re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
I miss Jurgen. There was so much BS out there that Arena would bring better chemistry and morale, but we saw that that didn't mean ****. Under Jurgen they were so miserable that they advanced out of the group in 2014 and drew against Portugal. And that was after he ditched Landon. Don't want to hear about morale and coddling MLS "stars."Last edited by dubcity; 11-15-2017, 01:17 PM.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
He was always pretty critical of the MLS and clearly preferred Europe-based players, and yet persisted with playing a bunch of MLS players when better ones were available. To me, this says he was being told to play certain players.
Once again, I was critical of Jurgen as a coach. He’s not a coach to move forward with, Germany already showed us that. But it’s becoming increasingly clear that we didn’t even let him do the job we brought him in for.Comment

Decent result against a less than fully fueled Portuguese side. Bad mistake on the goal let in by Horvath but I would much rather go forward with this group and some others and let the group that failed go with a few exceptions.Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
So the USSF want to organize a tournament for teams that failed to qualify for the World Cup. Really?

IF other teams take it seriously, it would actually be great experience for our young players. Also, if we can get fifa to recognize it (long shot but a small chance), then we’d be able to cap-tie a few players (like Gonzalez)Comment

Like Brahvocado said, it'll be pretty cool if the teams take it seriously. And there are plenty of good teams to make it entertaining. I'm always up for solid competition between solid countries, and this could be just that if everyone is all in on it.
I'm interested and intrigued if nothing else!Comment

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
I think it's a great idea. I mean, why not? We'd just be playing random friendlies at that time anyway. I don't really care if there's star power to be honest. I doubt it'd be like a full tournament. Probably just a round-robin of 4 teams over two weeks or something. Like that thing the USWNT did earlier this year.
I had to laugh at this:
Michael Lewis, who has been writing about football in the USA for almost 40 years, is cynical about the reasons for US Soccer touting this tournament.
"This seems like a money-making idea," he told BBC Sport. "They would think about it as a positive revenue stream."Last edited by ImTellinTim; 11-16-2017, 01:53 PM.Comment

January Camp Roster is set, and it's the MLS-folks(unsurprisingly)
Christian Ramirez getting the call is nice though!

re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread
This January camp is even less exciting and noteworthy than usual since absolutely nothing of consequence competition-wise happens between now and the next January camp. There is no permanent manager, and coaches are leaving for other jobs left and right.
So, of course, they pick the most inconsequential time to finally take a look at Ramirez.
*slow clap* Good job guys!Comment
