We're not going to bid 18 mil. on Downing when we can up the offer some and buy a much better player in Mata, which is the plan IMO once Nasri, Cesc, or both are off.
I believe that story was leaked by Villa to pressure L'Pool to up their offer...Downing wants them and they want him, he'll go there.Patrick Mahomes > GodComment

Back of Gunners. Liverpool will be overpaying for this English player, thank you very much.Comment

Considering you have MUCH more experience in doing so, I think it's safe to say you'll land him. Laughter causing buys are not are strong suit right now.Comment

Doesn't sound like you are looking to bring in a new LB to replace Clichy.
"The plan for left back is that we have Kieran Gibbs, Armand Traore and Thomas Vermaelen can play there too. So we have what we need," said WengerComment

Not surprising at all. I really hope we buy to quality CB's and put TV5 at LB. That will never happen, though.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Arsene said in his first press conference today that he expects Cesc and Nasri to stay. Almost a case of Arsene being stubborn in a good way. He refuses to be bullied and I love it.
However, is it the best thing for the team right now? Keep Cesc is, but will Nasri play? If Arsene means we're keeping him for a year and then he can go, not sure how that will work out for us in the end.Comment

I'd rather cash in on Nasri now then keep for another season and let him leave on a free like Flamini.Blind to this impending fate

If not selling him means he starts playing and we can resign him, great. But if we're seriously keeping him with the plan of him walking, it's just ridiculous. We could replace him for the money we'd get out of him.Comment

This just in, Alex Ferguson knows more about where are players are going than we do.
Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Samir Nasri has agreed to leave Arsenal, but does not expect Manchester United to sign the Frenchman
Has decided to leave Arsenal, but not to United. Thanks for breaking thew news for us, Alex.Comment

Cesc is another situation because I think he will give us his all if he stays. I don't think Nasri will do the same. He has came out of this whole situation very badly."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Well, at least Wenger is saying the right things.
"You are the same people who reproach me for not spending money and now you reproach me for wanting to spend it," he added, with a smile. "It is in the interests of the club. Fábregas is in no-man's land ... Imagine the worst situation, that we lose Fábregas and Nasri; you cannot convince people that you are ambitious after that."

I've suspected this could happen for awhile, but nice to see the club officially confirm Gervinho's signing: http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-arc...o-join-arsenal. As ZM Punk wrote earlier, Arsene confirmed it yesterday, but now it's up on the Arsenal homepage.Comment
