Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread

    Arsenal's record that season: W 26 D 12 L 0 26 goals against

Chelsea's record the next season: W 29 D 8 L 1 15 goals against, record points total that still stands, record low goals against that will likely never be broken

United 99: Only premier league side to win the treble

Results: Arsenal somehow clearly the best premier league side ever despite basically just being another league trophy winner

Arsenal, in the second half of that season played nearly every game for a draw, some of the ugliest soccer we've seen Arsenal play because they were so consumed with being invincible. The Invincibles is basically Arsenal's ultimate 4th place trophy.

Meanwhile the original Invincibles were the most attacking side in the league and also managed to win the FA cup without conceding a single goal.

I'll take a league double or treble with a loss or two over "The Invincibles" any day.

You go on Arsenal fans, it's the only thing you can brag about anymore.

Except they're one of only 2 teams to go the whole league season undefeated over the course of about the last 130 years. Plus, let's be honest it was probably easier back then for PNE, beating Hyde 26-0 in the FA Cup etc. When does that happen these days? But won't take any thing away from them.

Not really gonna brag about it much, since we suck at the moment. It's just funny seeing Chelsea lose today when a lot of British media has been portraying them as 'unbeatable' recently.

I'm not salty, I just think more is made out of the Invincibles than it really is.

It was always just a dumb meaningless achievement, I'm glad we lost so we can just get on with it. You won't find a Chelsea fan that actually believed or expected us to go unbeaten, it was all the media hype and it was completely obnoxious to read about all the time.

This game was always going to be difficult, we have a terrible record against Newcastle at St James.

I definitely hate Newcastle more than Sunderland.

To be fair, we were awful today. Horrific display all around, except Oscar who was taken off.

I wouldn't go as far as going undefeated a meaningless achievement that is a pretty big deal in any sport but only meaningful if you end up winning the prize at the end. Any who Chelsea just ran into another in form team at home ( Despite there draw and loss to Burnley & West Ham) and loss; nothing really to see here but I will feel sorry for Sporting CP and Hull City in the coming week.

Yeah obviously not completely meaningless, I just think it's a bit silly. You saw what Arsenal had to sacrifice to get it, that team could have had 1 or 2 more trophies that season if they weren't so focused on going unbeaten in league.

Sporting I think will be close because we already qualified and will almost certainly get first, we will field bench players. Hull on the other hand will have a bad time.

Actually, Chelsea have already won the group, not just qualified.

Give us Arsenal fans a break it's impossible to compete with the massive spending power of Stoke City, Southampton, and West Ham.

What a weekend for my beloved Newcastle, finally over the hangover from celebrating that win, love sticking it to Mourinho, even better hearing him complain about the ball boys and fans holding up the game... why aye alright then Jose, whatever makes you feel better lad!!

After travelling down for the Burnley game last week and seeing us play awful, I said it would be typical if we were to beat Chelsea. Don't know what it is about us, Mourinho just can't hack it.

Real big few weeks ahead for us now, Arsenal away, Spurs away in COC QF, Sunderland at home, Man United away Boxing Day and then Everton at home. At this point to me, the cup has to be priority. I'd even take losing to the mackems again if it meant we throw everything at Spurs. I think it'll feel like a home game to us too, Spurs fans are generally quiet at home, factor in we're taking near 6,000 fans down to London for it, gonna be insane! Tickets came through on Friday for that and for Man United away so getting amped for those haha!!

I only saw the 2nd half and the performance was an ok 1..... I'll happily take the 3 points over anything else tho ^^

Van Persie's second goal was a perfect excellent example of a technical poachers goal XD
De Gea saved our rumps again, what would be nightmare without him

Also Mane should have gotten a red for that hack on Van P, he nearly broke his foot for god's sake

It's like every team but Chelsea got together and decided to let United completely off the hook.
