    re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread

Looks to me he has lost locker room, instead of coming off tough loss to mexico with some pride and effort. NOT. You could see it in the players effort and play and could even see it in JK face. Even at end of match JK smiled and shaked hand of Costa Rican coach and immediately went to locker room. Taylor made a great point about I am not even sure who the core of this team is, always different lineups and no consistency.
Not sure what he has done to progress US soccer?
    WORLD CUP- same
    Gold cup- loss
    Confed cup- not

Hows this any better than what Bradley did?

      Time to go...

You lost to Mexico and all game long you're in park the bus mode basically as if you were playing against Germany or WC form Spain.

Lost 5 out of the last 6.

And now you're airing out dirty laundry about the whole Fabian Johnson issue. You just don't do that.

The Klinnsman era is over. Does he have the best squad? No, but his tactics, handling players is too much. Plus, once you lose the locker room, you're done.

I don't disagree with anything that has been stated, but I don't see him going anywhere.

Let's just hope the results go as well as they did after the last time he supposedly lost the team (prior to the snow game against Costa Rica).

          Official USMNT Thread

At what point do we start placing blame on the players?

There was 0 effort out there outside of a few guys(Bobby Wood/Brad Evans as I only caught the second hslf). Klinnsmann said from the jump we aren't good enough yet to beat anyone on technical prowess. He said it outright and no one liked that at all. He said we will have to outwork everyone. When we do that, we win.

People, especially the players imo, keep buying into the hype that the U.S. is the best at everything simply because we are the US. That is not the case. Our best players always have an edge that they had to prove something. Dempsey, Wynalda, Reyna, Donovan(pre-sabbatical), Howard. All of these guys had fire that I just didn't see last night outside of Bobby Wood and Evans. I'm sorry but the want to win doesn't come from the coach.

We won't get CONSISTENTLY better no
matter who is at the helm until the mentality is that we have to outwork our opponents no matter who they are.

Overall quality of players just isn't there. They can't really play possession against quality teams because players just aren't good enough on the ball, so they play some offshoot of long ball and counter attack, which leaves their below-average defense open. At this point, I'm sure JK would be okay with getting fired.

              re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread

I don't think it matters who the coach is...

We are at the very end of a great generation of players, and no one has stepped up to fill their places.

Is the average USMNT better than, say, 20 years ago? Definitely.
              10 years ago? Probably.

But Klinsmann was tasked with building a team after Donovan and other core players have moved on or are no longer close to what they were.

I don't care that there has been a lot of rotating lineups...we kinda have to expect that given the situation...the need to still play Dempsey and Bradley, etc...and the need to find out whom among the youngsters can deliver.

As long as the squad is well-settled before WCQ...who cares.

I have, however, if only on occasion, seen the USMNT play the best soccer they've every played under JK. It isn't always pretty, and I'm not necessarily happy with the past year...but there were times where the team played "real" soccer with real off-the-ball movement and passing, the likes of which I don't recall them ever producing.

I'm willing to give him the next WC cycle...because...why not? Who is going to come in and do anything better or different? It's not like there is a well-established squad or anything...the next guy would be doing the same thing.
              Australian Rules Football...just sayin'

No Dempsey this time around, and Fabian Johnson got recalled.

Do we really have so few options at fullback that we have to play our best player out of position?

At first I thought he maybe decided to give all MLS playoffs players a break, but then I saw that Nagbe and Hamid are in this group.

Wouldn't it be due to the fact that Sounders are in the playoffs?

Yes, they are in the playoffs, but so are the Timbers and DCU, and both of those teams had players called up. (Unless I'm misunderstanding your question)

Yeah but Dempsey is more likely to request not to be called up, Nagbe and Hamid aren't turning that down.

I would bet that Dempsey just asked not to be called up.

You're probably right. Him or Sigi.
