Arsenal must be absolutely convinced without a doubt Theo will eventually sign. Otherwise he would be about to sold. I think no news is good news when it comes to him.

I'm fine with Sahin going to Liverpool if he doesn't plan on staying. We do need another MF badly.

On the topic of Theo, I'm confident something will get worked out.

What is everyone's thoughts on Dempsey? If Sahin goes to Anfield, then that kills any chance of Dempsey going there. He could fit in nicely for us in central midfield, on the wing and at striker.

Or Arsenal low-balled Madrid on the permanent fee and would never pay him the wages he'd want for a permanent move. (If the future fee is actually part of the final deal - that hasn't been confirmed).

Yeah, Liverpool offered to pay the majority of this 115,000k wage bill.

I think it's a combination of both. Just guessing, but it's my best guess.

Money was of course an issue, as we're not going to pay more than we think we should. Ever. Sigh.

Also, it seems that he really wants to stay at Madrid.

And I wouldn't blame him for that. I'd be a lot more confident in him making a move permanent if he wasn't only entering year 2 of a 6-year Madrid deal (again, I haven't seen anything confirming that there's even a future fee in place). He must believe he's going to have another chance to crack the starting lineup there. But over at Liverpool, we're glad to take him, even if it's only for a year. I'm really liking our center midfield options now with Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, and Sahin.

For what it's worth, Rennes just got Makoun. Gotta think we'll be in for M'Vila now after missing out on Sahin and Wenger's comments that he still wants a defender and a center mid. As much as I'm rooting for Diaby to do well, we absolutely cannot rely on him to replace Song on his own.

Yeah I am rooting for Diaby and I am sure he will be looking to do all can to succeed this year. I was reading an article about him and he was saying that he feels this is the last chance for his career since he is in the last year of his contract. I also hope Arsenal get M'Vila, also read that we are looking at Jesus Navas, he week be really good linking up with Giroud since he likes to cross the ball.

If Madrid wanted anymore than 15 million pounds then I'm glad we didn't. We aren't Liverpool, we don't pay 15 million Euro's for every player that walks down the street.

Almost all the papers say it was Arsenal's decision to end things. More than likely because they want someone on a permanent basis.

Anyways, that's a good pickup for Liverpool. He's a quality player.

I'd love to have Navas, but it seems too good to be true to me. I'm betting we're pretending to show interest to put a little pressure on Theo to hurry up and sign an extension. If Theo doesn't extend and we decide to sell him then I could maybe see us going for Navas. Would be an upgrade in my opinion, but I would have concerns about his chronic homesickness problems.

But yeah, if we got Navas, M'Vila, and a decent squad option at fullback, I think we can challenge for a trophy. Probably not the league title, but one of the cups maybe.

I've read it was 14, and for once Liverpool would finally be paying the right price for a guy.

Good news is are defense is as organized as I have seen from the club.

Bad news is we have no chemistry up front. Hopefully that comes from these guys playing together a little more.

Offense was very meh but I expected a draw and not much scoring as Stoke are very disciplined in denfence. Goals were not a promblem for Arsenal last year as van Persie was leading the front, it seems every year they go one step forward and two steps back. I know it is early but things do not get easier, especially since Arsenal will be playing Liverpool next. Lets just hope we hit an offensive form soon and Sagna comes back the lineup quickly as well we seem to be a lot better when he plays.

We're dominating possession but not scoring, which might seem like the same old Arsenal, but I really think that's down to the team needing to develop more offensive chemistry. In particular, we're not generating a lot of chances in the final third, but I think that will come.

Also, totally classless of the Stoke fans to boo Ramsey.
