Re: Any FM-related questions? Ask them here

Maybe I am just more tolerant of processing because I've played this game on some truly ****ty computers in the past, but I ignore the stars. Any decent newish computer you buy off the shelf will run pretty big setups.

The thing I like to do to make sure more players are scoutable in the database is to do a custom database that adds current national team players and players with continental reputation from all continents. Also, I always like to have at least Brazil and Argentina active for the sweet regens. I usually end up with around 100,000 players in my database when I start a new save.

I do much of the same, I don't intend on managing in some nations though so I don't load them, but you can load them in the database, though mine are normally between 65k85k not quite to 100k.

Re: Any FM-related questions? Ask them here

Ok, I'm a little thick so before I get rolling I want to be absolutely sure we're clear. Say I want to "possibly manage" in only England, Italy, France, Germany, or Spain. But I want to be able to transfer in players from all over the world, plus I'd like the Champions/Europa leagues to run just like real life, and have the ability to at least view results and transfers from all over the world.
Do I need to just load the countries I want to manage in? Or no? Maybe I should just dive in and see...

If you want to view results and every transfer that happens in other leagues, you have to at least load them. You can set them as not playable. You can also add/remove leagues as playable later, so you're not locked in to your decision.

You can still transfer players in from leagues that aren't loaded, it's just that all their stats and match ratings are behind the scenes.

Is playing Football Manager like playing fantasy football?

Is it just me, or does it seem like there are barely any goals directly from corners?

I mean, I've had a couple where the ball gets batted around a bit and ends up in the net, but I'm talking about headed goals straight off of a corner.

I don't ever mess around with creating set piece plays, so maybe that's my problem.

Bought a brand new rig over Christmas, Intel i5 6th gen quad core, 8 gig ram 1 TB HD, cannot wait for Comcast to finish the TV/Internet installation so that I can finally dive into this game for the first time!

And thankfully on pc you'll be able to choose version 1.03 to play.

Quick question. Since I am starting over after getting fired in the fist season, on my first ever save. Should I use the Touch mode for my next one? I think I read that was a classic mode, and was more streamlined.

I guess it depends on what you want. If you're not into a lot of the behind the scenes stuff, then sure. However, I'd say start with a big team in the full game. It's more forgiving and still fun while maintaining the full feature set this game offers
