Chelsea are really in an identity crisis. On one hand, they have amazing World Class stars built to play other worldly football but Jose is trying relive the 2004-2006 years and park the bus and just doesn't have the back line performing to that level to play that way right now. Besides Azpilicueta, I can't point to anyone else on form on the backline. Plus not having Courtois is clearly messing up their unity too. Their best chance of getting back to some sort of form is to throw caution to the wind and go for 3-2, 4-3 wins right now. They have fire power to do it and absolutely put people to the sword and blow goals past people.
"If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Cahill, Zouma and Bego halve all been fine for the most part. Problem is Zouma being played in a position he isn't very good at, and I think Bego isn't as vocal as Courtois. Our midfield has been a huge part of the problem though, combined with Hazard/Costa not putting opposing teams under any real pressure which ends up just giving the opposition more and more confidence.

Super curious to see what Leon has to say, because people like him are the ones who have always repeated that "boring boring Chelsea" nonsense, and balked at us when we said defense wins you championships.

LVG has literally turned United into Chelsea, I'm actually kind of enjoying this. He's bulldozed Fergie's legacy and turned them into another generic, short passing, possession obsessed, money spending big dog.

He's turned United into everything they have claimed to hate for the last 10 years, and the best part is he has even got United fans to defend it.
Dang, I never looked at it liked that.

Hazard was completely invisible today when he was in. Unreal to see him in this form with how he trashed the league last season.

Maybe it'll change when Giggs takes over, who knows. RVG is a means to an end. Finishing top 4-5 is their main goal. I would assume Man U fans realize that they will never win anything of consequence playing with this style (if you can call it a style), with these players. They're still rebuilding.

Oh I'm well aware he's a means to an end, I just think it's great what he's turned them into.

Also, appointing Giggs as United manager for his first ever managing job would have about a 3% chance to NOT end in disaster

Well, us United fans of course will balk at the idea of "defense winning championships" because Fergie proved that its not the only way. When has United NOT been a money spending big dog? Even when they were churning out the class of 92 and the lot they eventually were paying huge wages to retain them and all the while bringing in and out big name attacking players with large wages.

United are a rebuilding team in transition and for now their goal is to remain relevant and earn a place in Europe while they rebuild. Of course for now they will play possession and not try to outgun teams. They dont have enough bullets for now. Honestly, the only thing United and Chelsea have in common is they are both proof the most of the EPL these days arent as intimidated by the kits on the pitch as much as they used to be. The gap has narrowed throughout more than ever.

Remi Garde has been appointed new Villa boss today. He has been brought in to translate to the French imports that they are all crap.

Clark got way too tight to Dembele there but he showed good strength. Sinclair just had a chance after cutting in. It'll be interesting what Garde can do with Villa.

That was the Dembele that people expected when he made his move to North London. Strong in possession, skipping by players, scoring the occasional goal.
