Yeah I downloaded that, and I don't know if it's because I applied it to a saved game, and existing regens, but it looks awful more often than not. Hair that is slightly off center, beards that are way too high on the face, etc.

Some REALLY creepy and messed up looking regens in my save right now, lol.

I had that problem with this tonight also. After clearing the skin cache and reloading, I still had to restart the game to fix it. Once I did that they looked a lot better. All the hair looks great now. But most of the faces still look very odd. Like menacing. I wouldn't trust these kids to watch my dog.

I have a player who has a squad status of backup. I want to set him to rotation. But it wont let me. Everything is greyed out but backup and no longer needed. He has no transfer of loan status set. And no open promise. He is also happy with good moral. I also just recently made him the club captain due to being one of the older players with the highest leadership stat. Old captain was sold.

Anyone know why I can't change his squad status?
Does he have a full-time contract?

Ah, that is it. He is the last player on a part-time contract. Nice catch.

What's the best way to identify transfer targets? If I find people I'm interested in, their teams want 90+ million for them and they just aren't worth that. I'm guessing you have to find people either at the end of their contracts or are unhappy with their team? Is there a way to send someone out to find those guys?

Yep, you're not going to get a guy for a reasonable price if they're happy, important to the club, and have 4 years left on their contract. Though it never hurts to lowball an offer - especially if the player has an ambitious attitude and the club is of a smaller reputation. This can force the club's hand if he decides to raise a stink. You should also always check to see if the player has a minimum release clause in their contract screen (requires scouting to find out).

As for specifically targeting guys coming to the end of their contract, unfortunately, you can't set a condition on your scouting assignments to only return players in the last few months of their contract. Not that I'm aware of, anyway.

Instead, you have to go to the player search screen and set a condition to only show players in the last year, 6 months, 3 months, or 1 month of their contract. Then you can pick guys from that list to scout further. It's actually good practice to always check this during the January window (if playing in most European leagues) to see who you might be able to snap up on a free transfer.

Lots of help, thank you! I am unfamiliar with how budget works in the Premier League. I'm Man U and if they give me a budget of 90 million for transfers, what happens to the money if I don't spend it? Does it just count towards my profit for the year then the money gets divided up for next years use? Or is it smarter to use as much as I can even if I overpay a little?

I have a wonderkid with higher determination than anyone else on my squad by a considerable margin. The problem is, if I give him a tutor, his determination will automatically lower to match that of his tutor (which I think is stupid, but unfortunately that's how it works in FM). So how do you guys handle similar situations? Do you assign the player a tutor, hoping the attributes he gains in other categories makes up for the loss in determination? Or do you not assign a tutor, preferring instead to keep his determination high?

If the money is unused, it simply remains in the club's coffers. But be aware that that your listed balance does not exclude transfer funds. This means that if your club's balance is $50 mil, and you are given a $10 mil transfer budget, using that transfer budget would lower the balance to $40 mil. The unused budget will not be applied to next year's budget. However, if you don't use all of your budget, the board might give you more next season due to the increase in profits from not spending the entirety.

Generally, you should only use as much money as you need. You want your club to be profitable, and going over budget (even by a little) can lead to losses that will result in slashed budgets in future years.

Also, if you find yourself with a ton of extra money, I would look at buying some young prospects to develop.

Nomar pretty much nailed it with his response. I completely agree - if you really want to buy, get some prospects to develop. Here's why:

                      1. They're young and if they are 18 or younger at time of joining your club, have the potential to be homegrown. Playing as United, you need to have a minimum of 8 players trained in England for the Premier League. In the Champion's League, you also need 8 homegrown players but 4 at minimum need to be trained at your club between 15-21 for 3 years. You buy young players and you'll never have to worry about the rules.

                      2. Buying young players often means you're not having to spend lots of money and if you ever decide to sell, you can earn massive profits for them. Your club benefits and your club will continue to make money, which in a long term game, is needed.

                      3. Buying established stars often isn't worth the fee you paid. If you want the biggest stars, you have to pay a premium in terms of transfer fees and wages. Plus, you have to consider the ages. For example, if you buy Alexis Sanchez, you'll likely have to cough up an exorbitant amount. He's already 26 going on 27. You'll likely have 4-5 seasons of him at his peak before he starts to decline. Then you'll have a player declining taking up a chunk of your wage budget. I'm not saying he'll be a horrible player; but the money you spent on him as well as wages makes you think twice. It's my approach and it might sound moneyballish, but I like developing and seeing the "HG" icons beside all my players in a squad.

Just to clarify on the home grown rules.

If you have less than the number of home grown players, you can still play in the competition. You just have to reduce the maximum number of players you can register. So don't feel like you HAVE to meet those thresholds because you can get away with being a couple short.

Whats the deal with the greyed out kids on the u18 team? Are those fill ins from the incoming class that year? A lot of my u18 kids turned 19 and I had to promote them to u21. Now I have like 8 greyed out kids that I can't interact with.

Looks like it. Same names after the march in take.

Grey names show up in a squad if you don't have enough on that squad for a full team.

They can be signed, but they're generally really bad.

Anyone know why I don't have an option to ask the board for an increase in transfer budget? We have plenty in the bank (9M), listed as secure. They only gave me 500k for the upcoming season. Yet they gave me 1.5M when joining this season. They have been 100% satisfied with my handling of the budget, and overall I have a very secure rating from them. I don't understand why I don't have an option under make board requests to ask. I can only increase/decrease youth budgets.
