Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I'm not lol. I know they've been really good. It just pains me to say that. We were fortunate to walk out with a point in that match and I really like what Pochettino has done with them. It's like they finally have a solid mentality and approach after all those years of near missesComment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
The issue I see with the Europa league is that Arsene wouldn't just trot out a bunch of teenagers—he'd try his best to win the damn thing, but that would most likely hurt our league form.
If we're in it, we'll try and win it, but if we don't and we finish 4th in the league...that would suck.
I'll still gladly take a better shot at the league and being knocked out again in the round of 16.
You guys are like the 8th richest club in Europe, stop acting like you are Everton.
If Spurs can make a deep Europa run and still finish 5th or 6th pretty much every single season. Then freaking Arsenal should absolutely be able to make a deep Europa League run and finish top 4.Comment

You know you're talking about Arsenal here, right? You're preaching to the choir in this thread. They NEVER make sure they have enough depth to compete on all fronts. Various injuries. 3rd/4th place and out in the first round of the CL knockouts. Arsene cashes paychecks. Board profits. Repeat.Comment

Yeah but that's my point; if Spurs can do it, Arsenal can. Arsenal has had an objectively better and deeper squad for years.Comment

Anyhow, yes, you want to win trophies. However, winning the title is important as well. We could go back and forth about being rich, but Wenger for better and worse, doesn't buy for various reasons. I'm not agreeing with him, but as a supporter, that's what we deal with.Comment

But honestly as a fan, after our first 11, we're not that deep. Case and point: Coquelin. Our backup is Flamini who works hard, but too slow to keep up. Same with Arteta. Spurs have a selection of Alli, Dembele, Mason, Bentaleb, Dier. Tell me who you'd rather have. I dislike Spurs, but that midfield has a lot more depth.

A team with your stature, revenue stream and squad at your disposal should not be concerned with having depth for the Europa league. If you guys have the depth for the CL, you have the depth for the EL.

Should we have more depth? Of course we should, but we don't, so I'm not going to pretend that we do. And we don't have enough depth for the CL, at all.
We all know how much money the club has, which is why we're always upset with how the club doesn't spend when it needs to, such as having an actual backup option for Coquelin.
We don't think we have fewer resources than other clubs—we've just accepted that we're not going to spend those that we have. We know exactly who we are and what club we support.Comment

But Wenger wants to win the league, not a trophy now as he already has 2. Like Kreb said, we know by now what this club does. The money is there, but spending it to bolster depth? Never!Comment

Nah, that platitude only applies when a player returns in January.

Our two new players in January will be two English lads by the names of Jack Wilshere, great young midfield talent, and Danny Welbeck, former Manchester United player.
I hear they have a bright future ahead of them if they can stay fit. Excited to see us bring them in.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
And there goes the shot at the EPL title... Sad, because we really had a shot... Arsene took a lot silly risks and they really backfired now. Not playing Cech in the CL to rest him for the EPL, now looks royally stupid. Playing Alexis when he really needed a rest and is now out until the New Year some reports are saying.
Really sad, frustrating, annoying and infuriating. They is no damn excuse for all these injuries. Plus they are soft tissue injuries on top of that. If they were broken bones, it wouldn't be on the staff, but bad luck. This stuff is on Arsene and the medical staff. From training methods to medical care for these guys. Hell, Santi is never injured and now out for a long time... Feel like going into the fetal position and cry."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I've read a theory a few different places that suggests, since Arsene seems to be so vocally anti-doping, that Arsenal players get injured more because they are basically the only team NOT doping.
I think doping is really prevalent in professional sports these days, so I wouldn't be surprised if at least some variant of that theory was true.
But even if that is the case, surely it wouldn't be THIS bad right?Comment
