This will make me sound like an *******, but oh well. To say he's average is just wrong. You can perceive him as average, but if that's the metric we're going with, then yeah I guess we'll forever disagree as that's not really a metric that can be tested.

Even looking purely at stats—especially those beyond goals and assists, he's literally above average in everything that would matter for his position.

I'm not saying he's elite—he's far from it, but he's much more than an average Premier League midfielder, and to think otherwise is, well, wrong. But at this point I don't think it matters what he does, as you're going to stick with what you think you're seeing from him.

By comparison, I'd say John McGinn is an average Premier League midfielder: https://fbref.com/en/players/90f9199...couting-Report

Looks like you are terminating Kola's contract and he is going to Marseille.

I'm all for wages off the books from that, um, era of players. Physically he always gave his all out there, but technically he was well short of what we needed in that area given how we wanted to play.

If the club are serious about pushing for fourth this season, there needs to be immediate upgrades in the squad this window. Without that, we'll be looking back at January in a few months wondering what could've been.

Actually, if they're serious about fifth or sixth, there needs to be immediate upgrades.

Rumors of Leno going soon. Not on the bench tonight and there is talk of you being linked to New England Revolution keeper, Matt Turner.

Moving him now would be something Edu has seemed willing to do recently, which is making a move that’s better for the player than the club, which is actually a nice thing to see.

So Vlahovic wants to play for Juve, DCL is going to be way too expensive, so that’s leaves Isak.

If Arsenal want to get top 4, then they’re gonna need to pay his release clause.

Auba it seems is finished with the club, and the future of Lacazette and Nketiah are up in the air.

Not to have a go at anyone, but I never understood those who thought this was at all a possibility. It often seems that players who have been in Italy want to stay there (Locatelli) and we're far, far from an attractive club to transfer to right now for someone of his profile.

I don't think we'll sign a striker, so I hope we just stick Martinelli up there. Lacazette can not finish—those clamoring for him to get a new contract, I don't get it.

Klopp has mentioned Martinelli unprompted twice in press conferences since the 2nd leg match.

I hope we put in a £40,000,001 bid.

Came out of nowhere. Always liked him, but once again I’m glad to see the club finally moving on players that are not in first-team plans.

Say what you want regarding Auba's responsibility of returning late—I think part of man management has to also be knowing when to not rigidly ahdere to your rules and regulations when you know it could further damage a possibly fractured relationship.
Knowing now that there were apparently continued issues behind the scenes, and knowing that we haven't been terrible without him in the side (and he wasn't going to play the rest of the season anyway)—I'm alright with how it was handled, and I'm glad to have his wages gone.

It was always going to be Ozil Part II with the wages, his issues in the past, and his age.

As for the rest of the window—for now, I'm okay with the gamble. We have one competition to play in, 17 matches. We have a deep enough squad for that, but we're going to need great performances.

I'd rather we have another good Summer window than rush something now. One look at last Summer should give everyone enough confidence (enough, not the most) in terms of recruitment. The club is showing that they're serious about doing things differently such as bringing in the players they want even if it costs a bit more, or not bringing anyone in at all if there is no fit, and I'll take that all day over quick fixes (Willian) and bad late deals (Lucas Perez).
