So I decided to to venture into the vanarama south and took my coaching abilities to AFC Telford United. This has been an absolute blast. First year I went and signed a bunch of free agents and kinda just rolled with it and we got promoted in our first season. I used only one tactic and towards the end of the season I noticed I was losing more and somehow some way I managed to clinch the playoffs and get promoted in my first season. I was not expecting that whatsoever.
Season two comes around and we are in the vanarama national and I get lock and loaded with 2 tactics and switch every other game and I wasn’t doing as hot as I was last season. I noticed my team would win more with my primary tactic so I went back to tactic one and ran the well dry till about mid season and I noticed we were losing and getting draws so I completely switched to tactic two and I personally think this is the best way to do it. Split your tactics up by half a season. Of course I do adjustments based on who I am playing but keep the formation and everything else. Consecutive games with the same line up does so much for your squad. When I was switching tactics I had to change line ups all the time based on personnel and they never got settled in. I ended up getting third in the vanarama national and beat Barnet 4-0 semi final. And billeracay 2-0. I did not expect this to happen at all. I was completely stunned. My star player got injured about a month left of the season and I had to bring up a defensive midfielder from my u18 squad and he shined. It was amazing. My striker was 17 years old and finished the season with 20 goals. This season was incredibly fun.
We have just turned professional(hoping player development skyrockets)in the sky league 2 as semi pro teams only practice 1-2 times a week which is incredibly frustrating but I noticed we rarely ever had practice injuries. So that’s something I have to adjust to.
Overall this game is so much fun. We have a decent amount of funds but we are expected to get relegated so I’m a little nervous about that. Hoping to avoid it and continue building. I’ve learned to only sign one year contracts as players usually aren’t good enough venturing into the next league. And to be careful with contract bonuses and clauses as I am paying hefty contracts for some trash players. But I feel like I’m getting the game down and overall having a blast.
I’ve had a difficult time getting loan players as no one wants to come to my squad but I’m hoping I can start looking into that.
Biggest thing is I trialed free agents till my money was dry and found so many good players.
Be careful loaning away Depth as you might need it later. Wanted to recall 3 loan guys because of injuries.
If you perform above expectations ask the board for stuff! I got 2 transfer budget increases per requests
Continue improving your staff. Scout players for 2 weeks. And when you get notifications of players getting cut, trial then as well.
There’s still so much to learn and it’s been very interesting to say the least. At work and wanted to post this because I just think about leaving work to play this while I am at work haha.
Edit: also went on a 8 game stretch of not conceding a goal at the end of the season and broke a vanarama national record. It was insane.
