Good game, really fun to watch - Costa Rica had us on our heels when they kept the ball on the ground - of course that was task. Loved that the game was continued - love to see that passion to play the game. I think a lot of the players felt like school boys again playing with zero tactics and just pure joy of playing the beautiful game. Amazing.

It was nice to see Costa Rica wanted to continue playing as well. Many other teams would of appealed for the restart in the same situation.

3. The US, by the way, are now second place in the Hexagonal. And they're the only team that have had a home game but haven't dropped home points.

And after they couldn't score the equalizer they thought they could get when they appeared to insist the game continue, the butthurt flows:

"It was an embarrassment to football, disrespectful to the game," an animated Pinto told reporters.

Pinto said the "legal conditions" for playing the game were not in place and a Federation official told Costa Rican media that an official protest would be made to FIFA on Saturday.

Costa Rica's players showed little dissent on the field, going close to an equaliser in the second half, but they vented their anger after the game.
"Honestly, it was robbery, a disgrace, I've never played a game in these conditions," said midfielder Cristian Bolanos, who plays with Danish club FC Copenhagen.
"You couldn't see the ball ... if we had played without snow, we would have won, I am sure," he said.
Striker Alvaro Saborio, who plays in Major League Soccer for Real Salt Lake, concurred.
"We couldn't play in those conditions, they should have stopped the game in the first half," he said.

Yeah I find it pretty hilarious because of the distinct advantages other teams try to exploit with scheduling. Like with the Honduras game. 90+ degree weather while the majority of the US team had been dealing with the European winter and the MLS guys were still getting in shape. We just took it upon ourselves to play a cold weather game against a Costa Rican side this time. Now the US will get blasted for it by anti-US fans despite the fact every team does it in CONCACAF.

Agreed. Everyone in CONCACAF schedules games in location that gives them favorable odds and to make their opponents game a nightmare. Nothing new going on.

The only robbery that happened that game was the US not getting a penalty after both a foul on Dempsey followed immediately by a handball in the box.

The complaining was bound to happen regardless of who won. Yes, I believe some USA fans/officials would complain also. Costa Rica just needs to move on. Plenty of games left to prove they're worthy and qualify.

The ref asked Costa Rica players if they wanted to continue, they said yes. That should be the end of that discussion really.
