk and United, but a big 2-1 victory over Dundee.Attached FilesComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just happened. We started the game. Two quick passes up towards Sturridge. The defender made a tackle and got an unlucky bounce in behind the defense. Suarez happened to be running into the space behind the defense, and he picked it up and scored.Comment
