Do you guys reckon Conte is going to give chances to Tomori and Aina this season? They've both got squad numbers for the new season and there doesn't seem to be any movement on bringing new defenders in.

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Watching the City-Sunderland replay last night I couldn't help but think how much better PVA has gotten. Yeah he gave up that penalty early but once he settled he was there stride for stride with Sterling and kept him quiet until Raheem switched flanks.
So much is talked about letting Bertrand go (and rightfully so) but I can't help but think PVA wouldn't have been a decent option at LB too.

PVA would have been a perfectly good rotation option for sure.
Bertrand is just worse because he's one of the best LBs in the league.Comment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Took today off work to catch the game live with pops and have a few beers.
I'm in love with Conte already... The passion and energy, wow. On side note we were lucky to have Costa out there but West Ham didn't even deserve a point in this game. Also this may have been Oscar's best game since the 2014/15 season.

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Pirlo is even less mobile than Cesc and Conte used him so I think he will find a way to use him.
Also holy crap Bane had a pretty good game.
Other than the goal Costa was pretty bad, but I did enjoy how much he ran. The whole team really, just throwing themselves in front of the ball at the end there.
Dave, Hazard and Kante were fantastic. Whole defense was good aside from the goal.
Not quite as excited by Willian as others online seem to be, I didn't think he had that great of a game. Not terrible, just kind of meh.
Excited to see more of Batshuyai though.Comment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
I think Conte prefers Oscar because it allows us to press higher up the pitch which was perfect against a West Ham team with no teeth in the starting XI. Cesc will get his time though vs teams that pack it in.
Without Payet and Lanzini i knew Bane was going to have an easy time of it. He lived in that attacking half early which really pushed back Valencia and really negated Carroll since he couldn't play the layoffs to Enner.
Kante is so energetic that it makes the other players play up to his pace. We were flying at the end trying to win the ball back late and secure the win.
Hell of a layoff by Michy and you can tell the 4-2-4 work done in the preseason paid off. Even though I think Costa fluffed his touch which didn't let him play in Pedro that shot location was excellent. Now if only he could dribble at pace. I'm excited to see what Michy could do with that kind of space, the ball at his feet, and defenders flat footed.
Should have been a comfortable 2-0 win but 3 points is 3 points and the effort/desire from 14-15 was there.

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Looks like Cesc to Real is unlikely...
‘If you want to put another central midfielder into the mix then it becomes complicated,’ Zidane said after Real Madrid’s 5-3 friendly victory over Stade de Reims last night.
‘Cesc is a great player but it is not very straightforward.
‘I am going to end up with a squad where three or four players do not get selected.
‘To therefore put another player in there makes it difficult.’Comment
