Looks like United are trying to swoop in for Lukaku, that better not happen.

Way too many reports that it's almost done. This obviously means Lewandowski is headed our way right? RIGHT?!?

Same thing they did two seasons ago, apparently.

If he does go to United then I think we have a real "lack of ambition" problem on our hands. Fee is reportedly 75m, considerably less than they were reportedly asking for. I'm sure if we came in with an 80-90m bid Everton would take it. If he goes to United who are we getting? Both Belotti and Morata will cost that much, possibly even more considering Torino and RM will know we are now even more desperate than before.

We aren't getting out of paying 90m for a good striker this window, simple as that. Either we get taken to the cleaners a bit by Everton for Rom, or we get absolutely ****ing RINSED by Torino/RM.

If Rom goes to United we'd probably be looking at 100m for Belotti/Morata.

We better have some ace up our sleeve...

I got a newsletter from Chelsea this morning introducing new signings. I got excited and thought did something happen overnight... no, email just introduced Willy. LOL

This is the worst part of silly season: the waiting.

Hard not to feel anxious and a bit frustrated right now, since there is so much silence.

As I said before, we are a club with far fewer leaks than the other big boys, and we also have far fewer journalists that can be trusted on Chelsea related news (basically just Law and Levine, and even those two get it wrong sometimes).

Even Bakayoko and Rudiger, two apparently done deals, still haven't happened with zero word on what's going on.

Maybe there is a bunch going on behind the scenes, but there is always the chance that there is not. We've become exceptional frugal for such a rich club, and with transfer prices rising higher and higher each window, we are going to have to bite the bullet and start spending big again or risk falling behind for good.

Probably sounds a bit too negative for a club that has won two titles in three years, but the warning signs have been there for us to take notice. I'm not sure our last two titles would have happened against a full strength United, or a full strength Pep squad, which is what we are about to have on our hands.

I think Lukaku to United is all but done. I forgot that Minola is his agent and he's got his gang over there already.

Going to be interesting to see who we go after now.

Also, I'm obviously in the bringing Rom back camp, but if we do manage to lose out on him I would really hope Conte would ask the board to get him Icardi or Belotti. If we are going to be spending close to 100m on a striker (which is almost certainly what RM would make us pay) then I've no idea why we wouldn't just throw 100m at Inter. Icardi is probably the most talented of that group (Morata, Lukaku, Belotti) and would fit our system well.

Sadly I think we will end up missing out on Rom, and getting Morata, which I think will be a huge mistake. I'll of course be happy to be proven wrong, but I think he's the worst of that 4.

Yeah the agent definitely plays a part, and we are a hard club for agents to deal with.

I'm higher on Morata than you Brahv. I actually think Real should keep him over Benz but that's Ronaldo's boy so he's not going anywhere.

But yeah, you helped me jump on board the Rom train and now it's derailed. I was excited to see what he could do with talented playmakers around him.

Don't get me wrong, Morata is a very good player, I think he has the makings of a top striker.

However, while Morata, Lukaku and even Belotti all have medium-large weaknesses to work on before they could legitimately be considered world class, Icardi has virtually no weakness.

He can score with both feet, inside and outside the box, he's great in the air, has good pace, his first touch and general technique etc. is superb (you can tell he's from La Masia), his link-up play is great, he's mentally strong.

He's also been consistently putting up excellent numbers since he was 18. If there is any young striker worth breaking the transfer record over, it's definitely him.

Slightly off-topic but a pretty strong vote of confidence for Charly by giving him #17. I was really disappointed by how his Betis loan ended but you could always see the inate ability to beat the first defender and his speed is elite.

And yes, I'd dump bags of money in front of Icardi. I think hes the best of the bunch plus he never plays for country so we wouldn't have to worry about him getting hurt over breaks lol.
