Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***

I'd love to see that guy who blasted Gazidas and Wenger interviewed now after the Ozil deal Not saying that we don't have issues, but man, I still am in awe a day later.

When I ordered my Ozil shirt, I was like Wowzers, I'm ordering an Ozil ARSENAL kit!!! I also have ordered a Ramsey one too because I always wanted his shirt

The one thing I'll say is that for Wilshere, this is a critical time for him. He's been blighted by injuries and I love his style and grit. Having said that, he needs to work on staying fit and returning to form. It's fairly safe to say Ramsey is outplaying him at the moment and he'll really need to step it up to dispatch him when Arteta comes back. Frankly, I'd prefer to see Wilshere and Ramsey at the same time than Arteta, but I know that likely won't happen.

Lastly, if Abou Diaby can EVER stay fit for a whole season, he'd be like a new signing. But I've been fooled before so it ain't happening.

We'll already have Podolski like a new signing in December. Not counting on much Diaby this year.

It's going to be December/January before Diaby is even back training fulltime.

We just have to hope to stay healthy and that we can buy a striker in January.

Several newspapers are now confirming that Mourinho blocked the Demba Ba loan to Arsenal after hearing of the Ozil deal. Mourinho was quoted saying, "I did not accept Arsenal's offer for Demba Ba because added to their signing of Ozil, they would have been title contenders."

I personally think it was a smart managerial and business move, but it doesn't show much class on Mourinho part. Chelsea backing out the deal, caused Arsenal to back out of the Bendtner to Crystal Palace deal. It upsets Arsenal, Bendtner, and Ba. Now Ba is probably going to ride the bench behind Torres and Eto'o. I don't know if it's just because I'm an Arsenal supporter, but it just seems like an incredibly shameful and classless move.

Sounds like business to me. Nothing shameful or classless about it. If it's not in Chelsea's best interest, why go through with it if it's not final? Wenger had plenty of time to get a striker. That's what you get for waiting until the last second and dealing with rivals.

              100% agree.

Classless would be using some kind of underhanded tactic to make it seem like a deal was done, only to pull it at the last minute. This was just a smart business move.

Chelsea were just being smart, because to be honest, we still need cover at striker to be a serious title contender at this point. I want to be proven wrong, but the fact is that we took far too long to fill the holes in our squad, so we could pay for it.

I did agree, that it was is a smart business move. When I think about it, maybe shameful and classless was too strong of words to use.

I'm probably just upset w/ with the possiblity of seeing Bendtner on the pitch in Arsenal shirt again. I'm crossing my fingers that we only see him during the early rounds of cup competitions.

Well, Walcott up front is also still an option. It all depends on our opponent, though. But Ozil behind him could only help.

And Bendtner isn't a bad striker. If he comes in with a good attitude and works hard, I could see him becoming a solid backup option. He'll be third or 4th choice anyway behind Podolski and Walcott, so unless Wenger idiotically starts playing him on the right again, I think he'll be a solid depth piece.

I'm glad you Gooners on here actually understand our decision with Ba. On twitter people have been going on and on about it. Letting RvP go to United was absolutely dumb and yes Ba is nowhere near RvPs level but why even leave the chance out there for him to get hot for you guys especially with Ozil delivering him opportunities. Jose will know about Ozil about as good as anyone else out there.

This. Wenger had all freaking transfer window to pick up a back up striker. It is really his fault for leaving it late and I don't blame Chelsea for not giving up players to a rival, I wish Arsenal knew better. God forbid Giroud picks up a knock all hell will break loose, I better see Bendtner in nothing but Carling/League cup matches.

Good point Kreb, I had thought that a page or two back about Theo going central and spelling Giroud up front. He did this a few times last season, and seeing how Ramsey has proven that he can play virtually anywhere, I could see Cazorla, Arteta, Ozil, and Rosicky playing in the middle with the Ram roaming and Theo up top. I like that. Maybe i'm an idiot, but when Podolski is back to fit (which is a ways away, I know) I actually think we aren't too bad up top. Cazorla, Ramsey, Jack, and Theo have all shown they can score - and with the way we have been countering on turnovers, going back to last season, I think we'll be okay.

Sure hope so anyway. Excited about the Sunderland game, pumped to see what AW comes up with and how the guys play with Ozil in there.

Still, would have been thrilled with the Ba deal, but, it didn't happen so we got what we got. Taking away the Villa game, it hasn't been too shabby.

I wish we had the stance that we wouldn't sell to rivals, even if we didn't get as much. I know I previously stated that Chelsea sold Benayoun to us, but as many pointed out, not really the same.

Selling RVP to United was just absurd. There had to interest for him from outside England, so we should've sent him out. Instead, we gave United a massive assist in winning another title.

Agreed which is why I applaud Dortmund for standing up to Lewandowski and not sell him to Bayern. Yes, they would lose out on a large transfer fee, but they saved face with their supporters and standing firm given that Gotze already bolted.

Yes we need a backup striker, but to be honest, I'm not a big fan of Ba. I saw one game where he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn despite having a clear cut chance. If we're going to sign strikers like that, we may as well keep Bendtner. He basically does that too although when he's actually in the mood, he'll score a couple of goals

Yeah, what everyone else has said, its not "classless" or even a dirtball tactic by Chelsea. I'm surprised Jose even considered it unless Arsenal were vastly overpaying.
