    Ain't that the truth? Lol.

This is how starved we've been for transfer news as Spurs fans. I've seen some chatter around reddit/twitter that Sissoko might surprise us and basically be "a new signing". I think I'm taking the bait!

I think a healthy Lamela is like a new signing, if that counts?

Man, I don't know about Lamela. Report today says Rose is out for August, and Lamela is "even further away"

He's been injured for damn near a full calendar year, and the whole time there's been no timetable on a return. Pretty worrying.

          Re: Official Spurs Thread

Danny Rose being out for August may be a blessing in disguise. He's definitely wanted by other teams, but Spurs are definitely better off with him than without him. The loss of Walker hurt, but losing Rose as well would definitely take the defense down a notch. That's not to say Trippier and Davies aren't talented, but they aren't Walker and Rose.

Lamela's situation has been frustrating for sure. It's a shame to see him miss so much time during his prime years because he's certainly a good talent and a lot of fun to watch.

I watched that Juve-Spurs friendly last weekend and thought I was going crazy. Sissoko looked really good and Alex Sandro looked like trash. He's going to trick you guys into keeping him around lol.

Rose is screwed himself with the interview. Doesn't matter if any of his points are true. You don't take that public, you don't call out your teammates and you don't disrespect Poch. The man who made you world class when you were a crappy LB.

He says it's not about money but then talks mostly about money. Says he wants to play up North but then says he would also like to play for Chelsea. What a joke.

Is he still on only 30k a week? I know he extended last year but if that's accurate it would piss me off too. Especially when your boy Kyle Walker jumps from 75k to 150k a week.

He's on 65k a week, an extension he signed 11 months ago when he expressed his love for Spurs and how he has grown accustomed to living in the south.

                    Re: Official Spurs Thread

Disappointing result today but I'm more confident playing at Wembley. Wembley was not the issue today, today the issue was not being able to break a team down that parks the bus and does it well.
Spurs sent in cross after cross but never changed the cross direction or approach. Made it too easy for Chelsea to clear each approach and then eventually burn us on the counter.
Wanyama was terrible. He is responsible for the 2nd goal (even though Lloris should have saved it). If Dier didn't get the yellow I think Poch would have taken Wanyama off first and left be Dier in midfield.
Kane and Dembele looked good but neither could break through.
I still don't know how Kante gets away with half the crap he does but I think Dembele bossed him today for most of the match.
I'm hoping this loss will push Levy to make one or two more signings. A RB and an attacker would be ideal.

Thought Spurs played very well. If Kane's rocket goes in off the post, I think it's a much different game. We were hammering them.

That's because they did even with Wanyama messing around. Dembele was a monster out there. Spurs are really missing a fit Son's clinical finishing to shine when Kane isn't on a tear. I swear It seems like everything that kid scores is a off a volley or 1 time finish.

                            Re: Official Spurs Thread

After watching more highlights of the match and listening to some pundits breakdown. I kind of disagree with the narrative that Spurs missed Walker and Rose on Sunday. If anything I would say Rose was missed but the way Chelsea played I do not believe Walker would have provided anything that would have helped.

We all know Walker is not as great with crossing as Trippier and the way Chelsea were defending, I don't think Walker would have made the attack any better.

Defensively, I wasn't happy to see us starting with 3 at the back. I think in the preseason we have looked at our best playing 4-2-3-1, and looked better against Newcastle in this formation. Early in the match we switched from 3 at the back to the 4-2-3-1 but that moved Dier to midfield and ruined the chance to have either Dier or Wanyama be subbed on late when we needed defense. Dier getting the yellow card also made it so he had to be subbed off and not Wanyama, who was responsible for the 2nd goal.

I know it is easy to look back and second guess Poch after the match but I do think he was outcoached by Conte again. When we play Chelsea it is usually the same game plan by Chelsea and Spurs have yet found a way to break it down. Hopefully this is something Poch can learn from and next time figure out a better attack.

Trippier was suspect though. He did very little attacking and defensively he let Alonso masquerade down that left flank, even with Dier basically playing as a defensive middie behind him.

I'll give him a break though. First game back from that preseason injury vs Juve.

TBH, Alli was very quiet all math minus him winning a few free kicks.

Trippier was suspect and like you said he was just returning from his injury. My point isn't so much trying to defend him but to point out Spurs had multiple games like this last season with Walker and Rose in the lineup and the results were the same.

I don't think all the blame should be on the players for this loss. Poch needs to figure out a way to attack this type of defense.
